OXVA Tasteflex SL 12K Prefilled Pods at a glance

OXVA Tasteflex SL 12K Prefilled Pods are replacement pods for the Tasteflex SL 12K kit, rated by the manufacturer at 12,000 puffs and sold here from £4.99. They arrive already filled with nicotine salt liquid, so there is no bottle to open and no coil to prime by hand. You click the pod in, wait a minute, and vape. That simplicity is the whole pitch, and it explains why prefilled formats have become the default for a lot of adults who are tired of fiddling with refillable tanks.

It helps to be clear about what this listing is and what it is not. It is a consumable. The pod holds the liquid, the wick and the heating element, and it only works when seated in a compatible Oxva device. If you do not yet own the hardware, start with the wider Oxva range, which brings the brand's kits, replacement pods and accessories together, and make sure the device you choose is the one these pods were built for.

Oxva is best known in the UK for pocket-sized pod systems that favour reliability over gimmicks. The Tasteflex SL line carries that approach into the high-puff category: a sealed, click-in pod for people who want long-lasting flavour without managing liquid themselves. The 12,000 figure is a manufacturer rating, so treat it as a ceiling to plan around rather than a promise. How quickly a pod runs down depends on how long you draw, how often you vape and which nicotine strength you pick.

The listing offers two strengths, 10mg and 20mg, and the range runs to twelve flavours, from Fresh Mint through to Watermelon Strawberry. You will find the whole family alongside the rest of our prefilled vape pods, which is the quickest way to compare this format with other brands. Everything we sell is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, and age verification applies at checkout.

The rest of this guide covers the practical questions in order: how the pod works, what the flavours are like, who it suits, the numbers, fitting and priming, choosing a strength, pairing it with a device, storage, honest pros and cons, troubleshooting, and delivery. Skip to whichever part answers the question you came with.

How a 12,000 puff prefilled pod actually works

Open up the logic of a prefilled pod and you find three working parts: a sealed reservoir of liquid, a cotton wick that carries that liquid to the heat, and a small coil that does the heating. On a typical draw-activated device, pulling on the mouthpiece triggers the battery, power runs through the contacts on the base of the pod, and the coil warms the saturated wick until the liquid turns to vapour. Stop drawing and the heating stops. Nothing about that is unique to Oxva, but the quality of the wick and coil is what separates a pod that tastes steady for weeks from one that turns harsh early.

The liquid inside is nicotine salt, the formulation most UK pod products use. Nicotine salts are generally smoother on the throat than the older freebase style, which is why they suit compact, low-power hardware. It is also why strengths top out at 20mg, the legal ceiling for nicotine in this country. This listing offers 10mg and 20mg only.

The obvious question is how a pod can promise 12,000 puffs when UK rules limit a refillable pod or tank to 2ml of liquid. The honest answer is that the rating is spread across more than a single fill. Other listings in the Tasteflex SL family are titled as a prefilled pod plus a refill, which suggests the figure covers a pod and its additional liquid rather than one 2ml charge. Check the contents panel on the exact listing you are buying so you know what turns up in the box.

For you as a user, the practical consequences are straightforward:

  • Priming matters, because a dry wick burns and a burnt wick tastes unpleasant for the rest of that pod's life.
  • Flavour fades gradually as residue builds on the coil, so a pod that tastes muted late in its life is behaving normally.
  • Because the heating element is built into the pod, replacing the pod replaces the coil too. There is no rebuilding, no cotton and no cleaning.

If you would like to see how other sealed designs compare, our closed pod kits collection gathers them in one place, with the devices that go with each style of pod.

The twelve flavours in the Tasteflex SL range

Flavour is the one thing you cannot sample before buying a pod, so it pays to think in families rather than names. The Tasteflex SL range currently spans twelve: Blue Razz Cherry, Blueberry Sour Raspberry, Classic Cola, Fresh Mint, Fizzy Cherry, Lemon & Lime, Pink Lemonade, Sour Pineapple Ice, Strawberry Blueberry Cherry, Watermelon Ice, Watermelon Strawberry and White Grape Ice. Each flavour has its own listing, so confirm the one you want is in stock before you check out.

