Overview: what the Vaptio Paragon 0.15 Ohm coil pack is

The Vaptio Paragon Coils (Pack of 5) 0.15 Ohm are replacement atomiser coils for sub-ohm vaping. Each pack contains five coil heads, every one rated at 0.15 ohms, made by Vaptio for use with its Paragon tank. If you already run a Paragon device, these are the consumable part you swap out every so often, in the same way you would change a razor blade or a toothbrush head.

A coil is the part of the tank that actually makes vapour. It is a heating element sitting in or against a wad of cotton, mounted in the base of the tank. E-liquid wicks into the cotton, the device sends current through the element, the element heats up, and the liquid turns into vapour. Over time, sugars and flavouring compounds in the liquid bake onto the element and the cotton, and the coil gradually loses flavour and output. That is not a fault. It is simply what happens to every coil from every brand, which is why a multipack makes sense: five coils cover several weeks to a couple of months of regular use before you need to reorder.

The 0.15 ohm rating puts this coil at the low-resistance, high-power end of sub-ohm vaping. It is built for direct-to-lung (DTL) inhaling, where you draw vapour straight into your lungs in one long, relaxed breath instead of holding it in your mouth first. That style suits big, warm, airy clouds and a fairly loose airflow setting. If you prefer a tight, cigarette-like draw, a higher-resistance coil or a pod system is a better match, and we say more about that further down.

What you get in the box:

  • 5 x replacement coil heads, each at 0.15 ohm
  • Vaptio-branded coils designed for the Paragon tank
  • No battery, tank, charger or e-liquid included, as this is a consumable accessory

A quick word on compatibility. Always match the coil to the exact tank you own. Coil bases are not interchangeable between brands, and sometimes not between different tanks from the same brand. Check the model name on your tank or its box against the product listing before ordering, and if you are unsure, contact us with a photo of your tank and we will confirm before you buy.

Key specifications and what they mean in practice

Spec sheets can look like a wall of numbers, so here is what matters for this coil and how it affects your day-to-day vaping. Where a figure depends on your device or settings, we say so rather than guess.

  • Resistance: 0.15 ohm. This is very low, which means the coil draws a lot of current and heats quickly at a given wattage.
  • Pack size: 5 coils. At normal use that is roughly five to ten weeks of vaping, depending on how sweet your e-liquid is and how hard you vape.
  • Vaping style: direct-to-lung sub-ohm. Not designed for mouth-to-lung inhaling.
  • Typical power window: coils at this resistance are usually run somewhere in the region of 40W to 70W, but the exact range is printed on the coil or its packaging and you should follow that figure, not ours, if they differ.
  • Recommended e-liquid: high-VG blends such as 70VG/30PG or 80VG/20PG, which wick well and produce dense vapour. A 50/50 blend works but can gurgle or burn if the coil is pushed hard.
  • Wicking material: sub-ohm coils of this type conventionally use organic cotton. Check the pack for the exact element material.
  • Tank capacity in the UK: refillable tanks sold for nicotine e-liquid are limited to 2ml, so you will refill often with a low-resistance coil.

Two numbers worth working out for yourself are current and voltage. Using Ohm's law, a 0.15 ohm coil fired at 50W needs about 2.7 volts and draws roughly 18 amps. At 60W that rises to about 3.0 volts and 20 amps. Those are real loads for a battery to supply, which is why the battery section below matters as much as the coil itself.

We have deliberately avoided quoting a puff count. Puffs per coil depend entirely on your wattage, puff length, liquid sweetness and how well you prime the coil, so any single number would be a guess. As a practical guide, many vapers get one to two weeks from a coil at this resistance, and heavy users or those on sweet dessert liquids sometimes get less.

Performance and vapour delivery

This is where a 0.15 ohm coil earns its place. Low resistance plus a large heating surface means the coil reaches vaping temperature quickly and puts out a lot of vapour per second. Fire it at a sensible wattage with a free airflow setting and you get a thick, warm, dense draw that fills the lungs quickly. If you are coming from a 0.4 or 0.6 ohm coil, the difference in volume is easy to notice.

Ramp-up time, the delay between pressing the fire button and the vapour arriving, is short at this resistance. You should not have to hold the button for a beat before the coil responds. That makes the vape feel immediate, which many people prefer over the slower, softer response of higher-resistance coils.

