What the Uwell Crown 1 Ohm replacement coils are

The Uwell Crown Replacement Coils 1 Ohm are consumable atomiser heads made for Uwell's Crown range of refillable tanks. Every tank wears out its coil long before the tank itself gives up. The coil is the small assembly of resistance wire and cotton wicking that actually heats your e-liquid, and over days of use it collects residue, loses its ability to wick cleanly and starts to taste flat or burnt. Swapping in a fresh head is the standard fix, and it costs far less than replacing the whole tank.

This listing is for the 1.0 ohm option. Resistance measures how much a coil resists electrical current, and it shapes almost everything about how the coil behaves: how much power it can take, how quickly it heats up, how much vapour it makes and how fast it uses your liquid. A resistance of 1.0 ohm sits right on the traditional dividing line between lower-power coils and true sub-ohm coils, which are defined as anything below 1.0 ohm. In practice that makes it a middle-of-the-road choice. It is more relaxed than a 0.2 or 0.3 ohm head, yet it gives a larger and warmer draw than the 1.2 to 1.8 ohm heads fitted to small pod kits.

Here is a quick summary of what you are getting:

  • Product type: replacement coil head, a consumable accessory (no battery, no tank and no e-liquid included)
  • Resistance: 1.0 ohm
  • Intended tank family: Uwell Crown series tanks that accept this coil head
  • Construction: resistance wire wrapped around a cotton wick, housed in a push-in or screw-in head with silicone seals
  • Typical draw style: restricted direct-to-lung or loose mouth-to-lung, depending on your airflow setting
  • Suggested e-liquid: 50/50 up to roughly 70/30 VG/PG blends, including nicotine salt liquids

Because the Crown name has been used across several tank generations, and because coil heads are generation specific, one rule matters more than any other: check that this coil matches your exact tank model before you order. The next section explains how to do that in a minute or so. Everything else in this guide assumes you have confirmed the match and are simply deciding whether 1.0 ohm is the right resistance for the way you vape.

You must be 18 or over to buy vaping products in the UK, and coils fall under that rule as vape accessories. Vaping is intended for adult smokers who want an alternative to cigarettes, and it is not recommended for non-smokers or anyone under 18.

Checking the coil fits your Crown tank

Uwell has used the Crown name for several generations of refillable tank, and coil heads are not interchangeable between all of them. A head designed for one generation can look similar to another yet differ in diameter, wicking port position, thread or the shape of the base pin. This is the most common reason people end up with a coil that will not seat properly, leaks or fires with an error message, so it is worth a short check before you buy.

Work through these checks in order:

  • Read the old coil. Unscrew the tank base, lift out the coil you are replacing and look at the printed or etched code on its collar. Uwell normally marks the resistance and the recommended wattage range there. Match what you read against the listing.
  • Check the tank packaging or manual. The box and the instruction leaflet list the coil heads the tank supports, usually with the resistance and a wattage window for each.
  • Confirm the generation. If your tank is a later Crown model, do not assume a coil from an earlier one will fit, and the same applies the other way round.
  • Compare the physical shape. Place the new coil beside the old one. Collar width, height and the layout of the wicking holes should match.

If you cannot identify your tank, do not guess. Contact the retailer with a clear photo of the tank base and the old coil and ask them to confirm. A short message is cheaper than a wasted pack, and it avoids the temptation to force a head into a tank it was never designed for.

Authenticity matters as well. Uwell is widely imitated, and counterfeit coils can have inconsistent resistance, thin wicks and poor sealing, which shows up as leaks, dry hits and short life. Buy from a UK retailer that sources stock through authorised distribution, look for sealed original packaging that carries the manufacturer's authentication label or code, and treat prices far below the normal range for genuine Uwell heads with suspicion.

Finally, never force a coil. A correct head threads or presses in with light, even resistance. If you feel it binding, back it out and re-check the match, because cross-threading can damage the seat in the tank base, and that is a far more expensive repair than a coil.

