Pod Salt Origin Cuban Creme 10ml 20mg: product overview

Pod Salt Origin Tobacco Series Cuban Creme is a 10ml nicotine salt e-liquid sold here at 20mg/ml (2%), which is the highest nicotine strength a UK consumer can legally buy in a refill bottle. It belongs to the tobacco range within the Pod Salt Origin family, a line built for people who want a steady, familiar flavour in a refillable pod device rather than a fruit-and-ice mix. Cuban Creme is the creamy, cigar-leaning option in that range, and this guide explains what that means in everyday use, who it suits, and where another liquid might do the job better.

Here is a quick fact sheet before we go into detail:

  • Bottle size: 10ml, the maximum size permitted for nicotine e-liquid in the UK.
  • Nicotine type: nicotine salt, which is absorbed more quickly and feels gentler on the throat than freebase nicotine at the same strength.
  • Strength: 20mg/ml, equal to 2% nicotine by volume. This is the UK ceiling for e-liquid and for disposables alike.
  • Flavour family: tobacco with a creamy, lightly sweet finish.
  • Intended hardware: refillable pod kits and low-power mouth-to-lung devices.
  • Age restriction: 18+ only, and intended for adult smokers and existing vapers.

Nic salt liquids of this style are normally formulated around a fairly balanced VG/PG blend so that they wick well in the small coils found in pod systems. The exact ratio and full ingredient list are printed on the bottle label, and we always defer to the manufacturer's own packaging for those details rather than guessing.

This page is written to be useful rather than promotional. Where Cuban Creme suits a particular kind of vaper we say so, and where a different strength, flavour or device would be a better fit we say that as well. If you are new to nicotine salts, the sections on strength guidance, device choice and troubleshooting are worth reading before you fill your first pod.

Cuban Creme flavour profile: what to expect

Tobacco e-liquids divide opinion more than any other category, mainly because 'tobacco' means something different to every ex-smoker. Cuban Creme sits towards the cigar-and-cream end of the spectrum rather than the dry, papery tones of a straight Virginia leaf. The name gives the game away: you are looking at a warm, rounded tobacco character paired with a soft, dessert-like creaminess.

A typical vape tends to unfold in three stages:

  • Inhale: a smooth, slightly toasted leaf note with some depth to it. It is not harsh or ashy, which is helpful if you have tried tobacco liquids before and found them acrid.
  • Mid-draw: the cream begins to show. Most people describe it as vanilla or custard-leaning rather than sugary, and it rounds off the edges of the tobacco.
  • Exhale: a lingering, gently sweet finish with a faint cigar-box warmth. There is no menthol or cooling element, so the flavour stays warm and dry-sweet from start to finish.

It helps to be realistic about what a tobacco e-liquid can do. No bottle will taste identical to a cigarette, because combustion produces hundreds of compounds that a vape simply does not. What a good tobacco liquid does is give you a recognisable leaf character that is clean and consistent. Cuban Creme does this while softening the experience with cream, which many people find easier to live with across a full day than a sharper, drier blend.

Flavour perception is personal. Sweetness that one person reads as a pleasant finish can strike another as slightly cloying, particularly at higher wattage where the liquid heats more and the sweet notes become more pronounced. If you tend to dislike desserty vapes, start at the lowest power setting your device offers and see whether you enjoy the balance before turning it up.

Because the flavour is warm rather than cold, it also tends to taste fuller at room temperature or slightly above. If you vape outdoors on a cold morning, the first few puffs may taste a little muted until the pod warms through. That is normal for any e-liquid and is not a sign of a faulty bottle.

Throat hit, vapour and nicotine delivery

A 10ml bottle does not have a puff count in the way a disposable does, so performance is best judged by three things: throat hit, vapour volume and how quickly the nicotine settles a craving. Nicotine salts are designed to do well on all three at low power.

