Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol 10ml 20mg at a glance

Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol is a 10ml bottle of nicotine salt e-liquid at 20mg/ml (2%), made for pod kits and other low-wattage mouth-to-lung devices. 20mg/ml is the legal maximum nicotine strength for e-liquid sold in the UK, and 10ml is the largest bottle size permitted for nicotine-containing liquid, so this listing is the full-strength, full-size version of the flavour.

Dinner Lady is a UK e-liquid brand that built its reputation on dessert and fruit recipes before bringing the same flavour thinking to nicotine salts. The Salts range packages those recipes for pod users who want a smooth hit at a higher strength. Blue Menthol sits on the cooling, fruit-leaning side of the lineup: a blue-style fruit character with a menthol finish, rather than a heavy mint that scratches the throat.

The key facts, in one place:

  • Bottle size: 10ml, the UK maximum for nicotine e-liquid
  • Nicotine: 20mg/ml nicotine salt, which means roughly 200mg of nicotine in the whole bottle
  • Type: nic salt, designed for pod systems and low-wattage devices rather than sub-ohm tanks
  • Flavour direction: blue fruit with a menthol cooling finish
  • Suitable coil resistance: roughly 0.6 to 1.2 ohm, run at around 8 to 25W
  • Typical lifespan: about 2,500 to 4,000 puffs per bottle, depending on device and draw style
  • Age restriction: 18+ only

This page walks through how the liquid behaves, which devices suit it, how to choose between 20mg and lower strengths, how much it costs per day to run, and how it compares with other menthol salts on the UK market. Flavour notes describe the style this name usually signals in UK salts, and individual perception varies, so treat them as a guide rather than a guarantee.

Health note: this product contains nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance. It is intended for adult smokers and existing vapers, not for anyone who does not already use nicotine.

Flavour profile: what Blue Menthol tastes like

The word blue in UK e-liquid naming usually points to a blend of blue-coloured fruit notes. That tends to mean a berry-forward sweetness with a slightly tart, candy-like edge rather than a sharp citrus bite. Blue Menthol pairs that fruit character with menthol, so the overall impression is a sweet-cool flavour rather than a pure mint or a plain fruit.

On the inhale, expect the fruit to arrive first: a rounded, mildly sweet berry note that is clear without being sticky. The menthol follows closely behind and builds as you continue vaping, giving a cool sensation across the tongue and the back of the mouth. On the exhale, the menthol lingers and the fruit softens, which is why many people describe this style as refreshing rather than heavy.

A few points help set expectations:

  • Sweetness: moderate. It is a fruit-menthol, not a dessert, so it should not coat your mouth the way custard or cake flavours can.
  • Cooling level: noticeable but not extreme. If you are used to very icy, polar-style liquids, this will feel gentler.
  • Flavour persistence: menthol-led flavours tend to stay clear longer in a coil than creamy ones, which helps in the later part of a pod fill.
  • Aftertaste: a clean, cool finish with a faint fruit sweetness, rather than a lingering syrupy film.

Device temperature changes the picture. At lower wattage, the fruit reads as softer and the menthol as smoother. Turn the power up toward the top of the device's range and the menthol sharpens while the fruit thins out. If your kit has adjustable airflow, a slightly tighter draw concentrates the flavour, while a more open draw makes the vapour cooler and airier.

Menthol also interacts with nicotine. The cooling effect can mask harshness, so 20mg liquid in a menthol flavour often feels smoother than the same strength in a plain tobacco or fruit liquid. That is useful for comfort, but it is also easy to take bigger and more frequent puffs than you realise, so pay attention to how much you are actually using.

Throat hit and nicotine delivery with 20mg salts

Nicotine salts differ from traditional freebase nicotine in their chemistry. Salt nicotine is paired with an acid, commonly benzoic acid, which lowers the pH of the liquid. The practical result is that you can use a high strength without the sharp, scratchy throat hit that 20mg freebase would produce. You still get a clear throat sensation, but it is rounder and more controlled.

Nic salts also reach the bloodstream faster than freebase at the same strength, which is why they are popular with people moving away from cigarettes. Many ex-smokers find that a short, low-power puff on a salt pod gives the quick satisfaction they were used to, with less need to chain-vape.

