Double Brew Nic Salts 10ml 20mg Menthol: what you are buying

Double Brew Nic Salts 10ml 20mg Menthol is a ready-mixed nicotine salt e-liquid from the Double range. It comes in a 10ml bottle at 20mg/ml (2%) nicotine strength and carries a menthol flavour. It is a refill liquid rather than a complete device, so you pour it into a compatible pod, cartridge or small tank and use it with a refillable kit you already own. If you are moving over from single-use vapes, that is the main thing to understand before ordering: this bottle is the fuel, not the vape itself.

Nicotine salt liquids differ from traditional freebase e-liquids in the form of nicotine they use. Nic salts are formulated so the nicotine is smoother at higher strengths, which is why 10mg and 20mg are the usual options for small pod systems. A 20mg nic salt is the top of the legal range in the UK, so it is aimed at adults who currently smoke or who already vape at a high strength and want a liquid that feels steady rather than harsh in a low-powered device.

Menthol is one of the most common flavour families for nic salts, and it sits well in a 10ml bottle because a single flavour is easy to judge. You will know within a couple of pods whether it suits you. The format is also practical: ten millilitres is the largest bottle size you can legally buy for nicotine e-liquid in the UK, and it is enough to refill a typical pod kit many times over before you need another.

This page walks through what the liquid is, what to expect from the flavour and the throat hit, which devices and coils suit it, how to fill and look after your kit, how to fix common problems and how the cost compares with other ways of vaping. It is written for UK adults. Nicotine is addictive, vaping is not risk-free, and products like this are intended for adult smokers and existing vapers only. If you do not currently use nicotine, this is not a product for you.

Specifications at a glance

Before getting into the detail, here is a plain summary of the product so you can check it against the device you own. Where the exact figure depends on the batch or on the label printed on the bottle, we say so rather than guess.

  • Product type: nicotine salt e-liquid (refill), not a disposable and not a complete kit.
  • Brand and range: Double, Double Brew nic salts.
  • Bottle size: 10ml, the maximum bottle size allowed for nicotine e-liquid in the UK.
  • Nicotine strength: 20mg/ml (2%), the maximum strength permitted in the UK.
  • Nicotine type: nicotine salt, designed for low-wattage pod and mouth-to-lung devices.
  • Flavour: menthol.
  • Base: propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), nicotine, flavouring. Nic salt liquids in this format are commonly a balanced 50/50 base, but always read the ratio printed on your bottle.
  • Best suited to: pod kits, refillable pod systems and small mouth-to-lung tanks running roughly 8 to 18 watts.
  • Not suited to: sub-ohm direct-to-lung tanks at high wattage, where a 20mg liquid would be far too strong.
  • Packaging: child-resistant and tamper-evident closure with the required health warning on the label.
  • Age restriction: sold to adults aged 18 and over only.

If you are not sure whether your device is a pod system or a sub-ohm tank, the quickest check is the coil resistance printed on the coil head. Coils of about 0.6 to 1.2 ohm are typical for pod kits and suit nic salts. Coils of 0.3 ohm or below are sub-ohm coils designed for much lower nicotine strengths, and this liquid is not meant for them.

Flavour profile: a menthol that leads with cool, not sweetness

The flavour is menthol. Menthol liquids work by combining peppermint-type or cooling flavour compounds with a cooling agent, and the result is a clean, chilled sensation on the inhale that carries through to the exhale. Because this is a single flavour rather than a fruit-and-ice blend, expect the cooling character to be the main event rather than a garnish on something sweet.

We describe the profile here based on what menthol nic salts typically deliver, and individual taste differs, so treat this as a guide rather than a promise. Most vapers describe a menthol liquid in three stages:

  • On the inhale: a cool, slightly minty airiness with very little perceptible sweetness. Nic salt bases tend to feel smoother than freebase at the same strength, so the cooling sensation arrives without much roughness.
  • In the middle: a steady, clean mint-style note. There is no heavy dessert or candy layer to compete with it, so the taste stays consistent from the first puff to the last of the pod.
  • On the exhale: a lingering cool finish in the mouth and sinuses that fades fairly quickly. Some people find this refreshing, others find it too sharp, and that is a matter of preference rather than quality.

