Voopoo Argus GT II Vape Kit: what you are actually buying

The Voopoo Argus GT II Vape Kit is a dual-battery pod mod kit built around Voopoo's PnP coil system. It sits in the gap between a slim, low-power pod kit and a full box mod with a separate sub-ohm tank. You get a body that takes two 18650 cells, a chipset with adjustable wattage, a front screen for settings, and a refillable pod that accepts replaceable mesh coils. The headline figure is a maximum output of 200W, a number that used to belong to enthusiast hardware aimed at big-cloud vapers.

This page is written for UK buyers deciding whether the Argus GT II fits how they really vape. We cover what the kit does well, where it asks more of you than a disposable or a closed pod system, and what you need to buy alongside it. The short version is that it is a rechargeable, refillable device for someone who wants control over wattage, coil choice and e-liquid, and who is comfortable handling loose lithium-ion cells.

Because this is a kit rather than a disposable, the numbers that matter are different. There is no puff count printed on the box. Instead you think in terms of coil life, battery runtime and how many millilitres of e-liquid you get through in a day. We explain each of those in the sections below, using realistic ranges rather than marketing maxima.

What you can normally expect to find in the box (contents can vary slightly by retailer, so check the listing):

  • The Argus GT II device itself
  • A refillable pod with at least one PnP-series mesh coil
  • A USB-C charging cable
  • A user manual and warranty card

What is not included: the two 18650 batteries, any e-liquid, and a separate battery charger. Those are three separate purchases, and the batteries in particular should come from a reputable UK seller rather than an anonymous marketplace listing.

In our catalogue the Argus GT II is listed in six variants. For a kit, that means colour and finish rather than flavour. Check the colour selector on the product page for what is currently in stock, because the choice changes the look of the device and nothing else.

Performance and power delivery

A maximum output of 200W is the number everyone notices first, so it is worth being straight about what it means. The chipset in the Argus GT II can deliver up to 200W when two healthy 18650 cells are fitted. That is a ceiling for the electronics, not a recommended operating point for the pod and coils that ship with it. PnP-series mesh coils are designed to run in a far lower band, and each coil states its own recommended wattage range on the packaging or on the coil body. Pushing a coil well past that range does not give you better vapour. It gives you a burnt taste and a coil that dies early.

In practice, most people will sit somewhere between the low twenties and around 60W, depending on the coil fitted. At the lower end you get a tighter, cooler draw that suits former smokers and people stepping up from a small pod kit. At the upper end you get a warmer, denser, more open draw that is closer to what a sub-ohm tank delivers. The wide wattage range is useful because you can choose a coil, then fine-tune the output to match your preferred temperature and throat feel.

The chipset reacts quickly when you press the fire button, which matters more than raw wattage for day-to-day satisfaction. A device that ramps slowly makes the first second of every draw feel flat. A device that reaches target power almost immediately feels consistent from the first puff to the last. The Argus GT II sits in the second camp, and most owners notice the difference when they move across from a basic pod kit.

You will usually find these control and protection features, although you should confirm the exact menu layout in the manual that comes with your unit:

  • A manual wattage mode where you set the output yourself
  • An automatic or smart style mode that picks a sensible output for the coil it detects
  • Short-circuit, low-resistance and over-temperature protection
  • A timeout that cuts the output if the button is held too long
  • Battery level and wattage shown on the screen at all times

Airflow can be adjusted so that you can move between a tighter mouth-to-lung style draw and a looser one. Closing the airflow down at lower wattage gives more flavour concentration and a stronger throat hit. Opening it up at higher wattage gives cooler, airier vapour.

Pod, coils and mesh technology

The Argus GT II uses Voopoo's PnP coil format, a push-in system where the coil sits in the base of the pod and is replaced as a single unit. There is no wicking, no cotton, and no wire to wrap. When the flavour fades, you pull the old coil, push in a fresh one, and carry on. That convenience is the main reason this style of kit has become popular with people who do not want a hobby.

PnP-series coils are built around mesh rather than a single round wire. A mesh coil spreads the heating surface across a flat screen, which does three useful things. It heats e-liquid more evenly, so you get a smoother draw. It exposes more surface area to the wick, so flavour comes through with less effort. And it recovers quickly between puffs, which helps when you chain several draws together.