At 20mg/ml, the throat hit of a nic salt is noticeably softer than a freebase liquid of the same strength. If you have ever tried a 20mg freebase and coughed on the first draw, you will probably find salt nicotine much more tolerable. Even so, 20mg is a firm, cigarette-like hit rather than a gentle one, and that is deliberate. It is aimed at people who need a stronger delivery to stay off cigarettes.

Vapour production is moderate. Pod systems and low-wattage devices produce smaller clouds than sub-ohm kits, and this liquid is not meant to be used for cloud chasing. Expect a tidy, discreet exhale that disperses quickly. That makes it a sensible choice for people who vape around others, in the car or in a shared space where you want to be considerate.

In practice, the points that matter most are:

  • Speed of satisfaction: nic salts reach the bloodstream faster than freebase, so many vapers feel satisfied after fewer puffs.
  • Consistency: the hit stays similar from the first pod fill to the last, as long as you keep the coil in good condition.
  • Power sensitivity: turning the wattage up increases both vapour and nicotine intake, and with a 20mg liquid it can become harsh quickly. Lower settings are usually more pleasant.
  • Draw style: a slow, steady mouth-to-lung draw works best, then a brief pause before inhaling to the lungs.

Because of the nicotine concentration, take longer gaps between puffs than you might with a 3mg or 6mg freebase liquid. If you feel dizzy, queasy or lightheaded, you are taking too much too quickly. Put the device down, drink some water and consider a lower strength next time.

Bottle design and build quality

The liquid is supplied in a 10ml plastic bottle with a narrow dropper-style nozzle. This is the format most UK vapers are used to, and it is the size that regulation allows for nicotine-containing refills. The narrow tip is intended to fit the fill ports on refillable pods without spilling, which matters because many pod fill holes are only a few millimetres wide.

The points worth checking when your bottle arrives are:

  • Child-resistant cap: UK rules require a child-resistant closure on nicotine e-liquid. It takes a firm push-and-turn to open, which can be fiddly the first time but is a safety feature rather than a defect.
  • Tamper-evident seal: the ring around the cap should be intact on a new bottle. If it is broken, contact us before using it.
  • Label information: you should see the nicotine strength, ingredients, health warning and batch details printed on the bottle or box.
  • Nozzle: the tip should be clean and unblocked, with liquid flowing steadily when you squeeze gently.

The plastic is soft enough to squeeze but sturdy enough to survive being carried in a bag. As with any plastic bottle, keep it upright and away from heat. Prolonged exposure to sunlight, a hot car glove box or a radiator can darken the liquid and slightly alter the taste over time.

Because the bottle is made of plastic, it is worth wiping the nozzle after each fill. Residue left on the tip can attract dust and, over weeks, make the bottle sticky. It is also good practice to keep the bottle out of reach of children and pets at all times, since nicotine is toxic if swallowed or absorbed through the skin in quantity.

When the bottle is empty, check your local council's guidance on recycling small plastic containers. Many authorities accept rinsed plastic bottles in household recycling, but the rules vary by area. Devices, batteries and charging cables belong in a different stream altogether, and we cover that in the device section below.

Choosing a device: battery and charging considerations

A bottle of e-liquid has no battery of its own, so the battery and charging experience comes entirely from the device you pair it with. Getting this pairing right makes a bigger difference to how Cuban Creme tastes than most people expect.

For a 20mg nic salt, look for a pod kit or mouth-to-lung device with these traits:

  • Battery capacity: a pod kit with roughly 400mAh to 1000mAh will give a full day of light to moderate use. Smaller pen-style batteries around 400mAh are portable but may need a top-up by evening.
  • Power range: something that runs comfortably at around 8W to 20W is ideal. High-wattage sub-ohm devices are poorly suited to this liquid.
  • Charging port: USB-C is now standard on most current kits and charges faster and more reliably than older micro-USB ports.
  • Safety features: short-circuit, over-charge and low-voltage protection should all be present on any reputable device.

When charging, use a plug or computer port rated for the device and avoid leaving it on charge overnight on a soft surface such as a bed or sofa. Unplug when it reaches full charge, and never charge a device that is swollen, hot or visibly damaged. Lithium batteries are safe when treated properly, but they do not forgive carelessness.

