Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini Pod Vape Kit overview

The Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini Pod Vape Kit is a compact, refillable pod system from Vaporesso, a brand that has grown the XROS line over several generations into one of the most widely stocked pod families in UK vape shops. The word Mini in the name tells you the target: a smaller body than the standard XROS 4, built to sit in a jacket pocket, a bag side compartment or a coin pocket without the bulk of a box mod or a full-size pod kit.

In practical terms the kit combines three things most people look for in an everyday pod device: a battery in the 1000mAh class, a USB-C port for charging, and the Vaporesso COREX mesh coil system inside the pod. Mesh coils use a flat, perforated heating surface instead of a wound wire, which spreads heat more evenly across the cotton. The aim is steadier flavour from the first puff to the last, and fewer dry or harsh hits when the pod is running low on liquid.

This page is written for UK adult vapers who want a straight answer to a few questions. What do you actually get in the box? How does the device behave day to day? Which nicotine strength makes sense? And is it worth choosing over a cheaper or more powerful alternative? We have kept the claims tied to what the hardware is designed to do, and we flag the places where you should check the spec sheet printed on your own box, because Vaporesso adjusts small details between regional editions.

Key points at a glance:

  • Refillable pod kit, not a disposable, so you choose and change your own e-liquid
  • UK-edition pods are limited to a 2ml capacity under UK tank rules
  • Pods are offered in 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm COREX mesh versions
  • Battery in the region of 1000mAh with USB-C charging
  • Part of the wider XROS pod family, so replacement pods are easy to find
  • Sold in 11 colour variants, so the hardware is the same and the finish is your choice

The kit is for adults aged 18 or over only. It contains no nicotine until you add e-liquid yourself, and it is intended for smokers and existing vapers, not for anyone who does not already use nicotine.

Performance and puff delivery

Because the XROS 4 Mini is a refillable device, there is no fixed puff count printed on a label the way there is on a disposable. What you get depends on three things: the pod size, the liquid you put in it, and how you draw. The sensible way to think about it is in terms of the 2ml pod. A 2ml fill of a typical nicotine salt liquid will usually give a moderate user somewhere in the region of a day to a day and a half of use before a refill is due, and a lighter user can stretch that further. Heavy chain-vapers will empty a pod faster, particularly on the lower resistance coil.

The device is draw-activated, so there is no firing button to hold. You inhale and the chipset starts heating the coil. Power output on this class of Vaporesso device sits in the low-to-mid teens of watts at the coil under normal use, with the chip regulating output as the battery drains so that the last third of a charge does not feel noticeably flatter than the first. That regulation is one of the quiet advantages of buying from an established coil and chipset maker rather than a no-name pod.

Two things shape how the vapour feels:

  • Coil resistance. The 0.6 ohm pod draws more power, produces warmer and denser vapour, and suits looser, more open draws. The 0.8 ohm pod runs a little cooler, sips liquid more slowly and suits a tighter, cigarette-like pull.
  • Airflow. Adjustable airflow lets you move between a restricted mouth-to-lung style draw and something more open. Tight airflow concentrates flavour and throat feel; opening it up cools the vapour and increases volume.

Throat hit depends on your liquid. A 20mg nicotine salt will feel noticeably firmer than a 10mg salt on the same coil. If you find the first few draws harsh, try opening the airflow slightly or moving down a strength before assuming the hardware is at fault.

The mesh coil also helps with ramp-up. A mesh surface warms quickly, so the delay between inhaling and the first flavour is short. For many people moving from a cigalike or a first-generation pod, that responsiveness is the most obvious difference. It is not a performance device for large clouds, and it is not trying to be one. It is built for consistent, discreet, everyday vaping.

Flavour profile and what to fill it with

A kit does not come with a fixed flavour, which is the biggest difference from a disposable. The flavour you taste is entirely down to the e-liquid you choose, and the COREX mesh coil is tuned to reproduce that liquid faithfully rather than to add its own character. Mesh generally gives a clean, slightly sweeter-leaning presentation, with menthol and ice notes coming through crisp and fruit profiles staying distinct instead of blurring together.