Voopoo sells several coil resistances in this format. Exactly which one is bundled in your box depends on the batch, so read the label. As a general guide to how they behave:

  • Higher resistance mesh coils (around 0.3 ohm): lower wattage, tighter draw, better battery life, and a feel closer to a conventional pod kit. They suit nicotine salt liquids.
  • Mid-range mesh coils (around 0.2 ohm): a balance of vapour and flavour at moderate wattage, suitable for both nic salt and low-strength freebase liquids.
  • Low-resistance mesh coils (around 0.15 ohm and below): higher wattage, warmer and denser vapour, faster liquid consumption, and shorter coil life. They suit lower-strength freebase and shortfill liquids.

Pod capacity is limited by UK law. Refillable tanks sold in the UK cannot hold more than 2ml, and the same pod design is often sold in larger sizes in other countries. That 2ml limit means you will refill more often than someone using an overseas-spec device, especially at higher wattage. It is a small inconvenience, and it also means you rarely have a large volume of liquid sitting in the pod if you want to change flavour.

Coil life depends on wattage, liquid and habits. Sweet, syrupy liquids and high wattage shorten it, because sugars and sweeteners caramelise on the mesh. Expect roughly one to three weeks from a coil for a daily vaper using ordinary fruit or menthol liquids, and less if you vape sweet dessert flavours at the top of the coil's range. Always prime a new coil (see the setup section) because dry-firing a fresh coil ruins it quickly.

Flavour delivery and choosing e-liquid

Strictly speaking, a kit has no flavour of its own. The taste you get depends on the e-liquid you put in the pod. What the Argus GT II contributes is the quality of the delivery, and mesh coils are generally good at carrying flavour clearly, particularly at the lower and middle ends of the wattage range. Because the pod is small and the coil is replaceable, it is also easy to switch flavours without carrying a lot of leftover liquid in a large tank.

If you are not sure where to start, these flavour families tend to work well in a mesh pod system:

  • Strawberry ice and other berry-and-ice blends: clear on mesh, with a cool finish that holds up at moderate wattage.
  • Blue raspberry and blueberry: sweet and sharp, popular with people who move from disposables.
  • Mango and peach: rounder, fuller flavours that come through well on a slightly warmer setting.
  • Watermelon and other melon blends: light and refreshing, easy on the coil.
  • Menthol and mint: crisp and clean. Mint liquids are kind to coils and tend to last longer than dessert profiles.
  • Cola, lemonade and other soft drink flavours: carbonated-style profiles that suit airy draws.
  • Tobacco and tobacco-blend flavours: suited to lower wattage, where they stay smooth rather than harsh.
  • Vanilla custard and bakery styles: rich and filling, but harder on coils because of the sweeteners, so keep wattage conservative.

VG and PG ratio matters. A 50/50 blend gives a stronger throat hit and works well on lower-wattage coils, since the thinner liquid wicks easily. A 70/30 VG/PG blend gives thicker, smoother vapour and suits the lower-resistance coils at higher wattage. If you use a very thick high-VG liquid in a high-resistance coil at low power, the coil can struggle to wick quickly enough, which leads to dry or burnt hits.

Flavour fatigue is common when you vape a single sweet liquid all day. Because refilling the pod is simple, you can rotate between two or three bottles. A menthol and a fruit liquid, for example, give you a change without any equipment swap. Rinse the pod with warm water and let it dry fully before changing to a very different flavour, otherwise some taste carries over from the previous liquid.

Design and build quality

The Argus GT II has a rounded rectangular body with an alloy frame, a front screen, a fire button on the side and adjustment buttons nearby. It is a two-cell device, so it is wider and heavier than a single-battery pod kit. That is the price of the extra runtime, and some people will find it too bulky for a trouser pocket. A coat pocket or bag is more comfortable. If you are used to a slim stick, the weight and size are noticeable when you first pick it up.

