Ohm Brew Strawberry Chew Nic Salt Overview

Ohm Brew Nic Salts 10ml 18mg Strawberry Chew is a fruit-and-candy e-liquid built on nicotine salt, supplied in a 10ml bottle at 18mg/ml (1.8%) nicotine strength. It is a refill liquid rather than a ready-made device, so you pour it into a refillable pod kit or a compatible low-power vape tank instead of puffing it straight from the pack. The flavour sits in the soft strawberry sweet category: think of a chewy fruit sweet rather than a fresh strawberry from the punnet, with a juicy red-fruit note at the front and a sugary, slightly doughy chew behind it.

Here is what you are actually buying, set out plainly:

  • Bottle size: 10ml, the maximum bottle size permitted for nicotine-containing e-liquid in UK retail.
  • Nicotine strength: 18mg/ml nicotine salt, which sits just under the UK legal ceiling of 20mg/ml.
  • Nicotine type: nicotine salt (nic salt), which feels smoother at higher strengths than freebase nicotine.
  • Total nicotine in the bottle: roughly 180mg (18mg/ml across 10ml).
  • Flavour family: strawberry candy, medium-to-high sweetness, no added cooling.
  • Intended hardware: refillable pod systems and low-wattage mouth-to-lung (MTL) devices.

The reason this kind of product has become so central for UK vapers is regulatory as much as anything else. Single-use disposable vapes were banned from sale across the UK from 1 June 2025. Before the ban, disposables were limited to 20mg/ml nicotine and a 2ml tank, which is the same 20mg/ml ceiling that still applies to every refill bottle on the market today. With disposables gone, a refillable pod kit and a bottle of nic salt is the practical route for anyone who liked the simplicity and flavour range of a disposable but wants a reusable device and less waste.

This guide walks through how the liquid behaves, how to choose a device for it, what 18mg actually feels like, how to fix the usual problems, and how it compares with other 10ml nic salts. It is written for adult smokers and existing vapers, not for anyone who does not already use nicotine.

Vapour, Throat Hit and Puff Delivery at 18mg

Nicotine salt is made by pairing nicotine with an acid, commonly benzoic acid, which lowers the pH of the liquid. The practical result is that a strong nicotine dose is far less harsh on the throat than the same strength of freebase nicotine would be. At 18mg/ml, Ohm Brew Strawberry Chew gives a light-to-medium throat hit with a quick, noticeable nicotine delivery. Many smokers describe the feeling as closer to a cigarette than low-strength freebase liquid can manage, because the nicotine reaches the bloodstream quickly without the cough that high-strength freebase can trigger.

Vapour production is modest by design. Nic salt liquids are normally mixed with a fairly even balance of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), which suits small pod coils and low wattage. You should expect a tight, flavourful mouthful of vapour rather than a large cloud. If big clouds matter to you, a nic salt is the wrong tool and a lower-strength shortfill in a sub-ohm tank is a better fit. Check the bottle label for the exact PG/VG split, since it is printed on every batch.

On puff delivery, a few working figures help. A typical MTL pod draw lasting two to three seconds uses a small amount of liquid, and a rough rule of thumb is 150 to 250 puffs per millilitre in a 10 to 15 watt pod device. On that basis:

  • A 2ml pod fill gives roughly 300 to 500 puffs.
  • A full 10ml bottle gives roughly 1,500 to 2,500 puffs.
  • Heavier users who take long, frequent draws will sit at the lower end; short, occasional draws will sit at the higher end.

These are estimates, not lab figures. Real-world numbers depend on your device wattage, coil resistance, draw length and how often you vape. Because 18mg is a high strength, most people find they take fewer and shorter draws than they would on 10mg or 12mg, which stretches the bottle further than the raw millilitre count suggests.

Flavour Profile: Inhale, Exhale and Aftertaste

Strawberry Chew is a candy-style fruit flavour, and it behaves in layers when you vape it through a clean coil.

