PIXL 5000 Puffs Prefilled Pods Mr Blue: Overview

The PIXL 5000 Puffs Prefilled Pods in Mr Blue are replacement pods for the PIXL pod system. Each pod arrives sealed and already filled with e-liquid, so there is nothing to pour, no bottle to carry and no coil to prime by hand. You click the pod into a compatible PIXL battery unit, take a draw and vape. When the liquid is used up you remove the empty pod, fit a new one and carry on using the same battery for as long as it holds charge.

That pod-and-battery split matters more in the UK than it used to. Since the ban on single-use vapes came into force on 1 June 2025, shops can no longer sell throwaway devices, and prefilled pod systems have become one of the main ways adult smokers and existing vapers keep the simplicity of a ready-filled product while producing less waste with each purchase. You replace a small pod instead of discarding a whole device, battery included.

Mr Blue is the flavour on this listing: a cool blue-fruit profile from the sweet, berry-and-candy side of the PIXL range. The 5,000 puff figure is the manufacturer's nominal rating, and a later section explains how to read it sensibly. This page covers the full picture, from specifications and flavour to charging, nicotine strength, troubleshooting, value and how the pod compares with other formats you might be considering.

Here are the key facts at a glance:

  • Brand: PIXL
  • Format: prefilled pod that fits a compatible PIXL battery unit. The pod does not contain a battery.
  • Flavour: Mr Blue, a blue-fruit and berry profile with a cool finish
  • Nominal rating: 5,000 puffs, as stated by the manufacturer
  • E-liquid capacity: up to 2ml, the maximum UK rules allow for a pod or tank
  • Heating element: mesh-style coil built into the pod
  • Nicotine: at or below the UK limit of 20mg/ml, with the exact strength printed on the pack and shown on the product page
  • Sold to: adults aged 18 or over only

A note before going further: vaping is not risk-free and nicotine is addictive. These pods are intended for adult smokers and existing vapers. If you do not smoke or vape already, there is no reason to start.

Performance and Puff Delivery

Performance in a prefilled pod comes down to three things: how quickly the coil heats, how evenly the wick feeds it, and how steady the output stays as the liquid level falls. A pod that is made well gives a clean, consistent draw from the first puff and does not fade or turn harsh towards the end.

On the 5,000 puff rating, honesty is more useful than hype. The figure is a nominal estimate that manufacturers derive from machine testing with short, uniform draws. Real people vape differently. Long, slow draws use more liquid than quick sips, and a person who chain-vapes through a short session will empty a pod sooner than someone who takes a few puffs an hour across the day.

The arithmetic is worth a moment. UK rules cap a pod at 2ml of e-liquid. Divide 2ml by 5,000 puffs and you get roughly 0.4 microlitres per puff, which sits at the very low end of what a real draw consumes. In practice that means many users will land below the headline number, particularly if they favour longer inhales. Treat 5,000 as a way of comparing this pod with others in the same range, not as a guaranteed count.

What you can reasonably expect from a pod of this type:

  • Quick warm-up. Mesh coils reach working temperature in a fraction of a second, so the first puff after a pause should feel smooth rather than dry.
  • Draw activation. There is normally no button. You inhale and the battery unit detects the airflow and fires the coil.
  • Steady flavour for most of the pod's life. The last stretch can taste flatter or slightly warmer as liquid runs low. That is normal for any pod system and is a sign to change the pod.
  • A mouth-to-lung draw. The airflow is tight, similar to drawing on a cigarette, which is what most people switching from smoking look for.

A light user taking a few dozen puffs a day may get a week or more from a pod. A heavier user may find a pod lasts two or three days. Neither result means anything is wrong. It is simply how vaping habits vary.

Mr Blue Flavour Profile

Mr Blue belongs to the blue-fruit family. It is a name used across several brands for sweet, candy-style blue flavours, and the PIXL version sits in the territory of blue raspberry and mixed berries with a light cooling finish. If you have tried a blue razz style flavour before, the general character will feel familiar.

Broadly, here is how a flavour in this style develops across a puff:

  • On the inhale: a sweet, slightly tart berry note that reads as blue raspberry or blueberry candy rather than fresh fruit.
  • In the middle of the draw: a rounder, sugary body that carries the fruit and gives the flavour its weight.
  • On the exhale: a gentle cooling sensation that lifts the sweetness and stops it feeling heavy. It is a fresh finish rather than a sharp menthol hit.