Battery state also affects flavour. As the charge drops, many devices deliver slightly less power, which can make the tobacco taste thinner and the cream more prominent. If Cuban Creme suddenly seems weaker mid-afternoon, a quick top-up often restores it before you assume the liquid is at fault.

For disposal, vape devices and batteries are covered by the UK's waste electrical equipment rules. Do not put them in household bins or standard recycling. Take them to a drop-off point such as a local recycling centre, or to a retailer that offers vape recycling, so the lithium cells can be handled safely.

Coil and pod technology that suits this liquid

The coil is where the liquid is turned into vapour, so it has an outsized effect on flavour and longevity. Nicotine salts are generally designed for higher-resistance coils that run at lower power.

A sensible target for Cuban Creme is a coil between about 0.8 and 1.2 ohms, used in a mouth-to-lung style pod. These coils heat quickly, use less liquid and keep the throat hit in a comfortable range. The most common types you will encounter are:

  • Standard resistance wire coils: simple, widely available and cheap to replace. They give a clean flavour and work well with creamy tobacco blends.
  • Mesh coils: a flat mesh surface spreads heat evenly, which can improve flavour consistency. They are sometimes sold at lower resistances, so check that the rated wattage matches what a nic salt needs.
  • Ceramic-style coils: these tend to be slow to heat but long-lived, and can taste a little muted with subtle flavours.

Avoid sub-ohm coils below roughly 0.6 ohms with this liquid. Combined with a 20mg salt, they deliver far too much nicotine per puff and burn through a bottle at an alarming rate. They can also cause a harsh, hot vape.

Coil care matters with sweet and creamy liquids in particular, because sugars and flavouring compounds build up on the heating element over time. A fresh coil tastes clean and full. A tired coil tastes burnt, flat or oddly bitter. As a general rule, replace the coil or pod every one to two weeks, or sooner if you vape heavily. If you switch from a sweet liquid to a tobacco one, it is better to fit a new coil than to expect the old one to forget its previous flavour.

Always prime a new coil before use. Fill the pod, wait five to ten minutes so the cotton can soak up liquid, and take a couple of gentle draws without pressing fire at first. Dry-firing a coil is the quickest way to produce a burnt taste that will ruin the bottle's flavour for you.

Nicotine strength guidance: is 20mg right for you?

Strength is the single biggest decision when buying nicotine salt e-liquid, and it is worth getting right. This bottle is 20mg/ml, the top of the UK range. That is not automatically the correct option for everyone.

As a rough guide for adult smokers:

  • Heavy smokers (around 15 or more cigarettes a day): 20mg is commonly where people start, because it gives enough nicotine per puff to keep cravings away without needing to vape constantly.
  • Moderate smokers (around 8 to 15 a day): 20mg may work, but some people find 10mg to 12mg more comfortable. If you find yourself taking small, frequent puffs, you may be better suited to the lower end.
  • Light smokers or occasional vapers: 20mg is often too strong. A 10mg or lower strength is usually a better starting point.
  • Non-smokers: nicotine e-liquids are not intended for you at all. Do not start vaping nicotine if you do not already use it.

Signs that you may be on too high a strength include nausea, headaches, a racing pulse, sweating and a sore throat that does not ease. If that sounds familiar, move down a strength and see whether you feel more settled. Signs that you may be too low include constant cravings, chain vaping and still reaching for cigarettes in stressful moments.

Your device matters as well. Because salts are designed for low power, the same 20mg liquid will feel stronger in a high-output kit than in a modest pod system. Many people who find 20mg too much in one device are perfectly comfortable in another.

If you want to reduce nicotine over time, a sensible approach is to step down gradually, for example from 20mg to 12mg and then to 6mg, over weeks or months, rather than cutting abruptly. A lower-strength sibling of this liquid is available in some Pod Salt Origin flavours, so check the full range if you plan to taper. This is general information rather than medical advice, and your GP or local stop smoking service can offer tailored support if you want it.

