SMOK Morph Pod 40 Starter Kit overview

The SMOK Morph Pod 40 Starter Kit is a refillable pod vape from SMOK, a manufacturer that has been producing vaping hardware for well over a decade and has a long record in the UK market. The name gives you the headline figure: a 40W maximum output. That sits above the entry-level pod kits that top out around 15 to 25W, and below the larger pod-mod hybrids that run at 60W or more. In practical terms it is aimed at vapers who want something that still slips into a jacket pocket but can deliver warmer, fuller vapour than the smallest pod devices manage.

This is a starter kit, which means the hardware is intended to get you going as soon as you add e-liquid. The kit does not arrive filled. You choose your own e-liquid, your own nicotine strength and, over time, your own flavours. That is the main difference between a refillable pod system and the single-use devices that many UK vapers relied on until recently, and it is the reason a kit like this tends to be cheaper to run over a few months even though the upfront cost is higher.

That difference matters more now than it used to. Single-use vapes have been banned from sale in Great Britain since 1 June 2025, so anyone who previously bought disposables has had to move to rechargeable or refillable hardware. A reusable kit such as the Morph Pod 40 is one of the routes people take: the battery is rechargeable, the pod can be refilled many times, and the parts that wear out in normal use are the coil and, eventually, the pod itself.

On the product page you will see a selector with ten variants of this kit. For a hardware kit these are normally colourways or finishes rather than flavours, because the device ships without e-liquid. Pick the finish you like and choose your e-liquid separately. If you are unsure which variant is which, check the product photos against the selector label before ordering.

  • Format: refillable pod kit with a built-in rechargeable battery
  • Maximum output: 40W, with most everyday vaping done well below that
  • Pod capacity: 2ml, which is the UK limit for refillable tanks and pods
  • E-liquid: not included, sold separately in bottles of up to 10ml
  • Maximum nicotine: 20mg/ml in the UK, which applies to every nicotine e-liquid you can buy for it
  • Age restriction: 18+ only, in line with UK law

The rest of this guide goes through what the kit does well, where it asks for compromises, and how it compares with the alternatives a UK vaper is likely to be weighing up. Where we give figures that depend on the exact production batch, such as battery capacity or coil resistance, we say so and point you to the printed markings on your own unit as the final word.

What is in the box and what you still need to buy

A starter kit should let you start, but with a refillable device there is always a short shopping list. The Morph Pod 40 kit includes the device itself, a pod with its coil ready to use, a charging cable and the printed paperwork. Exact contents can vary slightly between batches and between variants, so use the product images and the insert in your own box as the definitive list. If anything listed is missing on arrival, contact the shop straight away with a photo of the box contents.

What is not in the box is the part that surprises first-time buyers. There is no e-liquid, so the kit cannot be used until you have bought some. There is also usually no mains plug, only a cable. Any standard 5V USB charger will work, including the one from an old phone, provided it is in good condition. It is worth avoiding unbranded plugs of unknown origin, because a poorly made charger is the commonest source of battery problems with any rechargeable vape.

A sensible first order looks like this:

  • The kit itself in your preferred finish
  • One or two 10ml bottles of e-liquid in a nicotine strength matched to how much you smoked or vaped before (see the nicotine section below)
  • A spare pod or a spare set of coils so you are not stuck if the first one burns out in a fortnight
  • A decent USB wall charger if you do not already have one

On spares, remember that SMOK pods and coils are platform specific. A coil that fits one SMOK kit will not necessarily fit another, even if the two devices look similar on the shelf. Before you buy replacements, check the compatibility line on the product listing or the code printed on the side of the coil that came in your kit. Buying one spare at the same time as the kit is the simplest way to avoid ordering the wrong part later.

On e-liquid, a mesh-coil pod at this power level generally works well with a 50/50 mix of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine or a slightly thicker 60/40 or 70/30 VG-dominant blend. Very thick, high-VG liquids that are designed for sub-ohm tanks can wick slowly in a small pod and may cause dry hits. If a bottle is labelled for sub-ohm or direct-lung use at 3mg, it is probably not what you want for a pod kit. Look for bottles labelled for pod systems or nicotine salt liquids, which are formulated for exactly this style of device.

Finally, think about where the old kit will go when you are done with it. Lithium batteries cannot go in household rubbish or ordinary recycling, so find your nearest battery drop-off point or recycling centre before you need it. We cover that in more detail in the battery section.