Flavour is personal, so a few practical points help you decide whether this is for you. If you enjoy sweet drinks, sherbet or fruit sweets, Mr Blue is likely to suit. If you prefer tobacco, plain menthol or mint, a fruit-forward flavour like this may feel too sweet for all-day use. Sweet flavours also tend to build up on the tongue over a long session, a mild effect many vapers call flavour fatigue, where the taste seems to fade even though the pod is fine. Taking a drink of water, or switching flavour for a day, usually resets your palate.

Within the PIXL range there are neighbouring flavours if you want to compare. Blue Razz GB, Blueberry Raspberry and Blueberry Sour Razz all sit in a similar fruit space with different balances of sweet and sour, while Cherry Ice and Fresh Mint lean cooler and cleaner. Because the pods share the same system, you can try a new flavour without buying a new battery, which makes experimenting inexpensive.

One honest caveat: flavour descriptions are a guide, not a promise. Taste varies from person to person and from batch to batch, and the profile above reflects how this style of flavour is normally built.

Design and Build Quality

A prefilled pod is a small component, but the details of its construction decide whether it is pleasant or irritating to use. Pods in this class are typically moulded from plastic, with a mouthpiece at one end and a push-fit base at the other. The base carries the electrical contacts that connect the coil to the battery unit, and a pair of small air openings that let the pod breathe as you draw.

What to look for when your pod arrives:

  • Intact packaging. The outer box should be sealed and undamaged. If it looks tampered with, do not use it and contact the shop.
  • Protective seals. Pods are usually shipped with a cap or film over the mouthpiece and the base to keep the liquid in during transit. Remove these before fitting.
  • A clean pod body. A film of liquid on the outside, or a visibly low liquid level in a brand-new pod, suggests a leak in transit. Report it rather than using it.
  • A firm fit. The pod should seat in the battery unit with a positive click or a snug push and should not wobble.

The mouthpiece on pods of this type is usually shaped for comfort over a longer session, so it should not feel sharp against the lips. The pod is a sealed, single-use unit. It is not designed to be opened, refilled or tampered with, and doing so can cause leaks and damage the coil. Do not squeeze the body of the pod while fitting it, as pressure on the tank can force liquid into the airflow channel.

Because the pod holds only a small amount of liquid, a good fit between pod and battery matters. A loose connection is the most common cause of an intermittent device. If you ever find that the seat feels gritty or dirty, wipe the contacts gently with a dry cloth, never a wet one.

For storage, keep spare pods in their box, upright if possible, away from direct sunlight and radiators, and out of reach of children and pets.

Battery and Charging

The pod itself has no battery. Power comes from the PIXL battery unit it clicks into, and that is the part you recharge. Battery units in this class commonly use a rechargeable lithium cell in the region of 500 to 650mAh, charged over USB-C. Check the specification printed on your own unit for the exact figure, since it can differ between versions.

Here is a sensible way to look after the battery side of the system:

  • Charge when it runs low. Most units show a low-battery warning through an indicator light, often a flash or a colour change. Recharge when you see it rather than running the unit flat.
  • Use a suitable charger. A standard 5V USB charger or a USB port on a computer is appropriate. Avoid unbranded or damaged cables.
  • Expect roughly one to two hours of charging. This varies by unit, so follow the instructions supplied with your own battery.
  • Do not leave it charging unattended. Particularly overnight or on soft furnishings. Unplug it once the indicator shows it is full.
  • Keep it cool. Do not leave the unit in a hot car or direct sun, and do not charge a unit that is hot or swollen.

How long one charge lasts depends on how often you vape. Many people find one full charge broadly covers the life of a pod, and heavier users may need to top up more often. If you swap to a fresh pod and the battery is nearly empty, simply charge it before carrying on. Fitting a new pod does not recharge anything.

A lithium battery should never go in your household bin or kerbside recycling. If a battery unit stops charging or is damaged, take it to a recycling point rather than throwing it away, as covered in the final section. If the unit gets unusually hot, swells or smells of burning, stop using it immediately and keep it away from flammable material.

Mesh Coil Technology and E-Liquid Capacity

The heating element inside the pod is a mesh-style coil. Instead of a round wire wrapped around a wick, a mesh coil uses a thin, flat sheet of perforated metal with a large surface area. That design has a few practical advantages for a small pod:

  • More even heating. A larger contact area warms the liquid more uniformly, which tends to give a smoother, less patchy flavour.
  • Quick response. The mesh heats fast, so there is little delay between inhaling and vapour arriving.
  • Better flavour delivery. Because the liquid is vaporised over a wide surface, flavour notes tend to come through cleanly.
  • Lower risk of hot spots. Even heating makes a burnt taste less likely when the pod is used properly.

