Caliypso Yellow Wave 100ml Shortfill at a Glance

Caliypso 100ml Shortfill E-Liquid Yellow Wave is a bottle of nicotine-free vape liquid, listed at £7.99 in a single 0mg strength. It is a liquid rather than a device, which means it does nothing until an adult pours it into a refillable tank or a refillable pod. If you came here hoping for something ready to use straight from the box, you are looking for a different part of the shop, such as our disposable vapes.

The bottle belongs to the Wave family within the Caliypso range, alongside colour-named siblings such as Blue Wave, Green Wave and Orange Wave. Yellow Wave is the one this page covers. Our product listing gives us a short list of confirmed facts: the brand, the 100ml shortfill format, the 0mg strength, the flavour tag Yellow Wave and the price. Anything beyond that, we flag as something to check on the printed label instead of guessing.

This guide is written to be read before you buy, not as a sales pitch. We cover how a shortfill works, what we can honestly say about the flavour, which hardware suits it, how to add nicotine shots if you want them, how to work out a strength, how to store the bottle, and how delivery and age checks work on our side. For adults who already know the format, the short version is simple: shake it, fill your tank, and vape it at 0mg or top it up with shots to a strength you have calculated yourself.

It is also worth saying plainly who this is for. Vaping products are strictly for adults aged 18 and over, and a nicotine-free liquid is no exception to that rule in our shop. If you do not already smoke or vape, there is no reason to start with this bottle or any other. If you are an adult who already uses refillable kit and likes a large bottle that usually costs less per millilitre than the small ones, read on.

How a 100ml Shortfill Bottle Actually Works

Shortfill is a British workaround to a sensible rule. Under UK regulation, liquid that contains nicotine may only be sold in bottles of 10ml or smaller. Liquid with no nicotine in it is not covered by that size limit, so it can be sold in much larger containers. A shortfill takes advantage of that: it is a big bottle of nicotine-free liquid, deliberately left short of full.

The empty space has a purpose. An adult who wants nicotine can buy separate 10ml nicotine shots, squeeze them into the headroom, close the cap and shake. The result is a full bottle of liquid at a strength the buyer has chosen, sold lawfully in two separate parts. If you do not want nicotine, you never add a shot, and the bottle stays at 0mg.

That is exactly the position with Yellow Wave. The listing shows one strength only, 0mg, so there is no nicotine in the bottle as it arrives. We do not sell it as a nicotine product, and you cannot pick another strength from the product page. If you want nicotine, you add it yourself using shots bought separately, and you take responsibility for the arithmetic, which we walk through later in this guide.

A few practical consequences follow from the format. The bottle is bigger than a standard 10ml dropper, so it usually has a slim nozzle designed to fit the filling port of a small tank. Shortfills are also generally aimed at tanks and pods with a looser draw, so the liquid is often thicker than a nic salt. Not every shortfill follows that pattern, though, and our listing does not state the VG to PG ratio for this bottle, so check the label if it matters to you.

Finally, shortfill is not the same thing as a pre-filled pod, a disposable or a nic salt. Those are different formats with different hardware. If you are still deciding between them, the shortfill e-liquids collection shows the full spread of 100ml and 50ml bottles side by side.

Reading the Yellow Wave Name Without Guessing

Colour names are a poor guide to what is actually in a bottle. Yellow could point towards lemon, banana, pineapple, mango, a custard note or a mixed tropical blend, and the word Wave says nothing on its own about sweetness or cooling. Our listing tags the flavour as Yellow Wave and offers no further description, so we are not going to pretend we know the exact recipe.

What we can offer is a way of thinking about it. Shortfills in a colour-coded fruit range tend to fall into three broad styles: a juicy, sweet fruit profile; a fruit profile with a cooling finish; and a sharper, tangier profile. The Caliypso range separates the cooling bottles in its naming, since there is a separate product called Cold Wave, so the plain colour names probably do not promise a menthol finish. That is an inference, not a claim. If a cooling note matters to you, read the label and any brand description before buying.

Your own set-up changes how any flavour lands. Power and airflow come first. A hotter, airier draw softens delicate notes and pushes sweetness forward, while a cooler, tighter draw keeps the edges crisp. A fresh coil, properly primed, shows far more flavour than a tired one. The balance of VG and PG matters too: higher-VG liquids feel smoother and thicker, while PG-heavy liquids feel lighter and deliver flavour a little more sharply.