Performance and vapour delivery at 40W

The 40W figure is a ceiling, not a target. Most pod coils are rated for a limited wattage window, and running them at the very top of that window shortens their life and can produce a harsh, slightly burnt flavour. For most people, the Morph Pod 40 earns its keep in the 18 to 30W range, where a mesh coil heats quickly, the liquid vaporises evenly and the battery is not being asked to deliver its maximum current on every puff. The extra headroom is there for when you want it, and also means the battery is not working at its limit during ordinary use, which tends to be kinder to long-term battery health.

In use, you should expect a warm vape rather than a cool one. Cooler, tight-draw devices suit people who want to mimic a cigarette. A 40W pod kit sits in the middle: it produces more vapour than a 12W starter pen, but it is not a direct-lung cloud machine. If you draw slowly through the mouthpiece, you get a tight, mouth-to-lung style inhale. If the airflow on your unit is adjustable, opening it up gives a looser, more open draw with larger vapour production, although flavour intensity usually drops a little as the air dilutes it.

Puff count on a refillable device is more useful when thought of in millilitres. A 2ml pod is roughly the same quantity of liquid as the pod in a typical disposable vape that was sold with a 600-puff label. At moderate power and a three-second draw, a fill of 2ml generally lasts a few hundred puffs, with 300 to 500 being a reasonable planning figure. Heavier use at higher wattage burns through the pod faster. The difference is that you refill rather than throw the device away, so the real number of puffs from one kit across its lifetime is many multiples of that.

Things worth paying attention to when judging performance:

  • Ramp-up time: mesh coils reach vaporising temperature quickly, so there should be no noticeable delay between pressing or drawing and getting vapour
  • Consistency: the last quarter of a pod should taste like the first. If flavour fades early, the coil is probably tired
  • Battery sag: some small devices lose power as the battery empties, so the vape becomes weaker the lower it gets. Expect a little of this on any device in this class
  • Throat hit: at 40W with high-strength nicotine salts, throat hit can be strong. Drop the wattage or the strength if you find it harsh

Compared with typical disposable vapes, the main performance gain is control. You can lower the power for a tight, smoker-like draw, or increase it for more vapour, and you can change the e-liquid to alter both flavour and nicotine delivery. That flexibility is the whole point of a refillable kit, and the 40W ceiling gives you more range to work with than the cheapest pods on the market.

Flavour profile and choosing e-liquid for this kit

A hardware kit does not have a flavour of its own. What the device and coil control is how faithfully the e-liquid you choose is reproduced. Mesh coils have a reputation for good flavour definition because the large heating surface warms the liquid evenly, so delicate notes such as a ripe strawberry or a light menthol are less likely to be flattened. That is a general property of mesh designs rather than a promise about every unit, but it is the reason mesh is the standard choice in current pod kits.

The practical question is which e-liquid to put in it. Here are eight styles that suit a mid-power pod kit, with a note on how each tends to behave:

  • Blue raspberry and berry ice blends: bright, sweet and cooling. Popular with people moving from disposables because they resemble the flavours of the most common single-use devices
  • Strawberry kiwi and other fruit mixes: clean, well-defined sweetness. They are easy on the coil and keep their flavour for the life of the pod
  • Mint, spearmint and menthol: light and refreshing. Menthol in small amounts adds a cool sensation and can soften the throat hit of stronger nicotine
  • Tobacco blends: typically lighter and sweeter than the smell of a cigarette. A good first step for people who want something close to a smoking experience
  • Cola, lemonade and soft-drink styles: sharp, citrusy and refreshing, usually a fairly thin liquid that wicks well
  • Mango, peach and tropical fruits: juicy and sweet, and a natural fit for the warm vapour of a 25 to 30W setup
  • Bubblegum and sweets: loud, very sweet flavours that taste strong even at low wattage
  • Dessert, custard and bakery flavours: rich and creamy. They taste great but contain more sweeteners, which leave residue and shorten coil life

If you like to move between flavour families, be aware of two practical points. First, sweet and creamy liquids are harder on coils because the sugars caramelise on the cotton and mesh. Expect a dessert-heavy diet to cost you more in replacement coils. Second, ghosting is real: the lingering memory of a previous strong flavour such as menthol can tint the next liquid you try. If you want to swap flavours often, use a dedicated pod or at least run the pod almost dry, rinse it with warm water, and let it dry fully before refilling.

