PIXL 5000 Puffs Strawberry Hub Bub prefilled pods at a glance

The PIXL 5000 Puffs Prefilled Pods in Strawberry Hub Bub are factory-filled replacement pods for the PIXL pod system. Rather than buying a sealed bar that you throw away once the liquid runs out, you click a prefilled pod into a reusable device, vape it until it is empty, then swap in a fresh one. The battery, the charging port and the body of the device stay with you, and only the pod is replaced. That reusable-device model matters in the UK right now, because the sale of single-use vapes has been banned across the country since 1 June 2025, and pod systems of this kind sit on the legal side of that line.

The Strawberry Hub Bub name points to a sweet strawberry bubblegum style of flavour, and we describe what to expect in a dedicated section below. This guide is written for UK buyers and tries to stay measured. Where a figure comes from the manufacturer's label rather than something we can check ourselves, we say so, and where a spec can vary between production batches or device versions, the pack in your hand is the final word.

Key facts at a glance

  • Product type: a prefilled replacement pod for a pod-style vape device. It is not a standalone vape and it does not contain a battery.
  • Flavour: Strawberry Hub Bub, a sweet strawberry and bubblegum candy profile.
  • Labelled capacity: 5000 puffs, which is the manufacturer's headline figure and not a measured result.
  • Liquid volume: British rules limit a prefilled pod to 2ml, so check the pack for the exact fill.
  • Nicotine: UK products are capped at 20mg/ml (2%). Always read the strength printed on the pod and the carton before you use it.
  • Coil: a built-in coil in the base of the pod, replaced every time you replace the pod.
  • Age restriction: sale to anyone under 18 is illegal in the UK, and nicotine products are not intended for non-smokers.

If you already own a compatible PIXL device, this page tells you what the pod will do and whether the flavour suits you. If you are new to the format, the sections on devices, charging, nicotine strength and troubleshooting should answer most of the questions you would otherwise have to find out the hard way.

Puff count and real-world performance

The first thing to understand about the 5000 puffs in the product name is what it is and what it is not. It is a marketing figure that has become a naming convention across the vape market, and the number on the box is usually calculated under conditions that do not match everyday use. It is not a promise that one pod will last for 5000 inhales in the UK.

The reason is simple arithmetic. British rules limit the liquid in a prefilled pod or refillable tank to 2ml. A typical draw uses somewhere around 2 to 3 milligrams of liquid, though this varies with power, airflow and how long you inhale. Work that through for 2ml of liquid and you land in the region of several hundred puffs, not thousands. Our honest expectation for a single pod in normal use is somewhere between 500 and 800 puffs, and a lot of people will sit at the lower end of that range if they take long, deep draws.

That is not a flaw in the product. It simply means the number in the name should be read as branding. If you vape moderately, a pod will often last a day or two. If you are replacing cigarettes and vaping steadily through the day, expect to get through a pod in a day, and plan to buy pods in multiples.

What changes how long a pod lasts

  • Draw length: a long, slow pull consumes more liquid than a short one.
  • Device output: a higher power setting, where your device offers one, heats the coil harder and uses liquid faster.
  • Airflow: a tighter draw usually gives a warmer, denser vapour and a slightly lower liquid use per puff than an open one.
  • Chain vaping: back-to-back puffs without a pause use more liquid and can scorch the wick.
  • Temperature: very cold pods can flow slowly at first, so let a pod sit at room temperature before use in winter.

Performance across the life of the pod is meant to be steady, with a consistent flavour from the first draw to the last. Many users report that flavour fades gently as the pod empties, and the last 10 to 15 percent of the liquid can taste thinner and a little warmer. When you notice that, change the pod rather than pushing on.

Strawberry Hub Bub flavour profile

The name Strawberry Hub Bub is a nod to the strawberry bubblegum sweets many people remember from childhood, and that is the reference point to hold in mind when you try it. Think of a sweet, candied strawberry rather than a freshly sliced fruit. The inhale leads with a rounded strawberry note that is more jam and sweet than tart, and behind it sits a soft, sugary bubblegum character that gives the flavour its body.