The coil is sealed inside the pod, so you never need to clean, rewick or replace it. When the pod is finished, the coil goes with it. This is the main reason a prefilled pod system needs so little maintenance.

On capacity, UK rules limit a pod or tank to 2ml of e-liquid, and that is the figure to assume here. Most prefilled pods in this category use nicotine salt e-liquid, which allows a smoother throat hit at higher strengths than traditional freebase nicotine. The exact ingredients are listed on the pack, and it is worth reading them if you have allergies or sensitivities.

The total nicotine in a pod is simple to work out. At 20mg/ml, a 2ml pod holds 40mg of nicotine in total. That is spread across all the puffs you take from it, which is why a pod used lightly across a week delivers each puff gently, while the same pod used heavily over two days delivers far more per hour. It is a useful reminder that the strength on the label describes the liquid, not the amount you absorb per day.

Nicotine Strength Guidance

UK law caps the nicotine strength of vaping products at 20mg/ml, which is the same as 2%. That limit applies to prefilled pods, refill bottles and every other nicotine vaping product on sale in the UK, and it is the strength most prefilled pods in this category are sold at. The exact strength of this pod is printed on the pack and shown on the product page, so check it before you order.

If you are choosing between strengths, these rules of thumb are a starting point rather than medical advice:

  • Heavier smokers. People who smoke around 15 to 20 cigarettes a day, or smoke within half an hour of waking, often find the top strength allowed gives enough satisfaction to stop them reaching for a cigarette.
  • Moderate smokers. Someone on 10 or fewer cigarettes a day may find a lower strength, such as 10mg/ml, smoother and easier to use through the day.
  • Light or social smokers. Lower strengths usually suffice, and a high strength can be unpleasant.
  • Existing vapers. Match the strength you already use. Stepping to a much higher strength can bring unwanted effects.

Signs that a strength is too high include nausea, dizziness, headaches, a racing heart, sweating and a harsh, scratchy throat. Signs that it is too low include persistent cravings, taking many more puffs than usual and going back to cigarettes. If you cannot find a comfortable level, speak to a pharmacist or your GP.

Nicotine is addictive and is not suitable for everyone. Do not use these pods if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and speak to a doctor before vaping if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or another long-term illness. If your aim is to stop vaping and smoking altogether, NHS stop smoking services offer free support and can be combined with other aids.

Who This Pod Is For, and Who Should Skip It

This pod suits a fairly specific kind of buyer. It rewards people who want simplicity, and it does not try to be everything to everyone.

It is likely to suit you if you are:

  • An adult smoker looking to switch. The tight draw and nicotine salt liquid feel close to smoking, and the setup requires no learning curve.
  • An existing vaper who liked disposables. With the ban on single-use vapes in force, a prefilled pod system offers the same ready-filled convenience with a reusable battery.
  • Someone who dislikes refilling. No bottles, no spills, no coil changes, no settings.
  • A person who enjoys sweet flavours. Mr Blue is clearly in the fruit-and-candy camp.
  • A light to moderate user. The pod format works well if you vape in short bursts through the day.

You may want to look elsewhere if you are:

  • Under 18. It is illegal to sell these products to you, and you should not vape.
  • Not a smoker or vaper. Nicotine is addictive and there is no benefit to starting.
  • Pregnant, or have a heart condition. Speak to a medical professional first.
  • A hobbyist who likes to tinker. If you enjoy choosing your own liquids, adjusting airflow or building coils, a refillable system gives you control that a sealed pod cannot.
  • A cloud chaser. This is a mouth-to-lung pod with a restricted draw, not a high-vapour device.
  • Strongly cost-focused over the long term. Refillable pod kits that use bottled e-liquid can cost less per millilitre, as discussed in the value section.

If you sit somewhere in the middle, the safest path is to try one pod and see how you get on. A single pod is a modest commitment compared with a full device.

How to Fit and Use the Pod

The pod needs almost no setup, but a careful first fit prevents most of the problems people run into later. Follow these steps in order.