Our advice for a flavour with no tasting notes is straightforward. Buy one bottle before committing to several. At £7.99, finding out whether Yellow Wave suits you costs less than a round of drinks, and because the bottle is large you will have plenty of time to decide. If you already enjoy other colours in the family you have a better starting point than a stranger to the range, but even then the only proper test is a tank of it in your own kit.

We would rather tell you we do not know the exact taste than invent a description. If the manufacturer states the flavour on the packaging, trust that over any guess, including ours.

Where Yellow Wave Sits in the Caliypso Range

Browse the Caliypso brand collection and a pattern shows up quickly. The range is built around named lines, each sold as a 100ml shortfill, with a colour or fruit word used to tell the flavours apart. Wave is one line. Surf and Ocean Lemonade are others, and the catalogue also includes bottles named Original Lemonade, Pineapple Lemonade, Lemon and Lime Lemonade and Dark Cherry Lemonade.

Within the Wave line, our catalogue lists Black Wave, Blue Wave, Cold Wave, Green Wave and Orange Wave alongside Yellow Wave. That gives a useful way to shop. If you try one Wave bottle and like it, the others are a natural next step, because the line shares a name and presumably a house style. If you try one and find it too sweet or too sharp, the neighbouring colours give you somewhere to go without leaving the brand.

A word on mixing. It is tempting to pour two flavours into one tank to make something new. Plenty of experienced vapers do exactly that, and there is nothing wrong with it, but results are unpredictable and the cost of a failed experiment is a full tank of liquid you do not enjoy. If you want to try it, start with a small amount in a clean tank rather than combining two full bottles. Never mix liquids inside the original bottle if you plan to go back to the single flavour later.

It is also worth knowing that each bottle in the range has its own page, its own price and its own stock status. Do not assume that because one flavour is available at a certain price, the others are identical. Check each listing, and treat a quick look at the full brand page as the cheapest way to compare. The same advice applies if you want to compare Caliypso against other brands in the wider e-liquids range, where shortfills sit next to nic salts, 10ml bottles and multibuy offers.

Who Yellow Wave Suits and Who Should Skip It

Not every vaper needs a 100ml bottle. This one makes sense for a fairly specific group of adults, and it is better to know whether you are in it before you order.

It suits you if you already own a refillable tank or a refillable pod system and you are comfortable filling it yourself. It suits you if you vape at 0mg, or if you are happy to buy shots separately and work out your own strength. It suits you if you go through liquid quickly and the small bottles on the shelf feel expensive by comparison. And it suits you if you like to experiment, because a large bottle at a modest price lets you try a flavour properly rather than sampling it once and moving on.

It is a poor fit in several cases. If your device is a closed-pod system that takes only sealed cartridges, a shortfill cannot go in it at all, and you would be better looking at a pre-filled option. If you want nicotine without any mixing, a ready-strength liquid in a 10ml bottle is more convenient. If you have never vaped before, a shortfill asks you to understand headroom, shots and strengths before you have even tasted anything, which is a lot of homework for a first purchase. A disposable, sold in our disposable range, is simpler to start with if you are an adult smoker looking for an alternative to cigarettes.

It is also not suitable for anyone under 18, and we would add that it is not meant for non-smokers. A nicotine-free liquid is not a toy or a snack, and it is sold to adults who already use vaping hardware.

One further point is easy to miss. Because Yellow Wave ships at 0mg only, a person who wants a strong, throat-hitting experience will need to add several shots, and the more shots you add, the more diluted the flavour becomes. If you know you want a high strength, a nic salt liquid designed for that purpose is usually a better match than a shortfill stretched to its limit.

Specs and Numbers You Can Rely On

Numbers first, because they are the part that cannot be argued with. These are the details taken straight from the Yellow Wave listing on our site:

  • Brand: Caliypso
  • Product: 100ml Shortfill E-Liquid, Yellow Wave
  • Format: shortfill, nicotine-free as supplied
  • Strength: 0mg, one option only
  • Price: £7.99
  • Flavour tag: Yellow Wave

Equally important is what the listing does not tell us. We have no stated VG to PG split, no exact fill volume in millilitres, no ingredient list and no bottle dimensions. These are normally printed on the label, and if any of them affects your decision, read the bottle or contact us before buying through our contact page. We would rather leave a gap than fill it with a number we cannot back up.

The 100ml figure is the name of the product size. In the shortfill market the number usually refers to the volume of liquid, with a larger bottle around it to leave space for shots. If that is the case here, then £7.99 for 100ml works out at about 8p per millilitre. Do that sum yourself against any 10ml bottle you are used to buying, dividing the price by the volume, and the saving is usually obvious. If the label shows a different fill, redo the sum with the real figure.

