Smok RPM 100 Vape Kit: what it is and where it fits

The Smok RPM 100 Vape Kit is a refillable pod mod with a maximum output of 100W, built around a single external lithium cell rather than a sealed internal battery. You supply an 18650 or 21700 cell, click a pod with a mesh coil onto the body, fill it with e-liquid and you have a compact system that can run anywhere from a gentle, cigarette-like draw to a warm, dense, sub-ohm style pull. It belongs to the RPM family from Smok, which shares one coil and pod ecosystem across several devices, so replacement parts are easy to find in the UK and the same coils turn up in many different kits.

That combination is the main reason to look at it. Most small pod kits are built for low power and a tight draw. Most box mods are larger, need a separate tank and expect you to understand coil resistance and power settings. The RPM 100 sits between the two. It keeps the click-in pod and the quick refill, but gives you wattage control that reaches into territory usually reserved for bigger hardware. At the time of writing it is listed at £25.99, which is a modest price for a 100W device, although you will need to budget separately for a battery and a charger if you do not already own them.

It is also a practical route for adult vapers following the UK ban on single-use vapes, which came into force on 1 June 2025. A kit like this is designed to be refilled, recharged and repaired, so the same hardware can stay in use for a long time and the things you throw away are limited to coils and, eventually, a worn pod. Nicotine strength is governed by the rules that apply to all UK e-liquid, including the 20mg/ml (2%) maximum and the 10ml limit on nicotine bottles. We cover both in the nicotine section below.

This guide covers the specifications, how the kit performs in daily use, what to expect from flavour, how the battery and charging work, how to choose a nicotine strength, who should buy it and who should skip it, how to set it up, how to fix common faults and how it compares with similar devices. Where a figure is our own estimate rather than a manufacturer claim, we say so.

Specifications at a glance

Listings for this device differ slightly between retailers and between production batches, and a few figures depend on whether a kit was made for the UK market or for export. Treat the list below as a guide and check the quick start card and the pod in your box for the final word.

  • Output range: variable wattage from 5W up to a 100W maximum.
  • Power source: one external 18650 or 21700 lithium-ion cell. There is no built-in battery. The cell is normally sold separately, and a spacer or adapter for the narrower 18650 is commonly included, so check the contents list before you order.
  • Charging: USB-C port on the body, which charges the cell while it is inside the device. An external battery charger is a sensible alternative and is what many experienced vapers prefer.
  • Screen: a small 0.96 inch display showing wattage, battery level and coil information.
  • Coils: RPM 3 mesh coils, normally supplied as a 0.15Ω coil (rated for roughly 40W to 80W) and a 0.23Ω coil (roughly 20W to 45W). The kit also takes RPM 2 pods, which are sold separately and add further coil choices.
  • Pod capacity: UK rules limit refillable tanks and pods that hold nicotine e-liquid to 2ml, so UK-market kits ship with a 2ml pod. Some overseas listings quote around 6ml, which you may see on international product pages. Do not assume a 6ml pod is the version you will receive in the UK.
  • Body size: a pocketable, slim body, with listings quoting a length of around 13.6cm. That extra height compared with a sealed pod kit is the cost of housing a full-size cell.
  • Controls: a fire button plus adjustment buttons for wattage and menu navigation.
  • Finishes: this listing groups several colour finishes together, including Matte 7 Color, Matte Blue, Matte Gold, Matte Gunmetal and Matte Red. The finish does not change how the device performs.
  • Type: refillable pod mod kit. Supplied without e-liquid and without nicotine.

Two numbers in that list deserve a closer look. The first is the 100W ceiling. It is headroom, not a target: the mesh coils that come with the kit are rated well below 100W, and running a coil above its stated range shortens its life and burns the flavour. The second is the external cell. It is the biggest difference between this kit and sealed devices such as the Smok RPM 85, and it changes how you charge, how long a day of vaping lasts and how you handle safety, all of which we explain in the battery section.

Performance and vapour delivery

The way to understand the RPM 100 is to treat it as two different devices depending on the coil you fit and the wattage you choose.

At lower power, around 20W to 35W with the 0.23Ω coil. The draw is relatively restricted, the vapour is warm rather than hot and the throat hit is smoother. This is the setting for people who want something close to a cigarette-style mouth-to-lung inhale, particularly with nicotine salt e-liquid. Battery use is gentle, so the pod empties before the cell does.