What to expect from Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol at 20mg/ml:

  • Throat hit: medium to firm. The menthol adds a cool sensation that sits on top of the nicotine, so the first few puffs can feel stronger than the number on the bottle suggests.
  • Nicotine rush: noticeable within a few puffs if you are new to salts. Take it slowly for the first session.
  • Vapour production: modest. Salts are designed for small, efficient puffs from low-power devices, not for clouds.
  • Per-puff intake: 20mg salt delivers a lot of nicotine in a small amount of liquid, so you will use less volume than you would with a lower-strength freebase.

Who feels the hit most? People who have never smoked or who have not used nicotine for a while will find 20mg strong, and may experience dizziness, nausea or a tight throat. If that sounds like you, step down to a lower strength rather than pushing through. Experienced smokers coming off a pack a day typically find 20mg the closest match, while lighter smokers often do better on 10mg or 12mg.

One more practical point: because salts are smoother, it is easy to overshoot. If you find yourself with a headache, a racing heart or a queasy stomach, stop vaping and drink some water. These are signs you have taken more nicotine than your body wants at that moment. Over time, many people reduce their strength deliberately as part of cutting down.

Bottle design, packaging, UK rules and safe storage

E-liquid does not have a build quality in the way a device does, but the bottle and packaging still matter for safety, ease of use and shelf life. Dinner Lady Salts comes in a 10ml plastic bottle with a narrow nozzle, which suits the small fill ports on most pod kits and reduces the chance of spills.

Things worth checking when your order arrives:

  • Tamper-evident seal: the cap should have an intact ring or seal. If it looks broken or has been pushed back on, contact the shop before using the liquid.
  • Child-resistant cap: UK rules require child-resistant closures on nicotine e-liquid. You will need to press down and twist, which can be fiddly at first but is there for good reason.
  • Label information: the bottle should show the flavour name, nicotine strength, volume, ingredients, batch code and the required nicotine health warning. A missing or illegible label is a reason to query the order.
  • Nozzle fit: the tip should be thin enough to sit in a pod fill port without forcing it. If it feels loose or crooked, tilt the bottle slowly to control the flow.
  • Bottle clarity: the plastic is semi-opaque, which gives some protection from light. Keep it out of direct sunlight regardless.

Packaging for e-liquids is usually minimal: a bottle, sometimes in a small box. It is worth keeping the packaging if you plan to give the bottle to a friend, since the box carries the full legal information.

Recycling matters as well. The empty plastic bottle can usually go in household plastic recycling once rinsed and fully empty, but check with your local council since rules differ by area. Do not pour leftover liquid down the drain. If a bottle still contains liquid you no longer want, seal it and ask your council about household hazardous waste collection. Vape devices and batteries are different again: they belong in WEEE drop-off points, many of which are available at supermarkets and recycling centres, not in your general waste bin.

Store the bottle upright, with the cap closed, somewhere cool and out of reach of children and pets. Nicotine liquid is toxic if swallowed and can be absorbed through skin, so wipe any spills straight away and wash your hands after filling.

A few UK rules explain why the bottle looks the way it does and help you spot a genuine product:

  • Strength cap: nicotine e-liquid is limited to 20mg/ml, the same cap that applies to the liquid inside disposable vapes.
  • Bottle size cap: refill bottles are limited to 10ml. Larger volumes are only sold as shortfills with no nicotine added.
  • Tank and pod size cap: refillable tanks and pods are limited to 2ml.
  • Notification: products should be notified to the MHRA before being placed on the UK market.
  • Age: it is illegal to sell nicotine vaping products to anyone under 18, and a legitimate retailer will carry out age checks.

For storage, never transfer liquid into drink bottles or unmarked containers. If liquid gets on your skin, wash it off with soap and water. If it is swallowed or gets in your eyes, seek urgent medical help and take the bottle with you.

Which devices suit this e-liquid: coils, mesh and pods

Nicotine salts are designed for devices that run at low power with small, tight puffs. Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol at 20mg is intended for pod kits and compact pen-style devices. It is not designed for large sub-ohm tanks, which would waste liquid and deliver far more nicotine per puff than most people want.