A note on capacity: refillable tanks sold in the UK are limited to 2 ml by regulation, so UK versions of many tanks arrive with a smaller glass section than overseas editions. Tank capacity does not change which coil fits, but it does affect how often you refill, which matters for the lifespan estimates later in this guide.

Performance and vapour delivery at 1.0 ohm

Performance on a coil is best judged by three things: how much vapour it produces, how it feels in the throat and chest, and how steadily it keeps going between refills. At 1.0 ohm the coil delivers a deliberately moderate version of all three.

The electrical side is simple. Power in watts equals voltage squared divided by resistance, so with a 1.0 ohm coil the numbers are easy to read. A setting of 15 W puts about 3.9 V across the coil, 20 W puts about 4.5 V and 25 W puts 5.0 V. The current through the coil is voltage divided by resistance, which gives roughly 3.9 A, 4.5 A and 5.0 A at those three settings. Compare that with a 0.2 ohm coil run at 60 W, which pushes about 17 A through the wire. Lower current is one reason a 1.0 ohm head is gentle on a device and a sensible match for modest hardware.

Vapour production scales with how much liquid the coil can turn into aerosol each second, and that depends on heating surface area and power. A 1.0 ohm head has less wire surface than a 0.2 to 0.4 ohm head and is normally run at far lower wattage, so clouds are smaller and cooler. That is the purpose of the coil rather than a limitation. Many vapers who move away from cigarettes find very large clouds more than they want, and a restrained draw is easier to live with in everyday situations.

  • Vapour volume: moderate. Noticeably more than a typical 1.2 to 1.8 ohm pod coil, clearly less than a 0.15 to 0.4 ohm sub-ohm head.
  • Draw feel: a medium-tight to medium draw when the airflow ring is partly closed, opening up to a looser lung draw when fully open.
  • Temperature: warm rather than hot at the lower end of the wattage window, because there is less power going into the wick.
  • Throat hit: firmer than a high-power sub-ohm setup at the same nicotine strength, because each puff carries more nicotine per millilitre of vapour.
  • E-liquid use: modest. You will refill less often than with a high-power sub-ohm coil.

Puff counts do not apply to a coil in the way they do for a sealed device, because a coil does not hold any liquid itself. The useful measure is how many millilitres it will vaporise before the wick wears out. Light, thin e-liquids tend to give the longest life, while heavily sweetened desserts and cream flavours shorten it. As a rough, non-precise guide, a moderate vaper using a clean, lightly sweetened liquid at sensible wattage can often get through a few tens of millilitres on a single head, with the exact figure depending on the liquid, power and vaping pattern.

Flavour profile and what the coil does to taste

A coil has no flavour of its own, but it has a large effect on how clearly the flavour in your e-liquid comes through. Three factors do most of the work: the temperature at which the wick vaporises the liquid, the quality and cleanliness of the wick, and how well the airflow carries the vapour to your mouth.

At 1.0 ohm and moderate wattage the coil runs cooler than a high-power sub-ohm head, and that has a visible benefit for taste. Delicate notes such as fresh fruit, light menthol, sparkling drinks and tobacco blends stay distinct instead of blurring together. Because vapour is warm rather than hot, sweet and creamy flavours also keep their character for longer before they begin to caramelise on the wire. Cooler vaping is also gentler on the throat, which is helpful when a flavour contains strong cooling agents.

Expect these patterns:

  • Fruit and ice flavours: clear top notes and a clean finish. The restricted draw suits a bright, defined profile.
  • Tobacco and nutty blends: a rounded, slightly warm delivery that suits the drier character of these liquids.
  • Dessert, custard and cream flavours: rich and smooth, though the high sweetener content builds up on the wick faster, so the head will need replacing sooner.
  • Menthol and mint: a crisp cooling hit without the harshness that can appear at very high power.

New coils sometimes taste faintly of cotton for the first few puffs. This is normal and clears once the wick is fully saturated, which is why priming matters. A fresh coil will usually give its cleanest flavour in the first few days, gradually lose a little definition over the following week or two, and then reach a point where the flavour turns muted or the vapour picks up a toasted edge. That change is the signal to swap.

