VooPoo Argus P2 Pod Kit overview

The VooPoo Argus P2 Pod Kit is a refillable, rechargeable pod system from Voopoo, the Shenzhen manufacturer behind the Drag mod series and the PnP coil platform. The Argus range sits at the compact, pocket-friendly end of Voopoo's catalogue, and the P2 follows the same brief as its siblings: a slim body, a pod you fill yourself, a built-in battery large enough for a full day of ordinary use, and controls simple enough that you do not need to read a manual before your first puff.

This page is a long, practical guide rather than a sales pitch. It covers what the kit is, how it performs, which e-liquids suit it, how to set it up, what tends to go wrong and how to fix it, and how it compares with other pod kits at a similar price. If you are moving on from disposables, switching from another refillable device, or buying your first kit as an aid to stopping smoking, the aim is that you finish reading with a clear idea of whether the Argus P2 fits your habits.

A quick summary of the kit before the detail:

  • Format: refillable pod kit with a built-in rechargeable battery, so there are no loose cells to buy, charge separately or carry around.
  • Pod capacity: in the region of 2ml, which is the maximum size permitted for a refillable tank or pod sold in the UK.
  • Battery: approximately 1,100mAh, charged over USB-C.
  • Coil: a replaceable coil head that sits inside the pod, so a worn coil means a cheap swap rather than a new device.
  • Controls: deliberately minimal, built around an inhale-and-go experience for everyday use.
  • Typical user: an adult smoker or ex-smoker who wants something more economical and more flexible than a disposable, without learning a full mod setup.

Specifications vary slightly between production batches and regional versions, so treat the figures on this page as the working range and check the specification table on the product listing for the exact numbers on the unit you are buying.

One note on who vaping is for. Nicotine products are sold only to adults aged 18 and over, and vaping exists in the UK as a way for people who already smoke to move to something less harmful. If you do not smoke, you do not need to start, and nothing in this guide is a reason to.

What comes in the box and how the nine variants work

The Argus P2 listing groups nine variants under one product. On a hardware kit these are colourways and finishes of the same device, not different e-liquid flavours, so the internals, the battery and the pod are the same whichever you choose. Use the selector on this page to see which finishes are currently in stock. If you are buying more than one kit, for a partner or as a spare for the car, picking two different colours saves arguments over whose is whose.

A pod kit of this type normally ships with the following:

  • the Argus P2 device with the battery built in;
  • a refillable pod, usually with the coil head already installed;
  • a USB-C charging cable;
  • printed instructions, safety guidance and warranty information;
  • in some cases a spare pod or coil, which the listing will say if so.

E-liquid is not included. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is sold separately in bottles of up to 10ml, and the kit will not do anything until you buy a bottle and fill the pod. If you are new to refillables, order your first bottle at the same time as the kit so you can start the day it arrives.

When the parcel arrives, take a minute to check the device. Look for dents or scratches on the body, make sure the pod seats firmly with no wobble, and check that the charging port is clean and undamaged. Keep the packaging and the order confirmation until you are sure everything works, because the quickest way to resolve a fault is to be able to quote your order number and describe what you saw on first use.

A word on spare parts. Voopoo makes several different pod formats across its range, and a pod from another Argus model or from a different Voopoo family is not guaranteed to fit. Before you buy spares, match the pod to the device by name and read the compatibility line on the pod listing. If in doubt, ask before you order rather than after.

Design and build quality

The Argus range is built around portability, and the P2 keeps that character. The body is a slim, rounded rectangle that fits into a jeans pocket or a small bag without a bulge, and the weight is low enough that you will not feel it hanging off a lanyard or sitting in a jacket. For a device that holds a 1,100mAh class battery, it is compact, which is the main reason people choose this form factor over a bigger box mod.

Voopoo generally uses a zinc alloy shell with a painted or coated finish on this class of device, and the nine variants reflect different colour and surface treatments. As with any coated pocket device, the finish will pick up marks over months of use. Keys in the same pocket will scratch it, so if you care how it looks after six months, keep it in a separate compartment or a small sleeve.

A few practical points on the design:

  • Pod fit: the pod clips into the top of the device and should seat with a firm click. A pod that rocks or sits proud is either not fully inserted or has a damaged contact.
  • Fill port: the pod is filled from a port protected by a silicone bung. Silicone bungs are small and easy to lose, so open and close them over a table, not over a drain.
  • Mouthpiece: the shape is comfortable for a long session, and the pod's moulded drip tip is a standard design that most people find easy to live with.
  • Charging port: a USB-C socket on the base, which means any modern cable will work and you are not hunting for a proprietary lead.
  • Indicators: a light, or a simple status display, tells you battery state and warns of a fault, so you are not guessing.