  • On the inhale: a bright, sweet strawberry note arrives first. It reads as ripe-but-sugared, closer to strawberry sweets and fruit chews than to a tart or fresh-picked berry.
  • Mid-draw: a soft, chewy, sugary body fills in behind the fruit. This is the part that gives the liquid its name, a rounded candy character with a faint doughy sweetness.
  • On the exhale: the strawberry lingers lightly while the chewy sweetness fades over a couple of seconds, with no menthol or ice to cut across it.
  • Aftertaste: a clean, sweet finish on the lips and tongue. It is not heavy or syrupy, though sweeter liquids do coat the coil faster over time.

Sweetness sits at the medium-to-high end. If you prefer dry, tart or sour fruit profiles, this will feel sugary; if you enjoy fruit sweets, it will feel familiar. Because there is no cooling agent, the flavour stays warm and rounded, which many vapers prefer for all-day use because it is less likely to numb the palate than an icy flavour.

Flavour output changes with your setup. At lower wattage the strawberry stays crisp and the chewy note stays soft. Push the power up and the sweetness intensifies and the candy note can start to taste cooked or caramelised, which is a sign to turn the wattage down. A fresh coil needs a few minutes of soaking before the first draw; if you vape it dry, the cotton can scorch and the flavour will be flat or burnt for the whole life of that coil.

Flavour fatigue is a real thing with sweet profiles. If the taste seems to fade after a few days even though the bottle is fresh, the cause is often your palate or a coil coated in sugar residue, not a faulty batch. Switching coils, or rotating between two flavours, usually restores the taste.

Bottle Design, Packaging and Build Quality

Since this is an e-liquid, build quality comes down to the bottle, the cap, the label and the filling nozzle. Ohm Brew uses the standard 10ml plastic bottle format found across the UK nic salt market: a soft, squeezable body, a narrow tip for accurate pouring into small pod ports, and a child-resistant, tamper-evident cap.

  • Squeezable body: the soft plastic lets you control the flow drop by drop, which matters because pod fill ports are small and a heavy squeeze floods the airflow channel.
  • Narrow nozzle: the thin tip fits most pod fill holes without a separate dropper or funnel. If your device has an unusually tight port, a blunt-tip needle bottle can help, though it is rarely necessary.
  • Child-resistant cap: UK rules require child-resistant, tamper-evident closures on nicotine e-liquid. Push down and turn to open. It can feel stiff the first time, which is the point.
  • Printed label: carries the flavour name, nicotine strength, ingredients, batch information and the mandatory nicotine health warning. Always read it before use and keep the bottle in its original packaging if you share a home with children or pets.

Check the seal when the parcel arrives. The tamper-evident ring should be intact and the cap should sit flush. A little residue near the nozzle can be normal from filling, but a wet label or a bottle that has leaked into the packaging is a reason to contact the shop rather than use it.

The plastic is opaque or tinted to cut down on light exposure. Even so, treat the bottle like any other flavoured liquid: keep it upright, away from heat and direct sunlight, and put the cap back on firmly after every fill. Light and heat degrade nicotine and flavour compounds over time, which darkens the liquid and dulls the taste, so storage habits genuinely affect how good the last third of the bottle tastes.

Pairing With a Device: Batteries and Charging

There is no battery in a bottle of e-liquid, so charging and battery life depend entirely on the device you pour it into. This is worth understanding before you buy, because the wrong device can make a good liquid taste poor.

Most refillable pod kits that suit 18mg nic salt have internal batteries somewhere between 400mAh and 1,000mAh, with larger pen-style kits going higher. As a reasonable guide:

  • 400 to 600mAh: compact pod kits, usually a full day for a light vaper and half a day to a day for a heavy one.
  • 700 to 1,000mAh: mid-size kits that comfortably cover a full day for most users.
  • 1,000mAh and above: larger pens and box-style pod mods, which can run for a day and a half or more but are bulkier.