The most relevant coil types for this liquid:

  • Standard resistance wire coils (0.8 to 1.2 ohm): the traditional pod coil, heating quickly at low wattage. They suit salts well and are widely available for refillable pod systems.
  • Mesh coils (around 0.6 to 1.0 ohm): a flat mesh surface gives a larger heating area, which improves flavour consistency and reduces hot spots. Good for menthol flavours that can taste thin on tired coils.
  • Ceramic coils: offer a clean, neutral taste and last well with thinner liquids. They can take a little longer to saturate when you first fill the pod.

Which type you choose matters less than keeping the coil in good condition. A fresh coil of any decent type will do justice to a menthol-fruit flavour. A worn one will make it taste flat or slightly burnt.

Practical device guidance:

  • Pod capacity: UK rules cap refillable tanks and pods at 2ml, so a 10ml bottle fills a pod about five times.
  • Wattage range: roughly 8 to 25W. If your device has adjustable power, start low and increase only if the flavour seems weak.
  • Airflow: tighter mouth-to-lung draws suit salts. Wide-open airflow cools the vapour and dilutes the nicotine impact.
  • Fixed-output pods: many popular pod systems use a set output and a small coil, which is exactly the setup salts are built for.

Avoid pairing this liquid with high-wattage, sub-ohm setups. At 40W or more with a 0.2 ohm coil, you would be inhaling enormous volumes of 20mg liquid, which is uncomfortable and expensive. If you want a bigger cloud, look at freebase shortfills with lower nicotine strength instead.

Battery and charging: matching your pod kit to the liquid

The liquid does not carry a battery of its own, but the battery in your kit determines how well the liquid performs, so it deserves attention. Salt-friendly pod kits usually include a built-in battery in the region of 400 to 1,000mAh, charged by USB-C. A larger battery is not a flavour upgrade; it simply gives more puffs between charges.

Here is how battery size translates into real use with 20mg salts:

  • 400 to 600mAh: typically a day of light use, or half a day of heavier use. Suits people who top up regularly.
  • 700 to 1,000mAh: commonly one to two days of moderate use, because salts are efficient and each puff needs relatively little power.
  • Removable-cell devices: carry a spare charged battery and swap when needed.

Charging tips that apply to nearly every kit:

  • Use the cable supplied, or a reputable USB-C cable, plugged into a standard 5V phone-style adaptor or computer port.
  • Do not charge overnight on a soft surface such as a bed or sofa. Place the device on a hard, non-flammable surface where you can see it.
  • Do not use a rapid-charge brick designed for laptops unless the device manual says it is fine.
  • Stop using any device with a swollen case, a hot battery or damaged wiring.
  • Avoid leaving a device in a hot car or in direct sunlight, which degrades lithium cells and can affect liquid thickness.

A low battery can change how salts taste. As voltage drops, the coil may not reach full temperature, so the fruit can read as dull while the menthol seems sharper. If a fresh fill tastes weaker than expected, charge the device before blaming the liquid.

Responsible disposal is important. Lithium batteries must never go in general waste or household recycling. Take dead vapes and batteries to a WEEE collection point, such as those at larger supermarkets, local council recycling centres or vape shops that offer take-back schemes. If a battery is visibly damaged, tape over the terminals before dropping it off.

Choosing your nicotine strength: 20mg or something lower

This listing is the 20mg/ml version. It is the strongest nicotine salt strength legally available in the UK, and it is designed for people who smoked regularly and need a comparable level of satisfaction. It is not a starting point for everyone.

A rough guide, bearing in mind that everyone's body is different:

  • 20mg/ml: suits people who smoked around 15 to 20 cigarettes a day or more, or who find lower strengths leave them reaching for a cigarette. This is the listing on this page.
  • 10 to 12mg/ml: suits lighter smokers, social smokers, and people who have been vaping for a while and want to cut down.
  • 5 to 6mg/ml: for those close to quitting nicotine, or for anyone who finds even 10mg too strong.

Signs that 20mg is too strong include dizziness, a pounding heart, nausea, cold sweats or a harsh, burning throat. Signs it is too weak include persistent cravings, taking many more puffs than you expect, and going back to smoking.