On the exhale the bubblegum comes forward and the strawberry settles into the background, leaving a mellow, lightly creamy finish. There is no menthol or cooling agent in the profile as it is described, so the vapour feels warm and smooth rather than icy. If you prefer a cold finish, this is not that flavour. If you enjoy dessert and candy profiles, this is squarely in that territory.

How it tastes at different stages

  • First few draws: the sweetness is at its most obvious, and the bubblegum can seem a little strong until your palate adjusts.
  • Mid-pod: the strawberry and gum notes balance each other, and this is where most people will say the flavour is at its most enjoyable.
  • Final stretch: as the liquid drops the flavour thins and can taste slightly toasted. This is the signal to replace the pod.

Who tends to like it

  • People moving from sweet, fruity flavours in other pod systems.
  • Vapers who find tobacco and mint flavours harsh and want something that tastes pleasant at the start of the day.
  • Anyone who likes the sweet shop end of the market and wants a flavour that is easy to recognise.

Who may not

  • People who dislike sweeteners. Candy flavours use more sweetener than tobacco or menthol, and a few users find them cloying after a long session.
  • Anyone who wants a sharp, natural strawberry. This is a confectionery recreation, not a fresh fruit one.

Flavour is personal and descriptions are only a guide. If you are unsure, it is reasonable to buy a single pod before committing to a multi-pack, and to try other PIXL pod flavours in the same device, since the pods are designed to fit the same system.

Pod design and build quality

Pods in this category are made from food-contact plastic with a built-in mouthpiece, an airflow channel, a sealed e-liquid reservoir and a coil assembly at the base. The PIXL prefilled pod follows that pattern. It is a self-contained, factory-sealed cartridge, and because you never open it, you never handle the liquid directly. There is no bottle, no dripping and no measuring involved.

The reservoir is translucent in most pods of this type, so you can see the liquid level at a glance. That is useful in practice. Seeing the level fall lets you plan a replacement before the coil runs dry, rather than finding out when the flavour turns harsh. At the base, a pair of small metal contacts connects the pod to the battery in the device. These are normally nickel or gold plated to resist corrosion and give a reliable connection through repeated pod swaps.

What to look for when the pod arrives

  • Intact seals: any protective film or plug at the mouthpiece and base should be present and undamaged until you are ready to use it.
  • No visible leakage: a thin film of liquid on the outside of a sealed pod is a warning sign. Contact us rather than using it.
  • Clean contacts: the metal contacts should be bright and free of residue.
  • Correct labelling: the flavour, nicotine strength, volume and safety warnings should all be printed on the pack.

The pod is not designed to be refilled. Attempting to open it can damage the seal, contaminate the coil and cause leaks, and we advise against it. It is also not designed to be rinsed or washed, since water in the coil chamber will ruin the wick.

Build quality is reasonable for the price band. The plastic feels sturdy rather than premium, which is typical for this type of product, and the pod clicks into the device with a firm, audible fit. A loose fit is a sign of a faulty pod or a dirty contact, and it is one of the first things to check if the device will not fire. Because the pod forms part of an airtight liquid path, you should keep it upright in storage and avoid squeezing it in a bag or pocket.

Battery, devices and charging

One point of confusion with prefilled pods is where the battery sits. The pod itself has no battery. It holds the liquid and the coil, and it takes its power from the rechargeable PIXL device that it clicks into. That means the battery life and charging speed you experience depend on the device rather than the pod.

Devices in this class usually carry a lithium-ion cell in the region of several hundred milliamp hours, commonly somewhere between 400 and 1000mAh depending on the model. Check the figure printed on your device or its packaging, since it varies between versions. As a rough guide, a device with a cell in that range can often vape through one to two pods on a charge, though your own use will move that figure up or down.

Charging sensibly

  • Use the USB-C cable supplied with the device where one is provided, or a reputable cable of good quality.
  • Plug into a standard phone-style wall adapter or a computer USB port. Avoid cheap unbranded chargers, which are a common source of battery incidents.
  • Do not charge unattended overnight, and do not charge under a pillow or on a soft surface.
  • Many devices have an LED that changes colour or flashes to show battery state and when charging is complete. Check your instructions for what each signal means.
  • Unplug the device once it is fully charged. Leaving it connected for days at a time adds nothing and wears the cell.