Nic salt is helpful here. Because 18mg is a high strength, you take fewer draws to feel satisfied, which means less battery use per day than the same device running a low-strength liquid.

Charging is via USB, with USB-C the norm on current kits. A few sensible habits apply:

  • Use the cable that came with the device, or a reputable replacement, and a standard phone-style wall adapter or computer port.
  • Do not leave a vape charging unattended overnight or on soft furnishings.
  • Stop using a device if the battery swells, gets unusually hot or the casing is damaged.
  • Do not carry a device loose in a pocket with keys or coins.

When a device reaches the end of its life, it should not go in household bins. Vapes contain lithium batteries and are covered by waste electrical equipment (WEEE) rules. Take it to a household recycling centre, or to a shop that sells vapes, which is required to accept returns of old devices. Check your local council website for the nearest drop-off point.

Coil and Mesh Compatibility

The coil is the part that decides whether Strawberry Chew tastes the way it should. Nic salts are designed for low-power, tight-draw devices, so the match between liquid and coil matters more than with a big sub-ohm tank.

The sweet spot for this liquid is a coil of roughly 0.8 to 1.2 ohm running at about 10 to 15 watts. In that range you get a clean flavour, a smooth hit and sensible liquid consumption. Common coil types you will meet are:

  • Standard Kanthal or stainless coils (about 1.0 to 1.2 ohm): a firm, MTL-style draw with a good level of throat hit and strong flavour. Well suited to smokers moving across from cigarettes.
  • Mesh coils (about 0.6 to 0.8 ohm): a wide heating surface that produces a bit more vapour and slightly more even flavour. They work well with a more open airflow, though they can pull more liquid through, so expect the bottle to go faster.
  • Ceramic coils: found in some pod systems, they tend to give a clean taste and last a long time, but can feel a little muted with some sweet flavours.

Avoid running nic salt at high wattage or in a sub-ohm tank built for 50 watts and above. The nicotine delivery becomes overwhelming, the liquid is used extremely quickly and the throat hit turns harsh. If your tank lists a recommended wattage range, stay in the lower half of it.

Coil lifespan with a sugary candy liquid is usually shorter than with an unsweetened one. Plan on a coil lasting one to two weeks of regular use. The signs of an ageing coil are a dull or burnt taste, a darker colour on the cotton and a muted flavour even after fresh liquid. Prime every new coil by dripping a few drops directly on the exposed cotton, fill the tank, and wait five to ten minutes before the first draw. That one habit prevents most early coil failures.

Choosing Your Nicotine Strength: Is 18mg Right?

Nicotine strength is the most important choice you make with any nic salt, and 18mg/ml is a high one. It is aimed at people who are still fully dependent on nicotine, typically smokers who want to switch from tobacco entirely and need their cravings met quickly.

A practical way to think about it:

  • 20 or more cigarettes a day, or first cigarette within 30 minutes of waking: 18mg to 20mg is a sensible starting point.
  • 10 to 20 cigarettes a day: 12mg to 18mg usually works; start at 18mg if you find lower strengths leave you reaching for a cigarette.
  • Fewer than 10 cigarettes a day, or you are already vaping at a lower strength: 6mg to 12mg is more suitable, and 18mg may feel too strong.
  • Social or occasional smokers: a lower strength, around 5mg to 10mg, is usually enough.

The UK maximum for all nicotine e-liquid is 20mg/ml, so 18mg sits close to the top of what is legally available. Anything that claims to be stronger is not a UK-legal product.

Signs that 18mg is too strong for you include dizziness, nausea, a racing heartbeat, sweating or a headache after a few draws. That is nicotine overload, sometimes called nic sickness. Put the device down, drink some water, eat something and try a lower strength next time. Signs it is too weak are the opposite: you vape constantly, still get cravings and find yourself going back to cigarettes.

The long-term aim for most people is to step down gradually as cravings ease, moving from 18mg to 12mg, then 6mg, and onwards if they wish. Nicotine is addictive, and vaping is not risk-free, so this product is intended for adults who currently smoke or vape and want to reduce harm, not for anyone who does not use nicotine already.