At medium to higher power, around 45W to 70W with the 0.15Ω coil. The coil heats faster, the vapour is warmer and denser and the cloud is visibly bigger. The draw is looser and suits a direct-to-lung inhale, taking the vapour straight into the lungs. This is where the kit earns its place over a basic starter pod. It also uses e-liquid and battery much faster, which is the trade you make for the denser delivery.

Mesh coils are the reason this works at all. A mesh sheet spreads the heating surface over a larger area than a traditional round wire, so the e-liquid is vaporised more evenly, the coil reaches working temperature quickly and the flavour tends to stay consistent from the first puff to the last. You should still expect a brief ramp-up on the first draw after a rest, and a short pause between puffs helps the wick refill at higher power.

What about puff counts? A refillable device does not have a fixed puff number the way a disposable did, because it depends on power and the length of each draw. As a rough working figure, a 2ml pod gives around 200 to 350 puffs at 50W to 60W with a moderate three-second draw, and noticeably more at lower power. That is our own estimate rather than a manufacturer claim. A heavier vaper running at 60W may get through a 10ml bottle in two to four days, while someone using 25W to 30W may make the same bottle last a week or more.

Airflow is the second lever after wattage. Depending on the pod version in your kit, airflow may be adjustable, and a tighter setting suits lower power and nicotine salts while a looser setting suits higher power and thicker e-liquids. If your vapour feels hot or the flavour tastes muted, first try opening the airflow and nudging the wattage down by 5W before blaming the coil.

One honest caution: because this is a high-output device in a small body, it rewards sensible settings. If you are new to vaping, begin low and work upward. Running maximum power on a coil rated for 80W will not make the kit better, it will make the coil taste burnt.

Flavour: what the coils do and which e-liquids suit the kit

The Smok RPM 100 Vape Kit is a hardware kit, so it comes with no e-liquid and the flavour you get is whatever you put in the pod. What the kit contributes is how that liquid is vaporised, and this is where mesh coils have a reputation for clean, accurate flavour. The large heating surface warms the liquid evenly, so fruit, dessert and menthol notes come through without the flat or scorched edge that a stressed round-wire coil can produce.

Here are eight e-liquid styles that suit the kit well, with the power range where each tends to behave:

  • Tobacco. Light and medium tobacco blends suit the 0.23Ω coil at 25W to 35W, where the warmth stays moderate and the earthy notes do not turn harsh.
  • Menthol. Pure menthol is a popular choice for ex-smokers. It works across the range, though cooler vapour at lower power usually tastes crisper.
  • Mint. Spearmint and peppermint stay fresh at 30W to 45W and can taste sharp if pushed to the top of the range.
  • Blueberry ice. A dependable all-rounder on the 0.15Ω coil at 45W to 55W, where the fruit and cooling agent both register.
  • Strawberry. Sweet fruits tend to taste most balanced in the middle of the coil range rather than at maximum power.
  • Cola. A fizzy, citrus-edged profile that benefits from the even heating of mesh, ideally at 40W to 50W.
  • Mango. Dense tropical fruit works well at higher power, where the warm vapour carries the richer notes.
  • Custard and dessert blends. These are thicker and sweeter, so use moderate power and watch the coil, because sugary liquids shorten coil life.

Thickness matters too. Mesh coils cope with a wide range of liquid, but very high-VG e-liquids (the thick, syrupy kind) can wick slowly in a small pod and lead to dry hits at higher power. A 50/50 or 60/40 PG to VG blend is an easy starting point, and a 70VG blend is fine at moderate power. If you use nicotine salts, you will usually be on a 50/50 blend anyway.

On the subject of variants: when you see Matte Blue, Matte Gold, Matte Gunmetal, Matte Red or Matte 7 Color on this page, those are colour finishes of the device, not flavours. The variant selector changes the look of the body only. If you want a particular flavour, you choose that separately when you buy e-liquid.

Finally, change e-liquid thoughtfully. A coil absorbs some of the flavour of what it has vaporised, so switching from a strong menthol to a delicate fruit can leave traces. If you swap flavours often, keep a spare pod or flush the pod between fills so the old taste does not carry over.