Because there is only one strength, there is no variant selector to worry about. You add the bottle to your basket and that is it. If you want to see how other zero-nicotine bottles compare on price and size, the nicotine-free e-liquids collection lists them together, and it is a quick way to check whether £7.99 for a large bottle suits your budget.

Finally, remember that a shortfill price covers the liquid only. Nicotine shots, if you want them, are a separate purchase and a separate cost, so factor that into your plan before you call the bottle cheap.

Tanks, Pods and Coils That Suit a Shortfill

A liquid is only as useful as the hardware it goes into. Shortfills are designed with refillable devices in mind, and the main question is whether yours is one of them.

Most people use a shortfill in a tank. These come in two broad styles. Sub-ohm tanks have low-resistance coils and wide airflow, and they pair naturally with thicker, higher-VG liquids because the coil wicks quickly and heats the juice evenly. Mouth-to-lung tanks have a tighter draw and higher-resistance coils, which is closer to the feel of a cigarette, and they usually work better with a thinner liquid. Which suits Yellow Wave depends on the VG to PG ratio on the label, which we cannot state from here.

Refillable pod systems are the second option. Many of them accept a thinner liquid more happily than a very thick one, so check the manufacturer guidance for your device before filling. Our vape kits page covers complete starter systems, and the refillable vape pods page lists the pods that can be topped up from a bottle like this one.

Filling is simple, but there are a few rules worth following. Use the slim nozzle to fill from the side port or the top fill opening, whichever your tank has, and stop before the liquid reaches the central airflow tube. Never overfill. Remember that in the UK, tanks sold as vaping products are capped at 2ml, so a 100ml bottle will fill your tank dozens of times rather than all at once. Leave a new coil to soak for a few minutes before you press the button, because a dry coil burns the cotton and can ruin both the coil and the flavour.

One last tip about mixing hardware and liquid. A flavour that tastes dull in one tank can taste lively in another. If you try Yellow Wave and it feels flat, try a different coil resistance or lower your wattage before blaming the liquid. That is cheaper than throwing the bottle away.

Adding Nicotine Shots: A Step by Step Method

If you decide to add nicotine, do it carefully and in a fixed order. This section is written for adults who already use nicotine and understand the product. It is not an encouragement to start. Yellow Wave is sold at 0mg, and leaving it that way is perfectly fine.

Here is the routine most people follow:

  • Step 1, check the headroom. Read the label to see how many 10ml shots the bottle is designed to take. Do not exceed it. If the bottle has room for two shots and you add three, it will overflow or be too diluted.
  • Step 2, buy matching shots. Nicotine shots are sold separately. Read the strength printed on the shot, because the strength of your final liquid depends on it.
  • Step 3, wash and dry your hands. Nicotine liquid on skin is a nuisance and best avoided. Work over a surface you can wipe clean.
  • Step 4, open the bottle and the shot. Squeeze the shot slowly into the headroom of the shortfill. Do not let it splash.
  • Step 5, close the cap firmly. A loose cap is the main cause of leaks in transit and in a pocket.
  • Step 6, shake well. Shake for a good minute, then let the bottle rest and shake once more. The liquid should look uniform.
  • Step 7, rest the bottle. A few hours is enough for most people, and a day is better, to let the liquids blend fully.
  • Step 8, label it. Write the strength and the date on the bottle or a sticker. Do not trust your memory in a month.

Keep the finished bottle out of reach of children and pets. Once nicotine is in the bottle it is no longer a nicotine-free product, and you should treat it with the same care as any nicotine liquid. If you are unsure about the process, do not guess. Our team will answer questions through the FAQ page before you buy.

Choosing a Nicotine Strength: The Arithmetic

Here is the arithmetic, with nothing hidden. The strength of your finished bottle is the total milligrams of nicotine you add, divided by the total millilitres of liquid in the bottle once the shots are in. In plain terms: shots multiplied by 10ml, multiplied by the shot strength, divided by the final volume.

Take a bottle that holds 100ml of liquid with room for two 10ml shots. Add two shots of 18mg. That is 2 times 10 times 18, which is 360mg of nicotine, in 120ml of finished liquid. The result is 3mg per millilitre. Add only one shot and you get 180mg in 110ml, which is about 1.6mg per millilitre. Add two shots of 10mg instead and you get 200mg in 120ml, or about 1.7mg per millilitre.

If the real fill on the label is lower, say 70ml, the same two 18mg shots give 360mg in 90ml, which is 4mg per millilitre. This is why we keep telling you to read the label. The fill volume changes the answer, and the listing does not state it.