Grouping them makes the choice easier:

  • Fruit blends: Blue Razz Cherry, Blueberry Sour Raspberry, Strawberry Blueberry Cherry and Watermelon Strawberry. Expect layered fruit sweetness, with the sour names hinting at a sharper edge on the finish.
  • Iced fruit: Watermelon Ice, Sour Pineapple Ice and White Grape Ice. The Ice suffix points to a cooling note on the exhale, which suits anyone who likes a chilled hit.
  • Soft drink styles: Classic Cola, Pink Lemonade and Fizzy Cherry. These lean towards sweet, slightly sparkling profiles and tend to be the crowd-pleasers.
  • Fresh and citrus: Fresh Mint and Lemon & Lime. These are the cleanest options if heavy sweetness wears on you quickly.

A word of caution. Manufacturers rarely publish official tasting notes for pods, so the descriptions above are a sensible reading of the flavour names rather than lab-measured profiles. Your own palate will have the final say, and a sour or iced profile can taste quite different from one person to the next.

If you are buying your first pod and have no idea where to start, a mint or lemon and lime profile is the lowest-risk pick, because neither is cloying. If you already know you like sweet vapes, the soft drink styles are the natural entry point. Whatever you choose, it is worth holding a second pod from a different family in reserve. Switching between two contrasting profiles stops palate fatigue, the effect where a flavour you loved on Monday tastes flat by Friday.

Who these pods suit, and who should look elsewhere

The buyer these pods fit best is an adult who already smokes or vapes and wants a low-maintenance routine. If you own a Tasteflex SL device, the case is simple: this is the consumable that keeps it running, and a sealed pod means no spills in a coat pocket and no bottles to carry.

Several groups tend to get on well with the format:

  • Adults moving away from cigarettes who want something that behaves predictably from the first puff, without learning about coils and wicking.
  • Commuters and frequent travellers who would rather swap a pod than carry liquid.
  • People who tried refillable tanks, found the mess tiresome, and want disposable-style convenience without binning a battery each time.
  • Flavour rotators, who like to keep two or three pods in different profiles and switch between them.

Equally, some people should look elsewhere. Nobody under 18 can buy from us, and age verification applies at checkout. Nicotine is addictive, so these pods are not intended for people who do not already use nicotine. If you enjoy mixing your own liquids or adjusting airflow and coil resistance, a refillable setup will frustrate you less than a sealed pod. And if you need a strength below 10mg, this listing will not cover you.

A final point for the undecided. If you would rather buy one self-contained unit with its own battery and have no interest in a rechargeable device, disposable vapes are the more natural fit. They often cost more over time for heavy users, but they ask nothing of you beyond opening the packet. Prefilled pods suit people planning to vape for months rather than days, because the device is a one-off purchase and the pods become the running cost.

Think about your routine honestly before you decide. Someone who vapes a handful of times a day will go through pods slowly and may barely notice the cost. Someone who vapes constantly will be buying replacements more often and should weigh the price per puff against the alternatives covered later in this guide.

Specifications and the numbers that matter

Here is what we can state with confidence about this listing, and nothing more:

  • Brand: Oxva.
  • Format: prefilled replacement pod.
  • Puff rating: up to 12,000, the manufacturer's figure.
  • Nicotine strengths: 10mg and 20mg, in nicotine salt form.
  • Price: from £4.99.
  • In the box: the contents panel lists two prefilled replacement pods in factory-sealed foil, with a compatibility and safety leaflet.

You may notice what is missing. We have not quoted a liquid capacity in millilitres, a coil resistance or a battery size, because the data we hold for this product does not include them. Inventing a figure would be easy and would not help you, so we leave those blank. If a number matters to your decision, check the packaging or ask us through the contact page before ordering.

The puff rating deserves a little arithmetic. Divide £4.99 by 12,000 and you land at roughly 0.04p a puff. That is a best case. If your real-world count comes in nearer 9,000 puffs, which is plausible for someone who takes long, hard draws, the figure rises to about 0.055p. Either way it is a small number, but it shows why the rating is best read as a guide to value rather than a contract.