Who Cuban Creme is for, and who should look elsewhere

Every flavour has a natural audience. Cuban Creme is best understood as a transition liquid for adult smokers who want something that resembles tobacco without the harshness, and who like a hint of sweetness to round it out.

It is likely to suit you if:

  • You are an adult smoker moving to vaping and want a tobacco flavour that feels familiar.
  • You find straight tobacco liquids too dry or sharp and prefer something creamier.
  • You use a refillable pod kit or a low-power device rather than a sub-ohm tank.
  • You smoke heavily enough that 20mg/ml is appropriate.
  • You want a discreet, low-cloud vape that does not draw attention.

You may want to look elsewhere if:

  • You dislike sweet flavours. Even though the cream is subtle, anyone who wants a dry, unsweetened tobacco will probably prefer a classic leaf or Virginia blend.
  • You want menthol, fruit or ice. This is a warm, tobacco-led profile with no cooling element.
  • You are a light smoker or lapsed smoker. 20mg is likely to be too strong, and a lower strength would be more comfortable.
  • You use a high-wattage sub-ohm device. A 20mg salt in that setting is a poor match and can be unpleasant.
  • You have never smoked or used nicotine. Nicotine is addictive, and vaping is meant as an alternative for existing smokers, not a starting point.
  • You are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding. Speak to a healthcare professional before using any nicotine product.

It is also worth being clear that vaping is not risk-free. It is widely regarded by UK public health bodies as considerably less harmful than smoking for adults who switch completely, but it still delivers nicotine and is not recommended for anyone who does not currently smoke.

How to fill and use your Pod Salt Origin e-liquid

Filling a pod is straightforward, but a little care prevents leaks, flooded coils and wasted liquid. Follow these steps with a fresh bottle and a compatible refillable pod.

  • Check your hands and workspace. Wash and dry your hands, and work over a tissue or small tray so spills are easy to wipe.
  • Switch the device off. Remove the pod from the battery before filling, so you cannot accidentally fire it.
  • Open the fill port. Most pods have a silicone bung or sliding cover. Lift or slide it clear.
  • Open the bottle. Press down on the child-resistant cap and turn it, then place the nozzle in the fill port at a slight angle.
  • Fill slowly. Squeeze gently and stop at the max line, or just below it. Overfilling is the most common cause of leaking and gurgling.
  • Close everything up. Seal the port, re-cap the bottle firmly and wipe any liquid from the outside of the pod.
  • Let it soak. Wait around five to ten minutes before the first puff so the coil cotton is fully saturated.

When vaping, take slow, steady draws of two to three seconds, then pause for 20 to 30 seconds between puffs. This keeps the coil from overheating and helps the cotton re-wick. If your device has adjustable power, begin at the lower end and increase only if you want a warmer, fuller vapour.

Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place, with the cap tightly closed and well out of reach of children and pets. Nic salts do not usually need steeping, so you can use a bottle straight away, though some people notice the flavour rounds out slightly after a day or two.

If you carry spare liquid, keep the bottle in a sealed bag or pouch. Changes in air pressure on flights or at altitude can cause small bottles to weep, and a bag will contain it.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most issues with refillable pods come down to filling, priming or coil condition rather than a faulty e-liquid. Before you decide a bottle is at fault, run through these checks.

  • Burnt or acrid taste: usually a dry or worn coil. Replace the coil or pod, prime it properly and avoid chain vaping, which does not give the cotton time to re-wick.
  • Weak or muted flavour: check the battery level, make sure the pod is not nearly empty, and consider whether your taste buds are fatigued. Switching to a different flavour for a short time can reset your palate.
  • Leaking: overfilling is the most common cause. Fill only to the max line, seal the port fully and keep the device upright when not in use.
  • Gurgling or spitting: a flooded coil. Remove the pod, blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear the airflow, and wipe away excess liquid.
  • Harsh throat hit: the strength may be too high or the wattage too high. Lower the power, take smaller puffs or drop to a lower nicotine strength.
  • Dizziness or nausea: you are likely taking too much nicotine too fast. Stop, rest, drink water and use a lower strength in future.
  • Liquid looks darker than it did: e-liquids naturally darken with age, heat and light. It is mostly cosmetic but is a good reason to store the bottle properly and use it within a sensible period.
  • Sticky or stuck cap: wipe the thread with a damp cloth, let it dry and try again.

