Overview: what JNP Bar Salt Nic Salts 10ml is

JNP Bar Salt Nic Salts 10ml is a nicotine salt e-liquid supplied in a 10ml bottle. It is made for adult smokers and vapers who like the quick, smooth nicotine hit of a disposable-style vape but would rather refill a pod kit or small refillable device themselves. The word Bar in the name points to the flavour style: bright, instantly recognisable profiles tuned for compact, low-wattage hardware rather than large sub-ohm tanks.

Ten millilitres is the largest bottle of nicotine e-liquid you can legally buy in the UK, so this is the standard full-size format for nic salts. In practical terms, 10ml is roughly the same amount of liquid found in five typical 2ml disposable vapes, and in most pod devices it translates to somewhere in the region of 2,000 to 3,000 puffs depending on your draw length, power setting and coil condition. Since the sale of single-use vapes was banned in the UK in June 2025, refillable pod systems and bottled salts have become the main route for people who want that same convenience with less waste.

Here is a quick snapshot of what you are buying:

  • Format: 10ml plastic dropper-style bottle with a child-resistant, tamper-evident cap.
  • Type: nicotine salt e-liquid, not freebase.
  • Strengths: the Bar Salt range is generally offered in 10mg/ml and 20mg/ml. The product page shows exactly which strengths and flavours are in stock today.
  • UK limit: 20mg/ml (2%) is the legal maximum nicotine strength for e-liquids sold in the UK, and nothing in this range goes above it.
  • Best suited to: pod kits and refillable devices using coils of roughly 0.6 to 1.2 ohm, in mouth-to-lung or restricted direct-to-lung style.
  • Not suited to: high-wattage sub-ohm tanks, and never for refilling sealed single-use devices.

This page walks through how the liquid behaves, how to choose a strength, what hardware pairs well with it, how to look after your device and what to do when something goes wrong. We have also included a straight comparison with other 10ml salt ranges so you can decide whether it is the right fit for you, or whether another bottle would suit you better.

Why nic salts, and what a bar-style salt actually means

Nicotine salts use nicotine that has been bound with an organic acid, most commonly benzoic acid. The practical effect is that the nicotine feels much smoother in the throat at the strengths people usually want from a pod device. Freebase nicotine, the form used in most 3mg to 6mg e-liquids and 50ml shortfill mixes, is alkaline and becomes noticeably rough above roughly 6 or 7mg/ml. A salt lets you vape at 10mg or 20mg/ml without that scratchy, coughing sensation.

Salts are also absorbed into the body faster than freebase nicotine, which is why many people who struggle to stay off cigarettes find them more satisfying. That quick delivery is the reason salts dominate the disposable market and the reason they pair so well with small, low-power pod kits. You take a few gentle draws, get the nicotine you are looking for, and put the device down.

A bar-style salt is simply a salt formulated to taste like the flavour profiles made popular by disposable bars. In general that means:

  • Fruit-forward flavours with a clear top note, a sweet body and a clean finish.
  • Frequent use of cooling agents, so many variants have an ice or menthol edge.
  • A flavour concentration pitched higher than you would find in a traditional 3mg e-liquid, because small coils vaporise less liquid per puff and need stronger flavour to compensate.
  • A viscosity that wicks quickly through the thin cotton or mesh in pod coils.

Two things are worth stating plainly. First, nicotine is addictive, and salts make it easy to take in a lot of it quickly. If you do not currently smoke or vape, this product is not for you. Second, vaping is widely considered far less harmful than smoking, but it is not risk-free, and the aim for most adult users should be to move away from cigarettes entirely and, if possible, to reduce nicotine over time.

Flavour profile and what to expect

The JNP Bar Salt range is sold in several flavours, and the variant selector on this page lists everything currently available. Rather than guess at individual recipes, it is more useful to explain how bar-style salts tend to behave in the mouth, so you can pick a variant with confidence.

Inhale. The first thing you notice on the draw is the top note. In fruit flavours this is usually the sweet, juicy part of the profile: berry, citrus, tropical or candy. In menthol-leaning variants it is the cool sensation hitting the roof of the mouth.