The body is coated rather than bare metal, and a coated finish is a mixed blessing. It grips well and resists fingerprints better than a polished surface. Over months of use in a pocket with keys, however, edges and corners can show wear, so a silicone sleeve or a case is a cheap way to protect the finish. The six colour variants all share the same construction. If you are choosing for looks, pick the one you like. If you want to hide wear, darker finishes tend to show scuffs less obviously than light ones.

Build points worth noting:

  • Battery door: the compartment is accessed through a door that should close with a firm, positive click. If it feels loose, do not use the device until it seats properly.
  • Pod fit: the pod seats in the top of the device and is held in place firmly. You should feel it click into position.
  • Screen: clear enough to read indoors and in daylight, with wattage and battery level easy to see at a glance.
  • Buttons: responsive and easy to find by feel, which helps when adjusting settings without looking.
  • USB-C port: sits at the base and works with common cables, so you are not tied to a proprietary lead.

Like most vaping hardware, it is built to be used carefully rather than abused. It is not rated as waterproof or drop-proof, so keep it away from rain and avoid leaving it on a car dashboard in summer, where heat can damage batteries and cause e-liquid to expand and leak. If you drop it onto a hard floor, check the batteries and the pod before using it again.

Leaks happen on any refillable pod now and then. They are usually down to overfilling, a damaged seal, or a coil that has been in use too long. Keep the pod below the fill line and the device upright when you can.

Battery, 18650 cells and charging

The Argus GT II runs on two removable 18650 lithium-ion batteries, which are not supplied with the kit. This matters for both cost and safety, so read this section before you buy.

Choose cells from a recognised brand, bought from a UK vape shop or a reputable electronics supplier. Look for a continuous discharge rating of at least 20A, and a capacity typically in the 2,500mAh to 3,000mAh range. Do not buy unbranded cells with inflated capacity claims, because a genuine 18650 cannot offer much above 3,500mAh and listings that claim more are not honest. Use two cells of the same brand, same model and same age, and always fit them as a matched pair. Never mix an old cell with a new one, and never mix brands.

Runtime depends on wattage and your habits, but as a rough guide, a pair of healthy 3,000mAh cells at 30 to 40W will typically carry a moderate daily vaper through a full day, and a lighter user may stretch it to two. At higher wattage the runtime drops noticeably, because power use climbs faster than most people expect. If you vape heavily at the upper end of the range, carry a spare matched pair and swap them when the first pair is flat.

Charging options:

  • In-device USB-C charging: convenient, and fine for topping up, but slower and it heats the cells inside the device. Do not leave it charging unattended or overnight.
  • External charger: a dedicated two-bay 18650 charger is a sensible purchase. It charges each cell individually, usually faster and with better monitoring, and it lets you rotate spare pairs.

Basic battery safety applies without exception. Carry spare cells in a plastic case, never loose in a pocket with coins or keys. Stop using any cell with a torn wrap, dents or a swollen shape. Do not charge a battery that has got hot in use until it has cooled. Do not leave charging cells on a bed, sofa or in direct sun.

When batteries reach the end of their life, do not put them in household bin bags. UK retailers that sell batteries are required to take them back, and most supermarkets, DIY stores and household recycling centres have a battery recycling point. Old vaping devices and pods should go to a WEEE drop-off point rather than general waste. Tape the terminals of damaged cells before you take them for recycling.

Nicotine strength guidance for UK vapers

In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml, and bottles of nicotine liquid cannot be larger than 10ml. Tanks and pods are capped at 2ml. Those rules apply to every refillable device sold here, and they shape the e-liquid choices available for the Argus GT II. The 20mg cap applies to disposables as well, but with a kit you control the strength yourself by choosing the bottle.

There are two main types of nicotine liquid, and the right one depends on the coil and wattage you intend to use.

  • Nicotine salts (nic salts): smoother at higher strengths, absorbed quickly, and generally used at 10mg or 20mg. They suit higher-resistance coils at lower wattage, where the draw is tight and restrictive.
  • Freebase nicotine: a harsher throat hit at the same strength, so usually used at lower levels (3mg, 6mg or 12mg). It suits lower-resistance coils at higher wattage, where the larger volume of vapour delivers more nicotine per puff.