A few general points follow. A lower strength is generally paired with a sub-ohm tank, where the large clouds deliver a lot of vapour per puff, and a higher strength with tighter-draw devices. Nicotine strength is a personal setting, not a ranking, and no figure is right for everyone. If you are new to nicotine, start low rather than high, because it is easier to add more later than to take it out.

Remember also that a nic salt shot behaves differently from a standard freebase shot. It is smoother at the same strength, so people often pick a lower number. If you actually prefer that style, a ready-made liquid from the nicotine salt e-liquids range may be more satisfying than a heavily boosted shortfill. And if you are unsure what strength is appropriate for you, speak to a pharmacist or your GP, not to a vape shop website.

Storing, Shaking and Looking After the Bottle

Once the bottle is open, the clock starts ticking slowly, and a few habits keep the liquid tasting the way it should. None of them is complicated.

Keep the bottle upright, with the cap closed tightly, in a cool, dark place. Heat and sunlight are the two enemies of e-liquid. A bottle left on a sunny windowsill or in a hot car will darken, thin out and lose flavour faster than one kept in a drawer. A cupboard in a room that stays at a steady temperature is ideal. Avoid the fridge too, because very cold liquid thickens and fills slowly.

Check the bottle for a best-before date. It is normally printed on the label or the box, and we cannot quote one from here. Liquids that have been open for a long time, or that smell off, taste harsh or have changed colour dramatically, should be replaced rather than finished out of thrift. Slight darkening over time is common and not alarming, but a sudden change in smell is worth heeding.

Shake the bottle before each refill. Flavour and sweeteners can settle, particularly if the bottle sits for days, and a quick shake brings the liquid back to even. Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue after filling, because residue on the tip collects dust and can drip into your bag.

How long will 100ml last? That depends entirely on how you use it. As a rough illustration only, a person who gets through 3ml a day would take a little over a month to finish the bottle, while someone at 5ml a day would be done in around three weeks. Light users may stretch it to several months, which is where the best-before date starts to matter.

Finally, keep every bottle, finished or not, out of the reach of children and animals. A nicotine-free liquid is still not a drink, and once you have added a shot it needs to be treated with extra care.

Pros, Cons and Troubleshooting for Yellow Wave

No liquid suits everyone, and an honest buying guide should say so. Here is a balanced view of what Yellow Wave offers and where it falls short.

What works in its favour:

  • A large 100ml format, which usually costs less per millilitre than small bottles.
  • Sold at 0mg, so there is no nicotine unless you decide to add it.
  • One simple option, with no strength selector to confuse the order.
  • Part of a recognisable range, so related flavours are easy to find.

What counts against it:

  • No flavour description in our listing, so the first bottle is a small leap of faith.
  • Needs a refillable tank or pod, and will not work in a disposable or closed-pod kit.
  • Nicotine users must buy shots separately and do the sums.
  • VG to PG ratio and exact fill are not stated, so you need the label.

Most problems with any shortfill come down to the same few causes. If you taste burnt cotton, the coil is probably old or running dry, so replace it and prime the new one. If the tank gurgles, you may have overfilled it and flooded the airflow, so tip it out and let it dry. If the tank leaks, check the seals and the cap, and avoid storing it on its side. If the flavour seems muted, try a fresh coil or lower your power, and consider that your taste buds may be tired after several hours of the same flavour.

Thicker liquids need more patience when priming. Let the coil soak, take a few gentle puffs without firing the button, then start at a low power and work up. A fresh replacement coil is the single cheapest fix for most flavour complaints, and it is worth keeping a spare in a drawer.

Delivery, Age Checks and Buying With Confidence

Buying online from an adult-only shop comes with a few checkpoints, and it helps to know what to expect. This is the short summary. The full details live on the pages linked below.

Vaping products are for adults aged 18 and over. We check age at the point of sale and the courier may do so at the door, so be ready to prove your age if asked. Our age verification page explains how this works. A 0mg liquid is still a vaping product and is covered by the same rules.

Delivery is free in the UK on orders over £20. Orders placed before our 4pm cut-off are normally dispatched the same day, as long as the item is in stock and the order has cleared its checks. The arithmetic matters here. One bottle at £7.99 is under the free delivery threshold, two bottles come to £15.98, still under, and three come to £23.97, which clears it. If you are planning to try more than one flavour, ordering three together is usually cheaper than ordering them one at a time. Our shipping page has the up-to-date rates, timings and any exclusions.