Nicotine strength and puff frequency work against each other. With a higher strength you typically need fewer puffs. If you use a high-strength liquid but still puff constantly, you may be consuming more nicotine than you did as a smoker, which is not the aim. Many vapers find that after a few weeks, they can drop one strength level without feeling deprived.

Do not mix strengths without understanding the maths. Mixing 20mg with 0mg in equal parts yields roughly 10mg, but mixing at home in a small bottle can easily produce uneven results, and the UK rules on bottle size mean most home mixing happens in larger containers. If you want a different strength, buy the correct bottle.

People who are pregnant, have heart conditions or are under medical care should talk to a GP or pharmacist before using nicotine products. NHS stop smoking services offer free support and can discuss vaping alongside other quit options.

Who Blue Menthol 20mg is for, and who should look elsewhere

Choosing an e-liquid starts with knowing whether it fits your situation. Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol 20mg is a specific product for a specific group.

It is likely to suit:

  • Adult smokers moving to vaping who need a strong nicotine match, particularly those who smoked a pack a day.
  • Existing pod users who like fruit-menthol flavours and want a refill option instead of disposables.
  • Vapers who prefer a cooling finish but do not want an overwhelming mint blast.
  • People who want to refill a reusable pod and cut down on single-use devices.
  • Anyone who values a compact 10ml bottle that fits in a pocket or bag.

It is probably not for:

  • Non-smokers and under-18s: nicotine is addictive, and it is illegal to sell vapes to anyone under 18 in the UK.
  • Light or occasional smokers: 20mg may be too strong. A lower strength will be more comfortable.
  • Sub-ohm vapers: use freebase or shortfill liquids designed for high-power devices.
  • People who dislike menthol: the cooling is part of the identity of the flavour. A plain fruit or dessert option may suit better.
  • Anyone sensitive to propylene glycol: salts often contain a high proportion of PG, which can cause a dry throat or irritation in some people.

There is also a middle group worth mentioning: people who currently use disposable vapes and are curious about refillables. Switching can reduce waste and can reduce cost, but it means learning to fill pods, change coils and charge a device. If that sounds like a chore, a disposable might still make more sense for now.

If you are not sure which group you fall into, start with a lower-strength bottle and see how you feel. It is much easier to move up in strength than to cope with a bottle that is too strong for your needs.

How to fill, use and look after your kit

Using nic salt e-liquid is straightforward once you have done it a couple of times. Follow these steps for a clean fill and reliable performance.

  • 1. Prepare: wash and dry your hands, and work over a tissue or small tray. Turn the device off if it has a power switch.
  • 2. Open the pod: remove the pod from the device. Open the rubber fill port or slide the cover aside, depending on your model.
  • 3. Open the bottle: press down on the child-resistant cap and twist. Keep the bottle upright until the nozzle is positioned.
  • 4. Fill slowly: aim the nozzle at the side wall of the fill port rather than straight into the centre, to avoid flooding the airflow channel. Stop below the max line.
  • 5. Close up: replace the port cover, wipe off any spill and put the pod back into the device.
  • 6. Let it soak: wait five to ten minutes before your first puff so the wick saturates fully. Skipping this step is the main cause of burnt coils.
  • 7. Prime gently: take two or three short puffs without inhaling deeply, then begin as normal.

Good vaping technique for salts is mouth-to-lung: draw the vapour into your mouth for a second or two, then inhale. Short puffs of two to three seconds are enough. Long, hard pulls overheat the coil and waste liquid.

Maintenance habits that pay off:

  • Change the coil or pod when the flavour fades or tastes burnt, usually every one to two weeks, or after roughly two to four bottles of 10ml liquid.
  • Do not let the pod run completely dry before refilling.
  • Wipe the mouthpiece and the connection points regularly.
  • Store the device upright, away from heat.
  • When changing flavour, rinse the pod with warm water, dry it fully, then refill.

If the device has a firing button, avoid pressing it without inhaling. That wastes battery and can dry out the coil.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with salt e-liquids are device-related rather than liquid-related. Here are the usual culprits and what to try.