A starting point for common situations:

  • Moving from cigarettes, heavy smoker: 20mg nic salt, higher-resistance coil, lower wattage. If 20mg feels too strong, drop to 10mg.
  • Moving from cigarettes, lighter smoker: 10mg nic salt, or 6mg to 12mg freebase at moderate wattage.
  • Moving from disposables: most disposables are 20mg nic salt in the UK, so 10mg to 20mg nic salt is a natural match. Many people find they can come down a step because a refillable device produces more vapour per draw.
  • Vaping at higher wattage with a low-resistance coil: 3mg freebase, either from a pre-mixed 10ml bottle or from a 50ml shortfill with nicotine shots added.

Too much nicotine shows up as lightheadedness, nausea, a hot or scratchy throat and a racing heart. If you feel any of those, stop, drink some water, and choose a lower strength next time. Too little nicotine shows up as constant cravings and chain vaping, which burns through liquid and coils for no benefit.

Remember that wattage changes the nicotine you take in. Raising the power increases vapour volume per puff, so the same bottle effectively feels stronger at 50W than it does at 25W. If you move up in wattage, consider moving down in strength. This product is intended for adults who already smoke or vape, and nicotine is addictive. If you do not currently use nicotine, a vaping kit is not something you need to start.

Who the Argus GT II suits, and who should skip it

No device suits everyone, and a kit with removable cells and replaceable coils asks more of the user than a disposable does. Here is an honest breakdown.

It is likely to suit you if:

  • You have outgrown a small pod kit and want more vapour, more flavour and more adjustability.
  • You are happy to buy and look after 18650 batteries, or you already own some and a charger.
  • You want to choose your own e-liquid and nicotine strength, and save money compared with buying disposables over time.
  • You want a replaceable coil system, with no wire, cotton or building involved.
  • You vape throughout the day and value a device that will last until evening without a mid-afternoon recharge.
  • You like being able to alter wattage and airflow to suit the liquid you are using.

You may want to skip it, or look at something smaller, if:

  • You want something that slides into a tight pocket without being noticed. Two 18650 cells make this a chunky device.
  • You do not want to deal with loose lithium-ion batteries. A kit with a built-in battery avoids this.
  • You want a draw-activated, no-button, no-settings experience. The Argus GT II is not complicated, but it does have a menu and wattage choices.
  • You are buying your first ever vape and are unsure whether you will stick with it. A cheaper, simpler pod kit lowers the commitment.
  • You regularly travel by air and prefer not to carry removable cells. Spare batteries must always go in hand luggage, in a case.
  • You want a cloud-chasing setup. Larger sub-ohm tanks on a mod are better suited to heavy vapour production, and the UK 2ml tank limit means a pod system will never match overseas-spec capacity.

You must be over 18 to buy and use this device. Vaping is not recommended for non-smokers, anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone with a heart or lung condition without medical advice. If you are using a vape to stop smoking, local stop smoking services in the UK can give you free support alongside the device.

How to set up and use the Argus GT II

Setting the kit up the first time takes five or ten minutes. Take it slowly, because most early problems come from rushing the prime or the battery fitting.

  • Step 1, fit the batteries. Open the battery door, and check that both cells are the same brand and charged to a similar level. Insert them with the positive and negative ends facing the way marked inside the compartment. Close the door until it clicks.
  • Step 2, turn the device on. This is normally done with five quick presses of the fire button. The screen lights up. Five presses turns it off again.
  • Step 3, install the coil. If the coil is not already fitted in the pod, push it firmly into the base until it seats. Check the sealing ring is in place.
  • Step 4, fill the pod. Open the fill port on the pod, and fill with e-liquid slowly, aiming the nozzle at the side wall, not directly onto the coil. Stop below the max line. UK pods hold 2ml at most.
  • Step 5, wait and prime. Leave the filled pod standing upright for five to ten minutes so the liquid soaks into the cotton. This is the most skipped step, and the single biggest cause of burnt coils.
  • Step 6, set the wattage. Start at the lower end of the range printed on the coil. Take a few gentle puffs and increase by one or two watts until the draw suits you.
  • Step 7, adjust the airflow. Close it down for a tighter, stronger draw. Open it for a cooler, airier one.