Switching between very different flavours is where you will notice ghosting, meaning a trace of the previous liquid lingering in the wick. If you rotate between, say, a fruit blend and a strong menthol, consider keeping a spare tank or fitting a fresh head when you change family. Rinsing the tank in warm water and letting it dry fully helps, but it cannot remove flavour already absorbed into the cotton.

If flavour fades faster than you expect, check the three usual causes before blaming the coil: power set above the printed window, an overly thick e-liquid, or chain vaping that does not give the wick time to refill.

Design and build quality of the coil head

A coil head looks like a small thing, but it is a precisely built assembly, and the quality of that assembly decides whether you get a week of clean flavour or a day of leaks and dry hits. Understanding the parts also helps you inspect a coil when it arrives.

  • Outer shell or collar: a metal housing, normally stainless steel, that holds everything together and carries the code with the resistance and wattage range.
  • Wicking ports: small openings in the shell where e-liquid enters from the tank. Their size and position control how fast liquid reaches the wick, which is why thicker liquids can struggle with small ports.
  • Cotton wick: the absorbent material that carries liquid to the heating wire and keeps it from drying out.
  • Resistance wire: the heating element wrapped around or running through the wick. Its length, gauge and material set the 1.0 ohm resistance.
  • Base pin and insulator: the positive contact at the bottom of the head, separated from the shell by an insulating ring so the circuit closes only through the coil.
  • Silicone seals: small O-rings that stop liquid leaking around the head and into the airflow path or the base of the tank.

Uwell is a Shenzhen-based manufacturer that has been producing tanks and pod systems for more than a decade, and its coils are made to repeatable tolerances in factory conditions. A fresh head should read very close to its stated resistance on your device, with small variation either side. A reading that is wildly off, for example far below 1.0 ohm, suggests either a defective head, dirty contacts or a counterfeit.

When you open the pack, run through a short inspection. The wick should be intact and slightly proud of the wire housing, not frayed or missing. The shell should be round and undented. The base pin should be centred with a visible insulating ring around it. Both silicone seals should be present and seated, and there should be no loose cotton fibres or debris in the airflow channel. If anything looks wrong, do not fit the head. Contact the seller with a photo.

Handling matters too. Hold the coil by the shell, avoid touching the wick with your fingers and keep it away from dust, pocket lint and moisture until you fit it. Store spare heads in their original packaging, in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight, and they will stay in good condition until needed.

Coil technology: wire, wick and resistance

Coil technology in tanks has moved from simple wire wrapped around a rod of cotton to engineered heads with controlled wire length, specific wicking geometry and sometimes mesh heating surfaces. The 1.0 ohm head is the lower-power end of that spectrum, and understanding the three core variables helps you choose and troubleshoot with confidence.

Resistance. The 1.0 ohm figure is a function of the wire material, its thickness and its length. For a given material, a longer or thinner wire gives higher resistance and a shorter or thicker wire gives lower resistance. Higher resistance means less current for the same voltage, which means less heat and less vapour. That is why 1.0 ohm is suited to lower wattage and why running it far above its printed window quickly overheats the wick.

Wire material. Resistance wire for tanks is typically one of a small number of alloys. Kanthal is a stable iron, chromium and aluminium alloy used in plain wattage mode. Stainless steel such as SS316L works in wattage mode and also in temperature control mode on devices that support it. Nickel and titanium are used mainly for temperature control. The packaging of this product will state which wire your particular head uses, and you should follow that and the wattage range printed on the collar rather than assume. Only use temperature control if the packaging and your device both explicitly support it for that wire.

Wick and wicking geometry. Cotton is the standard wicking material because it absorbs quickly and tastes neutral once saturated. The wick has to move liquid from the ports to the wire as fast as the wire vaporises it. At 1.0 ohm and moderate power the demand is modest, which is why this resistance is forgiving of thicker liquids and slightly less careful priming than a high-power head would be.

Single coil versus mesh. Many modern sub-ohm heads use a mesh sheet rather than a wound wire, which spreads heat over a wider area and raises vapour output. A 1.0 ohm head is the opposite design philosophy: it aims for a controlled, efficient vaporisation using less power. Neither approach is better in absolute terms, they simply suit different drawing styles.