Context helps too. Products rated at 10000 puffs sit a little below this pod, and those rated at 15000 puffs sit above it, so 12,000 occupies the middle ground between everyday and high-capacity products. If you find yourself running out of puffs well before you expect to, stepping up a tier is easier than it looks, though a higher rating also means a longer wait before you can change flavour.

One last number: the legal maximum nicotine strength for UK pods is 20mg, and the maximum pod or tank size is 2ml. Both are category rules, not details unique to this product, but they explain a lot about how products like this are built.

Fitting, priming and your first few puffs

Start with clean, dry hands, because oil and moisture on the contacts cause more trouble than most people expect. Then work through these steps in order:

  • Peel the seal. Take the pod out of its foil and remove any protective film or plug from the mouthpiece and the base. Do not squeeze the body of the pod while you do it.
  • Click it in. Line the pod up with the device and press until it seats firmly. You should feel or hear it lock. If it will not go in smoothly, stop and check you have the right pod for the right device rather than pushing harder.
  • Wait sixty seconds. This is the step people skip. The wick needs time to soak up liquid, and a fresh coil fired dry will taste scorched.
  • Take two or three gentle puffs. Short, easy draws at first let the wick catch up. The very first pulls may taste a little muted, which is normal.
  • Settle in. After that, vape as you normally would, leaving a few seconds between draws if you take them back to back.

When the flavour fades or the vapour thins, that is your cue to swap pods. Pull the old one straight out rather than levering it sideways, and dispose of it responsibly. A new pod goes through the same sequence of seat, wait and gentle first draws.

Two habits will make each pod last longer and taste better. First, avoid chain vaping. Firing the coil repeatedly without a break dries the wick faster than the liquid can replace itself, which is the main cause of burnt tastes. Second, keep the device upright when it is not in use, so liquid stays where it belongs.

If you are new to vaping altogether, give yourself a few days to adjust. Draw style matters. Most pod systems work best with a slow, mouth-to-lung draw that resembles sipping through a straw, not a hard pull. Our frequently asked questions page answers the common questions about ordering and using the shop, so it is worth a read before your first order arrives.

Choosing between 10mg and 20mg

Nicotine strength is the one choice you cannot adjust after the pod is clicked in, so it deserves thirty seconds of thought. This listing offers 10mg and 20mg, both in nicotine salt form. Salts deliver nicotine more smoothly than older freebase liquids, which means even the higher strength is gentler on the throat than the number might suggest.

The rule of thumb many UK adults use is simple:

  • 20mg is the usual starting point for people coming from a regular cigarette habit, especially anyone who smoked daily. It is also the maximum strength permitted for pods in this country, so nothing legitimate will be stronger.
  • 10mg suits lighter or occasional users, people who already vape lower strengths in other formats, and anyone who finds 20mg too strong. If you take long, frequent draws, the milder strength still gives a satisfying amount of nicotine.

Signs you have chosen too high include dizziness, nausea, a racing feeling or an uncomfortable tightness in the throat. If that happens, stop, drink some water and drop a step next time. Signs you have chosen too low are subtler: you take more draws than usual, chain your puffs, or feel unsatisfied soon after. Neither is a disaster, but both are useful information for your next order.

Strength also changes how fast a pod empties. Someone on 10mg may draw more often to compensate and use the pod faster than someone on 20mg who takes fewer, more satisfying puffs. That is one reason the 12,000 rating can feel generous to one person and optimistic to another.

If neither strength suits, bottled nicotine salt e-liquids for a refillable device give you a wider ladder of strengths to move through. That flexibility is handy if your needs change over time, though a sealed pod remains the simpler route if you know where you stand. Whichever you pick, buy the strength you will actually use, not the one you think you ought to be using, and do not share your pods or devices with anyone else, since nicotine tolerance varies widely between people.

Pairing the pods with a device and keeping it charged

A pod on its own does nothing. The battery, the airflow sensor and the contacts that fire the coil all live in the device, so the pods only make sense alongside the matching hardware. For these pods that means the Tasteflex SL device, the family that gives the range its name. Pods are proprietary. A pod from another brand, or even from another Oxva line, will not necessarily fit, and forcing one in risks damaging both parts. Always match the model name exactly before ordering.