A few practical points about performance:

  • Wattage matters. Start at the low end of the range printed on the coil and work upwards in small steps. Running too low gives a cool, muted vape with thin flavour. Running too high gives a hot, harsh draw and shortens the coil's life.
  • Airflow matters. A 0.15 ohm coil needs plenty of air. Close the airflow too far and the vapour becomes hot and the coil struggles to cool, which can lead to dry-feeling hits.
  • Puff length matters. Three to five seconds is a comfortable range. Very long puffs at high power can outrun the cotton's ability to re-wet, which causes dry hits.
  • Liquid thickness matters. High-VG liquids are thicker and wick more slowly. If you use an 80VG liquid, give the coil a few seconds between puffs to catch up.

Liquid consumption is the trade-off. A coil at this resistance and power will go through e-liquid noticeably faster than a mouth-to-lung setup. It is normal to burn through a 10ml bottle of nicotine liquid considerably faster than you would on a pod kit. If you vape heavily, factor that into your running costs and consider a larger-volume shortfill with nicotine shots, which we cover in the nicotine section.

In short, expect large, warm vapour and fast response, paid for with higher e-liquid and battery use. That is the nature of sub-ohm vaping at this resistance rather than a quirk of this particular coil.

Flavour profile

Coils do not have a flavour of their own, but they shape how your e-liquid tastes. A low-resistance coil at moderate-to-high power produces a warm vapour, and warmth tends to open up sweet, rich flavours. Dessert, custard, bakery, fruit candy and cola-style liquids usually come across rounded and full. Fruit blends often taste juicy rather than sharp, with the sweetness pushed forward.

Where a 0.15 ohm coil can struggle is with delicate flavours. Subtle tobacco blends, light mint, fresh cucumber-style notes and some very crisp menthol profiles can lose definition at high power, because the heat flattens the finer top notes. If you want those flavours to stay distinct, run the wattage towards the lower end of the coil's range and open the airflow slightly to cool the vapour.

Things that affect flavour more than people expect:

  • Fresh coils taste cleaner. The first few tanks on a new coil are usually the clearest. If the flavour feels flat after a week or two, the coil is probably ageing rather than your liquid going off.
  • Priming affects the first impression. A properly soaked coil tastes clean from the first puff. A dry or half-primed coil tastes of scorched cotton and can ruin a new coil within a couple of minutes.
  • Sweet liquids age coils faster. High-sweetener liquids leave residue on the element, so the flavour fades sooner. If you rotate between sweet and non-sweet liquids, you may find the coil lasts longer on the latter.
  • Switching liquids can leave ghosting. If you move from a strong menthol to a fruit liquid on the same coil, traces of the old flavour linger. Many vapers keep a coil dedicated to each flavour family, or fit a fresh coil when they change profile completely.

None of this is unique to Vaptio. It is how sub-ohm coils behave. What you can reasonably expect from this pack is consistent, clean flavour early in each coil's life, with sweet and rich liquids showing well and delicate profiles needing a little more care with settings.

Design and build quality

A coil head looks simple, but there is a fair amount of engineering in something about the size of a thumb joint. The usual construction is a metal housing with a threaded or press-fit base, a ceramic or plastic insulator separating the electrical contacts, a heating element, and cotton packed against the element with wicking holes cut into the housing so the liquid can reach it. The Vaptio Paragon coil follows this conventional layout for sub-ohm tank coils.

What to look at when you unbox a coil:

  • Housing and seals. The coil body should be clean, straight and free of dents. Rubber or silicone seals should sit flat and not look pinched or twisted. A damaged seal is the most common cause of leaking.
  • Contact pin. The central pin at the base should be intact and clean. This is what connects to the battery's positive terminal through the tank, so keep it free of liquid and debris.
  • Wicking holes. You should be able to see the openings on the side of the housing. These are where liquid enters. Keep them clear and do not poke anything into them.
  • Cotton ends. Cotton at the top of the coil should look tidy and not frayed or stuffed unevenly.

Because the Paragon coil is designed for one tank, the fit is tight when it is correct. It should seat firmly and screw or press in without cross-threading or forcing. If it feels loose or needs excessive force, stop and check you have the right coil for your tank.