  • Burnt taste: usually a dry or worn coil. Let the pod sit after filling, take shorter puffs and replace the coil if the taste persists. Menthol flavours can taste harsh quickly if the coil is overheated.
  • Weak flavour: check the battery level, make sure the pod is not nearly empty and consider a fresh coil. Vaping a different flavour just before can also dull your palate, which is sometimes called vaper's tongue.
  • Leaking pod: overfilling is the most common cause. Fill to just below the max line, avoid squeezing the pod, and keep the device upright. Temperature changes can also cause pressure that pushes liquid out.
  • Gurgling or spitting: condensation or excess liquid in the airflow. Blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear it, and wipe away excess.
  • Hard draw or no vapour: airflow is blocked or the coil is flooded. Check that the airflow slot is clear and that the pod is seated properly.
  • Throat irritation: may be caused by too high a strength, too much power or dehydration. Try a lower strength or a lower wattage, and drink more water.
  • Sweetness building up on the coil: sugars and flavourings can gunk up a coil. If the taste fades quickly, replace the coil rather than trying to clean it.
  • Device not firing: check the battery, clean the contacts with a dry cotton bud and make sure the pod is correctly seated.

When you swap between very different flavours, remnants of the previous liquid can ghost into the new one. Menthol especially tends to linger. If you want a clean change, replace the coil, or use a separate pod for each flavour.

If you suspect the liquid itself is faulty, for example it smells wrong, looks cloudy, has particles or has a broken seal, stop using it and contact the shop with the batch number and photos. Do not keep vaping a liquid that seems off.

Value for money and how long a 10ml bottle lasts

Cost is a major reason people switch from smoking, so it is worth working out how a 10ml salt compares with other options. The numbers below are estimates based on typical usage, not promises.

How long does 10ml last? It depends on how you vape:

  • Light use (about 1ml per day): roughly 10 days per bottle.
  • Moderate use (about 2ml per day): around 5 days per bottle.
  • Heavy use (3 to 4ml per day): two to three days per bottle.

Because 20mg salt is satisfying quickly, many people end up in the light to moderate range. As a rough puff guide, a pod kit running at low power can produce about 250 to 400 puffs per millilitre, which puts a 10ml bottle at around 2,500 to 4,000 puffs.

Compared with other formats:

  • Versus disposables: a typical UK disposable holds 2ml of liquid. A 10ml bottle contains five times that volume, usually at a lower price per millilitre, and avoids throwing away a battery and plastic body each time. You do need to buy a reusable kit and pods or coils.
  • Versus cigarettes: a pack of 20 cigarettes now costs well over what a bottle of nic salt costs, and the bottle may last days or weeks depending on use.
  • Versus shortfills: shortfills are cheaper per ml but are meant for larger, higher-power devices and lower nicotine strength.

Keep running costs in perspective by including coil or pod replacement. Replacement pods or coils typically cost a few pounds each and last one to two weeks. Over a month, a regular user might spend on one to three bottles of liquid plus a couple of coils.

For good value, buy from a reputable UK seller with clear prices and a decent returns policy, avoid unusual deals that look too good, and check the batch date. Multi-buy offers can bring the unit price down if you know you will use several bottles, but do not stockpile more than you can use within the shelf life, which is typically around 18 to 24 months when stored properly.

How it compares with other menthol and fruit-menthol salts

Dinner Lady Salts Blue Menthol competes in a crowded field. Almost every major UK brand sells 10ml 20mg salts, and there are plenty of menthol and blue-fruit options. Comparing honestly means recognising what this liquid does well and where another choice might fit better.

Where it is strong:

  • Balanced fruit and cooling: it aims for a fruit-menthol blend rather than an extreme ice flavour, which suits people who want a gentle chill.
  • Established UK brand: Dinner Lady has been selling e-liquid for years and its labelling and consistency are generally dependable.
  • Widely available: easy to find, easy to reorder, and often stocked alongside the rest of the Salts range.

Where others might be better:

  • Stronger ice: if you want a really icy blast, brands with dedicated extreme-ice ranges may suit better.
  • Different fruit: if you prefer citrus, tropical or candy-led menthols, other lines may give a closer match.
  • Lower price per ml: some house-brand salts undercut the big names, though quality and flavour accuracy vary.
  • Larger volumes: if you vape a lot, shortfills may be cheaper, but only for higher-power devices.