For day-to-day use, press and hold the fire button while you inhale, and release at the end of the draw. A long, slow inhale suits mesh coils. Short, sharp pulls tend to give a thin, hot hit. Take a short break between draws so that the wick has time to refill.

Maintenance is light but worth doing. Wipe the pod contacts and battery contacts with a dry cotton bud now and then. Rinse the pod with warm water when you change flavour, and let it dry completely before refilling. Replace the coil when the taste turns flat, burnt or muted, even if the liquid is fresh. Keep the device out of reach of children and pets, and store e-liquid in its original bottle, upright, away from sunlight.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most issues with this type of kit fall into a short list. Work through the likely cause before you assume the device is faulty.

  • Burnt or harsh taste: usually a coil that was not primed, a coil that has reached the end of its life, or wattage set above the coil's range. Replace the coil, prime properly, and start again at a lower wattage. Sweet liquids are the most frequent cause of a coil burning out quickly.
  • Weak flavour or thin vapour: the wick may be gunked. Replace the coil. Also check the airflow is not too wide, and the wattage is not too low for the resistance.
  • Gurgling or spitting: excess liquid has pooled in the airflow path. Tilt the device, wipe the mouthpiece, and take a couple of dry draws away from your mouth. Overfilling is the common culprit.
  • Leaking from the pod: check the fill port is fully closed, the coil seal is seated, and the liquid level is below the line. Heat and pressure changes, such as hot weather or flying, increase leak risk.
  • Screen shows a short-circuit or no-atomizer message: the coil is not making a clean connection. Remove the pod, clean the contacts with a dry cotton bud, refit, and try again. If it persists with a new coil, try a different pod.
  • Low battery warnings straight after charging: one cell may be weaker than the other. Test each cell in a separate device if you can, and replace the pair if one is clearly failing.
  • Device will not turn on: check the cells are the right way round and the battery door is fully closed. Try freshly charged cells. If the screen stays dark with known-good cells, contact the retailer.
  • Fire button locked: some units lock the button after several presses. Check the manual for the unlock sequence, which is usually a rapid triple press.
  • Device heats up unusually: stop using it immediately, remove the batteries if it is safe to do so, and let it cool. Do not use it again until you have identified the cause. A damaged cell is not worth the risk.

If you have tried the obvious steps and the device still behaves oddly, contact the shop with your order number and a short description. Photos of the screen message help. Keep the packaging and receipt for as long as you are within your return window.

Value for money and running costs

The Argus GT II costs more up front than a disposable, and more than a basic closed pod kit. The honest way to judge value is to look at what you spend over three to six months rather than on the day you buy.

The initial outlay has four parts: the kit itself, a pair of quality 18650 cells, an optional external charger, and your first bottles of e-liquid. After that, your running costs are e-liquid and replacement coils.

  • E-liquid: a 10ml bottle costs a few pounds, and a 2ml pod at moderate wattage typically lasts a few hours of steady use. A daily user may go through somewhere around 3ml to 6ml a day, which works out to a bottle every two or three days.
  • Coils: sold in multipacks, usually priced at a few pounds per coil. At one coil every one to three weeks, this is a modest ongoing cost.
  • Batteries: a good pair should last for hundreds of charge cycles, so the cost spreads out over a long period if you treat them well.

Compare that with disposables. A typical UK disposable costs a few pounds and lasts a few days for a regular vaper. Someone buying two or three per week is spending noticeably more per month than someone using a refillable kit with bottled liquid. The break-even point comes surprisingly quickly, often within the first couple of months. There is also less waste, as the batteries and the main body are reusable, and only the coils and empty bottles need disposing of.

Where value can slip is in false economy on batteries or coils. Cheap, unbranded cells are not a saving, and they can be unsafe. Third-party coils of uncertain origin can leak or fail early. Stay with Voopoo-branded coils or well-known compatible ones from a trusted seller.

For your first few weeks, we recommend you buy one or two coil packs, a single bottle of liquid in a strength you are confident in, and your preferred cells. Once you know your wattage and flavour preferences, you can buy in bulk, which usually brings the per-bottle price down.

How the Argus GT II compares with other options

The kit is not the only device that sits in this part of the market, and a fair comparison helps you decide. These comparisons are general, and specifications on rival products change by model and revision, so check current listings before you decide.