Body. As the vapour moves across your tongue you get the heart of the recipe. Bar-style liquids use a layered build, so a two or three-fruit blend should read as distinct fruits rather than one muddy flavour. Sweetness is generally moderate to high. If you prefer dry or tobacco-forward liquids, a sweet bar-style salt may feel too sugary.

Exhale. The finish is where cooling agents and sweeteners show up. Ice variants leave a clean, cold sensation that fades within a few seconds. Non-ice variants tend to finish soft and slightly sweet.

A few things influence how the flavour comes across, none of which are about the liquid itself:

  • Power and temperature. Low to moderate power gives the cleanest flavour. Pushing the wattage up can flatten delicate fruit notes and bring out a harsher, hotter taste.
  • Coil age. A fresh coil gives the truest flavour. Sweet liquids leave residue on the cotton, so the taste dulls over days or weeks. This is normal and not a sign the liquid is faulty.
  • Vape tongue. If you vape the same sweet flavour all day, your palate fades to it. Switching to something different for an hour usually brings the flavour back.
  • Steeping. Letting a new bottle rest upright for a day or two can slightly smooth the profile, but salts are made to be ready to use straight away.

If you are unsure which variant to choose, start with a single bottle of the flavour family you already enjoy, whether that is fruit, ice or sweet, and judge it over a few days before committing to a second bottle.

Nicotine strength guidance: 10mg or 20mg

Choosing the right strength matters more than most people realise. Too weak and you end up chain vaping to chase the nicotine; too strong and you get dizziness, nausea and a harsh throat hit. In the UK the ceiling is 20mg/ml, and for salts the useful range is usually 10mg to 20mg.

20mg/ml (2%) is the usual starting point for people who are switching away from cigarettes and:

  • smoke around ten or more cigarettes a day, or roll-ups of similar intensity;
  • smoke their first cigarette within thirty minutes of waking;
  • used to use 20mg disposables and want the same strength in a refillable format;
  • find that lower strengths leave them reaching for a cigarette.

10mg/ml (1%) suits people who:

  • smoked lightly, or only socially, before switching;
  • have already cut down and want to keep stepping the strength down;
  • vape very frequently through the day, where 20mg can feel like too much;
  • use a higher-powered pod device that produces a larger vapour volume per puff.

A useful rule of thumb is to match the strength to how much vapour your device makes. A small, restricted-draw pod kit delivers little vapour per puff, so 20mg is often comfortable. A bigger, airier device delivers more nicotine per puff, so 10mg can feel equivalent.

Signs the strength is too high include light-headedness, a racing heartbeat, nausea, sweating or an unpleasant tightness in the throat. If you notice any of these, stop vaping, drink some water and consider moving down a strength. Signs it is too low include taking very frequent puffs, getting cravings between sessions and finding that you still want a cigarette. Everyone is different, so treat the first bottle as a trial.

If you want to quit nicotine entirely, local NHS stop smoking services offer free support and can advise on stepping down in a structured way. Combining a vape with that support improves your chances of stopping smoking compared with going it alone.

VG and PG balance, throat hit and vapour

E-liquid is made up of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavouring and nicotine. The ratio of PG to VG shapes how the liquid feels, how much vapour it makes and how well it works in different devices. Nic salts for pod kits are usually formulated in a balanced or slightly PG-leaning ratio, because thinner liquid wicks better in small coils. The exact ratio is printed on the bottle label for your chosen flavour, so check it when it arrives rather than relying on an assumption.

In a pod-friendly salt like this one, you can generally expect:

  • Throat hit: light to medium at 10mg, medium at 20mg. Salts feel far smoother than freebase at equal strength, but 20mg still delivers a clear, satisfying hit that many ex-smokers look for.
  • Vapour volume: modest. Salts are about flavour and nicotine delivery, not clouds. You will see a visible but compact plume rather than a thick billow.
  • Mouthfeel: light and clean. The liquid is thinner than a high-VG shortfill, which is why it flows well into small pod wicks.
  • Coil cleanliness: thinner liquids with a good PG share tend to gunk coils less quickly than very sweet, high-VG blends, though sweeteners still leave some residue over time.