Other widely sold 10ml salt ranges in the UK include IVG, Nasty Juice, Elfliq and Hayati. Each has its own flavour approach, so the practical advice is to try one bottle of each style you think you will like, rather than buying in bulk before you know what suits you.

One more comparison worth making is between salts in general and disposables with a similar flavour. A disposable can be convenient, but you get no control over strength or coil life. A refillable pod with a bottle like this gives you control over both, at the cost of a little more effort.

The bottom line is that Blue Menthol is a sensible, mainstream choice for adult smokers who want a smooth, cooling fruit flavour at 20mg. It is not a niche or extreme liquid, and that is exactly what some people want.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Best value per ml in the category
  • Choose your own device and coil
  • Available in a wide strength ladder

Cons

  • Refilling can leak if you overfill
  • Coil priming has a small learning curve
  • You handle the bottle — less discreet than pods

Customer Buying Tips

  • Match the strength to how much you smoked: 20+/day → 10-20 mg nic salt; 10/day → 10 mg; under 5/day → 3-6 mg freebase.
  • Match the ratio to your device: pod kits take 50/50, sub-ohm tanks take 70/30 shortfill.
  • Don't overfill: leaving the airhole clear prevents gurgling and leaking.
  • Shake before use so the nicotine and flavour integrate evenly.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I choose, and is 20mg too strong?

20mg/ml is the highest strength allowed in the UK and is aimed at people who smoked heavily, around a pack a day. Lighter smokers or anyone new to nicotine usually do better on 10mg to 12mg, and the lower strengths are available in the same range. If you feel dizzy, nauseous or get a very harsh throat hit, drop to a lower strength.

Can I use this e-liquid in any vape device?

No. Nic salts are designed for pod kits and low-wattage devices with coils around 0.6 to 1.2 ohm. They are not suitable for high-power sub-ohm tanks, where they would be wasteful and overly strong. Always check your device's recommended wattage and coil range before filling.

How do I charge the device I use with this liquid?

Use the supplied USB-C cable with a standard 5V adaptor or a computer port, and charge on a hard, non-flammable surface where you can keep an eye on it. Avoid overnight charging on beds or sofas. The e-liquid itself has no battery, so charging depends on your pod kit, and a drained battery can make the flavour taste weaker.

Can I swap to a different flavour in the same pod?

Yes, but menthol lingers in the wick and coil. For a clean change, rinse the pod with warm water, dry it fully and refill, or fit a new coil. Many people keep a separate pod for menthol flavours so that other liquids do not pick up a cooling aftertaste.

How long will a 10ml bottle last?

It depends on use, but a moderate vaper using around 2ml per day will get about five days from a bottle, while a light user could stretch it to around ten. In puff terms, a low-power pod kit typically delivers roughly 2,500 to 4,000 puffs from 10ml. Heavy use or high-wattage devices will use it faster.

Is this good value compared with disposables?

Usually, yes, for regular users. A 10ml bottle holds five times the liquid in a typical 2ml disposable and avoids throwing away a battery and body each time. You do need a reusable kit and replacement pods or coils, so the saving builds up over weeks rather than on the first purchase.

Who should not buy this product?

It is not for anyone under 18, non-smokers, or people who are pregnant or have heart conditions unless a healthcare professional has advised otherwise. Light smokers may find 20mg too strong, and people who dislike menthol will probably prefer a different flavour. Nicotine is addictive, so do not start if you do not already use it.

Do you deliver to all of the UK, and how is age checked?

Delivery covers the UK mainland, with options and costs shown at checkout and on the shop's delivery page, including any cut-off times for dispatch. Because nicotine products are age-restricted, expect an age check at checkout or on delivery, and make sure someone aged 18 or over can accept the parcel.

What if my bottle arrives damaged or I have a problem with it?

Check the seal, label and cap when it arrives. If the bottle is leaking, damaged or looks tampered with, contact the shop straight away with your order number and clear photos so they can arrange a replacement or refund. For unopened items and faulty goods, see the returns page for the current terms, as opened e-liquids are often excluded for hygiene reasons.