  • Dry-hit protection: keep the tank above a quarter full so the ports stay covered.
  • Overheating: stay inside the printed wattage range, which is set to match the wick's liquid feed rate.
  • Resistance drift: as residue builds on the wire, the effective resistance can shift slightly, which is one of the early signs a head is ageing.

Power, battery and charging

The coil itself contains no battery and nothing to charge, but its resistance determines how hard your battery works, so the choice of coil changes your real-world battery life. Crown tanks screw onto a 510-threaded device such as a box mod or a battery tube, so what follows applies to whichever compatible battery device you use.

Start with the wattage window printed on the coil collar or packaging. Treat the lower end as your starting point, take a few short puffs to check flavour and warmth, and increase in small steps of one or two watts only if you want more vapour. With a 1.0 ohm head the useful range is typically in the teens up to the mid-twenties of watts, but the printed range for your specific head is the authority, and you should not exceed it.

A simple energy calculation shows why this resistance is easy on batteries. A single 18650 cell rated at 3000 mAh and 3.7 V holds about 11 watt-hours. At a 20 W setting, and allowing roughly 15 per cent for conversion losses, you have somewhere in the region of 28 minutes of total firing time. With puffs of about three seconds, that is on the order of 500 puffs per full charge on paper. Run a 0.2 ohm coil at 60 W on the same cell and the same arithmetic gives only around a third of that. Real-world numbers will be lower than the calculation as cells age and some energy is lost as heat in the device, but the comparison holds.

  • Use the right cell: only use batteries that are rated for the current your device will draw, bought from a reputable seller. At 20 W a 1.0 ohm coil draws roughly 5 to 6 A from a 3.7 V cell, comfortably within most vaping-grade cells.
  • Charge safely: use the charger supplied or a dedicated external charger, never leave charging batteries unattended or overnight, and stop using any cell with damaged wrap or unusual heat.
  • Do not mix cells: in multi-battery devices use matched cells of the same make, age and charge level.
  • Carry batteries safely: use a plastic case rather than loose in a pocket with keys or coins.
  • Check device limits: confirm your device's minimum resistance and wattage range include a 1.0 ohm coil. Almost all do, but it is worth confirming for older or unusual devices.

Used batteries should never go in household waste or recycling bins. In the UK you can take them to the battery collection points at most large supermarkets, local authority household waste recycling centres and many electrical retailers.

Nicotine strength guidance for a 1.0 ohm coil

In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml and sold in bottles of up to 10 ml, which is the same 20 mg/ml limit that applied to disposable vapes before they were banned. Because a 1.0 ohm coil produces less vapour per puff than a sub-ohm head, it generally suits mid-range nicotine strengths rather than the very low levels used with high-power setups. The right level for you depends on how much you smoked or vaped before, which type of nicotine your liquid uses, and your power setting.

Nicotine comes in two broad forms. Freebase nicotine is the traditional type, with a firmer throat hit that becomes harsh at higher strengths. Nicotine salt liquids are smoother at the same milligram strength, which is why they are usually sold at 10 to 20 mg/ml, and they are popular with lower-power coils like this one.

These are general starting points, not medical advice:

  • Heavy smokers, roughly 15 or more cigarettes a day, switching fully: nicotine salt at 10 to 20 mg/ml, or freebase at 6 to 12 mg/ml if you prefer a firmer hit.
  • Moderate smokers, or those already vaping and wanting to step down: nicotine salt at 5 to 10 mg/ml, or freebase at 3 to 6 mg/ml.
  • Light smokers or social vapers: freebase at 3 mg/ml or less, or nicotine salt at 5 mg/ml.
  • Reducing towards zero: step down gradually, for example from 6 mg to 3 mg to 0 mg, over several weeks.

Wattage and nicotine interact. The more power you apply, the more vapour you inhale per puff and the more nicotine you take in. If you raise the wattage on this coil, drop the nicotine strength accordingly. If you find yourself feeling dizzy, nauseous, shaky or with a pounding heart, you are taking in more nicotine than you need, so lower the strength or take fewer and shorter puffs.