It is worth knowing how the cooling strength interacts with your device. At lower wattage the flavour reads softer and the cooling is gentler. Turn the power up and the liquid warms, the cooling can become more pronounced and the mint note can start to feel sharper. If you find the first few puffs too icy, drop the wattage by a watt or two or take shorter draws before changing liquid.

Menthol is also forgiving for people who are cutting down on sweet tastes. Many ex-smokers settle on menthol or tobacco-style flavours after a period of trying fruit blends, and a plain menthol is a reasonable place to land. If you prefer something sweeter, the flavour variants of the Double Brew range and other menthol-and-fruit blends are covered in the FAQs below.

One practical point on flavour fatigue. People who vape the same strong flavour all day sometimes notice that it seems to fade, a phenomenon vapers often call vaper's tongue. A drink of water, a different flavour for a day or a change of coil usually brings the taste back. Keeping a second flavour in your bag is a cheap way to avoid the problem.

Performance and nicotine delivery at 20mg

With an e-liquid there is no puff count in the way there is with a disposable. What matters is how much liquid you vape and how your device handles it. Still, it helps to have a rough sense of what a 10ml bottle gives you, so you can plan your purchases without guesswork.

Pod kits typically hold between about 1.5ml and 3ml per fill. A 10ml bottle therefore refills a pod roughly three to six times, depending on the capacity of your device. How quickly you work through that depends heavily on your habits. As a rough planning range, a moderate vaper on a nic salt in a pod kit might use anywhere from 1ml to 3ml a day. At that rate a 10ml bottle lasts somewhere between about three and ten days. These are estimates, not guarantees, and your own usage will land wherever it lands.

On nicotine delivery, a 20mg/ml nic salt is designed to give a satisfying hit at the low wattages small devices run at. The salt form means the throat hit stays tolerable even at this strength, whereas a 20mg freebase liquid would feel noticeably harsh. That said, 20mg is still the strongest liquid you can buy in the UK. For many people, especially lighter smokers and those who have already cut down, it can feel like a lot. Take shorter, gentler draws at first and see how your body responds.

Here is what affects performance more than anything else:

  • Coil condition. A fresh coil gives the cleanest flavour and strongest cooling. A tired coil makes any liquid taste flat or slightly burnt.
  • Wattage. Staying within the range recommended for your coil keeps the vapour smooth. Pushing past it overheats the liquid.
  • Draw style. Nic salts suit a mouth-to-lung draw: pull into your mouth first, then inhale. Fast, deep lung hits at high strength can be uncomfortable.
  • Priming. A new coil needs time to soak up liquid before the first puff. Skipping this is the usual cause of dry, harsh early hits.

Vapour production is modest compared with a sub-ohm kit, which is normal and by design. Nic salts are meant for a flavour-focused, low-cloud style of vaping, and that suits both discreet use and small devices.

Bottle design and build quality

The liquid ships in a 10ml bottle, which in the UK is made of plastic with a narrow dropper-style or fine-tip nozzle. A thin nozzle is useful rather than cosmetic: it lets you aim into the small fill port on a pod without spilling, which matters a great deal with a strong nicotine liquid. Check yours before you start filling and take the nozzle firmly in place.

Under UK rules, nicotine e-liquid has to be sold in packaging that is child-resistant and tamper-evident, and the bottle label must carry the nicotine content, ingredients and the required health warning. In practice you will see a break-away ring or seal under the cap and a cap that needs a press-and-twist action to open. If the seal is already broken when your order arrives, do not use the bottle and contact us.

When you assess a bottle on arrival, these are the things worth checking:

  • Seal intact. The tamper-evident ring should be unbroken.
  • Label legible. Strength, flavour, batch information and the health warning should be clear and complete.
  • No residue. A film of liquid around the neck or cap suggests the bottle was squeezed or has leaked in transit.
  • Firm nozzle. The tip should be seated and not wobble.