Looking after the battery

Lithium-ion cells prefer to be kept between roughly 20 and 80 percent when possible, away from heat, and away from metal objects in a pocket that could short the contacts. Never use a device with a swollen, hot or damaged battery. Stop using it, move it away from anything flammable, and take it to a battery recycling point.

If you travel by air, battery devices should normally go in cabin baggage rather than hold baggage, and the pod should be sealed. Check the airline's current rules before you fly, as they differ by carrier. At the end of its life, do not put a device with a dead battery in general waste or household recycling. Take it to a drop-off point, which we cover in the use and recycling section below.

Coil and mesh technology

The coil is the heating element that turns liquid into vapour, and it is what separates a pleasant pod from a disappointing one. In a prefilled pod the coil is built into the base of the cartridge and surrounded by a cotton or organic wick that draws liquid in from the reservoir. When you inhale, the device senses airflow, sends current through the coil and the wick releases liquid onto the heated surface.

Many modern pods of this type use a mesh coil, which is a flat sheet of fine metal mesh with a large surface area, in place of a traditional round wire wound into a spiral. The larger surface heats a bigger portion of the wick at once, which tends to give more even vaporisation and a flavour that stays consistent through the pod. Mesh also warms up quickly, so you get vapour almost as soon as you inhale. Check the pack for the coil type listed for your particular pod; the points below apply to mesh coils in general.

A typical resistance for a mouth-to-lung pod coil is somewhere around 0.8 to 1.2 ohms, which is in line with the lower-power, tighter-draw style most nicotine salt users prefer. A higher-resistance coil tends to produce a slightly cooler vapour and use liquid more slowly. A lower-resistance one runs hotter and burns through liquid faster.

Getting reliable results from the coil

  • Let it prime: after fitting a new pod, wait a minute or two so the wick can soak up liquid, then take two or three light draws before settling into a normal pattern.
  • Pace yourself: rapid back-to-back puffs can outrun the wick, leaving the cotton dry and the coil hot, which produces a burnt taste.
  • Stop at the first burnt taste: do not keep vaping a scorched coil. It will not recover, and the taste will not improve.
  • Store the pod upright: this helps the liquid stay around the coil rather than pooling at one end.

A useful advantage of the pod format is that coil wear is tied to the pod. You never have to build, wick or change a coil yourself; when the liquid runs out, the coil goes with the empty pod and the next one arrives fresh. The trade-off is that you cannot rebuild or upgrade the coil, and a faulty coil means a faulty pod. If one pod tastes burnt from the first draw while others are fine, that is a fault worth reporting to us.

Nicotine strength guidance for UK vapers

In Great Britain, nicotine strength in vaping products is capped at 20mg/ml, often written as 2%. No product on the legal UK market is stronger than that, so any listing claiming a higher strength should be treated with suspicion. The strength is printed on the pod and the carton. Check it before you buy and again before you use, since pods in different strengths can look nearly identical.

Choosing the right strength is mostly about matching what your body is used to, and getting it wrong in either direction leads to a poor experience. Too low and you will find yourself chain vaping and still wanting a cigarette. Too high and you may feel dizzy, queasy or jittery, and the throat hit can be unpleasant.

General guidance

  • 20mg/ml: usually suits people who smoke around 15 or more cigarettes a day, or who light the first one within half an hour of waking. It is the starting point for heavier smokers who are switching fully.
  • 10mg/ml: suits lighter or social smokers, people who smoke 10 or fewer a day, and vapers who find 20mg/ml too harsh.
  • 5mg/ml or lower: suits people who are stepping down, or who mostly want the flavour and the hand-to-mouth habit.
  • 0mg: contains no nicotine and is for people who want to stop completely.

Pods of this type often use nicotine salts, which are formulated to feel smoother at higher strengths than traditional freebase liquid. If your pod uses salts, a 20mg/ml version will feel gentler on the throat than a freebase liquid at the same strength, but it still delivers a full dose of nicotine. Do not assume a smooth hit means a low dose.