Build quality on Voopoo kits at this level is generally solid for the money. Where cheaper pod kits tend to disappoint is loose pods, creaky shells and weak charging sockets, and the Argus family has a reasonable track record on all three. That said, a device that lives in a pocket is a device that gets knocked about. If you drop it onto a hard floor, check the pod seating and the charging port afterwards, because small cracks in a pod are a common cause of leaks that people blame on the coil.

Performance and vapour delivery

Pod kits are not rated in puffs the way disposables are, so it helps to translate. A disposable that claims a number of puffs is quoting a theoretical figure based on a fixed amount of e-liquid. A refillable pod holds about 2ml, and how many puffs you get from that depends on how hard you draw, how long each draw lasts and how much power the device is delivering. As a guide, a 2ml fill used at moderate settings will usually last somewhere in the low-to-mid hundreds of puffs, and a 10ml bottle gives you around five pod fills.

In practice, most people find that one pod fill lasts from a few hours up to most of a day, depending on how often they vape. A heavy user replacing cigarettes may refill two or three times a day, while a lighter or occasional user may only top up every day or two.

The Argus P2 is tuned towards a controlled, steady delivery rather than a huge cloud. That is a sensible choice for the people it targets. Former smokers typically want a throat hit and a draw that feels close to a cigarette, and they usually do not want an enormous mouthful of vapour that is awkward in public. The vapour is warm rather than hot when the pod is correctly primed, and the draw is smooth enough that you can vape comfortably without coughing, as long as you choose a nicotine strength that suits you.

Things that change how the kit performs:

  • E-liquid ratio: a higher-VG liquid makes more vapour and a softer throat feel, while a higher-PG liquid carries flavour more sharply and tends to be thinner, which wicks quickly in a small coil.
  • Power setting: if the device offers adjustable output, a lower setting gives cooler vapour and longer pod life, and a higher setting gives warmer vapour at the cost of battery and e-liquid.
  • Draw technique: a slow, steady draw of two to four seconds works better than short sharp pulls, especially on a restricted pod airflow.
  • Pod age: a coil that is nearly finished will taste flatter and may produce less vapour even with a full pod.

If your first impression is thin or muted, the most likely cause is not a faulty device but a coil that has not been primed, or a pod that was filled and used within a minute. Give it the full priming time described in the how-to section and judge it after that.

Flavour profile and choosing e-liquid

A pod kit has no flavour of its own. What you taste is determined by the e-liquid you fill it with and by how well the coil is performing, so the useful question is which styles of liquid work well in a compact pod of this type. The honest answer is most of them, but some suit the format better than others.

Here are seven styles that tend to do well in a small pod with a modest power range:

  • Fruit blends: strawberry, blueberry, mango, watermelon and mixed berry liquids give a clear, bright flavour even at lower wattage, and they are the most popular category among people leaving cigarettes behind.
  • Ice and menthol: a menthol or mint liquid is a straightforward choice and holds up well in a pod because the cooling agent is prominent without needing much heat.
  • Fruit with ice: blends like blue raspberry ice or watermelon ice sit between fruit and menthol and are an easy choice if you are unsure.
  • Tobacco: a light tobacco liquid helps recent ex-smokers bridge the gap, though be aware that tobacco flavours can taste a little flat in a very small coil if the liquid is a heavy dark blend.
  • Dessert and custard: richer, creamier liquids work, but they are thicker and more demanding on a small coil, so expect a shorter coil life.
  • Soda and cola: sweet, fizzy-style liquids are bright and usually well behaved in a pod.
  • Sweet and candy: sugary liquids taste good but tend to gunk up a coil faster because of the sweeteners, so budget for a slightly shorter coil life.

Switching between flavours is easy but not entirely clean. If you move from a strong menthol to a fruit liquid, the coil will hold some of the previous taste, and it is often kinder to your taste buds to swap the coil, or at least the pod, when you change style. If you like to rotate several flavours, keeping a spare pod for each family, such as one for fruit and one for menthol, avoids ghosting between them.

Choosing between nic salt and freebase liquid also affects flavour. Nic salt liquids have a smoother throat hit at higher strengths and are the usual choice in pods like this. Freebase liquids can be harsher above 6mg, so most people with a pod kit reach for salts. The next sections cover nicotine strength in more detail.