If you are still choosing hardware, our big puff vape kits collection is a good place to compare high-capacity pod systems side by side. Keep an eye on whether a kit is built for sealed pods, refillable pods or both, because that decides what you will be buying every few weeks. A device that takes sealed pods trades flexibility for ease, and one that takes refillable pods does the opposite.

Charging is the part people get wrong most often. Follow the instructions supplied with your device, and keep to the habits that apply to almost any rechargeable vape:

  • Use the cable supplied, or a reputable replacement, rather than a damaged or unbranded lead.
  • Do not charge it under a pillow, on soft furnishings or anywhere you cannot see it, and do not leave it charging unattended overnight.
  • Unplug once it is full instead of leaving it connected for days.
  • Never charge a device that looks swollen, feels hot or has a cracked casing.

We have deliberately not quoted a battery size or a charging time, because the data we hold for these pods does not include them and a guess would not help you. What you can rely on is the general pattern. Battery life depends on how often you vape and for how long, and a device usually outlasts several pods across its working life. When the battery starts to fade noticeably between charges, that is a better signal to replace the device than the number of pods you have used.

Finally, keep the contacts clean. A dry cotton bud or cloth wiped across the connection points now and then prevents the intermittent cutting out that is often blamed on the pod itself.

Storing spare pods and travelling with them

Heat is the enemy of a sealed pod. Leave one on a dashboard or a sunny windowsill and the liquid thins, the flavour dulls and leaks become far more likely. The simplest storage rule is also the best: keep spare pods sealed in their foil until needed, upright, somewhere cool, dark and dry, ideally below around 30 degrees Celsius. A drawer or a bedroom shelf works better than a coat pocket on a warm day.

Once you have fitted a pod, treat it with similar care. Store the device upright when you can, so liquid does not pool against the contacts. Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry cloth if condensation builds up, and keep anything damp away from the electrical contacts at the base. Keep the device and spares out of reach of children and pets, since the liquid contains nicotine.

Travel is where leaks most often appear. Changes in air pressure on a flight can push liquid towards the mouthpiece. Packing a spare pod in a small sealed bag, upright if possible, contains the problem if it does occur. Rules on carrying vapes vary by airline, airport and country, so check before you travel instead of assuming. As a sensible default, carry devices in hand luggage and not the hold, because of the lithium battery inside.

If a long journey means you cannot vape at all, some adults carry nicotine pouches as a discreet stopgap. They have no vapour, no battery and no liquid to leak, which makes them easy to pack. They are still a nicotine product for adults only, and they need to be judged on their own terms rather than treated as a like-for-like swap.

Finally, buy sensibly. Pods are not designed to be stockpiled for years, so a few at a time keeps flavours fresh and gives you a chance to change your mind about a profile. Dispose of finished pods responsibly. Many councils ask for vape waste to be taken to household recycling centres or retailer collection points, rather than put in general bins or kerbside recycling. Never burn pods or devices, and never crush a device, because of the battery.

Honest pros and cons

Every format trades something for something else, and sealed pods are no exception. Here is the balance as we see it, with no sugar coating.

What works in their favour

  • Changing flavour is a click, with no spills and no bottles.
  • A factory-primed coil gives a consistent draw from the first puff.
  • The sealed foil and compact size make them easy to carry and keep.
  • There is nothing to maintain. The coil is part of the pod, so you never rebuild or clean anything.
  • The 12,000 puff rating sits in the upper-middle of what UK pod products advertise, so replacement intervals are long.

What counts against them

  • Cost per millilitre is usually higher than buying bottled e-liquids and refilling your own device.
  • The pods are proprietary and fit only the device family they were built for.
  • Strengths on this listing are limited to 10mg and 20mg, with nothing lower.
  • Puff ratings are manufacturer estimates, and real use may fall short.
  • A used pod is waste that needs sensible disposal, and that adds up over months.