Design, build quality and ergonomics

The first thing to know about the body is that it is built around a cell, so it is taller than a sealed pod kit. At roughly 13 to 14cm, it fits a trouser or jacket pocket without trouble but is more noticeable than a slim 15W starter pod. The slim profile helps it sit comfortably in a hand, and the weight is reasonable once a cell is installed.

Smok uses a zinc-alloy style construction on devices in this class, which gives a solid feel and reasonable resistance to everyday knocks. The matte finishes available on this listing, including Matte Blue, Matte Gold, Matte Gunmetal, Matte Red and Matte 7 Color, are chosen partly for look and partly for practicality: a matte surface hides fingerprints better than gloss, although it can show wear at the edges after months in a pocket with keys.

The pod clicks onto the top of the body and is held in place magnetically or by a snug fit, depending on the pod version. A good seat matters for two reasons. It keeps the coil contacts aligned so the device fires reliably, and it prevents the pod from rocking, which is a common cause of leaks. When you click a pod on, give it a gentle press until it settles, and check it before you vape.

The 0.96 inch screen is small, but it shows what you need to see: the wattage you have set, the battery level and basic status information. It is easy to read in daylight. Buttons are placed where a thumb naturally rests, and the fire button is large enough to find without looking. The adjustment buttons are less prominent, which is useful because it makes accidental setting changes in a pocket less likely.

A few ergonomic points worth knowing:

  • Weight and balance. Weight depends mostly on the cell you fit. A larger 21700 cell adds some mass but also adds endurance.
  • Grip. Matte finishes are less slippery than glossy metal, which helps when you are outdoors in cold weather.
  • Pocket carry. Carry the device with the pod seated, the screen locked and no loose coins or keys against the battery door. Do not carry spare cells loose without a plastic case.
  • Durability. It is a consumer device, not a rugged one. Avoid dropping it onto hard floors, and wipe the pod contacts occasionally with a dry cloth.

Overall, the build is practical rather than luxurious. It looks like what it is, a well-priced kit from an established maker, and at this price point that is a fair outcome.

Battery, cell choice and charging

The power source is the most important difference between the RPM 100 and a sealed pod kit, so it deserves careful attention. The device uses one removable lithium-ion cell, either the common 18650 size or the larger 21700 size. The cell is usually not included, so you will need to buy one from a reputable supplier.

Choosing a cell. Look for two numbers. The first is capacity, measured in mAh. A good 18650 is typically in the region of 2,500 to 3,500mAh, and a 21700 usually runs from about 4,000 to 5,000mAh. The second, and the more important for safety, is the continuous discharge rating (CDR), measured in amps. Because this kit can reach 100W from a roughly 3.7V cell, the current drawn is high, so choose a cell with a continuous rating of at least 20A, and preferably 25A to 30A if you intend to use the upper end of the range. Do not rely on unbranded cells advertised with enormous capacities, because those figures are usually inflated.

Estimated run time. A 3,000mAh cell holds roughly 11Wh of energy. At 50W with three-second puffs, that is around 220 puffs allowing for losses, which is our own estimate. A 4,500mAh 21700 at the same setting returns about 330 puffs. At 30W the same cells stretch to well over 350 puffs. For a moderate vaper, a 21700 at medium power should last a day. If you vape heavily at high power, carry a second charged cell.

Charging. The USB-C port lets you charge the cell inside the device with a standard USB charger and cable. It is convenient, but it also heats the cell and the device body, and it ties up the kit while it charges. Many experienced users take the cell out and use a dedicated external charger, which is faster, gentler on the cell and lets you rotate two cells. Whichever you choose, use a plug from a reputable brand, never charge unattended overnight and never charge on a bed or sofa.

Cell safety basics.

  • Check the cell wrap for tears, and have it rewrapped or replaced if the plastic is damaged.
  • Never carry loose cells in a pocket with coins, keys or other metal. Use a plastic case.
  • Stop using any cell that gets unusually hot, swells or smells.
  • Do not mix cells of different brands or ages, and use the same cell type consistently.
  • Match the polarity shown inside the battery compartment when you insert a cell.

Disposal. When a cell reaches the end of its life, do not put it in household waste or kerbside recycling. Most supermarkets and household waste recycling centres have battery collection points, and many vape retailers will accept used cells and devices. Tape over the ends of a worn cell before you take it for recycling.

The external-cell design has a clear advantage: a worn cell costs a few pounds to replace, whereas a sealed device ends its life when its battery does. The trade-off is that you carry more responsibility for choosing and handling that cell.