As for the ten variants on this listing, do not expect them to alter the flavour. They are choices in appearance. If you want a recommendation on liquids, start with one fruit or ice blend and one tobacco or menthol option. Between them, they cover most tastes and let you work out whether you lean sweet, fresh or traditional before you stock up on more.

Design, ergonomics and build quality

The Morph Pod 40 follows the compact format that has become standard for modern pod kits: a slim body that houses the battery and electronics, with the pod seating into the top and a mouthpiece that sits comfortably between the lips. At this size it fits into a jeans pocket or small bag without bulk, and it is light enough to hold for extended sessions without hand fatigue. If you have used a larger device in the past, you will find it noticeably smaller, and if you are coming from a slim disposable you will find it a little chunkier but still very portable.

SMOK typically builds its pod kits with an alloy body and a plastic or composite pod, finished with a coating that gives each colourway its look. Coatings of this kind can pick up fine scratches if you carry the device in a pocket with keys or coins, so a small pouch or case is a sensible addition. A matte or soft-touch finish hides marks better than a glossy one, which is worth bearing in mind when you choose between the ten variants.

When your kit arrives, these are the checks worth making:

  • Pod seating: the pod should click or settle into the device firmly and not rattle. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it holds
  • Button feel: if your unit has a fire button, it should press crisply and return without sticking
  • Contacts: the metal contacts between pod and device should be clean and free of sticky residue
  • Mouthpiece comfort: check that the shape and width suit you. A broad, flat mouthpiece is comfortable for long draws, while a narrow one suits a tighter mouth-to-lung style
  • Fill port: the cover or plug over the fill port should seat snugly. A loose plug is the commonest cause of leaks

Two design points deserve honest mention. First, small pods rely on silicone seals, and those seals can wear or become dislodged if the pod is repeatedly pulled out and reinserted. If you notice leaking from the base of the pod, inspect the seals before blaming the coil. Second, pocket carry exposes the device to accidental firing if it has a button. If the kit includes a lock or off mode, use it whenever the vape is in a bag or pocket. This protects the coil from dry firing and prevents the battery draining when you are not using it.

Overall the build should be judged against its price band. It is not intended to be a premium device with a metal-milled finish, but it is designed to be handled daily for months, and that is the standard to hold it to. If you want a harder-wearing option, look at a case; if you want a specific colour, choose it at checkout rather than hoping to swap later.

Battery life and charging

The Morph Pod 40 uses a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, meaning you cannot swap in a spare cell as you would with a box mod. Kits in this category typically carry a battery in the region of 1,000 to 1,500mAh, and SMOK's 40W-class pod kits sit in that bracket. Because the capacity can differ between production runs and the figure is printed on the product packaging or insert, treat the number on your own unit as the accurate one and use the range here as a guide.

What that capacity means in practice depends on how you vape. At a moderate setting of around 20 to 25W, a battery in that range is usually good for somewhere between one and two pods of e-liquid before it needs a recharge. Heavy daily use or running near the 40W ceiling drains the battery faster, so a person who vapes constantly through the day should expect to charge once a day, possibly more. A lighter user who takes occasional puffs might get two or three days from a charge. If you find you are charging more often than you want to, reduce the wattage first; it is the single most effective change.

Charging happens over a USB cable. Current SMOK pod kits generally use a USB-C connection, which is reversible and simple to live with. A full charge from flat typically takes somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half using a standard 5V adapter. Fast charging bricks are not necessary, and using one that outputs a much higher current than the device expects does not help.

Sensible battery habits that extend the life of any pod vape:

  • Use a proper charger: a well-made 5V adapter or a computer USB port. Avoid cheap unmarked chargers
  • Do not charge unattended overnight: lithium cells are safe when treated properly, but there is no reason to take the risk
  • Keep it cool: do not charge or store the device in direct sunlight, a hot car or a pocket against your body while it is charging
  • Stop using it if it swells, smells or gets hot: a damaged battery should be taken out of service immediately
  • Do not run it flat repeatedly: topping up before the battery is completely empty is easier on the cell

When the kit finally reaches the end of its life, do not put it in the general bin or the household recycling box. Lithium batteries can ignite when crushed in collection vehicles and sorting plants. Take it to a battery drop-off point, a household waste recycling centre or a retailer that offers take-back for small electricals and vapes. Most councils list their nearest drop-off points online. If you can, remove the used pod and dispose of it with the device, as it also contains residual e-liquid and electronics.