Whether the compromise works depends on what you value. If convenience matters more than squeezing every penny out of each millilitre, sealed pods tend to be a good fit. If you vape heavily and enjoy tinkering, a refillable setup running on bottled liquid generally works out cheaper over a year, and shortfills with nicotine shots let you tune the strength precisely.

There is also an in-between route: use sealed pods for the first few weeks while you learn what flavours and strengths you like, then decide whether the extra work of a refillable system is worth it. Plenty of adults start this way and never feel the need to change, and nobody is obliged to move on. The point is to make the choice with your eyes open, which is why the cons are listed as plainly as the pros.

Troubleshooting a pod that behaves oddly

Most pod problems fall into a handful of familiar categories, and nearly all can be sorted without a replacement.

  • Weak or no vapour. Check the pod is clicked in fully and the contacts are dry and clean. Remove it, reseat it and wait sixty seconds. If the device is low on battery, charge it before blaming the pod.
  • Dry or burnt taste. This usually means the wick has not saturated or the pod is nearly spent. Rest it for a couple of minutes, take shorter, gentler draws and avoid chain vaping. If the taste persists, the pod has probably run its course.
  • Gurgling or spitting. Condensation has gathered in the airway. Wipe the mouthpiece, stand the pod upright for a few minutes and try again with softer draws.
  • Leaking. Heat, pressure changes and rough handling are the usual causes. Wipe the pod and the base of the device dry, store them upright and keep both out of warm places. A pod that leaks heavily straight out of the packet may be faulty.
  • Flavour fade. If a flavour you liked turns dull, it is often palate fatigue rather than a failing pod. Switch to a different family for a day or two and then come back.

Before assuming a fault, check that you are not simply near the end of the pod's life. A pod that has delivered weeks of use and now tastes thin is doing exactly what it should. Equally, check the pod is the correct one for your device. Using a pod that is almost compatible can cause poor contact, leaks and unreliable firing.

If a pod is genuinely faulty, our returns terms say faulty items are replaced free of charge. Take a clear photograph of the problem and of the batch details on the packaging, then get in touch through our contact page with your order number. Do not keep using a pod that is leaking heavily or that makes the device hot, because both are signs something is wrong. Stop, remove the pod and let the device cool before you do anything else.

Most of the time, though, a pod that misbehaves just needs a minute of patience and a cleaner set of contacts.

Delivery, returns and getting the best price

Orders placed before 4pm on a weekday leave us the same day, which is handy when you are down to your last pod. Royal Mail Tracked 24 is free on UK orders over £20 and £1.99 below that threshold. DPD Next Working Day is also offered for those who prefer a courier, with its own pricing shown at checkout. Current rates and cut-off times are always on our shipping page, which is worth checking before you order close to a weekend.

Returns are simple but strict, for good reasons. Unopened, unsealed product can be returned within 14 days. Opened consumables cannot be returned for health and safety reasons, which applies to pods once the foil has been broken. Faulty items are replaced free of charge, so if something is wrong, tell us rather than quietly putting up with it.

On price, the pod is listed from £4.99. A little arithmetic helps here. Four pods at £4.99 come to £19.96, a few pence short of the free-delivery line, so the fifth is the one that tips an order over £20. If you were planning to buy one or two, adding a spare in a contrasting flavour often costs you less than the delivery charge you would otherwise pay on a small order.

Selected prefilled pod packs also carry multibuy pricing from time to time. Rather than relying on a figure that may change, check the current offers on our vape deals page before you finalise a basket. Multibuy prices can shift week by week, and the page always shows what is live today.

A few reassurances to finish. Everything we sell is genuine, UK-compliant stock supplied through distributors, and every order is age-verified at checkout because we sell to adults aged 18 and over only. Orders go out in plain packaging. If you have a question about a flavour, a strength or whether a pod fits your device, we would rather you ask before ordering than guess, because it is far easier to answer a question than to unpick an incorrect order.

What's in the Box?