RPM 3 mesh coils and the pod system

The RPM 100 is part of Smok's RPM system, and the coil is built into a replaceable head that sits inside the pod. The kit is normally supplied with RPM 3 mesh coils, which is the reason the device can handle higher wattage than a typical starter pod.

The two coils you will usually receive.

  • RPM 3 Mesh 0.15Ω: a low-resistance coil rated for roughly 40W to 80W. It produces the warmest, densest vapour and the biggest cloud. It is the choice for direct-to-lung vaping and for 3mg to 6mg e-liquid.
  • RPM 3 Mesh 0.23Ω: a slightly higher-resistance coil rated for roughly 20W to 45W. It gives a tighter draw, uses less e-liquid and battery and suits nicotine salts and a more mouth-to-lung style.

Resistance and wattage are linked. A lower resistance coil draws more current at a given power, so it heats faster and needs the stronger cell we discussed above. If you are unsure, start with the 0.23Ω coil at around 30W, then move to the 0.15Ω coil when you want a looser draw.

RPM 2 compatibility. The kit can also take pods that use the RPM 2 coil fitting, which are sold separately. This is a useful safety net because RPM 2 coils are widely sold in UK vape shops, and it gives you more choices in resistance if you prefer a particular style. Always check the wattage range printed on the coil packaging, because RPM 2 and RPM 3 coils are not rated identically.

Pod capacity and the UK 2ml rule. In the UK, refillable tanks and pods used with nicotine e-liquid are limited to 2ml. UK-market kits therefore ship with a 2ml pod, and the 6ml figure that appears on some overseas product pages describes a version that is not intended for nicotine e-liquid in the UK. Two millilitres sounds small, and a heavy user will empty it several times a day, which is why refilling quickly becomes a habit.

How long does a coil last? Typically one to three weeks of regular use. The main factors are wattage, how sweet your e-liquid is and how well you prime the coil. Sweet, dessert-style liquids leave residue and shorten coil life, while fresh tobacco or menthol liquids are kinder. Replace the coil when the flavour turns flat or burnt, when the vapour production drops, or when you get dry hits despite a full pod.

Priming and care. Always let a freshly fitted coil soak for five to ten minutes before you press the fire button. If you dry fire a coil, meaning you vape it before the cotton is saturated, you will burn it in seconds. Keep an eye on the pod level and refill before it runs low, since a half-empty pod at high power is a common cause of burnt hits.

Choosing a nicotine strength under UK rules

The Smok RPM 100 Vape Kit contains no nicotine, because it is hardware and not e-liquid. Choosing a strength is therefore a decision about the liquid you buy. The UK rules are straightforward: nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml (2%), nicotine bottles are limited to 10ml, and the refillable pod or tank is limited to 2ml. Those limits apply to all legally sold nicotine e-liquid, and the ban on disposable vapes that started on 1 June 2025 means refillable kits like this one are now the main option for adults who vape.

The right strength depends mostly on the power setting and the type of nicotine, so here is a simple guide:

  • Low power, 20W to 30W, 0.23Ω coil. This is a mouth-to-lung style and suits nicotine salt e-liquid at 10mg to 20mg/ml. Salts are smoother at high strength, which is why they are popular with former smokers. Lighter smokers can start at 10mg.
  • Medium power, 30W to 45W, either coil. A mid-range approach. Freebase nicotine at 6mg to 12mg works here, or salt at 10mg if you prefer. Choose lower if the throat hit feels harsh.
  • Higher power, 45W to 70W, 0.15Ω coil. This is a direct-to-lung style and much more vapour reaches your lungs per puff, so a lower strength is sensible. Freebase at 3mg to 6mg is the usual range. Using 20mg salt at this power is uncomfortable and delivers far more nicotine than most people want.

A simple way to think about it: the more vapour you draw per puff, the lower the strength you need. As a rule of thumb, if you find yourself coughing, feeling lightheaded or getting a sharp scratch in the throat, the strength or the power is too high. Reduce one of them before changing anything else.

Former smokers sometimes ask how many cigarettes a given strength replaces. That depends on the individual, so treat any comparison as a starting point and adjust over a week or two. Heavy smokers of twenty a day usually start on the upper end of the range at lower power, and lighter smokers on the lower end. If you want to reduce nicotine over time, the 0.15Ω coil at 3mg is a straightforward step down.