Versus slim, built-in battery pod kits. Smaller pod systems from brands such as Uwell, Vaporesso and Geekvape are far easier to carry and have no loose batteries to manage. They run at lower power and produce less vapour. If your priority is discretion and simplicity, a slim pod kit is the better pick. If you want adjustable power and a fuller draw, the Argus GT II is the better fit.

Versus the original Voopoo Argus GT. The earlier model established the dual-cell, PnP-coil format. The GT II is the update, so if you find the original at a lower price and its coils are available, it remains a workable device. The newer model is the one to choose if you want the current chipset generation and the latest features, and if you want to be sure of ongoing availability.

Versus Geekvape's Aegis range. Geekvape's Aegis dual-cell devices are known for rugged, water-resistant construction and are a good alternative if you work outdoors or are hard on equipment. Voopoo's coil system is easier to use, with its push-in design, while the Aegis range tends to pair with a wider choice of tanks. If durability matters most to you, look at the Aegis. If ease of use matters more, the Argus GT II is simpler.

Versus Vaporesso's dual-cell mods. Vaporesso makes capable devices in this class with their own coil ecosystems. The comparison comes down to which coil family you prefer and which is easier to buy locally. Coil availability is a practical point, so check what your local shop stocks.

Versus a box mod with a sub-ohm tank. A conventional mod and tank gives you bigger capacity where permitted, a wider choice of coils, and far more power headroom. It also means more parts, more cleaning and more to learn. The Argus GT II gives up some of that flexibility in return for far simpler day-to-day use.

Overall, the Argus GT II makes the most sense for someone who wants a step up from a basic pod kit, with replaceable mesh coils and a decent battery capacity, and who does not want the complexity of a full mod setup.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Voopoo Argus GT II come with batteries?

No. The kit is designed for two removable 18650 lithium-ion batteries, and they are not included in the box. Buy a matched pair from a reputable brand with a continuous discharge rating of at least 20A, and keep them in a plastic case when you carry spares.

What nicotine strength should I use in the Argus GT II?

It depends on the coil and wattage. For a higher-resistance coil at lower power, 10mg to 20mg nic salt is a common choice. For a lower-resistance coil at higher power, 3mg to 6mg freebase is more usual. UK e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml, and it is sensible to start lower if you are unsure.

How do I charge the Argus GT II?

You can charge the batteries inside the device through the USB-C port, or remove them and charge them in an external two-bay charger. The external route is usually quicker and gives better control over each cell. Do not leave batteries charging unattended or overnight.

Can I use different flavours in the same pod?

Yes, because the kit uses your own e-liquid. To avoid mixing tastes, empty the pod, rinse it with warm water, let it dry fully, and then refill. If you move between very different flavours, such as menthol and dessert, changing the coil as well gives the cleanest result.

How long will a coil last?

A typical coil lasts one to three weeks for a daily vaper, depending on wattage and the type of liquid. Sweet dessert liquids and high wattage shorten coil life. When the flavour goes flat or tastes burnt, fit a new coil and prime it before use.

What do the six variants of this kit mean?

The six listings are colour and finish options. The internals, features and performance are the same across them, so choose the one you like the look of. Stock levels vary, so check the product page for what is available right now.

Is the Argus GT II a good choice for a first vape?

It can be, if you are comfortable handling batteries and refilling a pod. If you want the simplest possible start, a smaller pod kit with a built-in battery involves less setup. The Argus GT II is better suited to people who already vape and want more control.

Is the pod really limited to 2ml?

Yes, in the UK. Refillable tanks and pods cannot hold more than 2ml, and nicotine liquid cannot be sold in bottles larger than 10ml. The same pod style is sold in larger sizes in some other countries, but those versions are not for sale here.

How quickly will my order arrive in the UK?

We dispatch to UK addresses and offer standard and, where available, faster delivery options at checkout. Delivery estimates are shown before you pay. All orders require an age check, so you must be 18 or over, and someone may be asked to confirm age on delivery.

What if my kit arrives faulty or stops working?

Good quality all round

Not too strong, not too mild — just right. Good for all day use without being overpowering.