Practical tips

  • If you are unsure, start at the lower of the two strengths you are considering. You can always step up; stepping down after overdoing it is unpleasant.
  • Notice how often you reach for the device. Needing it constantly suggests the strength is too low, while feeling light-headed suggests it is too high.
  • Nicotine is addictive. If you do not currently smoke or vape, this product is not for you.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with heart conditions and anyone on medication should speak to a doctor, pharmacist or local stop-smoking service before using nicotine products.

Who this pod is for, and who should skip it

The PIXL Strawberry Hub Bub pod is aimed at adult smokers and existing vapers who want a simple, low-maintenance way to vape a sweet flavour. It suits you if some of the following describe your situation.

It is a good fit if you:

  • Already own a compatible PIXL device and want a straightforward way to keep it topped up.
  • Are an adult smoker trying to switch to vaping and want a closed system with no bottles, no coil changes and no setup.
  • Like confectionery and fruit flavours and want a profile that is easy to recognise.
  • Previously used single-use vapes and want a legal, reusable alternative now that those have been removed from sale.
  • Prefer a tight, mouth-to-lung draw similar to the feel of a cigarette.
  • Want to keep a few spare pods in a bag or drawer without worrying about spilling liquid.

You should look elsewhere if you:

  • Are under 18. It is illegal to sell nicotine vaping products to under-18s in the UK, and we do not knowingly do so.
  • Do not smoke or vape already. Nicotine is addictive and vaping is intended for adult smokers rather than as a new habit.
  • Want a big cloud of vapour. Mouth-to-lung pods deliver modest clouds by design, and chasing volume calls for a different type of device.
  • Prefer to mix your own liquid, choose your own nicotine strength by the millilitre or build custom coils. A refillable kit is a better match.
  • Dislike sweet flavours. A tobacco, mint or menthol pod will suit you better than a candy profile.
  • Do not have, and do not want to buy, a compatible PIXL device. The pod will not work on its own.

The single most important check before ordering is compatibility. Prefilled pods are shaped for a specific device family, and a pod that looks similar may not click into a different brand's battery. Confirm that your device is a PIXL model and, if you are unsure, contact us with a photo or the model name before you order. We would rather answer a quick question than process a return.

How to use, store and recycle your pods

Using a prefilled pod is meant to be simple. Most people are vaping within a minute of unboxing, but a few details make the difference between a good first session and a frustrating one.

Getting started

  • Check the device is charged. A low battery gives weak vapour and can make a pod seem faulty.
  • Remove any protective film, plug or sticker from the mouthpiece and the base of the pod, exactly as shown on the pack.
  • Press the pod firmly into the device until it seats with a click. Do not twist or force it.
  • Wait a minute or two so the wick can saturate, then take two or three gentle draws to prime the coil.
  • Inhale slowly and evenly, as if sipping through a straw, in a mouth-to-lung style. Pause for several seconds between puffs.

Storage

  • Keep spare pods in their original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, radiators and car dashboards.
  • Store them upright and out of the reach of children and pets. Nicotine is toxic if swallowed, and an unattended pod is a risk.
  • Do not leave pods in a hot car or a bag under strong sun, since heat thins the liquid and encourages leaks.

Disposal and recycling

Empty pods contain plastic, a small coil and residual liquid, and devices contain a lithium-ion battery. None of these belong in general waste or kerbside recycling bins. Under UK waste electrical rules, shops that sell vapes are required to accept used vaping products for recycling, and household waste recycling centres also take them. Look for a drop-off point near you through your local council, or ask the retailer where you bought your device. Take the empty pod and, when the time comes, the device, to a collection point. Before disposal, never try to take a battery out of a device or crush a pod, and never throw either into a fire.

The pod format creates much less waste than a single-use vape because the body and battery are kept in service for months or years. The benefit is only real if the empty pods are actually returned for recycling rather than binned, so it is worth building the habit.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with prefilled pods have simple causes, and the same handful of issues account for the large majority of complaints. Work through the checks below before deciding a pod is faulty.

The device does not fire or the LED flashes

  • Take the pod out and reseat it firmly. A pod that is not fully seated is the most common cause.
  • Wipe the metal contacts on both the pod and the device with a dry cotton bud. Residue or fingerprints can interrupt the connection.
  • Charge the device. Flashing often means a low battery, a poor connection or a pod that has not been detected.
  • Try another pod. If a second pod works, the first is faulty. If neither works, the problem is with the device.