Where you see the family listed with 11 options, those are colour finishes of the same kit. The choice only affects how the device looks. Whatever colour you pick, you will be filling it with your own liquid, so here are the profile styles that tend to work well with a 0.6 or 0.8 ohm mesh pod:

  • Blueberry ice and other berry-and-cool blends. Mesh handles fruit with a menthol edge well, keeping the berry present under the chill.
  • Strawberry watermelon. A juicy, light profile that suits the higher airflow settings.
  • Mango and tropical fruit. Denser flavours that benefit from the warmer vapour of the 0.6 ohm pod.
  • Cola and soda styles. Fizzy profiles that stay recognisable on the lower power end.
  • Peppermint and spearmint. Straight mint, with or without extra cooling, is a reliable choice for tighter 0.8 ohm draws.
  • Menthol. A common switch for smokers moving off menthol cigarettes.
  • Tobacco and tobacco blends. Lighter tobacco profiles read well on mesh; very dark, heavy tobaccos can leave the coil with a darker residue sooner.
  • Banana ice and creamy dessert styles. Richer sweet liquids work, but expect the coil to need replacing sooner.

A practical note on sweet liquids: higher sugar and sweetener content tends to caramelise on a coil, which shortens its life. If you vape heavily sweetened desserts or candy flavours, expect to change the pod more often than someone on a mint or fruit-and-ice liquid. That is a feature of the liquid, not a fault with the pod.

When you change flavour, it is worth running the pod nearly empty first, or fitting a fresh one. A mesh coil holds a surprising amount of the previous flavour in its cotton, and mixing menthol into a pod that has been running creamy liquid will not give you a clear taste of either.

Design and build quality

The XROS 4 Mini follows the long, slim, slightly rounded profile that has become the signature of the XROS range. The shell is a metal alloy with a coated or anodised finish, which gives it more of a solid feel in the hand than the plastic bodies found on many budget pod kits. The finish is where the 11 colour variants differ, from darker, understated tones to brighter colours, and the coating is the part of the device that will show wear first, particularly on the corners and at the base if the device lives in a pocket with keys.

The size is the main design decision. The Mini is meant to be pocketable in a way that the standard XROS 4 is only just, with a footprint closer to a lighter or a small marker pen than a smartphone. It is easy to palm, which suits discreet use, and the weight is low enough that you will not notice it in a shirt pocket. If you have larger hands or prefer something with more heft, the slimmer body may feel a little small, and that is a fair reason to look at the full-size version.

Details worth noting:

  • Pod fit. The pod seats into the device with a firm click and sits flush. A pod that is not fully seated is the single most common reason a new device appears dead, so press it home until it stops.
  • Fill port. The fill port is covered by a silicone bung. Lift it with a fingernail, fill to just below the maximum line, and push it fully back to avoid seepage.
  • Airflow control. A simple adjustment on the body allows you to change the draw without removing the pod.
  • Charging port. A USB-C socket at the base, which means the same cable you use for most current phones and accessories.
  • Indicator. A small LED shows battery state and gives feedback when the device is firing or when something needs attention.

Build quality is solid for the price bracket. There is no rattle in the body, the pod connection feels tight, and the mouthpiece is shaped for comfortable lip contact rather than being a flat tube. As with any pocket device, a cheap silicone sleeve or a separate pocket for it is worth the small cost if you want the finish to look new for longer.

Battery life and charging

The XROS 4 Mini is built around a battery in the 1000mAh class. Treat that as the sensible reference point for planning your day, while recognising that exact figures can vary slightly by regional edition, so check the printed box for the number on your unit. That capacity sits comfortably at the upper end for a device this small and is what lets the Mini behave like a full day device for most people rather than something you need to top up at lunchtime.

In everyday terms:

  • Light users who take occasional draws through the day will often get two days from a charge.
  • Moderate users who vape steadily at work and in the evening will typically finish the day with some charge remaining.
  • Heavy users on the 0.6 ohm pod may want to top up in the afternoon or charge overnight every night.

Charging is by USB-C. A standard phone charger or a laptop port will do the job; there is no need for a fast charger and no benefit from plugging into one. Expect a full recharge in roughly an hour, a little more from a low-output port. The LED changes behaviour while charging and indicates when the battery is full, so there is no need to guess.