Nicotine-free options. If you vape without nicotine, a 0mg liquid works in any setting. Shortfill bottles (0mg e-liquid in a larger bottle, with space for nicotine shots) are also legal in the UK, but the final mix must not exceed 20mg/ml.

This kit is for adults who already smoke or vape. Nicotine is addictive, and nobody who does not use nicotine already should start. Anyone who is pregnant, has a heart condition or is on medication should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using nicotine products, and free local stop smoking services can help if your goal is to quit completely.

Who the Smok RPM 100 suits, and who should skip it

No device suits everyone. Here is an honest summary of who gets the most out of this kit and who is likely to be happier with something else.

It is a good fit for:

  • Vapers stepping up from a basic starter pod. If your current device feels underpowered, the RPM 100 gives you a larger cloud, a warmer draw and more flavour without moving to a full mod and tank.
  • Anyone who likes to adjust. If you enjoy dialling in wattage and trying different coils to find the point where a liquid tastes right, the 5W to 100W range is useful.
  • Budget-minded buyers who want a swappable battery. A worn cell is cheap to replace and you can carry a spare, which makes it more practical than a sealed device for long days.
  • Smokers moving to vaping. The kit is flexible enough to start with salts at low power and move to freebase at higher power if your preferences change.
  • Anyone who owns Smok RPM coils already. The coil ecosystem is shared, so you can reuse what you have.

You may want to skip it if:

  • You want a no-maintenance device. This kit needs a cell, a charging routine, refilling and the occasional coil change. If you want to switch it on and never think about it, a sealed pod system is simpler.
  • You want the smallest possible device. The body has to accommodate a full-size cell, so it will never be as slim as a compact starter pod.
  • You do not want to handle loose cells. The battery safety points above are simple but must be followed. If that does not appeal, consider a model with a sealed battery.
  • You only vape at very low power. If you would never go above 15W, you are paying for headroom you will not use.
  • You do not smoke or vape already. This product is for adult smokers and vapers only and is not suitable for under-18s.

A final point on expectations. The RPM 100 is a capable, affordable kit, but it is a single-pod device with a small tank. People who want all-day vaping without refills, or a big cloud without thinking about wattage, will find a larger tank-based mod more suitable.

How to set up, fill and use the kit

Setting up the device takes a few minutes. Follow these steps in order.

  • Check the contents. Confirm you have the device, a pod, the coils, a USB-C cable and any adapter or quick start card. Remember that the cell is normally bought separately.
  • Insert the cell. Open the battery compartment as shown in the quick start card and fit a charged 18650 or 21700 cell, matching the positive and negative markings. If you are using an 18650, make sure any supplied spacer or adapter is fitted so the cell makes contact.
  • Fit the coil. If the pod does not already have a coil, press the RPM 3 coil into the pod until it seats firmly. Choose the 0.23Ω coil for lower power and the 0.15Ω coil for higher power.
  • Fill the pod. Open the silicone fill plug on the pod, tilt it slightly and add e-liquid slowly down the side so air does not get trapped. Stop below the maximum line, because overfilling is the main cause of leaks. Close the plug firmly.
  • Prime the coil. Let the filled pod stand for five to ten minutes so the cotton soaks fully. This single step prevents most early burnt hits.
  • Attach the pod. Click it onto the body and check that it sits flush.
  • Switch on. Many Smok devices switch on or off with five quick presses of the fire button, but check the quick start card for your batch.
  • Set your wattage. Start low, around 25W to 30W for the 0.23Ω coil or around 40W for the 0.15Ω coil, then raise in small steps until the flavour and warmth feel right.
  • Take a gentle first puff. Hold the fire button, draw slowly for two to three seconds and release. Let the vapour out gradually and pause between draws.

Everyday care. Top up the pod before it is empty, wipe the pod contacts with a dry cloth now and then, keep the device upright when you are not using it, and avoid leaving it in a hot car, where the e-liquid expands and may leak. When you change flavour, empty and rinse the pod with warm water, dry it completely and refill.

Changing a coil. Switch the device off, take the pod off the body and empty any e-liquid. Pull the old coil out, press the new coil into place, refill and prime. It takes less than two minutes once you have done it once.