If you have tried all of this and the liquid still tastes wrong, smells unusual, is cloudy or shows a broken seal on arrival, contact us with your order number and a photo of the batch details on the bottle. We will look into it and arrange a replacement or refund where appropriate.

Do not keep using a liquid that makes you feel unwell. If symptoms are severe or you suspect nicotine poisoning, seek medical help immediately. In an emergency, call 999.

Value for money and how long a 10ml bottle lasts

The honest answer to how long a bottle lasts is that it depends on you, but we can give some realistic ranges. A typical refillable pod holds around 2ml. That means a 10ml bottle will fill roughly five pods, if you fill them to the line and do not spill.

Based on typical use of a 20mg salt in a low-power pod device:

  • Light use (about 1ml a day): a bottle can last in the region of ten days.
  • Moderate use (about 2ml a day): expect around five days.
  • Heavy use (3ml or more a day): a bottle may only last three days or so, and at that point it is worth asking whether a lower strength or a larger-capacity setup would suit you better.

These are rough estimates and not guarantees. Higher power settings, weak coils and chain vaping all use liquid faster.

For comparison, a typical 2ml disposable vape is rated at around 600 puffs. By volume, a 10ml bottle holds the equivalent of about five of those, although the real-world puff count from refillables varies a lot with device and style. Per millilitre, refillable e-liquid is almost always cheaper than disposables, and it avoids throwing away a battery with each unit. The trade-off is that you need a device, spare coils or pods, and a few minutes to fill it.

When judging value, consider the total cost of use rather than just the bottle price:

  • The cost of the bottle itself, which you can compare per ml with other 10ml options.
  • The cost of replacement pods or coils, usually every one to two weeks.
  • The one-off cost of a pod kit, which pays for itself quickly compared with buying disposables.
  • Reduced waste, as you are recycling a small bottle rather than a whole device.

For a smoker who vapes regularly, a 10ml nic salt bottle in a decent pod kit is typically a cost-effective setup. Check the current price on this page, and remember that you can often save by buying multiple bottles of the same flavour if you know you will use them.

How Cuban Creme compares with other tobacco nic salts

Cuban Creme is not the only tobacco nic salt on the market, and it would be unhelpful to pretend it is the right answer for everyone. Here is a fair look at how it sits against the kinds of liquid you may also be considering.

  • Against classic or Virginia tobacco salts: straight tobacco blends are drier and more traditional. If you want the closest thing to an unflavoured leaf, a classic blend is probably better. Cuban Creme is softer and sweeter, which suits people who find classic tobaccos harsh.
  • Against other creamy tobacco liquids: many brands offer custard-tobacco or caramel-tobacco blends. Cuban Creme tends to be cigar-leaning rather than caramel-heavy, so it may feel less dessert-like than some alternatives. Taste is subjective, so it is worth trying a few if you are particular.
  • Against fruit and ice nic salts: these are lighter, cooler and often more refreshing, but they offer none of the tobacco character. If your aim is to leave cigarettes behind, some people find that a tobacco profile helps, while others find fruit flavours easier to stay with.
  • Against disposables: a disposable is convenient, requires no filling and has nothing to maintain. A refillable setup with this liquid costs less per ml, allows you to choose your strength, and produces less electronic waste, but it needs a little more effort.
  • Against freebase tobacco liquids: freebase at lower strengths such as 3mg or 6mg suits sub-ohm devices and bigger clouds. Nic salts at 20mg suit small, low-power kits. They are different tools for different hardware.