Coil and pod technology

The coil is the part that heats the liquid, and it is the single biggest influence on flavour, vapour and how often you spend money on consumables. Voopoo has built a strong reputation on its coil platforms, and the Argus P2 inherits a replaceable-coil design where the coil head sits in or on the pod, so you are never throwing the whole device away because a coil has worn out.

What matters when you look at the coil:

  • Resistance: lower resistance coils draw more power, produce more vapour and a looser draw, and suit lower-strength liquid. Higher resistance coils give a tighter, cigarette-like draw and suit higher-strength nic salt.
  • Construction: Voopoo coils in this class are typically a mesh or a cotton-wicked wire arrangement. Mesh gives a larger heating surface, which spreads heat evenly and tends to give consistent flavour from the first puff to the last.
  • Coil codes: the code printed on the coil or its packaging tells you the resistance and the compatible family. Always read the code from the old coil before ordering spares, because several coils look alike but fit different pods.

A typical coil life is somewhere between one and three weeks of regular use, and the range is wide because it depends so heavily on what you vape. Sweet, dessert-style liquids shorten life, while fruit, ice and tobacco liquids tend to last longer. Running the device at its top output all the time also wears the coil faster.

Signs a coil is on its way out:

  • the flavour fades or turns slightly burnt, even with a freshly filled pod;
  • vapour is thinner than it was a week ago;
  • you get a scratchy or dry throat feel;
  • there is a faint gurgle or crackle that was not there before.

Replace the coil at the first of these signs rather than pushing on for another day. A burnt coil does not harm the device, but it makes every puff unpleasant, and many people mistake a worn coil for a poor-tasting liquid.

To get the most from a new coil, prime it properly, avoid dry-firing it, and do not let the pod run empty before refilling. Most early coil failures are caused by vaping on an almost empty pod, so refill when the liquid level drops to roughly a quarter of the window.

Battery, charging and safe disposal

The Argus P2 has a built-in battery in the region of 1,100mAh, which is a sensible size for a compact pod kit. It is large enough to cover a typical day for many users, and small enough to keep the body slim. As with every rechargeable device, the real-world result depends on your power setting and how often you vape, not just the capacity number on the box.

As a rough guide:

  • Light user: one or two days between charges.
  • Average user: a full day, charging overnight.
  • Heavy user or high power settings: may need a top-up during the day.

Charging is over USB-C, and a typical full charge takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half using a standard 5V charger. A phone charger of normal output is fine. Use a reputable charger and cable, and avoid unbranded fast chargers of unknown quality, because the battery is built in and you cannot swap it if it is damaged.

A few simple habits keep the battery healthy and safe:

  • Do not leave it charging unattended for long periods, and do not charge it under a pillow, on a bed or on a sofa.
  • Do not charge a device that is hot, wet or visibly damaged.
  • Do not carry it loose in a pocket with coins or keys, since contact with metal can short the charging contacts.
  • Avoid leaving it in a hot car or in direct sun, since heat degrades lithium cells quickly.
  • If the casing swells, the device smells of burning, or it becomes unusually hot while charging, unplug it and stop using it.

Because the battery is built in, disposing of the kit properly matters. Vapes and their batteries must not go into household bins or kerbside recycling, because crushed lithium cells in a refuse lorry are a genuine fire risk. In the UK, retailers that sell vapes are expected to take back old ones, and many local household recycling centres have a dedicated small electricals bin. You can also use a council drop-off point for waste electricals. Tip any remaining e-liquid into the pod before taking the kit in, and keep the lithium cell intact rather than trying to open the device.

The 2025 ban on single-use disposable vapes in the UK has made refillable kits like this the normal route, and part of the logic is that one device lasting a year or more produces far less waste than a pile of throwaways.

Nicotine strength guidance

In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml, and that limit applies across the market, so you will not find stronger liquid on sale legitimately. You will see strengths shown as milligrams per millilitre, and sometimes as a percentage, where 20mg/ml is 2 percent. Bottles are limited to 10ml, which is why a kit like this is designed around frequent small refills.

Choosing a strength is the part that most new vapers get wrong, and the usual mistake is going too low. A liquid that does not satisfy your craving makes you vape more, and you end up taking more total nicotine than if you had started at the right level. The reverse mistake, going too high, causes light-headedness, nausea and a harsh throat.

A rough starting guide, based on how much you smoke:

  • Heavy smokers, more than 15 cigarettes a day: 18mg to 20mg nic salt is the usual starting point, with a tighter draw.
  • Moderate smokers, 10 to 15 a day: 10mg to 18mg nic salt.
  • Light smokers, fewer than 10 a day: 5mg to 10mg nic salt.
  • Occasional or social smokers, and people stepping down: 3mg to 6mg freebase or a low-strength nic salt.