Avoid pairing a 1.0 ohm coil with a very high-VG, very thick liquid at low power, because it may wick poorly and taste muted. Liquids from 50/50 up to about 70/30 VG/PG usually behave well on this resistance.

Nicotine is addictive, and vaping is meant for adults who smoke or already use nicotine. If you do not currently use nicotine you should not start. If you want help quitting entirely, free local stop-smoking services across the UK can offer support and advice alongside vaping.

Who these coils suit, and who should look elsewhere

A coil is a tool, and a resistance of 1.0 ohm suits some vapers much better than others. Knowing where you fit saves you buying the wrong pack.

These coils are a good fit if you:

  • own a compatible Uwell Crown tank and want a more restrained, efficient setup than a high-power sub-ohm head provides
  • are an adult smoker who has found that very large, hot clouds feel like too much, yet small pod devices feel too tight
  • use nicotine salt or mid-strength freebase e-liquid and want a firm but not harsh throat hit
  • want longer battery life and lower e-liquid consumption from a tank-and-mod setup
  • run a lower-wattage device where a coil with sub-0.5 ohm resistance would be inappropriate
  • enjoy distinct, clear flavours and use lighter fruit, menthol or tobacco liquids

Look elsewhere if you:

  • want large, dense clouds and a loose lung draw. A lower resistance sub-ohm coil designed for your tank will serve you better.
  • want the tightest possible mouth-to-lung draw similar to a cigarette. A coil in the 1.2 to 1.8 ohm range, or a dedicated pod system, will be closer to that.
  • do not own a Crown tank that accepts this head. Check compatibility first, because coils are not interchangeable across brands.
  • are under 18, or have never smoked or used nicotine. Vaping is not for you.
  • mainly vape very thick, high-VG liquids at low power. These can starve small wicking ports and may work better with a lower-resistance head built for thicker liquids.

It is also worth being honest about trade-offs. A 1.0 ohm coil will not give you the large clouds that dominate online reviews of sub-ohm tanks. That is a design choice, and it brings real benefits in battery life, e-liquid economy and flavour clarity, but you should buy it because you want those benefits and not because you hope it will behave like a different type of coil.

If you are currently using disposables and want a longer-term alternative, note that single-use vapes have been prohibited for sale in the UK since 1 June 2025. A refillable tank with replaceable coils is a widely used replacement route and produces far less waste, provided you recycle spent coils and batteries properly.

How to fit, prime and use the coil

Fitting a coil correctly takes about five minutes and makes a large difference to how long it lasts. Take your time over the priming step in particular, because most early coil failures come from rushing it.

Follow these steps in order:

  • Step 1, power down. Switch the device off or unscrew the tank from it. Fitting a coil on a live device risks accidental firing.
  • Step 2, open the tank. Unscrew the base of the tank as shown in your model's manual, then remove the old coil by unscrewing or pulling it out, depending on the design. Tip out any leftover e-liquid and wipe away residue.
  • Step 3, clean and dry. Rinse the tank sections and base in warm water, dry them with a lint-free cloth and let them air-dry for a few minutes. Water left in the airflow path causes gurgling and spitting.
  • Step 4, inspect the new head. Check the wick, seals and base pin as described earlier in this guide.
  • Step 5, seat the coil. Push or screw the head in until it is snug. Snug means finger tight with no wobble, not forced.
  • Step 6, prime. Add three or four drops of e-liquid directly onto each wicking port, then fill the tank carefully, keeping the liquid away from the central airflow tube. Close the fill port.
  • Step 7, wait. Stand the tank upright for five to ten minutes so the cotton saturates fully. Skipping this step is the single most common cause of a burnt first taste.
  • Step 8, start low. Fit the tank to the device, set the wattage at the lower end of the printed range and take several short puffs without inhaling, simply to draw liquid through the wick. Then vape normally and raise the power in 1 W steps if you want more output.