Pod, coil and mesh technology

The coil is the part of the kit that does the real work, and understanding it helps you get a lot more from the device. The coil is a heating element wrapped around or built into a wick, usually organic cotton, that draws e-liquid from the pod and holds it against the heater. When you fire the device, the coil heats the liquid to the point where it vaporises. The shape and material of the coil determine how quickly it heats, how evenly it heats, and how much flavour and vapour it produces.

Older pod kits used round-wire coils, which are a thin length of resistance wire wound into a spiral. These work but have a small contact surface with the cotton, so the heat is concentrated in a few places. Mesh coils replace the spiral with a flat sheet of fine metal mesh formed into a cylinder. The extra surface area spreads the heat over more of the wick, which gives faster ramp-up, more even vaporisation, and usually a longer period of good flavour before the coil degrades. That is why almost every current mid-power pod kit uses mesh.

Coil resistance, measured in ohms, tells you what wattage range suits it. As a rough guide for pod systems:

  • Around 0.6 to 1.0 ohm: the usual window for tight to medium draws at 15 to 30W. This suits nicotine salts and mouth-to-lung vaping
  • Around 0.3 to 0.5 ohm: a looser, warmer vape that suits higher wattages, closer to the 40W end
  • Below 0.3 ohm: sub-ohm coils for direct-lung vaping, which are rarely found in small pods

Because resistance varies between coil types, always check the ohm rating and the recommended wattage range printed on the coil or the pod. Running a coil well above its recommended range makes it taste burnt and reduces its lifespan, and running it far below makes the vape feel weak and can cause gurgling or spitting. If your kit allows power adjustment, aim for the middle of the stated window and move from there.

Coil lifespan is the question most buyers ask. Typical life is one to three weeks for a daily user, depending on liquid, power and habits. Sweet and thick liquids shorten that, while thinner, lightly sweetened liquids extend it. Signs that a coil is ending its life include a burnt or flat taste even with a fresh fill, a muted flavour, a darkened wick, gurgling and an increase in leakage. Do not try to squeeze a few more days from a coil that tastes burnt; it will not improve, and breathing it in is unpleasant.

One further point on the pod. The 2ml capacity is the maximum allowed on refillable tanks and pods sold in the UK, so you will see the same capacity on every competing kit. On some SMOK pods the coil is integrated into the cartridge, so you replace the whole pod rather than swapping the coil on its own. Check the replacement part listed for this kit so you know which style you are buying.

Nicotine strength guidance for UK vapers

Choosing a nicotine strength is the decision that has the largest effect on whether a new vaper sticks with the switch. The rules in the UK are straightforward: nicotine e-liquid can be sold at a maximum of 20mg/ml (often written as 2%), in bottles of no more than 10ml. That 20mg cap applied to the old single-use devices and applies equally to refill bottles and pre-filled pods, so you will never find a legal product above it. Nicotine-free e-liquid, sold as 0mg, is also available if you want to wean off nicotine altogether.

There are two main types of nicotine in e-liquid. Freebase nicotine is the traditional form and is harsher on the throat at higher strengths, which is why it is usually sold at 3, 6 or 12mg. Nicotine salts are a different formulation that is smoother at higher strengths and delivers nicotine to the bloodstream more quickly, which is why they are sold at 10 and 20mg and are popular with former smokers. Most pod kits are designed with nicotine salts in mind, because the small coil and low power are a good match for them.

As a starting point, many vapers pick a strength from their previous habit:

  • Heavy smokers (around 15 or more cigarettes a day) or people who used 20mg disposables: start with 20mg nicotine salt at a modest wattage. If the throat hit is too sharp, move to 18mg or 15mg, if available, or reduce the power
  • Moderate smokers (around 8 to 15 a day): 10 to 12mg nicotine salt, or around 12mg freebase
  • Light or social smokers: 5 to 6mg salt or 6mg freebase
  • People who have already switched and want to cut down: step down gradually, such as from 20mg to 10mg to 6mg, over weeks rather than days
  • Anyone vaping at the upper end of the wattage range: go lower than you think. Higher power delivers more nicotine per puff, so a 20mg salt at 35W can be very strong

A good test is how you feel after a few puffs. If you feel dizzy, nauseous or light-headed, the strength or power is too high. If you take many puffs and still feel unsatisfied or are craving a cigarette within an hour, the strength may be too low. Adjust by one step at a time, give each setting a day or two, and make notes on how many puffs it takes to feel settled.