It is also worth being clear about what not to do. Nic salts are not designed for high-wattage sub-ohm tanks. Pushing a 20mg salt through a 0.2 ohm coil at 60 watts delivers an enormous amount of nicotine with every puff and will almost certainly be uncomfortable, harsh and wasteful. Likewise, do not mix salts into freebase shortfills to make your own blends unless you know exactly what you are doing and are staying within legal limits, since the final nicotine strength must not exceed 20mg/ml.

If you want large clouds and a deep, throaty draw, this is the wrong tool. If you want a tight, flavourful and satisfying puff from a small device, the vapour profile of a bar-style salt is exactly right.

Coil and mesh technology: matching the liquid to the hardware

The best-tasting salt in the world will taste poor in the wrong coil. This liquid is designed for small pod and refillable systems with coils in the 0.6 to 1.2 ohm range, typically run between roughly 8 and 15 watts. Here is how the common coil types behave with a bar-style salt.

  • Mesh coils (0.6 to 1.0 ohm). Mesh spreads the heating surface over a wide area, giving even vaporisation and strong flavour. This is the format used in most modern disposables, so it is the closest match to the experience this liquid was built for. Mesh handles sweet, thin liquids well and gives consistent flavour for most of the coil life.
  • Ceramic coils. Ceramic wicks are stable and resist burning, and they can give a clean, slightly muted flavour. They suit people who value long coil life over maximum flavour intensity.
  • Standard cotton wire coils (around 0.8 to 1.2 ohm). These give a tighter, more cigarette-like draw and work especially well with 20mg salts. Flavour is good, though not quite as broad as mesh.
  • Higher resistance coils (1.2 ohm and above). Excellent for mouth-to-lung vaping at low power. They use liquid slowly and are very comfortable at 20mg.

When choosing a device, check whether it has adjustable airflow. A tighter draw suits first-time switchers and 20mg users; a looser draw suits 10mg users who want more vapour. If the device is fixed-power, it will usually be tuned to a safe range for salts already.

Coil life depends on how much you vape, your power setting and how sweet the liquid is. As a general guide, a pod coil running a sweet salt lasts roughly one to two weeks of regular use, and one 10ml bottle will often take you through between two and four coils. Replace the coil when you notice a burnt or flat taste, reduced vapour, or a crackling sound that does not clear after priming. Waiting too long wastes liquid and can bring harsh flavours.

Always buy coils that are specifically made for your device. Mismatched coils can leak, misfire or overheat.

Battery, charging and power settings

The e-liquid itself does not need charging, of course, but the device it goes into does, and battery management has a big effect on how well any salt performs. Most pod kits that suit this liquid have built-in batteries in the 400mAh to 1,000mAh range, and many include USB-C charging.

As a rough illustration, a 600mAh battery stores about 2.2 watt-hours. At 10 to 12 watts and typical three-second puffs, that works out to somewhere around 250 to 400 puffs per charge in everyday use, depending on efficiency. A 1,000mAh battery can stretch that to roughly 500 to 700 puffs. These are estimates and not guarantees, because real-world use varies with temperature, coil condition and draw length.

Because a 2ml pod holds around 500 to 700 puffs of salt nic, a small-battery device may need a charge or two for every pod you finish. That is entirely normal for pod systems.

Good charging habits protect both the battery and your safety:

  • Use the cable supplied with the device, or a good quality USB-C cable and a standard 5V charger.
  • Charge on a hard, non-flammable surface and not under a pillow, on a sofa or in a bag.
  • Do not leave the device charging unattended for long periods, and avoid charging overnight.
  • Do not use a device with a damaged casing, swollen battery, or a cracked or frayed cable.
  • Keep devices out of hot cars and direct sunlight, which can damage lithium cells and promote leaking.