Good habits after that will extend the life of the head. Keep the tank above a quarter full. Leave twenty to thirty seconds between long strings of puffs so the wick can recover. Use e-liquids in the 50/50 to 70/30 VG/PG range. Never fire the coil without liquid in the tank, and keep the threads and contacts clean with a dry cotton bud once a week. When flavour turns muted or toasted, replace the head rather than trying to push another day out of it.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most coil problems are straightforward to diagnose if you know what to look for. Work through the cause that matches your symptom before deciding the head is faulty.

  • Burnt or toasted taste. Usually caused by an unprimed new coil, power set above the printed range, a tank running low or a wick clogged with sweetener residue. Check the liquid level and lower the wattage. If the taste persists with a full tank at sensible power, the head has reached the end of its life and needs replacing.
  • Dry hit. A sharp, hot, papery puff means the wick is not getting enough liquid. Causes include chain vaping, liquid that is too thick for the wicking ports, a tank that is nearly empty or airflow set so tight that liquid is not drawn through. Pause, let the wick refill, check the tank level and reduce the power.
  • Leaking from the base or airflow holes. Check that the head is seated fully, that both silicone seals are present and undamaged, that the tank is screwed together properly and that there is no cracked glass. Overfilling and changing altitude, for example on a flight, can also push liquid out. Fill below the maximum line.
  • Gurgling or spitting. Usually condensation or excess liquid in the airflow path. Blow gently through the drip tip or mouthpiece, wipe the inside with a tissue, and consider a slightly lower wattage. If it keeps happening, check the seals.
  • Weak flavour from a new coil. Give it a few minutes longer to prime, then check the power is within the printed window. Very thick liquids may also reduce flavour on a small-port head.
  • Check atomiser or no atomiser message. Unscrew and refit the tank, wipe the contacts on the head and the device with a dry cotton bud and make sure the head is seated fully. If the message remains, try the coil in another compatible tank or test the tank on another device to see whether the fault is in the coil, tank or device.
  • Resistance reads wrong. A small variation from 1.0 ohm is normal. A large deviation means the coil is not seated properly, the contacts are dirty or the head is defective or counterfeit.
  • Hissing or crackling. Often a sign of too much liquid pooling around the coil or a head near the end of its life. Clear the airflow, reduce power and replace the head if it continues.
  • Flooding after fitting. Normally caused by overfilling during priming or a damaged seal. Dry the airflow path, remove the head, inspect the seals and refit.

If you have worked through these steps and the head still behaves badly, stop using it, keep the packaging and contact the retailer promptly with a clear description and photographs. A genuinely faulty coil is usually obvious, and a sealed pack from a reputable seller should be straightforward to resolve.

Never ignore a hot battery, a swollen cell or a device that behaves strangely. Remove the battery safely and stop using the device until the fault is understood.

Value for money, lifespan and how it compares

Coils are a running cost, so value comes down to how long each head lasts and how much it improves your daily experience. A head that costs a little more but gives clean flavour for two weeks is better value than a cheaper one that tastes burnt after four days. The 1.0 ohm resistance helps on both counts because moderate power means less heat stress on the wick.

As a rule of thumb, most heads last between one and three weeks for a daily vaper. The result depends on the following:

  • E-liquid sweetness: dessert, candy and cream flavours leave residue that shortens life.
  • Wattage: staying near the lower end of the printed range extends life noticeably.
  • Puff pattern: short, spaced puffs are kinder to the wick than long chain-vaping sessions.
  • Liquid thickness: thinner, more balanced VG/PG ratios feed the wick more reliably.
  • Keeping the tank filled: frequent low-liquid use accelerates burnt wicks.

To judge the real cost, divide the pack price by the number of heads in the pack and by the weeks each head lasts. If you get two weeks from each of several heads in a pack, one pack covers a couple of months, and the weekly cost works out as a small fraction of what most vapers spend on e-liquid.