Where Cuban Creme does well is in balance. The leaf note is clear, the cream softens it without hiding it, and at a moderate wattage the hit is steady rather than aggressive. Where it is less strong is in variety. It is a one-note-family flavour, so if you tire easily of the same profile, you may want to keep a second bottle in a different style for rotation.

In short, it is a reasonable choice for adult smokers who want a smooth, creamy tobacco in a pod device. If it does not suit your palate, there are plenty of other tobacco salts to try, and swapping is cheap and low risk compared with the cost of continuing to smoke.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Best value per ml in the category
  • Choose your own device and coil
  • Available in a wide strength ladder

Cons

  • Refilling can leak if you overfill
  • Coil priming has a small learning curve
  • You handle the bottle — less discreet than pods

Customer Buying Tips

  • Match the strength to how much you smoked: 20+/day → 10-20 mg nic salt; 10/day → 10 mg; under 5/day → 3-6 mg freebase.
  • Match the ratio to your device: pod kits take 50/50, sub-ohm tanks take 70/30 shortfill.
  • Don't overfill: leaving the airhole clear prevents gurgling and leaking.
  • Shake before use so the nicotine and flavour integrate evenly.

Frequently asked questions

Which nicotine strength should I choose, 20mg or something lower?

20mg/ml suits adult smokers who get through around 15 or more cigarettes a day and use a low-power pod device. If you smoke less, or you are sensitive to nicotine, a 10mg to 12mg strength is usually more comfortable, so check the listing for lower strengths in this range. Never use nicotine if you are not already a smoker or vaper.

How do I charge it? The bottle does not seem to have a battery.

That is correct, this is an e-liquid refill and has no battery of its own. You charge the pod kit or device that you put the liquid into, usually via a USB-C cable. Unplug it when it is full, avoid charging on soft furnishings, and never charge a damaged or swollen device.

Can I use it in any vape device?

It works best in refillable pod kits and low-power mouth-to-lung devices with coils around 0.8 to 1.2 ohms. It is not suited to high-wattage sub-ohm tanks, where 20mg nicotine salt becomes harsh and uses liquid very quickly. Check your device manual for which liquid types it supports.

Are other flavours and strengths available in the Pod Salt Origin range?

Yes, Pod Salt Origin is a wider range that includes other tobacco options and different flavour families, and some are offered in lower strengths as well. Look through the Pod Salt Origin products on our site to see the current options. If you like Cuban Creme but want something lighter, you can alternate it with a fruit or menthol flavour.

How long will a 10ml bottle last?

As a rough guide, a 10ml bottle fills about five 2ml pods. Light users may stretch that to around ten days, moderate users around five days, and heavy users around three. Higher wattage and a tired coil will use it faster.

Is it good value compared with disposables?

Per millilitre, refillable e-liquid is typically cheaper than a disposable, and it creates less electronic waste. You do need a pod kit and occasional replacement coils or pods, so the saving builds up over time rather than on the first bottle. Compare the total cost across a month rather than just the bottle price.

Who should not buy this e-liquid?

It is not for anyone under 18, for non-smokers, or for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also a poor fit if you dislike sweet, creamy flavours or need a lower nicotine strength. If you have a medical condition or take regular medication, speak to your GP or pharmacist before using nicotine products.

Does it need steeping before I use it?

Nicotine salt e-liquids generally do not need steeping and can be used straight away. Some vapers feel the flavour becomes slightly rounder after a day or two, but this is optional. Always shake the bottle gently and let a freshly filled pod soak for a few minutes before vaping.

How quickly will my order arrive in the UK?

We dispatch to UK addresses, with delivery options and costs shown at checkout. Because the product contains nicotine, we ask for age confirmation and may require an adult signature on delivery. Check the delivery information page for current timeframes and any free-delivery threshold.

What if the bottle arrives damaged, leaking or faulty?

Contact us as soon as possible with your order number and photos of the bottle and packaging, and we will arrange a replacement or refund in line with your consumer rights. E-liquid is a consumable and does not carry a device warranty, but faulty, damaged or incorrect items are always covered. Please see our returns policy for the full details.