Power settings matter for the liquid. If your device has adjustable wattage, start at the low end of the coil's recommended range. Salts flavour best at lower power, and you will get more life out of the coil and the bottle. Raising the power increases vapour but also increases nicotine delivery and liquid consumption.

When the device reaches the end of its life, do not put it in household rubbish or general recycling. Batteries can cause fires in collection vehicles and waste facilities. Take vapes, pods with batteries and chargers to a household recycling centre, a battery drop-off point in most large supermarkets, or back to a retailer that offers a take-back service. Many shops that sell vaping products are required to accept used electrical items, so ask when you buy your next coil or bottle.

Bottle design, build quality and filling

Packaging is regulated for nicotine products, and the 10ml bottle in this range follows the UK format you would expect. You get a plastic bottle with a narrow nozzle, a child-resistant and tamper-evident closure, and a label that carries the required nicotine health warning, ingredients, strength, batch information and a best-before date.

What this means in use:

  • Narrow tip. The thin nozzle is built to fit the small fill ports on pod cartridges. Squeeze gently to avoid flooding the port.
  • Soft, squeezable plastic. This gives you control over each drop, which matters with a small 2ml pod. Over-squeezing is the commonest cause of mess.
  • Child-resistant cap. It takes a deliberate push-and-turn to open. That can feel stiff the first time, but it is there for a good reason. Keep every bottle well away from children and pets, because nicotine liquid is toxic if swallowed or absorbed through the skin.
  • Tamper-evident seal. Check it is intact when your order arrives. If it is broken, contact us before using the bottle.

To fill a pod, turn the device off, remove the pod or open the fill port, tilt it slightly and add liquid slowly, stopping just below the fill line. Do not fill the pod to the very top. Leave a small air gap so that pressure changes do not force liquid into the airflow channel. Wipe off any spills with a tissue before reinserting.

UK rules also limit the tank or pod size on refillable devices to 2ml, which is why 10ml bottles are the standard size for refills.

Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place, away from heat and sunlight. Properly stored, a sealed salt keeps its flavour and strength for well over a year; check the best-before date on the label. Once opened, try to use the bottle within several months, and keep the cap closed tightly. Wash your hands if you get liquid on your skin, and rinse the area thoroughly with water.

Empty bottles still contain trace nicotine. Check your local council guidance: some accept clean empty plastic bottles in household recycling, while others ask for them to be disposed of with general waste. Do not pour unused liquid down the drain.

Who this e-liquid is for, and who should skip it

JNP Bar Salt Nic Salts 10ml is aimed at a clear group of adult users. It is a good match if you:

  • are an adult smoker looking to switch to vaping, and want a smooth, satisfying 10mg or 20mg liquid;
  • currently use or used to use disposable vapes, and are moving to a refillable pod kit after the single-use ban;
  • already own a compatible pod device and want a flavour-forward liquid that gives you a disposable-like experience;
  • want to keep an eye on cost and waste by refilling rather than replacing the whole device;
  • prefer a compact, discreet vapour profile over big clouds.

It is less suitable for these groups:

  • Anyone under 18. It is illegal to sell nicotine products to under-18s in the UK, and age checks apply when ordering and on delivery.
  • Non-smokers and never-vapers. Nicotine is addictive and you have nothing to gain from starting.
  • Sub-ohm and cloud chasers. If you run 50 to 100 watt devices, you want a high-VG, low-nicotine liquid, not a salt.
  • People who like tobacco or dessert flavours exclusively. Bar-style fruit and ice flavours are not for everybody.
  • People who are pregnant, breastfeeding or who have heart conditions. Speak to your GP, pharmacist or midwife before using any nicotine product. Your local stop smoking service can advise on options.

If you are not sure whether a salt is the right product for you, or you want to quit nicotine altogether, ask your pharmacist or NHS stop smoking service. They can discuss options including patches, gum and structured support, which can be used alongside or instead of vaping.

How to use it: filling, priming and getting the most from each pod

Using a nic salt well is mostly a matter of good habits. Follow these steps with a new bottle and a new coil.