Age and responsibility. Vaping products are sold to adults aged 18 and over only. Keep the kit, e-liquid and cells away from children and pets, and store e-liquid in its original bottle.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most faults on a pod mod are small and fixable. Here are the ones we see most often, with the likely cause and a simple fix.

  • The device will not fire or the screen shows an error about the coil. The pod may not be fully seated, or the coil contacts are dirty. Remove the pod, wipe the contacts with a dry cloth and click it back on firmly. If the message continues, try a different coil, because a faulty coil is more common than a faulty device.
  • The screen shows a battery error or nothing happens. Check that the cell is inserted the right way round, that the adapter is fitted if you use an 18650, and that the cell is charged. Try a different cell. If one particular cell fails to work, it may be worn or unable to supply the current the device needs.
  • Burnt or harsh taste. Usually dry hits from an unprimed coil, a low pod, too much power or a worn coil. Let the pod soak, refill, lower the wattage by 5W to 10W and, if the taste remains, change the coil.
  • Gurgling or spitting. The pod is overfilled or the coil is flooded. Take the pod off, blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear the excess and wipe it, then refill to a lower level next time.
  • Leaking. Common causes are overfilling, a loose fill plug, a coil not seated fully or pressure changes such as flying. Check the plug, reseat the coil and wipe the pod. Store the device upright.
  • Weak vapour. The coil may be worn, the e-liquid may be too thick, or the wattage may sit below the coil's range. Try raising the power slightly, switching to a thinner liquid or fitting a new coil.
  • The cell drains quickly. At 60W or more, a cell empties fast. Use a higher-capacity 21700, lower the wattage or carry a spare. If a cell that used to last a day suddenly lasts a few hours, it may be worn and should be replaced.
  • The device will not charge. Try another USB-C cable and plug, because cheap cables often fail to deliver power. Clean the port gently with a dry wooden or plastic toothpick if lint has built up. A dedicated external charger is a useful backup.
  • The device heats up. Mild warmth is normal at high power. If it becomes hot to touch, stop using it, remove the cell carefully and let it cool. Persistent overheating means the cell or device should be checked by the retailer.
  • Accidental firing in a pocket. Lock or switch the device off before carrying it, using the multi-click procedure on the quick start card.

If you have tried these steps and the device still misbehaves, contact us with your order number and a short description. Faulty hardware is covered by the manufacturer's warranty and your statutory rights, as described in the questions below.

Value for money and how it compares with similar kits

The sensible way to judge value is to look at the total cost of ownership rather than the sticker price. The kit itself is listed at £25.99 at the time of writing. On top of that you need a quality cell (typically a few pounds each), a charger if you do not already own one, and a supply of e-liquid and coils.

Running costs are modest. A 10ml bottle of e-liquid fills a 2ml pod five times, which at moderate power is somewhere between 1,000 and 1,750 puffs on our estimate. Coils usually cost a few pounds each in multi-packs and last one to three weeks. Electricity for charging a single cell is a fraction of a penny. Taken together, a regular vaper normally spends noticeably less per week than they did on disposable vapes, and the gap widens the longer the device stays in service.

The environmental argument points the same way. A disposable vape is thrown away after a few hundred puffs with its battery and plastic still inside. With this kit the body and pod stay in use for months or years, a cell can be recharged hundreds of times, and only the coil is discarded regularly. Used coils, pods, cells and the device itself should go to a household waste recycling centre or a retailer take-back point rather than the bin.

The cheaper alternatives are real. Basic sealed pod kits cost less, and if you only ever vape at low power they may be all you need. The case for the RPM 100 is headroom and flexibility: you are paying for a wide power range, a replaceable cell and a coil system that is easy to buy for. If you already know you want a simple, tiny device and nothing more, buy that instead, because the right purchase is the one you will actually use.

Here is a fair look at how it compares with other devices a buyer might consider. We have kept the comparisons general rather than quoting detailed specifications for other brands, because those can change between revisions.

Smok RPM 85. The closest sibling. It uses a sealed internal battery of roughly 3,000mAh and a slightly lower maximum output. If you do not want to buy or handle loose cells, it is the simpler choice. If you want a swappable battery, a higher power ceiling or a larger cell, the RPM 100 is the more flexible one. The two share the RPM coil family, so coils are interchangeable in many cases.