Weak or thin vapour

  • This can indicate a low battery, a pod nearing empty, or palate fatigue after vaping the same sweet flavour for a long time.
  • Check the liquid level through the reservoir, and replace the pod if it is low.
  • Take a break and try a different flavour or a glass of water to reset your palate.

Burnt taste

  • This usually means the coil has dried out through chain vaping or because the pod is almost empty.
  • Pause, wait a minute, and take shorter, gentler puffs. If the taste persists, change the pod.
  • Do not keep going on a burnt coil. It will not recover and it makes for an unpleasant session.

Leaking

  • A small amount of condensation at the mouthpiece is normal. Wipe it away.
  • Liquid pooling in the device or on the contacts is not. Remove the pod, dry the device, and replace the pod.
  • Store pods upright and avoid squeezing them in a pocket to limit the risk.

Gurgling or spitting

Excess condensation in the airway can make a crackling sound or send droplets into your mouth. Take a gentle puff while pointing the mouthpiece down onto a tissue, or blow lightly through the pod to clear it.

Safety stop signs

Do not keep using a pod that smells of burning, a device that gets hot to the touch, or a battery that is swollen. Stop, disconnect, and keep the device away from flammable materials. If you suspect a fault, get in touch with your order number and a photo.

Value for money

Judging value in the pod category means looking at the cost per pod, the cost per day of use and the cost of the device you need to run it. The 5000 puffs figure in the title is not a fair way to compare, so it helps to work with real-world estimates instead.

Using the 500 to 800 puff range from earlier, one pod will typically last a moderate vaper one to two days and a heavier vaper around a day. Multiply the price of the pod by the number of pods you expect to use in a week and you have a realistic weekly spend. For many smokers, that sits well below the cost of the equivalent cigarettes, especially at current UK tobacco prices. Smokers who switch fully usually report saving a meaningful amount per month, though your own figure depends on how much you smoked and how often you vape.

Where the value comes from

  • Reusable device: you pay for the battery and body once, then only for pods. That is cheaper over time than repeatedly buying single-use products, even before considering the legal position.
  • No coil or liquid costs: each pod includes a fresh coil, so you are not buying coils, cotton or bottles separately.
  • Multi-buys: pods are often cheaper per unit in multi-packs, which is worth checking if you have settled on the flavour.
  • Low waste: only the pod is replaced, so there is less to throw away and recycle.

Where it costs more

  • A refillable pod kit with bottled liquid is almost always cheaper per millilitre, so heavy vapers who are comfortable with filling and coil changes can save more.
  • A prefilled pod trades some of that saving for convenience, and the convenience is the point of the product.
  • If you do not already own a device, add the cost of one to your first order.

The fair verdict is that the PIXL Strawberry Hub Bub pod offers fair value for people who want a hassle-free format and a sweet flavour, and less value for people who vape large volumes and would be better served by a refillable setup. The price you pay is mostly for convenience, a reliable factory-filled coil and a consistent flavour, rather than a headline puff count.

How PIXL pods compare with other options

It is worth setting this product against what else is available, so you can decide whether a PIXL pod is the right choice or whether another format would suit you better. The comparisons below are general and intentionally even-handed.

Against other closed pod systems

Closed pod systems such as the Vuse ePod, the Elf Bar ELFA and similar kits work on the same principle as PIXL: a sealed prefilled pod clicks into a rechargeable battery. They are broadly comparable on convenience, 2ml liquid volume and 20mg/ml maximum strength, because all of them are working within the same UK rules. The differences come down to flavour range, pod pricing, device battery size and whether the pod fits only one brand's device. If you already own a PIXL device, the cost of switching to another brand would include a new battery, which usually outweighs any small difference in pod price.

Against refillable pod kits

Kits such as the Oxva Xlim or the SMOK Novo series let you fill the pod yourself from a bottle of e-liquid. They are cheaper to run and give you far more choice of flavour and strength, and you can swap coils on a schedule that suits you. In exchange, you have to handle liquid, prime new coils, accept the occasional leak and learn a little about how the device works. A prefilled PIXL pod is simpler, which suits people who want to buy, click in and vape.