  • Check compatibility. Make sure your device accepts bottled refills and is designed for a coil resistance in the range described above. Never attempt to open or refill a sealed single-use device.
  • Fill carefully. With the device turned off, add liquid slowly into the fill port until the pod is just under full. Avoid getting liquid into the central air tube.
  • Prime the coil. This is the most important step for a new coil. Let the filled pod sit upright for five to ten minutes so the cotton or mesh soaks through. If the coil has exposed wicking holes, a drop or two on the cotton helps speed things up.
  • Take gentle first puffs. Take two or three slow draws without firing the device, to pull liquid through the coil. Then start at low power.
  • Use a smooth, slow draw. Two to three seconds per puff is plenty with salts. Long, hard pulls overheat the coil and waste nicotine.
  • Pace yourself. Because salts absorb quickly, you do not need constant puffing. Take a few puffs, wait, and see how you feel.
  • Top up before it runs dry. Letting the pod empty fully damages coils. Refill when the liquid is about a quarter full.

When changing flavours, remove the pod and replace the coil if you want a perfectly clean taste. Rinsing the pod body with warm water and letting it dry fully helps too, but the coil keeps the old flavour, so a swap is the best option.

As for strength, give any new bottle a day or two before judging it. Your palate and your nicotine tolerance adjust, and it is common to find the first few puffs punchy and then settle in.

Keep a spare coil and a small tissue in your bag. A little preparation prevents most of the common problems covered in the next section.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most issues with salts come down to the device, the coil or the way the pod was filled. Here are the usual culprits and what to do.

  • Leaking from the pod. Often caused by overfilling, a loose pod seat, a worn seal or a sudden change in temperature or pressure, such as taking a vape on a flight. Fill to just under the line, wipe the connections and replace the pod if leaks persist.
  • Gurgling or spitting. Condensation or excess liquid in the airflow channel. Remove the pod, blow gently through the mouthpiece and wipe the area dry.
  • Dry hit or burnt taste. The coil is not getting enough liquid. Check the liquid level, let the pod prime for longer, lower the power and take shorter puffs. If the burnt taste continues after a fresh priming, the coil is spent and needs replacing.
  • Weak flavour. Usually an old coil or vape tongue. Replace the coil, or take a break from sweet flavours for a short time.
  • Throat hit too harsh. Lower the power, slow your draw, or switch from 20mg to 10mg.
  • Not enough nicotine. If you keep craving cigarettes, consider moving up to 20mg, or check that your device is delivering enough vapour with each draw.
  • No vapour at all. Check the battery, make sure the pod is seated correctly, confirm the airflow is not blocked and that liquid has reached the coil.
  • Sticky bottle or cap. Salts are sweet and can crystallise slightly around the nozzle. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth, then dry it.
  • Colour change. A slight darkening over time is normal for nicotine liquids. Only discard the bottle if it smells wrong or has separated.

If the device appears faulty, for example it will not charge, becomes hot or the battery looks swollen, stop using it right away and follow the manufacturer's guidance. Never try to repair or open a lithium battery.

Value for money and honest comparisons

Value is easiest to judge by cost per puff, and this is where bottled salts compare favourably against single-use products. A 2ml disposable holds roughly 600 puffs and, with the ban in place, is no longer an option in UK shops. A 10ml salt bottle holds the equivalent of about five of those, and you reuse the same device. Add the cost of a coil or two and the cost per puff is typically lower than the throwaway alternative, as well as being more sustainable.

Compared with other popular 10ml salt ranges, here is a fair summary:

  • Elfliq. Produced by the team behind a well-known disposable brand, so the flavours are closely aligned with the disposable bar profile. The brand recognition is strong. If you want to recreate a specific disposable's taste, Elfliq may be closer; if you want a broader or more varied range at a competitive price point, JNP is worth a look.
  • IVG Salts. A long-running range with a very wide flavour catalogue, widely available and well regarded. Likely the better pick if you want the largest selection or sometimes mix and match flavours.
  • Dinner Lady Salts. Known for dessert and fruit blends with distinctive recipes. Often priced a little higher, but a strong choice if you like richer flavours.
  • Nasty Salt. Popular for bold, sharp fruit and ice flavours. A good comparison point for people who like a stronger cooling effect.
  • Hayati and similar bar-focused ranges. Strong on big, sweet flavour. Check the strength and VG/PG ratio of each, since they can vary.