  • Check the battery. Make sure your PIXL battery unit has enough charge. A low battery gives weak vapour and can look like a faulty pod.
  • Unpack the pod. Remove any protective cap, film or bung from the mouthpiece and from the base. Do not remove anything else, and do not open the pod.
  • Seat the pod. Push the pod into the battery unit until it sits firmly. Do not twist it or force it. If it will not seat, check the orientation and that the seals are off.
  • Let it prime. Wait around 30 to 60 seconds before the first puff so the wick can soak up liquid. Skipping this step is the most common cause of a dry or burnt first draw.
  • Start gently. Take the first few puffs slowly, two to three seconds each, and pause for 20 to 30 seconds between draws.
  • Vape in moderation. Rapid, repeated puffs heat the coil faster than the wick can resupply it, which dulls flavour and can cause a harsh taste.
  • Store sensibly. Between uses, keep the unit upright if you can and away from heat.

To change a pod, simply pull the old one straight out and clip the new one in. You do not need to switch the device off. Dispose of the empty pod responsibly, as described in the final section. Never try to refill an empty pod, as this can cause leaks and affect the coil, and it makes the product unsafe.

Inhale gently rather than hard. Pod systems are designed for a soft pull. A hard draw does not produce more flavour, and it tends to spit hot liquid or flood the mouthpiece. Do not vape while driving, and keep the product away from children, pets and anyone who should not be exposed to nicotine.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

Most issues with prefilled pods have simple fixes. Work through the likely cause before assuming the pod is faulty.

  • No vapour or the device does not fire. Check the battery charge first. Then remove the pod and refit it firmly. Confirm that every protective cap or film is off, and that the airflow openings are not blocked. If the unit still does not respond after a full charge, try a different pod to find out whether the fault is in the battery or the pod.
  • Dry or burnt taste. This usually means the wick is not saturated. Remove the pod, wait a minute, refit and take slow, short puffs. If the taste persists, the pod may be nearly empty, so replace it.
  • Weak flavour. Low charge, a nearly empty pod or flavour fatigue are the usual causes. Charge the battery, drink some water and try again, or swap to a new pod.
  • Leaking. Small amounts of condensation around the base are common, and you can wipe them off. If liquid is escaping freely, do not keep using the pod. Wipe the battery contacts dry, and contact the shop if the pod arrived leaking.
  • Gurgling sound or liquid in the mouth. Flooding can happen if the pod is squeezed or drawn too hard. Blow gently back through the mouthpiece with the pod removed, or just wait a minute and try again.
  • Pod will not seat. Check for a leftover seal on the base, check the orientation and look for debris in the connector. Never force a pod into place.
  • Battery will not charge. Try a different cable and charger, and check the charging port for dust or lint. If it still will not charge, stop using it.

If you suspect a fault with the battery getting hot, swelling, or giving off a smell, stop using the device and keep it away from anything flammable. If the pod leaks onto your skin, wash it off with water. If you swallow e-liquid or have a bad reaction, seek medical advice straight away.

Value for Money

Judging value on a prefilled pod takes more than looking at the price on the page. A fair comparison takes into account how long a pod lasts you, what you spend on the battery over time, and what you are replacing.

Here is a simple way to work it out. Take the price of the pod and divide it by the number of days it lasts you. If a pod costs a few pounds and lasts you four days, your daily cost is a fraction of that, and you can set it directly against what you spent per day on cigarettes. For most adult smokers who switch fully, the daily saving over smoking is considerable, though how much depends on how heavily you smoked and how heavily you vape.

Points that affect the real cost:

  • Pod life. This is the biggest variable. A lighter user gets more days from a pod than a heavy user, so the same product can look cheap to one person and expensive to another.
  • The battery is a shared cost. Because one rechargeable battery serves many pods, its price spreads out over time, unlike a single-use device where the whole unit was thrown away.
  • Multi-packs. Buying several pods at once usually lowers the cost of each, and means you will not run out at an awkward moment.
  • Extras. You may need a charging cable, and a spare battery if you rely on the system heavily.
  • Waste. A pod system produces less waste per purchase than a disposable, which has value for many people even though it does not show up in the price.

Where prefilled pods do not win on price is against refillable systems using bottled e-liquid, which cost less per millilitre in exchange for more effort. What you pay for with a prefilled pod is convenience and consistency: every pod tastes the same, behaves the same and takes seconds to change. If those matter to you, the price is easy to justify. If you mainly want the cheapest possible vaping, a refillable kit deserves a look.

Compare the current price on this page with the other PIXL listings and with similar pods from other brands before deciding.

How It Compares, and Recycling the Pod

Comparisons are most helpful when they are fair, so here is how this pod sits against the main alternatives UK vapers consider.