Sub-ohm coils are consumable and inexpensive per unit, so build quality is judged by consistency across the pack rather than longevity of a single coil. When five come in one box, you want them to behave alike. If you find that one coil in the pack performs noticeably differently from the others, or a coil arrives damaged, contact us with your order number and a photo so we can sort it out. We cover this in the FAQ section.

The packaging is also worth keeping until you have used all five coils. The resistance and recommended wattage range are printed on it, and you may want to refer back to those figures when you adjust your settings.

Coil and mesh technology at 0.15 ohm

To understand why a 0.15 ohm coil behaves the way it does, it helps to know the two main ways makers reach very low resistance. We describe the technology in general terms here, and the exact construction and element material of your coils is printed on the pack.

Round-wire coils. Traditional coils wrap one or more strands of resistance wire around a cotton core. To reach 0.15 ohm you need several strands twisted or wrapped together, which makes the coil physically bulky. The heating surface is a set of loops, and the heat is concentrated around those loops.

Mesh coils. A mesh coil replaces the wire loops with a thin, flat sheet of metal mesh rolled or folded against the cotton. The sheet has a much larger surface area in contact with the cotton, so more liquid is vapourised at once and the heat is spread more evenly. Mesh designs are popular in sub-ohm tanks because they can deliver dense vapour and good flavour with a short ramp-up time. The trade-off is that a mesh coil can be more demanding on wicking: if the cotton cannot feed liquid across the whole mesh quickly enough, parts of it overheat and you get a burnt taste.

At 0.15 ohm, either construction behaves the same way electrically: low resistance means high current. Practical consequences:

  • It needs a capable power source. A weak battery will sag under the load, giving poor performance and reducing safety margins.
  • It heats very fast. A coil that ramps up in a fraction of a second can overshoot if the cotton is dry, so priming is essential.
  • It benefits from high-VG liquid and open airflow. These keep the cotton wet and the vapour cool.
  • It is a power user's coil. Many modern devices adjust output automatically. If yours has a temperature-control or smart-power mode, check that it supports coils at this resistance before relying on it.

The wicking material is normally organic cotton, which carries liquid well and has little taste of its own. Before first use it should always be soaked, as covered in the how-to section. We recommend reading the printed spec on your pack to confirm whether you have a mesh or wire design, and then setting your wattage with that in mind.

Battery, power and charging

The coil itself has no battery. Its performance depends on the device it sits in, and a 0.15 ohm coil is one of the more demanding loads you can fit to a vape. Understanding how it uses power will help you vape safely and get a sensible run time.

Here is the maths for a 0.15 ohm coil, calculated from Ohm's law:

  • 40W: about 2.4 volts, roughly 16 amps
  • 50W: about 2.7 volts, roughly 18 amps
  • 60W: about 3.0 volts, roughly 20 amps
  • 70W: about 3.2 volts, roughly 22 amps

If your device uses removable cells, the battery you choose must have a continuous discharge rating comfortably above these figures. A cell rated for a continuous 25A or more is a sensible floor for the lower end of this range, and higher-rated cells give more headroom at higher wattage. Never rely on a cell's peak rating, and never use a cell without a clear rating or from an unknown source. Use genuine cells from reputable suppliers, keep them in cases when not in the device, and replace any cell with torn wrapping.

For run time, think of it as a rough rule of thumb. A 3000mAh cell supplying 18 amps would, in theory, be depleted after around 10 minutes of continuous firing. Real vaping is made of short puffs with gaps, and voltage drops as the cell empties, so you should treat any estimate as approximate. Many people find a single 18650 cell lasts a few hours of normal use at around 50W, and heavy users carry a spare.

If your Paragon device has a built-in battery, the same principle applies. A higher wattage drains it faster, so dropping the output by 5W to 10W can extend a charge noticeably with a small impact on vapour production.

Charging guidance:

  • Use the charger supplied with the device, or a quality charger from a reputable maker.
  • Never leave a battery charging unattended or overnight, and never charge on a bed or sofa.
  • Stop using any cell that gets unusually hot, swollen or damaged.
  • Do not carry loose cells in a pocket with keys or coins.

Spent cells should not go in your household bin. They can be taken to a battery recycling bin at many supermarkets and household waste recycling centres, and most UK vape shops can also accept them. We cover recycling in more detail below.