Plastic bottles are slightly flexible, which helps with controlled dosing, but it also means you should not squeeze hard while pouring. A gentle squeeze and a steady hand is all it takes. Wipe the nozzle clean after every fill and close the cap fully. A drop of nicotine liquid on a worktop or your fingers is easily avoided and worth avoiding, because it can irritate skin.

On storage and disposal, keep the bottle upright, away from heat and direct sunlight, and well out of reach of children and pets. Nicotine liquid is poisonous if swallowed. When the bottle is empty, rinse it if your local scheme allows and check your council's guidance on plastics. Empty e-liquid bottles can often be recycled with household plastics once empty, but local rules vary. Pods and coils should go to a vape recycling drop-off point instead of general waste, and many UK vape shops and household waste recycling centres offer these.

Battery and charging: matching the liquid to a device

A bottle of e-liquid has no battery of its own. The battery belongs to the device you pour it into, so this section is about choosing and looking after a battery that suits a 20mg nic salt. It is the part of the setup that most affects day-to-day convenience.

Small refillable pod kits generally carry batteries somewhere in the range of about 400mAh to 1000mAh. A pod kit with a 600mAh to 800mAh battery is a sensible match for a 20mg nic salt, since the liquid is intended for low-wattage use and does not drain the battery quickly. Heavier users, or anyone who works long shifts away from a charger, may prefer a larger battery or a spare device. As a general rule, a 10ml bottle will outlast several battery charges on a compact kit, so plan your charging around your day rather than the bottle.

A few points of battery and charging good practice apply whichever device you use:

  • Use the cable that came with the kit, or a reputable USB-C cable from a known brand. Cheap unbranded cables can be poorly made.
  • Do not leave a device charging unattended or overnight, especially on soft furnishings.
  • Keep it cool. Do not leave a device in a hot car or in direct sunlight, which damages cells and increases risk.
  • Do not carry a device loose in a pocket with coins or keys, because metal can short the contacts.
  • Stop using it if it swells, overheats or smells odd, and dispose of it correctly.

Most pod kits take around 30 to 90 minutes to charge fully over USB-C, though exact times vary by model and battery size. Some have a puff-counter or an indicator light that changes colour as the battery drops, which is a handy way to keep track.

When a device reaches the end of its life, do not put it in household rubbish or the ordinary recycling. Lithium batteries in bins have caused fires in refuse lorries and recycling plants across the UK. Take the device to a battery or vape recycling drop-off point, which many shops, supermarkets and council recycling centres provide. Where the battery can be removed, take it out and recycle it separately.

Coil and mesh technology: what suits a 20mg menthol nic salt

The coil is where the liquid is turned into vapour, and it is the biggest single influence on how this liquid tastes. Because this is a nic salt, you want a coil designed for low-wattage, mouth-to-lung vaping. Here is what to look for.

Resistance. Coils in the range of about 0.6 to 1.2 ohm suit nic salts. Lower-resistance coils at the bottom of that range give a warmer vapour and more flavour at higher wattage. Higher-resistance coils give a cooler, tighter draw and make a small battery last longer. Match the wattage to the range printed on the coil or recommended by the device maker.

Mesh versus ceramic versus standard wire. Mesh coils use a flat sheet of resistance wire with a larger surface area, which tends to heat evenly and give consistent flavour. They are common in current pod systems and work well with menthol liquids, because the even heat helps the cooling sensation come through cleanly. Ceramic coils are valued for flavour purity and are often found in sealed pod cartridges. Traditional round-wire coils are more varied in performance, and the quality depends heavily on how they are built.

Wicking. Nic salts at 50/50 tend to wick quickly through the cotton, which reduces the risk of dry hits compared with thick liquids. Even so, a coil needs a few minutes to saturate after a fill.

A point specific to menthol: the cooling agents in menthol liquids can leave a faint residue on a coil over time, so some vapers find the flavour starts to dull after fewer refills than they would get from a plain fruit liquid. If you notice the cooling effect weakening or a slightly bitter edge, change the coil before blaming the liquid.