  • Other prefilled pod systems, such as ELFA-style pods. The format is very similar: a sealed 2ml pod, a mesh coil and a rechargeable battery. The practical difference lies in flavour range, battery size and price. Pods are not interchangeable between brands, so check that you are buying for the system you own.
  • Refillable pod kits, such as Vaporesso XROS or Voopoo Vmate style devices. These take pods you fill yourself from bottled e-liquid. They give you free choice of liquid and usually lower running costs, but you need to handle bottles, fill carefully and put up with the occasional leak. They suit people who enjoy the process more than those who want to click and go.
  • The old single-use vapes. The flavour and convenience were similar, but they are no longer legal to sell in the UK, and each one generated a full battery's worth of waste.
  • Other PIXL pods. If you like the system but want a different taste, Blue Razz GB, Blueberry Raspberry and Cherry Ice sit alongside Mr Blue in the range.

No single format is right for everyone. A prefilled pod trades a little cost for a lot of convenience, which is a fair trade for many adult smokers who simply want something that works.

When a pod is empty, do not put it in your household bin. Even a pod with no battery contains residual liquid and electronic parts, and a battery unit contains a lithium cell that can start fires in bin lorries and recycling plants. Instead, use a proper drop-off route:

  • Retailer take-back. Many shops that sell vaping products accept used pods and batteries for recycling, and some are obliged to under UK waste electrical rules. Ask in store, or check the shop's website.
  • Household waste recycling centres. Most councils accept vapes, pods and small batteries at their recycling sites or in dedicated collection bins.
  • Store collection points. Some supermarkets and electrical retailers have battery and small electrical drop-off bins near the entrance.

Check your local council's guidance if you are unsure, and keep used pods away from children until you can drop them off.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Zero-mess flavour change — snap in, done
  • Consistent draw from a factory-primed coil
  • Long shelf-life, easy to travel with

Cons

  • Costs more per ml than freestanding e-liquid
  • Pods are proprietary to a specific device

Frequently asked questions

Which nicotine strength should I choose?

UK law caps nicotine vapes at 20mg/ml, and the exact strength of this pod is printed on the pack and shown on the product page. Heavier smokers often prefer the top strength, while lighter smokers and existing vapers usually do better with something lower. If you feel dizzy, sick or get headaches, the strength is probably too high for you.

How do I charge it, and how long does the battery last?

The pod has no battery. You recharge the PIXL battery unit over USB-C using a standard 5V charger, which commonly takes around one to two hours. Many people find one charge roughly covers a pod, but heavier use means topping up more often, so check the instructions for your own unit.

Can I swap to a different flavour without buying a new battery?

Yes. The battery unit stays the same and you only change the pod, so you can move between Mr Blue, Blue Razz GB, Blueberry Raspberry, Cherry Ice and the other flavours in the PIXL range. Just remove the old pod and click the new one in. Pods only work with a compatible PIXL unit, so check before buying.

How long does one pod last?

The pod is rated at a nominal 5,000 puffs, but real-world life depends on how you vape. A light user may get a week or more, and a heavy user may finish a pod in two or three days. Longer, harder draws use liquid faster, so expect results to differ from the headline figure.

Is it good value compared with cigarettes or other vapes?

Work out the cost by dividing the price of the pod by the number of days it lasts you, then compare that with what you spent on cigarettes. Most adult smokers who switch fully see a clear saving. Refillable kits with bottled e-liquid can cost less per millilitre, but they take more effort, so prefilled pods suit people who value convenience.

Who should and should not buy this?

It is aimed at adult smokers and existing vapers who want a simple, no-maintenance pod in a sweet blue-fruit flavour. It is not for anyone under 18, non-smokers, or people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should speak to a doctor first if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure.

Do you deliver across the UK, and is there an age check?

Yes, we deliver across the UK, and the delivery options and costs are shown at checkout. Vaping products can only be sold to adults aged 18 or over, so you may be asked to confirm your age when ordering, and the courier may ask for proof of age on delivery.

What if my pod arrives faulty or leaking?

Contact us with your order number and a short description or photo of the problem, and we will look into it. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to faulty goods, and our returns page sets out the process. For hygiene reasons, opened e-liquid products are generally not suitable for return unless faulty.

Will this pod fit other brands of vape?

No. Prefilled pods are made for specific battery units, and this pod is designed for the PIXL system. Pods from different brands have different connectors and sizes, and forcing one into the wrong device can damage both. Always check compatibility with your battery unit before ordering.

How do I dispose of an empty pod safely?

Do not put it in your household bin or kerbside recycling, because of the residual liquid and the fire risk from lithium batteries in the wider system. Take used pods and batteries to a retailer take-back point, a council household waste recycling centre or a supermarket battery bin, and keep them away from children until you do.