Who Ohm Brew Strawberry Chew Suits and Who Should Skip It

This liquid is a specific tool for a specific type of user. Being honest about that saves you a wasted order.

It is a good fit if you:

  • Are an adult smoker moving to vaping and need a high nicotine strength to settle cravings.
  • Already use a refillable pod kit or MTL device and want a sweet fruit flavour.
  • Used disposables before the ban and want a refillable replacement with a similar candy-fruit taste.
  • Prefer warm, rounded flavours over minty or icy ones.
  • Want a compact 10ml bottle that is easy to carry and refill from.

It is probably not for you if you:

  • Are under 18. It is illegal to sell nicotine products to anyone under 18 in the UK, and age checks apply at checkout and on delivery.
  • Have never smoked or used nicotine. Starting nicotine is not advisable.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a heart condition, high blood pressure or other health concerns. Speak to your GP or pharmacist first.
  • Use a high-power sub-ohm tank, where a lower-strength shortfill is the correct match.
  • Dislike sweet flavours, or find candy profiles cloying after a few days.
  • Want large clouds, since nic salt in a pod is not built for that.

If you are not sure, most vape shops and NHS Stop Smoking services can advise on strength and device choice. Local stop smoking services frequently offer free support and sometimes provide starter vape kits to smokers who want to quit, which is worth checking before you spend money.

How to Fill and Use Your Strawberry Chew Nic Salt

Filling a pod is simple once you have done it a couple of times. Work somewhere clean and flat, with a tissue to hand, and keep the bottle and device away from children and pets while the cap is off.

  • Step 1, power down: switch the device off, or unplug it from any charger, before you open the pod or tank.
  • Step 2, open the fill port: remove the pod from the battery section, then pull back the silicone bung or slide open the fill window. Some tanks unscrew at the top instead.
  • Step 3, tilt and fill: hold the pod at an angle, rest the bottle nozzle against the fill port and squeeze slowly. Stop below the maximum fill line. Never pour into the central airflow tube, as it floods the coil and causes gurgling and leaks.
  • Step 4, close and wait: seal the port, refit the pod and wait five to ten minutes so the cotton can saturate fully.
  • Step 5, first draws: take gentle, two to three second draws with a pause between them. Avoid chain vaping, which dries the cotton faster than it can re-wet.

A few habits make the liquid last and keep the flavour clean:

  • Top up before the pod runs completely empty. Vaping a dry pod burns the cotton and ruins the coil.
  • Wipe the nozzle and the fill port after each refill, since sticky residue attracts dust and can make the bottle cap hard to turn.
  • If you switch flavours, rinse the pod with lukewarm water, dry it fully, and fit a fresh coil if the old flavour lingers.
  • Keep the bottle capped, upright and out of sunlight. A sealed bottle stored in a cool cupboard stays at its best for many months.

When the bottle is empty, check the label for recycling guidance and your local council rules, as plastic bottles that held nicotine liquid are sometimes treated differently from ordinary plastic packaging. Drop-off points at household waste recycling centres are the most reliable route. Old devices and batteries should go to a WEEE collection point or back to a retailer, never in household rubbish or general recycling.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

Most issues with a nic salt and a pod kit come down to a short list of causes. Work through these before assuming the liquid is at fault.