It is worth being clear that vaping is not risk-free. It carries a fraction of the risk of smoking tobacco, according to UK public health bodies, and is intended for adult smokers who want to quit or cut down. If you do not smoke, there is no reason to start vaping. Nicotine is addictive, products are for adults only, and anyone who is pregnant, has a heart condition or takes regular medication should speak to a healthcare professional before using nicotine products. The NHS and local stop-smoking services offer free support if you want to combine vaping with a quit plan.

Who the Morph Pod 40 is for, and who should skip it

No device suits everyone, and the honest answer about the Morph Pod 40 depends on what you want from a vape. Here is where it makes sense, and where another option will serve you better.

It is a good fit if you are:

  • An adult smoker moving from disposables. You get a familiar mouth-to-lung style draw with the freedom to choose your own e-liquid and nicotine strength, and the cost per millilitre of liquid is much lower than in a single-use device
  • Looking for more power than a basic pod kit. If a 15 to 20W starter pen feels thin, the 40W ceiling gives you room to turn up the output and get warmer, fuller vapour
  • Interested in flavour variety. A refillable kit lets you try different liquids without buying a new device each time
  • Keen to reduce waste. A reusable device with replaceable pods and coils produces far less electronic waste than a continuing supply of single-use products
  • Comfortable with a bit of routine. Filling a pod, charging a battery and changing a coil are simple jobs, but they are jobs

You might want to skip it if you:

  • Want a device that needs no attention at all. A closed-pod system with pre-filled, replaceable pods needs even less handling, although it locks you into the manufacturer's liquids
  • Want large clouds. At 40W with a restricted pod airflow, this is not a direct-lung cloud device. If big vapour is the priority, look at a sub-ohm kit rated at 60W or more
  • Dislike carrying a bottle of e-liquid. A refillable pod means carrying a spare bottle, which some people find inconvenient. You can fill the pod at home before heading out, but longer days need a top-up
  • Are a non-smoker or under 18. Vaping products are for adult smokers only. It is illegal to sell them to anyone under 18, and there is no benefit to non-smokers
  • Need a very tiny device. If your priority is something as small as a lighter, a compact pen-style kit will fit more discreetly than a 40W pod device

There is also a middle ground. Many people start with a refillable kit like this one, find that they settle on a steady routine, and keep it as their everyday device for a year or more. Others find after a month that they want either something simpler or something stronger, and move on. Because the kit is relatively inexpensive compared with the cumulative cost of disposables, that experiment is not an expensive one.

How to fill, prime and use the Morph Pod 40

Getting started takes about ten minutes, most of which is waiting. The steps below apply to most refillable SMOK pod kits. If your manual says anything different for this model, follow the manual.

  • Charge first. Plug the device in with the supplied cable and give it a full charge before first use, which also gives you time to read the manual
  • Remove the pod. Pull the pod gently out of the device and find the fill port, which is covered by a rubber or silicone plug
  • Open the fill port. Peel back or lift the plug. Do not remove it completely if it is attached, and keep it clean
  • Fill the pod. Tilt the pod slightly and drip e-liquid into the fill port, aiming for the side wall rather than straight down. Stop at the maximum fill line, or just below it if there is no line. Overfilling forces liquid into the airflow channel and causes leaks
  • Close the port. Press the plug back firmly until it is flush with the pod
  • Wait. Leave the filled pod standing upright for five to ten minutes so the cotton wick can saturate fully. This is the step people skip, and it is the usual cause of a burnt first hit
  • Insert the pod. Push it into the device until it seats
  • Switch on. Most SMOK pod kits switch on and off with five quick clicks of the button, but check the manual for this model
  • Take gentle first puffs. Take two or three slow draws, without rushing, to pull liquid into the coil, and then start vaping normally

Technique makes a visible difference. For a mouth-to-lung style, draw slowly for around three to four seconds, hold the vapour in your mouth for a beat, and then inhale if you wish. Rapid, hard pulls tend to create hot vapour, make the coil gurgle and can pull liquid into the airflow channel. If the vape feels harsh, shorter, softer puffs are usually the fix.