Check the bottle when it arrives. Make sure the seal is intact, the label is readable and the cap is tight. Check the flavour matches your order, since a mistaken bottle is easier to sort out the day it arrives. If anything looks wrong, such as a leak, a damaged box or the wrong flavour, get in touch through the contact page with your order number and a photo, and we will help. General questions on payment, tracking and returns are answered in the shop FAQ.

Finally, if you are unsure whether Yellow Wave is the right choice, ask first. A quick question to our team costs nothing, and it is better than ordering the wrong format and discovering it only when the parcel is open.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Best value per ml in the category
  • Choose your own device and coil
  • Available in a wide strength ladder

Cons

  • Refilling can leak if you overfill
  • Coil priming has a small learning curve
  • You handle the bottle — less discreet than pods

Customer Buying Tips

  • Match the strength to how much you smoked: 20+/day → 10-20 mg nic salt; 10/day → 10 mg; under 5/day → 3-6 mg freebase.
  • Match the ratio to your device: pod kits take 50/50, sub-ohm tanks take 70/30 shortfill.
  • Don't overfill: leaving the airhole clear prevents gurgling and leaking.
  • Shake before use so the nicotine and flavour integrate evenly.

Frequently asked questions

Does Caliypso Yellow Wave contain nicotine?

No. The listing shows a single 0mg strength, so the bottle contains no nicotine as supplied. It is a shortfill, which means there is spare room in the bottle for adults who choose to add separate nicotine shots. If you never add a shot, the liquid stays nicotine-free. If you do add shots, the bottle becomes a nicotine product and needs to be handled and stored accordingly, away from children and pets.

Why is a 100ml bottle not full to the top?

The headroom is deliberate. In the UK, liquid containing nicotine can only be sold in bottles of 10ml or less, but nicotine-free liquid can be sold in larger bottles. A shortfill is a big bottle of 0mg liquid with space left over, so an adult can add one or two 10ml shots and shake. If you do not add shots, the empty space is simply there. Check the label for the exact fill.

What does Yellow Wave taste like?

Our listing only gives the flavour tag Yellow Wave, with no tasting notes, so we cannot honestly describe the taste. Yellow could suggest a citrus, banana or tropical style, but that is a guess, not a fact. The manufacturer's description on the bottle or box is the best source. If you are unsure, buy one bottle first and judge it in your own tank before ordering more.

How many nicotine shots can I add?

That depends on the bottle, so read the label. Most 100ml shortfills are designed to take either one or two 10ml shots, but our listing does not state the headroom for this product. Never add more shots than the label allows, because the bottle may overflow or the flavour may thin out. If you are unsure, contact us before you buy and we will point you to the right information.

What strength will I get if I add two 18mg shots?

If the bottle holds 100ml of liquid and you add two 10ml shots of 18mg, you get 360mg of nicotine in 120ml, which is 3mg per millilitre. If the actual fill is lower, say 70ml, the same shots give 4mg per millilitre. The formula is shots times 10, times the shot strength, divided by the final volume. Always check the fill on the label first.

What is the VG to PG ratio of Yellow Wave?

Our listing does not state it, so we will not guess. The ratio affects how thick the liquid is, how well it suits different tanks and how the flavour comes across. It is normally printed on the label or the carton. If it is important for your device, check it before you fill, or contact us and we will see what information we can find for you.

Can I use it in a disposable or a closed-pod kit?

No. A shortfill is a bottle of liquid and only works in a refillable device, such as a tank or a refillable pod system. Disposables and closed-pod kits take sealed, pre-filled cartridges or have the liquid built in, and cannot be refilled from a bottle. If you want a ready-to-use option, look at our disposable vapes or pre-filled pods instead.

How long will a 100ml bottle last?

It depends on how much you vape. As a rough illustration, someone using 3ml a day would take just over a month to finish the bottle, and someone using 5ml a day would take about three weeks. Light users may take several months, in which case it is worth checking the best-before date on the label and keeping the bottle somewhere cool and dark.

Do I need to prove my age to buy a 0mg liquid?

Yes. Vaping products, including nicotine-free liquids, are for adults aged 18 and over. We check age as part of the order process, and the courier may ask for proof at the door. Our age verification page explains how this works. If you are under 18, please do not order, and if you are not an existing smoker or vaper, there is no need to start.

How much does delivery cost, and how quickly will it ship?

Delivery in the UK is free on orders over £20. One bottle at £7.99 falls under that threshold, but three bottles come to £23.97 and qualify. Orders placed before the 4pm cut-off are normally dispatched the same day when the items are in stock. For current rates, timings and exclusions, see the shipping page, and contact us if you have a specific query about your order.