  • The pod leaks: usually overfilling, a loose bung or liquid in the airflow tube. Wipe everything dry, fill to just below the max line and make sure the pod seats firmly. A cracked pod or a worn seal means a replacement pod.
  • Gurgling or spitting: the coil is flooded. Remove the pod, blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear the airflow channel, dry the contacts and wait a few minutes before vaping again.
  • Burnt or dry taste: the cotton has dried out or the coil is worn. Replace the coil, prime it properly and keep the wattage in the lower half of the recommended range.
  • Weak or washed-out flavour: often an ageing coil or palate fatigue. Fit a new coil, rest your palate for an hour and, if needed, vape a different flavour for a day.
  • Throat hit feels too harsh: lower the wattage, take shorter draws or move to a lower strength such as 12mg. A very hot, dry coil also increases harshness.
  • Dizziness, nausea or a headache: a sign you have taken in too much nicotine. Stop, drink water and step down in strength next time.
  • Device will not fire: check the battery charge, clean the pod and battery contacts with a dry cotton bud and make sure the pod is fully inserted.
  • Sticky bottle: wipe with a damp cloth. If liquid appears to be leaking from the bottle itself rather than the tip, the cap may be cross-threaded, so reseat it carefully.

If a problem continues after you have tried a fresh coil, a clean pod and the correct fill level, contact the shop and include your order number, the batch number from the bottle label and a short description of what you are seeing. Photos help.

Value for Money and How Long a Bottle Lasts

Judging value on a 10ml nic salt means looking at cost per millilitre and how long the bottle actually lasts, not just the shelf price. Prices change, so check the current figure on the product page, but the approach below works whatever the number is.

  • Cost per ml: divide the bottle price by 10. This is the figure to compare against other liquids and against shortfills.
  • Daily usage: light users get through about 1ml a day, moderate users 2ml and heavy users 3ml or more. That gives a 10ml bottle roughly three to ten days of use.
  • Coil cost: with a sweet liquid, factor in a replacement coil every one to two weeks. Coils for common pod kits are typically a few pounds each.
  • Device cost: a refillable kit is a one-off outlay that pays back quickly compared with repeatedly buying disposables, which were also more expensive per puff.

For a smoker who spent £12 to £15 a day on a pack of cigarettes, switching to a pod kit and a bottle of nic salt every week usually lowers weekly spend by a substantial margin, even after counting coils. This is one of the reasons local authority stop smoking services recommend a switch for adults who are not ready to give up nicotine altogether.

Where this product is less efficient is against bulk buying. Nic salt in 10ml bottles costs more per millilitre than a 50ml or 100ml shortfill, because the bottle size is legally capped and nicotine adds to the cost. The trade-off is that shortfills do not suit most pod kits and need nicotine shots to reach a salt strength. If your device is a pod system, a 10ml bottle is the correct format and the price per ml is the cost of that convenience.

Multi-buy offers, where shops give a lower price for three or five bottles, tend to be the easiest saving for regular users. Buy two bottles at a time if you vape daily, so you never run out and risk reaching for a cigarette.

How It Compares With Other 10ml Nic Salts

Ohm Brew is one of many UK nic salt ranges, and a fair comparison means saying where it stands and where alternatives may suit you better.

  • Against established salt ranges such as Dinner Lady Salts, Nasty Salt and IVG Salt: these brands also sell 10ml nic salts with strong fruit and candy lines. Several of them offer a wider catalogue of flavours and a longer track record, so if you want the largest number of options to rotate through, they are worth looking at. Ohm Brew counters with a focused candy-fruit selection, and 18mg gives you a strength between the more common 10mg and 20mg options.
  • Against Elfliq and other disposable-inspired salt ranges: these lean into the flavours people knew from disposables. Strawberry Chew sits in a similar space, so if you are replacing a disposable, a side-by-side taste test of two or three candy fruit liquids is the quickest way to decide.
  • Against freebase shortfills: a shortfill in a sub-ohm tank gives bigger clouds and a lower nicotine hit, which suits people who want a mellow all-day vape. It will not give the quick, strong nicotine delivery of 18mg salt, and it does not work well in small pod kits.
  • Against prefilled closed pods: these are convenient, with no bottle and no filling, but you are limited to a smaller flavour range and pay more per millilitre. A refillable pod and a bottle gives more control and usually costs less over a month.

Where Ohm Brew Strawberry Chew holds up well is in smoothness at 18mg, a clear flavour that does not rely on menthol and a bottle format that works with almost any pod kit. Where it is weaker is in range breadth compared with the largest brands and in the fact that, like all strongly sweet liquids, it asks for more frequent coil changes.