Against the old disposables

Single-use vapes are no longer legal to sell in the UK, so they are no longer a like-for-like option. The pod format was the natural successor for people who liked the convenience, and it avoids most of the waste. A PIXL pod gives you the same ready-to-use experience while letting you keep the battery.

Where PIXL stands

  • Simplicity: a sealed, no-maintenance pod with nothing to fill, wick or prime beyond a couple of draws.
  • Flavour: a decent range of sweet and fruit profiles, with Strawberry Hub Bub representing the candy end.
  • Trade-offs: running costs are higher than with a refillable kit, and the pod only fits compatible PIXL devices.

There is no single correct answer. If convenience matters most, a prefilled pod is hard to fault. If cost per millilitre or the freedom to experiment matters most, a refillable kit will serve you better.

Frequently asked questions

Which nicotine strength should I choose for the PIXL Strawberry Hub Bub pod?

In the UK the maximum strength is 20mg/ml, and the right choice depends on how much you smoke. Heavier smokers of around 15 or more cigarettes a day usually start at 20mg/ml, while lighter or social smokers often prefer 10mg/ml. If you are unsure, start with the lower strength you are considering, since it is easier to step up than to recover from too much nicotine.

How do I charge the device, and how long does it take?

The pod has no battery, so you charge the PIXL device it clicks into, normally through a USB-C port using a standard phone-style charger. Charge times depend on the battery size of your particular model, so check the instructions supplied with the device. Do not leave it charging unattended overnight, and use a reputable cable and adapter.

Can I use other PIXL flavours in the same device?

Yes, PIXL prefilled pods in other flavours are designed to fit the same system, so you can swap between them freely with the same device. Because each pod includes its own coil and wick, you will not get flavour carry-over from the previous pod. Always confirm that your device is a compatible PIXL model before ordering, since pods from other brands may not fit.

How long will one pod last, and is it really 5000 puffs?

The 5000 puffs figure is a manufacturer's label number, not a realistic UK result. British rules limit prefilled pods to 2ml, which in normal use works out to roughly 500 to 800 puffs. For a moderate vaper that is often a day or two per pod, and heavier users should expect to get through a pod in about a day.

Is this good value compared with cigarettes or other vapes?

For many smokers a pod-based routine costs noticeably less than the equivalent number of cigarettes, though the saving depends on how much you vape. It costs more per millilitre than a refillable kit with bottled liquid, so heavy vapers who are happy to fill and change coils may save more with that route. The extra cost with a prefilled pod pays for convenience and a factory-fitted coil.

Who should and should not buy this pod?

It is aimed at adult smokers and existing vapers who already own a PIXL device and want a simple sweet flavour with no maintenance. It is not for anyone under 18, for non-smokers, or for people who are pregnant or have heart conditions without medical advice. If you want big clouds, full control over strength or the lowest running cost, a refillable setup suits you better.

Can I refill the pod when it is empty?

No. The pod is a sealed, factory-filled cartridge and is not designed to be opened or refilled. Trying to do so can damage the seal, contaminate the coil and cause leaks, so we recommend replacing the empty pod with a fresh one and recycling the old pod at a drop-off point.

Does this pod work on its own without a device?

No. The pod holds the liquid and the coil but contains no battery, so it needs to be clicked into a compatible rechargeable PIXL device before it will work. If you do not own one yet, you will need to buy a device as well. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure whether your existing device is compatible.

Do you deliver to the UK, and is there an age check?

Yes, we deliver across the UK, and the available delivery options and timings are shown at checkout. Because this is a nicotine product, you must be 18 or over, and age verification may be required when you order or when the parcel is delivered. Please make sure someone aged 18 or over can receive it.

What if my pod arrives faulty, and what is the returns position?

If a pod arrives leaking, damaged or does not work after the troubleshooting steps above, contact us with your order number and a clear photo, and we will look into a replacement or refund. For hygiene and safety reasons, opened vaping products are typically only accepted for return if they are faulty, so check our returns page for the exact terms. Impressive value

Delivery was super fast and the product is genuine. I've had fakes before so this was a relief.

Fairly priced for what you get

Really nice flavour — not too sweet, not too harsh. Perfect in the middle. Second order already placed.