Voopoo Drag X family. A well-known competitor in the same style of single-cell pod mod, with a different coil and pod ecosystem. The decision usually comes down to look and feel, menu design, coil availability and price. If you already use Voopoo pods, staying within that ecosystem is a sound reason to choose it, and the same logic applies if you already own Smok RPM coils.

Geekvape Aegis Boost range. Known for a more rugged build with water and shock resistance ratings. If you work outdoors or are hard on your gear, that durability may be worth a higher price. If your device mostly lives in a bag or jacket, the added toughness may be unnecessary.

Sealed starter pods. Small devices at 15W to 25W with a built-in battery. They are cheaper, lighter and simpler, but less flexible, and they cannot run denser mesh coils well. They suit someone who wants a very small, set-and-forget device.

Where the RPM 100 stands. It is a competent, modestly priced kit with a broad power range, a good coil system and a battery you can swap. It is not the lightest, the most rugged or the simplest option, and a buyer should be clear about that before ordering. For a person who wants more power and flavour than a basic pod can give, at a price that stays below many rivals, it makes a reasonable and practical choice.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I choose for the Smok RPM 100?

It depends on the power you use. For low power (20W to 30W) with the 0.23Ω coil, 10mg to 20mg nicotine salt is common. For higher power (45W to 70W) with the 0.15Ω coil, most people choose 3mg to 6mg freebase because more vapour reaches the lungs. The UK limit on nicotine e-liquid is 20mg/ml, and if you feel dizzy or get a harsh throat hit, lower the strength or the wattage.

Does the kit come with a battery, and how do I charge it?

The kit runs on one external 18650 or 21700 cell, which is normally sold separately, so check the contents of your order and buy a cell with a continuous discharge rating of at least 20A. You can charge the cell through the USB-C port in the device, or remove it and use a dedicated external charger, which many users prefer. Never charge unattended overnight.

How long will the battery last on one charge?

It depends on the cell and your wattage. As our own estimate, a 3,000mAh 18650 gives around 220 puffs at 50W, while a 4,500mAh 21700 gives roughly 330 puffs at the same setting and more at lower power. A moderate vaper using a 21700 at medium power should expect about a day, and carrying a spare cell is sensible for heavy use.

How many puffs do I get from one pod and one coil?

A 2ml pod usually gives around 200 to 350 puffs at 50W to 60W, and more at lower power. A coil normally lasts one to three weeks, and sweet dessert e-liquids shorten that. Replace the coil when the flavour turns flat or burnt, or when vapour production drops.

Can I change flavours, and what does the variant selector do?

The kit has no built-in flavour. You choose any e-liquid and swap it whenever you like, ideally rinsing the pod or using a spare pod to avoid flavour carry-over. The variant selector on this page changes only the colour finish, such as Matte Blue, Matte Gold, Matte Gunmetal, Matte Red or Matte 7 Color, and does not affect performance.

Is the Smok RPM 100 good value compared with disposables?

A refillable kit costs more upfront but is cheaper to run. One 10ml bottle fills a 2ml pod five times, coils are inexpensive, and a rechargeable cell can be reused for a long time. Regular vapers normally spend less per week than they would on disposables, and disposable vapes can no longer be sold legally in the UK since 1 June 2025.

Who should and should not buy this kit?

It suits adult smokers and vapers who want adjustable power, a replaceable cell and flavour-focused mesh coils in a pocketable device. It is less suitable if you want a completely maintenance-free vape, the smallest possible body, or only ever vape at very low power. It must not be bought by under-18s or by people who do not already use nicotine.

Do you deliver to the UK and how quickly?

Yes, we deliver to UK addresses, and orders are age-checked because vaping products are sold to adults aged 18 and over only. Delivery options and next-day cut-off times are shown at checkout and on our delivery page. An adult may be asked to confirm their age when the parcel arrives.

What warranty and returns do I get?

The device comes with the manufacturer's warranty for faults, and your statutory consumer rights also apply. If it arrives faulty or stops working, keep the packaging and your order number and contact us so we can arrange a repair, replacement or refund. Coils, pods, cells and e-liquid are consumables and are not covered by the device warranty unless they arrive defective.

How do I dispose of or recycle the device, cells and used coils?

Do not put vapes, pods, coils or lithium cells in household waste or kerbside recycling, because they are a fire risk. Take them to a household waste recycling centre, a battery collection point or a retailer that runs a take-back scheme. Empty the pod first and tape over the ends of a worn cell before you drop it off.