None of these options is wrong. The right choice depends on your device, your nicotine needs and how much you value variety against simplicity. If you already know you like strawberry candy flavours and need a high strength for a pod kit, this is a straightforward and sensible match.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Best value per ml in the category
  • Choose your own device and coil
  • Available in a wide strength ladder

Cons

  • Refilling can leak if you overfill
  • Coil priming has a small learning curve
  • You handle the bottle — less discreet than pods

Customer Buying Tips

  • Match the strength to how much you smoked: 20+/day → 10-20 mg nic salt; 10/day → 10 mg; under 5/day → 3-6 mg freebase.
  • Match the ratio to your device: pod kits take 50/50, sub-ohm tanks take 70/30 shortfill.
  • Don't overfill: leaving the airhole clear prevents gurgling and leaking.
  • Shake before use so the nicotine and flavour integrate evenly.

Frequently asked questions

Is 18mg the right nicotine strength for me?

18mg/ml suits smokers of roughly 10 to 20 or more cigarettes a day who need cravings settled quickly. If you smoke fewer than 10 a day or are already vaping at 10mg or 12mg, it may feel too strong, and a lower strength is more comfortable. The UK legal maximum is 20mg/ml, so 18mg is close to the top end.

How do I charge the vape, since this is only a liquid?

The bottle has no battery, so there is nothing to charge. You charge the pod kit or device you pour it into, usually via USB-C, using the supplied cable and a standard wall adapter. Never leave a charging device unattended or on soft furnishings overnight.

Can I mix it with other flavours, and are there other Ohm Brew flavours?

You can switch between flavours freely, but rinse and dry the pod and fit a fresh coil first so the old taste does not carry over. Mixing different liquids inside one pod is not advised, as it makes the flavour and nicotine level hard to predict. Check the Ohm Brew brand page for the other flavours currently in stock.

How long does a 10ml bottle last?

As a rough guide, 10ml gives around 1,500 to 2,500 puffs in a low-wattage pod kit. Light users who take about 1ml a day may stretch a bottle to around ten days, while heavier users on 3ml a day may finish it in three or four. Actual life depends on your device, coil and draw habits.

Is Ohm Brew Strawberry Chew good value?

Compare the cost per millilitre by dividing the bottle price by 10, and add the cost of coils. For pod kit users it compares well against buying disposables or cigarettes. It costs more per ml than a shortfill, but shortfills do not suit most pod devices.

Who should and shouldn't buy this?

It is intended for adult smokers and existing vapers who want a high-strength, sweet strawberry candy flavour in a refillable pod kit. It is not suitable for under 18s, non-smokers, anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, or people with heart conditions unless a doctor has said it is fine. Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Will it work in my sub-ohm tank?

It is designed for pod kits and MTL devices running about 10 to 15 watts with coils of roughly 0.8 to 1.2 ohm. In a high-power sub-ohm tank the nicotine delivery becomes too intense and the liquid is used up very quickly. If you have a sub-ohm device, a lower-strength shortfill is a better choice.

Do you deliver across the UK, and is age verification required?

Orders are delivered to UK addresses, and nicotine products can only be sold to customers aged 18 or over, so age checks apply at checkout and may also apply on delivery. Check the delivery page for current costs, cut-off times and service options.

What if my bottle arrives damaged or leaking?

Contact the shop with your order number and photos of the bottle and packaging as soon as possible. Faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied items are covered under UK consumer law, and the shop will usually replace or refund them. For hygiene and safety reasons, opened e-liquid bottles that are not faulty generally cannot be returned, so see the returns page for the full terms.

How should I store and dispose of it?

Store the bottle upright with the cap fully closed, somewhere cool, dark and out of reach of children and pets. Take empty bottles to your local recycling centre if your council does not accept them in kerbside recycling, and take old vapes and batteries to a WEEE drop-off point or a retailer that takes them back.