Nicotine strength guidance for UK vapers

The coil does not contain nicotine, but the e-liquid you pair it with decides how a 0.15 ohm setup feels, and getting the strength wrong is the most common reason new sub-ohm users have a bad experience.

In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is legally capped at 20mg/ml, and nicotine liquids are sold in bottles of 10ml or less. That 20mg/ml ceiling also applied to disposable vapes, which are no longer sold in the UK following the single-use vape ban that took effect on 1 June 2025, so refillable devices like those using these coils are now the main route. Refillable tanks sold with nicotine liquid are limited to 2ml.

High-power, high-airflow vaping delivers a large volume of vapour with every puff, so the nicotine strength should be much lower than you would use in a pod kit. A reasonable starting framework:

  • 0mg: for nicotine-free vapers and people who are well down the road of reducing.
  • 3mg freebase: a common starting point for DTL at this resistance for ex-smokers of light-to-moderate habits.
  • 6mg freebase: for people who want a bit more throat and nicotine satisfaction, or who were heavier smokers.
  • 12mg and above: usually too harsh for sub-ohm DTL, as each puff delivers a lot of nicotine and the throat hit becomes unpleasant.

Nicotine salts, usually sold at 10mg/ml to 20mg/ml, are designed for low-power pod devices and are generally a poor match for a 0.15 ohm coil. At 50W or more, the volume of vapour combined with that strength is likely to be harsh and may deliver far more nicotine than you want. If you use salts, a lower strength or a different device is a better route.

Many sub-ohm vapers use shortfills. These are 50ml or 100ml bottles of nicotine-free liquid with room left for nicotine shots. A 10ml, 18mg/ml shot added to a 50ml shortfill gives you roughly 3mg/ml, which is a typical sub-ohm strength. It is also cheaper per millilitre than buying small nicotine bottles. Remember that nicotine is addictive and that you should only vape if you are an adult smoker or existing vaper. If you do not smoke, you should not start vaping.

If you are unsure what strength to pick, start low. It is easier to move up a notch than to cope with nicotine that is too strong. The NHS Smokefree service and local stop-smoking services can give free, personalised help to anyone trying to quit.

Who these coils suit, and who should look elsewhere

The Vaptio Paragon 0.15 ohm coil is a specific tool, and being honest about who it suits helps you avoid wasting money.

Good fit if you:

  • already own a compatible Vaptio Paragon tank and need replacements
  • enjoy large, warm, direct-to-lung vapour
  • use a device that can safely supply the power a 0.15 ohm coil needs
  • vape low-nicotine or nicotine-free high-VG liquids, such as shortfills
  • prefer a quick-response, high-airflow vape to a tight draw
  • want a multipack so you always have a spare coil on hand

Look elsewhere if you:

  • are new to vaping and ex-smoking. A mouth-to-lung pod kit with a higher-resistance coil is usually a gentler, cheaper and more satisfying starting point.
  • use high-strength nicotine salts. They are not designed for this kind of setup.
  • want long battery life from a small built-in battery. Low-resistance coils drain power quickly.
  • vape mostly in situations where large clouds are inappropriate, such as indoors where vaping is not welcome or in shared spaces.
  • do not own a compatible tank. Coils are not interchangeable between brands and models, so a coil without the right tank is of no use.
  • are under 18. It is illegal to sell vaping products to anyone under 18 in the UK, and we will not do so.

It is also worth being clear that vaping is not risk-free. It is widely considered substantially less harmful than smoking, and UK public health bodies support it as a quitting aid for adult smokers, but it is not harmless and it is not intended for non-smokers. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are unsure whether vaping is right for you, speak to your GP or pharmacist.

If you are currently deciding between sub-ohm and mouth-to-lung, think about how you like to inhale. If you draw into your mouth first and then inhale, you are a mouth-to-lung vaper. If you breathe vapour straight in, you are direct-to-lung. This coil is designed for the second group.

How to fit, prime and use the coils

Good technique makes a bigger difference to coil life and flavour than almost anything else. Follow these steps every time you fit a new coil.

Step 1: Switch the device off. If your device allows you to lock it, do so before you disassemble the tank. Empty the tank if you are changing a coil that has been in use.