A few habits help the battery last over the years rather than the months:

  • Use a reputable charger and cable. A damaged or unbranded cable is the usual cause of slow charging or intermittent connection.
  • Do not leave the device charging unattended for long periods or under a pillow, on a sofa cushion or anywhere heat can build up.
  • Avoid leaving it in a hot car or in direct sun. Lithium cells dislike heat more than they dislike a flat battery.
  • If you will not use it for weeks, store it with a part charge rather than completely empty.

The battery is built into the device and is not designed to be removed by the user. Do not try to open the body. When the device finally reaches the end of its useful life, it should go to a battery recycling point, covered in the UK rules section below.

COREX mesh coil technology and pod capacity

The pod is where most of the technology lives. The XROS 4 Mini uses Vaporesso COREX mesh coils, available in 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm versions. Mesh coils replace the traditional round wire wound around cotton with a thin, perforated metal sheet that lies against the wick. More surface area touches the liquid, so heat is spread more evenly and the liquid is vaporised with less hot spotting. In plain language, that means smoother flavour and a lower chance of the burnt taste that older coil designs can produce.

COREX describes Vaporesso's approach of building the heating element so that the cotton is wrapped around by the mesh rather than just touching it. Because the wick is surrounded, wicking is more even and the coil is less prone to dry spots as the pod empties. It is a design aimed at both flavour and reliability.

The two options in plain terms:

  • 0.6 ohm. Higher power draw, warmer vapour, denser clouds, faster liquid consumption. Suits lower nicotine strengths and an open draw.
  • 0.8 ohm. Lower power draw, slightly cooler vapour, slower liquid consumption. Suits higher nicotine strengths and a tighter draw, and is usually the easier starting point for someone moving from cigarettes.

Capacity. Pods designed for the UK market hold 2ml, which is the legal maximum for a refillable tank or pod sold here. You may see 3ml pods mentioned in international reviews; those are not the UK specification. When you buy replacement pods, buy the UK 2ml version.

Lifespan. A pod is a consumable. Typical coil life is somewhere between one and three weeks depending on your liquid, your power level and your habits. Signs that a pod is due for replacement include a flat or slightly burnt taste that does not go away with a fresh fill, gurgling, reduced vapour, or a dark, sticky residue visible in the liquid window.

Compatibility. The XROS family has historically shared pod formats across several models, which makes it convenient to find replacements. Always confirm the exact pod listing on the product page for your device before ordering, because Vaporesso has revised some designs between generations.

Choosing a nicotine strength

Nicotine strength is the decision that has the biggest effect on whether a pod kit works for you, and it is easy to get wrong in both directions. Too weak and you will keep reaching for the device, burn through liquid and still crave a cigarette. Too strong and you will get a harsh throat hit, dizziness or nausea.

In the UK, e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml of nicotine, and a single bottle cannot exceed 10ml. These caps apply across the market. They are the same limit that applied to disposables before those were banned, and they are the ceiling for refill liquid today. A 20mg nicotine salt is the strongest you can legally buy, and it is not the right choice for every user.

As a guide:

  • 20mg nicotine salt. Suited to people who smoke around ten or more cigarettes a day and want the closest match to cigarette satisfaction. Pairs naturally with the 0.8 ohm pod, which keeps the delivery smooth.
  • 10mg to 12mg nicotine salt. A sensible middle option for lighter smokers, social smokers or people who are reducing. Works with either pod.
  • 5mg to 6mg nicotine salt, or low-strength shortfill with a nic shot. For people who are well on the way to quitting and use the device mainly for habit and flavour. Pairs with the 0.6 ohm pod.
  • 0mg. Nicotine-free, for anyone who wants to carry on using the device without any nicotine.

Remember that the coil changes how nicotine reaches you. The 0.6 ohm pod produces more vapour per puff, so the same liquid will deliver more nicotine per draw than it would on the 0.8 ohm coil. If you are moving between the two, drop a strength on the lower resistance coil and see how it feels.