These are starting points, not rules. Pay attention to how you feel after a session. If you get a headache, a hot throat or a slight dizziness, drop down a step. If you finish a pod quickly and still feel the urge to smoke, go up a step.

Power and coil also matter. A higher-resistance coil at lower output suits higher-strength nic salt, because you take smaller, tighter puffs and get nicotine efficiently. A low-resistance coil at higher output produces more vapour per puff, so a lower strength is more comfortable. Matching the two is more important than the number on the bottle.

Many vapers reduce their strength over months once they are no longer smoking, and a refillable kit makes that straightforward because you simply change the bottle. If you are using the kit to quit, the NHS and local stop smoking services can provide advice and support alongside vaping, and combining the two tends to give better results than either alone.

Who the Argus P2 suits, and who should skip it

No pod kit suits everyone, and the honest answer to who should buy this one is clearer when you look at both sides.

The Argus P2 suits:

  • Smokers and recent ex-smokers who want a small, simple device that feels like a lighter or a pen in the hand and delivers nicotine reliably.
  • People leaving disposables who want to spend less per week. A refillable setup typically costs a fraction of the same period's disposables, and you choose your own liquid.
  • Anyone who values portability and wants a device that disappears into a pocket.
  • Beginners who want to avoid adjustable wattage dials, coil building, airflow tuning and anything that needs a tutorial.
  • People who like to switch flavours, since refillable pods make that easy.

You may want to skip it if:

  • You want huge clouds. This is a pod kit, not a sub-ohm or box mod, and it is not tuned for large vapour production.
  • You vape very heavily all day. A 2ml pod and a battery of this size will mean frequent refills and a mid-day top-up.
  • You want full control. If you like adjusting airflow, swapping tanks and tinkering, a larger kit gives more freedom.
  • You dislike refilling. If you want zero maintenance, you will find a refillable kit a chore compared with a prefilled option, although prefilled pod systems are still sold in the UK.
  • You do not smoke. Vaping is not recommended for people who have never smoked, and it should never be used by anyone under 18.

Pregnant women, people with heart conditions and anyone on medication that may interact with nicotine should speak to a GP or pharmacist before using any nicotine product. The same goes for anyone who experiences chest tightness or an irregular heartbeat after vaping.

If you are on the fence, the practical test is simple. Ask yourself whether you want a device you can carry daily with minimal fuss, and whether you are happy to fill a pod and swap a coil now and again. If both answers are yes, the Argus P2 is a reasonable fit.

How to set up and use the Argus P2

Setting up a refillable pod takes a few minutes, and getting the first fill right prevents most of the problems people write to support about. Follow the steps in order.

  • Step 1, charge first. Plug the kit into a USB-C charger for a short time before the first use, so the battery is not close to empty on day one.
  • Step 2, remove the pod. Pull the pod out of the device. Never fill the pod while it is attached.
  • Step 3, open the fill port. Lift or peel back the silicone bung, taking care not to lose it.
  • Step 4, fill with e-liquid. Tilt the bottle and fill slowly along the side of the port, stopping a few millimetres below the maximum line. Do not fill to the brim, and keep liquid away from the central air tube.
  • Step 5, close the port. Press the bung firmly back into place so it sits flush.
  • Step 6, prime the coil. Wait five to ten minutes so the cotton soaks fully. This is the single most important step. A dry coil burns on the first puff, and a burnt coil cannot be repaired.
  • Step 7, reinsert the pod. Push it in until it clicks.
  • Step 8, take a few gentle priming draws. Without firing, or with the shortest possible draws, pull the liquid through for a few seconds, then start vaping normally.

To use the device, follow the instructions in the pack for turning it on. Many compact pod kits are activated by a fast multiple press of the button, and some fire automatically when you inhale. If the kit offers more than one output, the pack will show how to cycle through them.

Good habits once you are up and running:

  • Refill when the liquid drops to about a quarter of the pod, not when it is dry.
  • Wipe the mouthpiece and the pod contacts with a dry tissue now and then.
  • Keep the device upright when you can, since lying flat with a full pod can cause seepage.
  • Change the coil when the flavour fades, not when it burns.
  • Store it away from children and pets, and keep e-liquid bottles with child-resistant caps closed and out of reach.