Step 2: Remove the old coil. Unscrew the tank base or open it as your tank design requires, then unscrew or pull out the used coil. Rinse the tank and base in warm water, dry them fully with a lint-free cloth, and let any residue evaporate before reassembly.

Step 3: Prime the new coil. This is the step people skip and regret. Drip a few drops of e-liquid directly into each wicking hole on the side of the coil, and a drop or two into the central chimney of the coil head. Give it a minute or two to soak in. The cotton should look wet and darker, with no dry white patches.

Step 4: Fit the coil and fill the tank. Screw or press the coil in firmly, without over-tightening. Fill the tank with e-liquid to just below the maximum line, taking care not to overfill the central airflow chimney. Replace the top cap.

Step 5: Wait. Leave the filled tank to stand for five to ten minutes so the cotton can absorb the liquid evenly. A freshly filled coil that has not had time to saturate will taste burnt.

Step 6: Start low. Set the device to the bottom of the wattage range printed on your coil, take a couple of gentle puffs with the airflow open, and then increase gradually until you are happy with the flavour and warmth.

General good practice while in use:

  • Take short, steady puffs rather than long, hard ones.
  • Do not chain-vape heavily. Give the coil a few seconds between puffs so the cotton can re-wet.
  • Keep your tank at least a third full. Running low risks dry hits.
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavour fades or you notice a burnt taste, instead of pushing it further.
  • Keep vaping equipment away from children and pets, and store e-liquid securely.

Used coils contain cotton, metal and residue, and they should be bagged and taken to a vape recycling point rather than put in the general bin. See the recycling notes in the final section.

Troubleshooting common coil problems

Most coil problems come down to a handful of causes, and most are easy to fix. Work through these in order.

Burnt or acrid taste. The most common cause is a dry or under-primed coil. Remove the tank, re-prime the coil with a few drops of liquid, let it soak, and try again at a lower wattage. If it still tastes burnt after priming and a few tanks, the coil may be spent or damaged by a dry hit and should be replaced. Burnt cotton cannot be un-burnt.

Gurgling or spitting. Excess liquid has pooled in the airflow path. Wipe the drip tip and airflow area, fit the tank upright, and slightly reduce how much you fill the tank. Very thick liquids can also cause this if the airflow is too restricted.

Leaking from the base. Check that the coil is firmly seated, that the seals are undamaged and flat, and that the tank is not overfilled. Overtightening or cross-threading can also cause leaks. If a seal is visibly damaged, replace the coil.

Weak vapour or flat flavour. The coil may be reaching the end of its life. Residue builds up over time and insulates the element. If the coil is only a few days old, check your wattage, airflow and that you are not running a low-VG liquid that is wicking too freely, or an overly thick one that is wicking too slowly.

Dry hits. Often caused by long puffs, too-high wattage, a low tank, or thick liquid. Reduce wattage, shorten puffs, refill the tank and let the coil rest between puffs.

Device shows an atomiser or short-circuit error. Unscrew the tank and clean the contact surfaces on both the tank base and the device with a dry cotton bud. Make sure the coil is seated and that the contact pin is clean and undamaged. If the error persists with another coil from the same pack, test the tank on a different device if you can, or contact us for help.

Coil lifespan feels short. Sweet liquids, high wattage and chain vaping all shorten coil life. Dropping the wattage a few steps usually makes a visible difference.

If none of this resolves the problem, keep the packaging and contact us with your order number, a description of the issue and a clear photo. If a coil is genuinely faulty, we will put it right.

Value for money, comparisons and recycling

A five-pack is the standard way to buy replacement coils, and it is usually cheaper per coil than buying them singly. Whether it is good value for you depends on how long each coil lasts. If you get around a week and a half per coil, the pack covers roughly seven to eight weeks. If you get two weeks per coil, it covers around ten. Divide the pack price by the number of weeks and you have a monthly coil cost that you can compare with other options.