Nicotine salts are smoother at higher strengths than traditional freebase liquid, which is why they are the standard for pod devices. If you try to run a high-strength freebase liquid in a pod like this, expect it to feel harsh. Stick to salt nicotine for this kind of device.

If you are using vaping to stop smoking, your local NHS stop smoking service can provide advice, and many areas offer free or subsidised support. Nicotine is addictive, and this product is for adults only.

Who the XROS 4 Mini suits, and who should skip it

No device suits everybody, and being honest about the fit saves returns and disappointment. The XROS 4 Mini is aimed at a specific kind of user.

It is a good match if you:

  • Are a smoker or recent ex-smoker who wants a straightforward device with no menus, no wattage dials and no learning curve
  • Prefer a discreet device that fits in a pocket or a small bag
  • Want to move away from disposables, now banned in the UK, and keep the same simplicity while spending less over time
  • Like choosing your own flavours and nicotine strength rather than being locked into what is in a sealed unit
  • Want replacement pods that are easy to find in most UK vape shops and online
  • Value mesh coil flavour at an entry-level price

You may want to look elsewhere if you:

  • Want large clouds or a sub-ohm style draw. This is a mouth-to-lung and tight restricted-lung device, and a pod kit with variable wattage or an adjustable box mod would suit you better.
  • Need fine control over wattage and temperature. The XROS 4 Mini is intentionally simple.
  • Have large hands and dislike small devices.
  • Use very sweet dessert liquids all day and do not want to replace pods frequently.
  • Want a device with a large tank that goes several days between fills. The 2ml UK limit makes that unrealistic on any compliant pod kit.
  • Do not currently smoke or vape. Nicotine is addictive, and there is no reason to start.

If you are a first-time vaper, the 0.8 ohm pod, a 10mg to 20mg nicotine salt to suit your smoking level, and a flavour you actually like are the settings most likely to give you a smooth start. If you are more experienced and prefer a warmer draw, the 0.6 ohm pod at a lower strength is worth trying.

It is also a sensible second device. Plenty of users keep a Mini as a pocket carry unit alongside a larger kit at home.

How to set up and use the kit

Setting up the XROS 4 Mini takes a couple of minutes, and doing it carefully the first time avoids most of the early problems people run into.

  • Step 1: Unbox and check. Take out the device, pods and cable. Check the pod for visible cracks or a missing bung.
  • Step 2: Charge first. Give the device a full charge before first use. It will usually arrive with some charge, but a full first cycle is a good habit.
  • Step 3: Fill the pod. Pull the pod out, lift the silicone bung on the fill port and fill with your chosen liquid. Aim to stop just below the top of the liquid window. Do not fill the central air tube, and wipe away any spills before reseating the bung.
  • Step 4: Press the bung fully home. A half-seated bung is a classic cause of leaks.
  • Step 5: Let it prime. Wait for five to ten minutes after filling so the cotton can soak fully. Skipping this is the number one reason new coils taste burnt.
  • Step 6: Fit the pod. Push it firmly into the device until it clicks.
  • Step 7: Take a few gentle draws. Use short, soft pulls without firing for long, to finish priming the coil.
  • Step 8: Set the airflow. Start in the middle and adjust until the draw feels comfortable.

Using the device day to day is simply a matter of inhaling on the mouthpiece. If your unit has a power-control or mode feature on the button, the quick reference leaflet in the box will describe what the clicks do on your version. Many Vaporesso devices use a series of presses on the button for locking or unlocking, so read that leaflet if the device appears to have stopped responding.

Refill when the liquid drops to about a quarter of the window, never when it is completely empty. Running a coil dry is the quickest way to ruin it. Between refills, keep the device upright where you can, particularly in a bag or on a flight, because pressure changes and tilting can push liquid towards the airflow channel.

If you travel by plane, take the device with the pod empty or nearly empty, and refill after landing.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with a pod kit have simple causes. Work through the likely ones before assuming the device is faulty.