  • Typical coil life on a nic salt is somewhere between one and three weeks of regular use, depending on how much you vape and your wattage.
  • Signs a coil is finished: a flat or burnt taste, gurgling, a spluttering sound, or noticeably less vapour.
  • Compatibility: only use coils made for your device. Do not mix brands.

If you are using a closed pod system with sealed disposable cartridges, check whether the pod is designed to be refilled at all. Some are not, and attempting to refill them can damage the device and void the warranty.

Nicotine strength guidance: is 20mg the right choice?

Choosing the correct nicotine strength is the most important decision you make with a nic salt. A strength that is too high is unpleasant and can cause nausea, dizziness, headaches and a racing heart. One that is too low leaves cravings unmet, which pushes some people to use more liquid or to go back to smoking. Here is a plain guide.

  • 20mg/ml (this product). The top strength in UK retail. It suits people who smoke around 10 or more cigarettes a day, or who smoke their first cigarette within a short time of waking, and who want to switch fully to vaping.
  • 10mg/ml. A moderate strength suited to lighter smokers, those who are stepping down, or people who find 20mg too strong. If you vape a lot of liquid in a pod kit, 10mg may still deliver enough.
  • Below 10mg. Used by people who are tapering or who primarily vape for the habit and taste rather than the nicotine.

How you vape also matters. Frequent, long draws deliver more nicotine than occasional short ones. If you are an experienced vaper who takes big puffs, 20mg can be strong. If you are a smoker who takes small, frequent hits from a pod, 20mg may feel just right.

Some warning signs that your strength is too high include a persistent dizzy or light-headed feeling, nausea, an unpleasant burning in the throat and a pounding heart after vaping. If that happens, stop, drink water and switch to a lower strength. Signs it may be too low include constant cravings, chain vaping and still reaching for cigarettes.

Do not use more than one nicotine product at once without thinking about total intake. If you smoke and vape in the same day, the combined nicotine is higher than you may realise. And if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or take regular medication, speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using any nicotine product. The UK has free local stop smoking services that can offer advice if you want to quit nicotine altogether.

This product is not a smoking cessation aid and we make no health claims for it. It is a legal nicotine product for adults who choose to use one.

Who this suits, and who should skip it

Being honest about who a product is for is part of choosing well. This one has a clear audience and a few groups who should look elsewhere.

Likely a good fit:

  • Adult smokers who want to move to a refillable pod kit and need a high-strength liquid to make the switch.
  • Existing nic salt vapers who like menthol and want a 10ml bottle for refilling.
  • People moving from single-use vapes, now banned for sale across Great Britain since 1 June 2025, who have bought a refillable kit and need a liquid to go with it.
  • Vapers who prefer a simple, single flavour over sweet or dessert blends.
  • Anyone who wants a compact bottle that can be carried in a bag alongside a pod kit.

Probably not for you:

  • Anyone under 18. It is illegal to sell nicotine products to under-18s in the UK, and we do not.
  • Non-smokers and people who do not use nicotine. Nicotine is addictive, and there is no reason to start.
  • Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, or who has a heart condition, unless advised by a doctor.
  • People who find strong menthol harsh. If cooling sensations bother you, a fruit or tobacco flavour may suit you better.
  • Sub-ohm tank users. A 20mg liquid is far too strong for high-wattage direct-to-lung setups.
  • Anyone who wants a ready-made, no-fuss device. You need a refillable kit and a basic understanding of filling it.

Think of it as a tool for a specific job. If you are a smoker looking for a manageable way to switch, a 20mg nic salt in a pod kit is a commonly used route. If you are not that person, a different product will serve you better.

How to use and fill your device

If you have not refilled a pod before, the process is quick once you have done it twice. Follow the steps below and consult the instructions that came with your device, which take priority if they differ.