Compared with other approaches:

  • Versus other brands' sub-ohm coils. Plenty of other makers offer low-resistance mesh coils for their own tanks, including Voopoo's PnP range, GeekVape's coil lines and Smok's mesh coils. Each is built for its own hardware, so the real question is not which brand's coil is better in the abstract, but which tank you own. If you own a Paragon, you need a Paragon-compatible coil.
  • Versus higher-resistance coils. Coils at 0.6 to 1.0 ohm use less power and less liquid and suit mouth-to-lung vaping. They are cheaper to run but give smaller, cooler vapour. If you want clouds, you will not get them from a higher-resistance coil.
  • Versus pod kits with pre-filled or refillable pods. Pods are simpler and more compact and are well suited to ex-smokers who want a cigarette-like draw. They use higher nicotine strengths, which suit that draw, but the hardware is less flexible.
  • Versus rebuildable atomisers. Building your own coils is cheaper per use but needs skill, tools and care. It is not recommended for beginners.

Where this coil is strong is simplicity: plug-in, prime, vape. Where it is limited is the narrow use case, as it only fits the tank it was made for and only suits one vaping style. We think that is a fair description rather than a weakness.

Recycling and disposal. Used coils and spent batteries should not go in household rubbish or mixed recycling. Vape hardware counts as waste electrical equipment, and lithium batteries in the general bin are a known fire hazard in refuse lorries and recycling plants. In the UK, you can take used vape parts and batteries to vape-recycling drop-off points, which are available at many vape shops and at household waste recycling centres. Many supermarkets also have battery recycling bins. Check your local council website for the nearest site. Bag used coils before you take them, and keep batteries in a case or with their terminals taped.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I use with 0.15 ohm coils?

Most people using a 0.15 ohm coil for direct-to-lung vaping choose 0mg to 6mg freebase nicotine, with 3mg being a common starting point. High-strength nicotine salts are designed for low-power devices and are usually too harsh at this power level. UK nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml, but a sub-ohm setup rarely needs anything close to that.

How do I charge the device these coils fit in?

The coils themselves do not charge, as they are a replacement part. Charge your Paragon device using the supplied USB cable or the external charger that suits your cells, never leave it charging unattended or overnight, and stop using any battery that is damaged or gets unusually hot. A 0.15 ohm coil draws high current, so a low battery will cause a noticeable drop in performance.

Can I change flavour on the same coil, and are there different variants?

You can switch flavours on the same coil, but some ghosting of the previous flavour is common, particularly when moving from menthol or strong sweet liquids to lighter ones. If you change flavour profile completely, a fresh coil gives the cleanest result. This listing is for the 0.15 ohm version in a pack of 5, so check the Vaptio range for other resistances.

How long does a coil last?

Many vapers get around one to two weeks from a coil at this resistance, so a five-pack typically lasts several weeks to a couple of months. Sweet liquids, high wattage and chain vaping shorten life, while good priming, moderate power and rest between puffs extend it. Replace the coil when flavour fades or you notice a burnt taste.

Is a pack of five good value?

A multipack is generally cheaper per coil than buying coils singly, and it means you always have a spare when one runs out. To judge value for yourself, divide the pack price by the number of weeks you expect it to last. Higher-resistance coils cost less to run but do not produce the same volume of vapour.

Who should buy these coils, and who should not?

They suit adult smokers and vapers who already own a compatible Vaptio Paragon tank and enjoy warm, high-airflow, direct-to-lung vaping on low-nicotine liquid. They are not suited to complete beginners, people who want a tight mouth-to-lung draw, those using high-strength nicotine salts, or anyone who does not smoke. Vaping is not risk-free, and it is illegal to sell to under-18s in the UK.

Will these coils fit my tank?

They are made for the Vaptio Paragon tank and are not interchangeable with other brands. Check the model name on your tank or its box against this listing before ordering. If you are not sure, contact us with a photo and we will confirm for you before you buy.

Do you deliver across the UK, and is there an age check?

We deliver to UK addresses, and the available delivery options and prices are shown at checkout. You must be 18 or over to buy vaping products, and we may ask for age verification at checkout or on delivery. Please check your order confirmation email for tracking details.

What if my coils are faulty, or I need to return them?

If a coil arrives damaged or is faulty, contact us with your order number and a clear photo and we will arrange a replacement or refund in line with your statutory rights. For unwanted items, please see our returns policy, as coils that have been opened, fitted or used may not be eligible for return for hygiene reasons. Keep the packaging until you have confirmed that the coils work with your tank.

Helped me cut down from fags

Switched from a well-known brand and this is actually better, especially for the price. Will reorder.