Day to day care is minimal but worthwhile. Store the device upright when you can, particularly overnight, so liquid does not pool around the coil. Wipe the pod base and the device contacts with a dry cotton bud once a week to remove sticky residue and keep the connection reliable. Do not let a pod sit nearly empty while firing, because dry hits wreck coils quickly. Top up the pod when it is a quarter full rather than letting it run completely dry. If the device has a lock mode, switch it on whenever it is in a bag or pocket.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with a pod kit have a simple cause. Work through these before concluding that the device is faulty, and keep your order details to hand in case you do need to get in touch.

  • The device will not fire: check that it is switched on, that it has charge and that the pod is fully seated. Remove the pod, wipe the contacts and reinsert it. If you have just filled a new pod, make sure you did not leave the fill plug open or loose
  • The indicator light flashes and nothing happens: flashing patterns usually signal a short circuit, a low battery or a missing pod. Because the patterns differ between models, check the manual for the meaning on this kit. A common fix is cleaning the contacts and trying a fresh pod
  • Burnt or acrid taste: the coil may be dry or worn. Make sure the pod has enough liquid and that you waited before the first use. If the taste persists with a full pod, replace the coil or pod. Lower the wattage as well, since running too hot is a frequent cause
  • Weak or muted flavour: this usually means the coil is clogged with residue, particularly after sweet or dessert liquids. Try a fresh coil. Also check that the liquid is not too thick for the pod, as slow wicking dulls flavour
  • Leaking from the bottom or airflow holes: the pod may be overfilled, the fill plug may not be seated or the seals may be damaged. Wipe the pod dry, reseat the plug and fill to a lower level next time. If leaking continues with a fresh pod, contact the shop
  • Gurgling or spitting: condensation or flooding in the airflow. Take a couple of dry puffs without firing, or blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear it. Avoid very hard draws
  • Battery will not charge: try a different cable and wall plug, and check the charging port for dust or pocket lint. A blocked port can be cleaned carefully with a wooden toothpick. Never force the cable in
  • Device gets hot: unplug it immediately and let it cool. Do not use it if it remains hot while idle, swells, smells of burning or shows damage
  • Pod is not recognised: remove it, check the pod for residue on the contacts, clean with a dry cotton bud and try again. If a second pod works, the first may be at fault

If none of this resolves the problem, the unit may be defective. Note the symptom, take a photo or short video showing it, and contact the shop with your order number. Faulty goods are covered by UK consumer law, and sorting out a genuine fault is a lot faster when you can show exactly what happens.

A final word on safety. If a coil or pod is leaking heavily, wipe the device clean before charging it. Never charge a device with e-liquid inside the charging port, because liquid in the port can short the connector. Keep e-liquid and spare pods out of reach of children and pets; nicotine is toxic if swallowed or spilled on skin in quantity.

Value for money and how it compares with alternatives

Value in a refillable kit comes from two numbers: what you pay upfront, and what each month of vaping costs afterwards. The upfront price of the Morph Pod 40 is higher than the price of a single disposable, but the running costs are lower. A 10ml bottle of e-liquid fills a 2ml pod five times, so one bottle gives roughly the same amount of liquid as five single-use devices. The recurring costs are then the e-liquid itself, the occasional replacement coil or pod, and a small amount of electricity. For most daily vapers, a kit pays for itself within a few weeks. Note that the UK introduced a duty on vaping products from 1 October 2026, which adds to the shelf price of e-liquid, but refillable liquid still works out considerably cheaper per millilitre than pre-filled single-use pods did.

The coil is the main wear item. If you replace a coil or pod every one to three weeks, buy them in multipacks, where the price per unit is usually lower, and avoid sweet liquids that shorten coil life. Combined with a bottle of e-liquid every week or two for a regular user, you can work out your own monthly cost fairly accurately after the first month.