  • Step one: switch off and prepare. Make sure the device is not firing, and work over a tray or kitchen roll in case of drips.
  • Step two: open the pod. Remove the pod or cartridge from the device. Find the fill port, which is usually a small rubber bung or a sliding cover.
  • Step three: fill slowly. Hold the bottle upright over the port and squeeze gently. Avoid filling past the maximum line, and avoid blocking the central airflow tube, which causes leaks.
  • Step four: close up. Press the bung or cover back into place and wipe the pod.
  • Step five: prime. Wait five to ten minutes so the coil soaks up the liquid. A freshly changed coil benefits from the full ten minutes.
  • Step six: first puffs. Take two or three gentle, short puffs without inhaling deeply, then settle into your normal rhythm.

For the draw itself, a mouth-to-lung style works best. Draw slowly into your mouth over two to four seconds, pause briefly, then inhale. If your device has adjustable airflow, start with it tighter, which is typical for nic salts, and open it up a little if the draw feels too restrictive.

Some tips for looking after liquid and kit:

  • Keep the bottle capped and upright between fills.
  • Do not mix different liquids in the same pod without cleaning it first, since the flavours muddy and the coil lasts less well.
  • Do not top up a pod that is nearly empty with a different strength, which makes it hard to know what you are inhaling.
  • Wash your hands after filling. Wipe any spilled liquid with a damp cloth.
  • Rinse empty pods only if the maker says it is safe, and always let them dry fully.

Never decant nicotine liquid into drinks bottles or unlabelled containers. Nicotine liquid looks harmless, and swallowing it can be dangerous for a child or pet. Store it where you store medicines and household chemicals, not in a drawer where a child might find it.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with a nic salt come down to the coil, the fill or the wattage. Here are the usual culprits and what to do about them.

  • Dry or burnt taste. Usually a coil that has not been primed or is worn out. Leave the pod to soak for ten minutes, take shorter puffs and, if the taste does not clear, change the coil. Never keep vaping a burnt coil, because the vapour is unpleasant and can irritate your throat.
  • Gurgling or spitting. Too much liquid in the airway or condensation inside the pod. Blow gently back through the mouthpiece to clear it, wipe it and check you did not overfill.
  • Leaking. Common causes are overfilling, a loose or damaged pod, or a mismatch between pod and device. Check the seal on the pod, clean the contacts and fill to a lower level next time.
  • Weak flavour or no cooling. Often a worn coil, but also check the liquid level. If the coil is fine, try a short break from menthol, since your taste may be fatigued.
  • Harsh throat hit. Try lowering the wattage, taking shorter draws or switching to a lower nicotine strength. If 20mg is too strong, step down to 10mg.
  • Device not firing. Check the battery charge, make sure the pod is seated properly and clean the contacts with a dry cotton bud. If a light flashes in a pattern, check the device manual for the meaning.
  • Sticky residue on the device. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it. Do not use solvents.
  • Cloudy or darkened liquid. Liquid may darken a little with age or heat, which is normal. If it smells or tastes strange, stop using it.

For storage, keep the bottle in a cool, dark place. Heat and light speed up degradation, and an opened bottle is best used within a few months. Unopened bottles generally keep for a good while if stored properly, and the batch information on the label helps you keep track.

If you have a persistent problem that these steps do not solve, check the device manufacturer's instructions or contact us with the details, including your device model, and we will do our best to help.

Value for money, honest comparisons and UK rules

To judge the cost, divide the current price shown on this page by ten to get the cost per millilitre, then compare that with your pod kit usage. Because we do not want to quote a price here that may change, we have left the figure to the product listing. What we can do is explain how the economics tend to work against other options.

Versus single-use vapes. Disposables are now banned for sale across Great Britain, but even before the ban, a refillable setup was usually cheaper over time. A 10ml bottle replaces what used to be several disposable devices, and you reuse the kit and only replace coils. The trade-off is that refilling takes a little learning and carries a small risk of spills.

Versus freebase liquids. Freebase e-liquids are typically sold in larger bottles and suit sub-ohm kits at lower nicotine strengths. They can cost less per millilitre but are not designed for 20mg in a small pod. If you run a low-powered device, nic salt is the natural choice.