  • The device does not fire. Check the pod is fully seated, wipe the pod contacts and the device contacts with a dry cloth, and check the battery. If the LED flashes when you inhale, the battery may be flat or the pod may not be connecting.
  • Burnt taste. Usually an unprimed coil, a pod that has run low, or a coil at the end of its life. Prime properly, refill, and if the taste persists after a full tank, swap the pod. Switching to a very sweet liquid on an older coil also causes this.
  • Gurgling or spitting. Often too much liquid or a flooded coil. Remove the pod, blow gently through the mouthpiece with the fill port closed to clear the air channel, and wipe the mouthpiece. Fill slightly lower next time.
  • Leaking. Check the bung is fully seated, avoid overfilling and look for cracks in the pod. Leaking is more common when the pod is over a week old, when you keep the device on its side, or after temperature changes.
  • Weak vapour or poor flavour. Check airflow, check the liquid level and consider the coil's age. Thick liquids with a very high vegetable glycerin content can also reduce wicking performance. Stick to a balanced liquid.
  • Throat is harsh. Drop a nicotine strength, open the airflow or try a different flavour. Some menthol liquids feel sharper than others at the same strength.
  • Short battery life. Make sure the charger and cable are working. If battery life drops suddenly, the cable is a more likely culprit than the cell.
  • Flashing LED. This usually indicates a short circuit, a poor pod connection or a protection state. Remove and refit the pod, then try again.

If you have run through these steps and the device still misbehaves, stop using it and get in touch with us with your order details and a description of what is happening. Do not try to open the body or charge a swollen or hot device. A faulty lithium battery should be treated as a safety matter, and a damaged unit should go straight to a battery recycling point.

Always keep the original box and packaging for the first couple of weeks, because it will make any warranty or returns process simpler.

Value for money and how it compares

The XROS 4 Mini sits in the entry-to-mid price tier of pod kits. The device itself is a one-off cost, and the ongoing costs are pods and liquid. This is where refillable kits pull ahead of the disposables they replaced: a bottle of 10ml nicotine salt liquid lasts several refills of a 2ml pod, and a pod costs a fraction of the price of a new disposable. For a regular user, the kit usually pays for itself within a few weeks compared with buying disposable-style units.

A simple way to think about running costs:

  • Device: a one-off purchase that should last well over a year with sensible care.
  • Pods: roughly one every one to three weeks, depending on use and liquid.
  • Liquid: priced per 10ml bottle, with each bottle filling a 2ml pod around five times.

How it compares, fairly. The category has several credible rivals and the choice is closer than marketing suggests:

  • Uwell Caliburn series. Also an established refillable pod family with mesh-style coils and wide availability. The Caliburn range tends to lean towards a slightly more flavour-forward presentation, while the XROS Mini is smaller and simpler. Pick on the pod format you prefer.
  • SMOK Novo series. Another well-known pod system with a similar capacity class. Build and finish are competitive, and the choice often comes down to colours and which pod ecosystem a local shop stocks.
  • Geekvape Wenax series. Aimed at similar users, with some models offering a more robust, rugged build. If you are hard on devices, they are worth a look.
  • OXVA Xlim series. Often chosen by users who want slightly more adjustment and a more premium feel, usually at a higher price than the XROS Mini.
  • Larger Vaporesso models. The standard XROS 4 and the Luxe range offer more battery or more control for people who find the Mini too basic.

Where the XROS 4 Mini stands out is the combination of small size, a recognised mesh coil, and easy pod availability. Where it gives ground is outright power, wattage control and battery size relative to larger kits. If the compact size is what you need, it is a strong value choice. If you value adjustability, spend a little more on a larger device.

Always compare the pod price as well as the device price, because the pod is the part you will buy again and again.

UK rules, safe use and recycling

Vaping products sold in the UK are regulated, and it helps to know the main rules that apply to a refillable kit like the XROS 4 Mini.

  • Age. You must be 18 or over to buy and to use. We check age at checkout, and carriers may ask for ID on delivery.
  • Nicotine strength. E-liquid for refillable devices is capped at 20mg/ml of nicotine, and a single bottle cannot exceed 10ml. These are the same caps that applied to disposables before they were banned.
  • Tank and pod size. Refillable pods and tanks are limited to 2ml in the UK, which is why UK-edition pods are smaller than versions you may see abroad.
  • Disposables. Single-use vapes are no longer legal to supply in the UK. Refillable kits like this one are the practical alternative.
  • Warnings. Nicotine e-liquid carries a health warning on the bottle. Keep liquids out of reach of children and pets and wipe away spills promptly.