It also helps to see where the kit sits among its rivals. These are honest comparisons based on the general market, so check the specifications of the current versions before buying:

  • Vaporesso XROS series: a popular range of compact pod kits, typically with a battery of around 1,000mAh and a lower power ceiling of about 25W. They are slimmer and simpler. If you want a small, easy kit and do not need more than moderate power, an XROS is a sensible alternative; the Morph Pod 40 gives you more power headroom
  • OXVA Xlim series: well regarded for build quality and flavour, with models such as the Xlim SQ Pro at about 30W and around 1,200mAh. It is closer to the Morph Pod 40 in capability, so the choice may come down to price, appearance and coil availability
  • Uwell Caliburn series: long-established and widely stocked, with models around 25W and 900mAh. Reliable and simple, with a lower ceiling than the Morph Pod 40
  • SMOK Novo series: SMOK's own slimmer pod range, at lower power. It suits those who want a pocketable, light-use kit
  • SMOK Nord series: SMOK's higher-power pod kits, which run to much greater wattage with larger batteries. If you know you want large vapour, a Nord is a better fit than the Morph Pod 40, although it is bulkier

None of these is ahead in every respect. They trade size, power, price and availability against one another. The Morph Pod 40 makes sense if you want a middle position: more output than the basic pods, without the size and cost of a high-power kit. It makes less sense if you only vape lightly, in which case a cheaper and smaller kit will do the same job.

For the cost-conscious, a practical approach is to calculate your own break-even. Add up what you currently spend per week on vaping, work out the weekly cost of e-liquid and coils with this kit, and divide the kit price by the difference. If the answer is a few weeks, the value case is straightforward.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I choose for the SMOK Morph Pod 40?

In the UK the maximum is 20mg/ml. Heavier smokers and people coming from 20mg disposables often start at 20mg nicotine salt at a modest wattage, moderate smokers choose 10 to 12mg, and light users go for 5 to 6mg. Higher wattage delivers more nicotine per puff, so go lower than you think if you plan to vape near the 40W ceiling.

How do I charge it and how long does it take?

Charge it with the supplied USB cable from a standard 5V adapter or a computer port. A full charge usually takes around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the adapter. Do not leave it charging unattended overnight, and stop using it if it gets hot or swells.

Does the kit come with e-liquid, and do the ten variants change the flavour?

No, the kit ships without e-liquid, so you need to buy your own in a bottle of up to 10ml. The ten variants on the listing are normally different colours or finishes of the same hardware, not flavours. Choose the look you like, then pick e-liquid separately in any flavour you want.

How long does a pod and a coil last?

A 2ml fill typically lasts a few hundred puffs, roughly 300 to 500 at moderate power, and a battery charge usually covers one to two pods. A coil generally lasts one to three weeks for a daily user, and less if you vape sweet or dessert liquids at high wattage. Replace it when the taste turns burnt or flat.

Is it good value compared with disposable vapes?

Yes for most regular users, because one 10ml bottle fills a 2ml pod five times and the device is reused. Single-use vapes have also been banned from sale in Great Britain since 1 June 2025, so a refillable kit is the practical alternative. The upfront cost is higher, but it usually pays back within a few weeks of regular vaping.

Who should buy this kit, and who should avoid it?

It suits adult smokers and vapers who want more power than a basic pod kit, a choice of e-liquid and a reusable device. Skip it if you want a zero-maintenance device, large direct-lung clouds, or if you are under 18 or have never smoked. Vaping is for adults who smoke and want an alternative, not for non-smokers.

Can I switch between flavours?

Yes, but sweet and creamy liquids can leave residue and flavours like menthol can linger. For the cleanest swap, run the pod low, rinse it with warm water, dry it fully and refill. If you change flavour often, keep a dedicated spare pod for each flavour family.

Do you deliver across the UK, and is there an age check?

We deliver to addresses across the UK, with delivery options and costs shown at checkout. Vaping products can only be sold to people aged 18 or over, so you may be asked to confirm your age when ordering or on delivery. Please check the checkout page for the latest delivery times.

What if my kit arrives faulty or stops working?

Contact us with your order number and a photo or short video of the problem, and we will help you work out whether it is a fault. Faulty goods are covered by UK consumer law, and we also follow the manufacturer's warranty process where it applies. Check the warranty details in your box and on the product page for the specific terms.

How do I recycle the kit when it reaches the end of its life?

Do not put it in the household bin or kerbside recycling, because the lithium battery can cause fires. Take it to a battery drop-off point, a household waste recycling centre or a retailer that accepts small electricals and used vapes. Removing the used pod and e-liquid first is good practice.