Versus other menthol nic salts. There are many menthol nic salts on the market, and we will not pretend this is the only reasonable option. Differences come down to how strong the cooling is, how much sweetness sits underneath and how the base is balanced. If you already have a menthol you like, this is an alternative worth trying in a single bottle rather than a reason to switch. If you are new to menthol, this is a straightforward place to begin because it has no competing fruit notes.

Versus prefilled pods. Prefilled pods are convenient and cleaner but usually cost more per millilitre and limit your flavour choice. Bottled liquid gives you more flexibility and generally better value if you are happy to fill your own.

  • Where it offers good value: regular pod users who want flexibility and a lower cost per millilitre.
  • Where it offers less: very occasional vapers, who may find a sealed pod simpler.

UK rules to be aware of. Nicotine e-liquid is limited to 20mg/ml and bottles to 10ml, tanks to 2ml, and products must carry a health warning and child-resistant packaging. Sales are restricted to adults aged 18 and over. Please recycle responsibly. Empty bottles go in household plastic recycling where your council accepts them, while pods, coils, batteries and devices belong at a vape or battery recycling drop-off point. Never put lithium batteries in your normal bin.

Frequently asked questions

Is 20mg the right nicotine strength for me?

It suits adult smokers who smoke around 10 or more cigarettes a day and want to move to a pod kit. If you smoke less, or you find the hit too strong or feel dizzy or sick, a 10mg nic salt is a better starting point. 20mg is the highest strength allowed in the UK, so there is no stronger option.

Do I need to charge this e-liquid?

No. The bottle has no battery, because it is a refill liquid. The battery belongs to your pod kit, which you charge over USB-C using the cable supplied. Charge it in a safe place, do not leave it unattended and recycle old batteries at a drop-off point rather than in your normal bin.

Will it work in my device?

It works best in pod kits and small mouth-to-lung tanks with coils of roughly 0.6 to 1.2 ohm running at low wattage. It is not suitable for sub-ohm tanks, as 20mg is far too strong for high-power use. Check your device manual and make sure the pod is refillable before you buy.

Does it come in other flavours?

The Double Brew nic salt range and the wider Double brand include other flavours as well as this menthol. Flavour availability changes over time, so check the brand page for the current list. Using a different flavour in the same pod works best after rinsing the pod and fitting a new coil.

How long does a 10ml bottle last?

It varies with your habits and device. A moderate pod user might get through 1ml to 3ml a day, which puts a 10ml bottle at roughly three to ten days. Heavier use is quicker and lighter use is slower. Your coil life will also affect how much liquid you waste.

Is it good value compared with disposables or prefilled pods?

Refillable use is usually cheaper per millilitre than prefilled pods, and single-use vapes can no longer be sold across Great Britain. To work out your cost, divide the price on this page by ten for the cost per millilitre and compare it with how much you use. It is less convenient than a sealed pod, so it suits regular vapers best.

Who should not buy this?

Anyone under 18, non-smokers, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding and anyone with a heart condition unless a doctor has advised otherwise should not use it. It also does not suit people who dislike strong cooling flavours or who use sub-ohm tanks. Nicotine is addictive and this product is for adult smokers and vapers only.

How do I stop my pod leaking after a fill?

Fill slowly, stay below the maximum line and keep the central airflow tube clear. Press the bung firmly back in, wipe the pod dry and let it rest for five to ten minutes before use. If it keeps leaking, the pod seal may be worn, so try a new pod or coil.

Do you deliver across the UK?

We deliver to UK addresses, and nicotine products are only sold to adults aged 18 and over. Delivery options and timescales are shown at checkout, and an adult may be asked to confirm their age. Contact us if you have a question about a specific postcode or a delay on your order.

What if my bottle arrives damaged or the seal is broken?

Do not use it. Contact us as soon as you can with your order number and a photo of the problem, and we will arrange a replacement or refund for faulty or damaged goods. Because e-liquid is a sealed consumable, opened bottles cannot normally be returned unless faulty.

Great product for the price point. Works exactly as advertised. No surprises, just a solid vape.

Great battery life

Not too strong, not too mild — just right. Good for all day use without being overpowering.