How it compares with the alternatives:

  • Lower resistance sub-ohm heads for the same tank: more vapour and a looser draw, but higher wattage, faster battery drain, quicker liquid use and a hotter profile. Choose them if cloud size is your priority.
  • Pod-system coils from other brands: many pod systems use coils somewhere between about 0.6 and 1.8 ohm. They suit compact, low-power devices but are not compatible with a Crown tank, and you would need to buy a different device.
  • Third-party compatible coils: sometimes cheaper, but resistance consistency, wicking quality and sealing vary. For a branded tank, genuine Uwell heads are the lower-risk option.
  • Replacing the tank: far costlier than fitting a new head, and usually unnecessary unless the glass, threads or seals are damaged.

UK buying, delivery and recycling. Orders are verified for age at purchase, and delivery across the UK mainland is available, with timings and any free-delivery threshold shown at checkout. If you need to return an unopened, sealed pack, your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations normally give you 14 days to cancel a distance sale, though sealed hygiene-sensitive goods that have been opened may not be returnable. Faulty goods are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

When a head is spent, treat it as small electrical and metal waste. Many local authority household waste recycling centres accept small electricals and vape items, and some retailers offer take-back, so ask whether coil heads are accepted. Spent coils carry nicotine residue, so keep them away from children and pets until they are disposed of properly, and never put used batteries in household bins.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I use with a 1.0 ohm coil?

Because a 1.0 ohm coil produces moderate vapour, mid-range strengths usually suit best. Typical starting points are 10 to 20 mg/ml for nicotine salts or 6 to 12 mg/ml for freebase if you are a regular smoker, and lower if you smoke less. UK e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml, so you cannot go higher than that, and you should reduce the strength if you raise the wattage.

Do these coils need charging, and how do I charge my device safely?

The coil has no battery and does not need charging. Your battery or device does, so use the supplied cable or a dedicated charger, never leave it charging unattended or overnight, and stop using any cell with damaged wrap or unusual heat. At around 20 W a 1.0 ohm coil is easy on batteries, so you should see longer life per charge than with a low-ohm head.

Can I swap flavours, or do I need a different coil for each liquid?

You can swap flavours with the same coil, but a wick absorbs flavour, so a trace of the old liquid can linger. If you move between very different families, such as fruit to strong menthol, you may want to fit a fresh head or keep a spare tank. Rinse the tank and let it dry fully whenever you switch.

How long will one coil last?

Most heads last between one and three weeks of daily use, with sweet dessert liquids and high wattage shortening that. When flavour turns muted or the vapour tastes toasted, replace the head rather than waiting for it to fail. Staying at the lower end of the printed wattage range helps it last longer.

Is this good value compared with buying a new tank?

Yes. A replacement coil costs far less than a new tank, and a tank in good condition only needs a fresh head every couple of weeks. Divide the pack price by the number of heads and the weeks each lasts to see your weekly cost, which is usually small compared with e-liquid spend.

Who should and shouldn't buy these coils?

They suit adult smokers or existing vapers with a compatible Uwell Crown tank who want a restrained, efficient draw with clear flavour. They are not the right choice if you want large clouds, which need a lower resistance, or an ultra-tight cigarette-style draw, which needs a higher resistance. They are not for under-18s or people who do not already use nicotine.

Will this coil fit my Uwell tank?

Crown coil heads are generation specific, so check the code on your old coil, the tank manual or the packaging before ordering. If you are unsure, send the retailer a photo of your tank base and old coil and ask them to confirm the match. Never force a head that does not seat easily.

What wattage should I use?

Use the wattage range printed on the coil collar or packaging, and start at the lower end. For a 1.0 ohm head this is typically in the teens up to the mid-twenties of watts, but the printed range for your specific head is the authority. Increase in 1 W steps and stop if the taste turns hot or toasted.

Do you deliver across the UK?

Yes, delivery is available across the UK mainland and an age check is carried out at purchase because vaping products are for adults aged 18 and over. Delivery options, timings and any free-delivery threshold are shown at checkout. Coils are small and light, so they are normally sent quickly in discreet packaging.

What if the coil is faulty, or I need to return it?

If a coil arrives faulty, keep the packaging and contact the retailer promptly with a description and photographs, as faulty goods are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance sale, but opened hygiene-sensitive items may not be eligible, so check the returns page for details.