  • 2 x prefilled replacement pods
  • Factory-sealed foil packaging
  • Compatibility & safety leaflet

How to use

  1. Peel the seal off the pod
  2. Click into your compatible device

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Zero-mess flavour change — snap in, done
  • Consistent draw from a factory-primed coil
  • Long shelf-life, easy to travel with

Cons

  • Costs more per ml than freestanding e-liquid
  • Pods are proprietary to a specific device

Customer Buying Tips

  • Check device compatibility: a pod must match your exact device family (e.g. "Elfa Pro" pods only fit Elfa Pro devices).
  • Store sealed pods upright, below 30 °C — heat and sunlight drain flavour.
  • Rotate flavours: using the same pod flavour back-to-back dulls your palate within a week.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 12K on the Tasteflex SL pods mean?

It is the manufacturer's puff rating, up to 12,000 puffs. Treat it as a guide, not a guarantee. The figure may be spread across more than one fill, and the real number depends on how long and how often you draw, which nicotine strength you choose and how well you prime the pod. Heavy, long draws tend to use a pod faster, while short, gentle puffs stretch it further. Think of 12,000 as the ceiling, then expect real life to land somewhat under it.

Which device do these pods fit?

They are made for the Oxva Tasteflex SL device family. Pods are proprietary, so a pod from another brand, or from a different Oxva line, will not necessarily fit and should not be forced in. Match the model name on the pod to the model name on your device before ordering. If you are not sure what you own, contact our team with a photo of the device and we will help you check before you buy.

Should I choose 10mg or 20mg?

As a rule of thumb, adults coming from regular smoking often start on 20mg, while lighter or occasional users tend to prefer 10mg. 20mg is also the legal maximum for pods in the UK. If you feel dizzy or nauseous after a few puffs, the strength is probably too high for you, so stop and drop a step next time. If you keep chaining puffs without feeling satisfied, it may be too low.

Do I need to prime a new pod?

Yes. After clicking in a fresh pod, wait about sixty seconds so the wick can soak up liquid, then take two or three gentle puffs. Skipping this step is the most common cause of a dry or burnt taste on a brand new pod. The first couple of draws may taste slightly muted, which is normal. If the taste is still harsh after a couple of minutes, rest the device and try again with shorter draws.

How long will one pod last me?

That depends on you. The manufacturer rates it at up to 12,000 puffs, but a person who vapes occasionally will take far longer to finish a pod than someone who vapes all day. Strength matters too, since a milder strength can mean more draws for the same satisfaction. A fading flavour, thinner vapour or a slightly harsh taste are the usual signs a pod is nearly spent.

Why does my pod taste burnt?

A burnt taste usually means the wick is not fully saturated, which can happen if you skipped the sixty second wait, chain vaped, or the pod is close to the end of its life. Rest the device for a couple of minutes and take gentler draws. If the taste returns every time, the pod has probably run its course. A leaking or very hot device is a different problem, so stop using it and contact us.

Can I take these pods on a plane?

Rules on carrying vapes differ between airlines, airports and countries, so check with your carrier before you travel. As a general default, carry devices in hand luggage rather than the hold because of the lithium battery. Keep spare pods upright in a sealed bag to contain any leaks caused by pressure changes, and avoid using the device in places where it is not permitted.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Orders placed before 4pm on a weekday are dispatched the same day. UK delivery by Royal Mail Tracked 24 is free on orders over £20 and costs £1.99 below that. A courier option, DPD Next Working Day, is also available with its own pricing at checkout. Full details and cut-off times are on our shipping page, and every order is age-verified at checkout.

Can I return a pod I have opened?

No. Unopened, unsealed product can be returned within 14 days, but opened consumables cannot be returned for health and safety reasons. If a pod is faulty, we replace it free of charge, so take a clear photo of the problem and the batch details on the packaging and get in touch with your order number. We would rather sort a genuine fault than have you put up with one.

Are these pods suitable for someone who has never smoked?

No. They contain nicotine, which is addictive, and they are intended for adults who already smoke or vape. Nobody under 18 can buy from us, and age verification is applied at checkout. If you do not currently use nicotine, there is no reason to start. If you are an adult smoker thinking about switching, choose the strength that matches your current habit and be ready to adjust.