Recycling. Never put a vape device or a battery in household waste or general recycling. They contain a lithium cell and electronic components. In the UK, shops that sell vaping products are required to take back used vapes, and many councils run drop-off points at household waste recycling centres. Look for a battery recycling point or use the store drop-off scheme near you. Empty pods and the device should be recycled together; if the pod still contains liquid, empty it first onto absorbent paper.

Everyday safety.

  • Use the supplied or a reputable USB-C cable.
  • Do not carry the device loose with coins or keys, as contact with metal can damage the finish and, in rare cases, the contacts.
  • If the device becomes hot, swells, smells odd or leaks, stop using it, unplug it and take it to a recycling point.
  • Keep the device out of reach of children and pets.

Vaping is not risk-free, and nicotine is addictive. It is intended as an alternative for adult smokers, and people who have never smoked should not start. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, speak to a healthcare professional before using any nicotine product.

Frequently asked questions

Which nicotine strength should I choose for the Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini?

Heavier smokers usually get on well with a 20mg nicotine salt on the 0.8 ohm pod, while lighter smokers and people cutting down tend to prefer 10mg to 12mg. The 0.6 ohm pod delivers more vapour per puff, so drop a strength if you use that coil. UK law caps e-liquid at 20mg/ml, so you cannot legally buy anything stronger.

How do I charge it and how long does it take?

Charge it through the USB-C port at the base with any standard phone charger or computer port. A full charge takes roughly an hour, and the LED shows when it is complete. Avoid leaving it charging unattended or overnight on soft furnishings.

Can I change flavour or does the kit come in different flavours?

The kit has no built-in flavour, because you fill the pod with your own e-liquid. The 11 variants of this product are colour finishes. To change flavour, use the pod down to near empty or fit a fresh one, as the mesh coil holds some of the previous taste in its cotton.

How long does a pod and a charge last?

A 2ml fill typically lasts a moderate user around a day to a day and a half, and a full charge usually lasts a day or more depending on your habits. A pod itself generally lasts one to three weeks before the flavour fades, with sweet liquids shortening that. Pods are consumables, so plan to replace them regularly.

Is it good value compared with disposables?

For regular vapers, yes. After the initial kit cost, you pay only for pods and liquid, and a 10ml bottle fills a 2ml pod about five times. Disposables are also no longer legal to supply in the UK, so a refillable kit is the practical route.

Who should buy the XROS 4 Mini and who should not?

It suits adult smokers and vapers who want a small, simple, low-maintenance device with a mesh coil. It is not ideal if you want large clouds, wattage control or a big tank, and it is not for anyone who does not already use nicotine. You must be 18 or over to buy.

Do you deliver to the UK and how is age checked?

Yes, we deliver across the UK. Age is verified at checkout, and the courier may ask for proof of age on delivery. Check the delivery page for current options and timescales.

What is the warranty and what if my kit arrives faulty?

Faulty kits are covered under your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act, and Vaporesso devices normally carry a manufacturer warranty. Contact us with your order number and a description or photo of the fault, and keep the packaging. Pods and coils are consumables and are not usually covered for normal wear.

Why does my pod leak or taste burnt?

Leaks usually come from overfilling or a half-seated silicone bung, so fill below the maximum line and press the bung fully home. A burnt taste is most often an unprimed coil or one near the end of its life. Let a new pod soak for five to ten minutes, then replace it if the taste continues.

How should I recycle the kit when I am done with it?

Never put it in household bins. Take the device to a battery recycling point or a household waste recycling centre, or hand it back to a shop that takes used vapes. Empty any remaining liquid onto absorbent paper first.

Better than my last brand

Picked this up on the multibuy deal and I'm stocked up for a while. Flavours are all on point.

Convinced my mate to switch too

Great product for the price point. Works exactly as advertised. No surprises, just a solid vape.

Quality is there

Not too strong, not too mild — just right. Good for all day use without being overpowering.