Where JNP Bar Salt tends to make sense is as a straightforward, bar-style salt for everyday refilling. It suits people who want a simple, dependable liquid in a standard bottle without paying for celebrity branding. Where other ranges may be better is if you want a specific, well-known flavour, a very large selection, or a different category entirely, such as tobacco or custard liquids.

On value, the key points are these. Match the strength to your needs so you are not overusing nicotine. Keep the power low so the bottle lasts longer. Replace coils on time so you are not wasting liquid on a dead wick. And buy the flavour you will actually enjoy vaping all the way to the bottom of the bottle. Used sensibly, one 10ml bottle will typically last a regular user between one and three weeks.

Overall, JNP Bar Salt Nic Salts 10ml is a sensible, practical choice for adult smokers moving to refillable pod devices. It is not the only option, and it does not claim to be, but it does what it is designed to do, at a price that works out well when compared with single-use alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose 10mg or 20mg?

If you smoke around ten or more cigarettes a day, or you are moving from a 20mg disposable, 20mg is the usual starting point. If you smoked lightly, vape very frequently or use a higher-powered device, 10mg is often more comfortable. The UK maximum is 20mg/ml, so you can never buy anything stronger.

How long does a 10ml bottle last?

It depends on how much you vape, but a regular user typically gets between one and three weeks from a bottle. In a pod device that works out at roughly 2,000 to 3,000 puffs, which is about the same as five 2ml disposables. Lower power settings and a fresh coil make it last longer.

Does the liquid need charging, and how do I charge my device?

The e-liquid does not need charging, but your device does. Most pod kits that suit this liquid charge by USB-C in around thirty to sixty minutes. Use the supplied cable, charge on a hard surface, do not leave it charging overnight, and stop using the device if the battery looks swollen or damaged.

Can I use it in a disposable vape or a sub-ohm tank?

No. You should never open or refill a sealed single-use device. Nic salts are also not designed for sub-ohm tanks running at high wattage, because the nicotine hit would be far too strong and harsh. Use it in pod kits and small refillable devices with roughly 0.6 to 1.2 ohm coils.

Can I swap flavours or mix different bottles?

You can swap flavours whenever you like, but the old taste lingers in the coil, so changing the coil gives you the cleanest result. We do not recommend mixing different liquids in the same pod, as the nicotine strength and VG/PG ratio can become unclear. If you want variety, buy a second bottle and rotate between them.

Is this better value than a disposable vape?

In most cases, yes. One 10ml bottle holds about the same liquid as five 2ml disposables, and you reuse one device with replacement coils. Single-use vapes have also been banned for sale in the UK since June 2025, so refillable pods are the realistic option anyway.

Who should not buy this product?

It is only for adults aged 18 or over who already smoke or vape. Non-smokers, people under 18, and anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or has a heart condition should avoid it or speak to a healthcare professional first. If you want to stop nicotine altogether, the NHS stop smoking service offers free support.

How do I recycle the bottle and my old vape?

Never put vapes, pods with batteries or chargers in household bins. Take them to a council recycling centre, a supermarket battery drop-off point or a retailer take-back scheme. For empty e-liquid bottles, check your local council guidance, as some accept clean plastic and others ask for general waste.

Do you deliver across the UK, and are there age checks?

We deliver to addresses across the UK. Delivery options and estimated times are shown at checkout. Because this is a nicotine product, you must be 18 or over, and age verification may be required both at checkout and on delivery.

What if my bottle arrives damaged, or I have a problem with it?

Check the tamper-evident seal and bottle as soon as it arrives. If it is leaking, damaged or the seal is broken, contact our customer service team promptly with a photo and your order number. For hygiene and safety reasons, opened e-liquid generally cannot be returned unless it is faulty, but we will always put genuine problems right under our returns policy.