Nicotine e-liquid is toxic if swallowed and can irritate skin. If you spill it on your hands, wash with soap and water straight away.

Troubleshooting common problems

Most problems with pod kits come down to a handful of causes, and almost all of them can be fixed at home. Work through the list below before assuming the device is faulty.

  • Leaking: overfilling is the most common cause. Fill to just under the line, make sure the bung is fully seated, and check the pod for hairline cracks. Thin, high-PG liquid leaks more readily than thick liquid, and temperature or altitude changes, such as a flight, can push liquid out. Wipe the contacts dry before reinserting the pod.
  • Burnt or harsh taste: usually a coil that was not primed, a pod that ran low, or a coil at the end of its life. Replace the coil, prime it for the full time, and refill earlier next time.
  • Weak or muted flavour: a worn coil or the wrong liquid for the pod. Try a thinner liquid, or swap the coil.
  • Gurgling: excess liquid or condensation in the airflow path. Remove the pod, tap the mouthpiece against a tissue, and blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear it.
  • No vapour at all: check that the pod is fully seated, that the battery is charged, and that the contacts are clean. If it still does not fire, try a different pod or coil to isolate the fault.
  • Fault light or error indication: the pack lists what each pattern means. The usual causes are a short circuit, low resistance, or a pod that is not making contact.
  • Device does not charge: try another cable and another charger, and check the USB-C port for lint. A pocket-bound port collects debris, and a wooden toothpick can lift it out gently. Never use metal.
  • Battery drains too fast: check the output setting and consider whether the coil is clogged. A tired coil draws more power to produce the same vapour.
  • Sticky residue on the device: sweet liquids leave sugars behind. Wipe with a damp cloth, let it dry fully, and then reinsert the pod.

If you have been through the list and the device still misbehaves, stop using it and contact the shop with your order number, a short description of the fault and, if possible, a photo or a short video. A clear description speeds up any warranty or replacement process considerably.

Never attempt to open the device or modify the battery. Lithium cells are safe in a sealed device but can be dangerous once the casing is breached, and tampering will normally void any warranty.

Value for money and how it compares

The sensible way to judge value on a pod kit is to look at the cost over several months, not just the day-one price. A disposable vape might cost a few pounds for a few days of use, and a regular user can spend well over a hundred pounds in a quarter. A reusable kit costs more on the first day, then settles to the price of a bottle of e-liquid plus an occasional coil. For most people, the kit pays for itself within weeks.

Typical running costs for an average user:

  • E-liquid: one 10ml bottle often lasts several days to a week or more, depending on use.
  • Coils: roughly one every one to three weeks.
  • Electricity: negligible. A phone-style charge costs a fraction of a penny.

Since single-use disposables were banned in the UK in 2025, the sensible comparison is between this kit and other reusable options, and here are honest comparisons with other pod kits at a similar level:

  • Vaporesso XROS series: a very popular rival with a similar battery size and a strong pod range. The XROS family is also a safe pick, and has a wide supply of coils. The Argus P2 stands out less for specifications than for design and Voopoo's coil quality, so it comes down to taste and which pods you prefer to buy.
  • Uwell Caliburn series: a long-running name in pocket pods, with a reputation for flavour and simplicity. Caliburns are often slightly smaller in battery, which suits very light users but may mean more frequent charging.
  • Smok Nord series: a wider range of power and features, with more adjustment. A better fit if you want to tinker, a little heavier on the pocket and the learning curve.
  • Oxva Xlim series: well regarded for build and flavour, with a slightly more premium feel. Comparable in format, so the choice often depends on price on the day and which colour you like.
  • Geekvape Wenax series: another capable compact system with its own coil range, worth considering if you already own Geekvape pods.

None of these is a wrong choice. The most useful factor in the decision is often the one people overlook: how easy and how cheap it is to get replacement pods and coils for the device you pick. Before committing, check that the coils are widely stocked, because a good device with scarce spares becomes an annoyance within weeks.

On balance, the Argus P2 offers a dependable battery, a compact body and a replaceable coil system from a manufacturer with a long track record, at a price that undercuts a few months of disposables. That is a straightforward value case without needing any exaggeration.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I use in the VooPoo Argus P2?

Match the strength to how much you smoke: roughly 18mg to 20mg nic salt for heavy smokers, 10mg to 18mg for moderate smokers, and 5mg to 10mg for lighter smokers. UK law caps e-liquid at 20mg/ml, so that is the highest strength you will find. If you get headaches or dizziness, go down a step, and if you still crave cigarettes, go up a step.

How long does the Argus P2 take to charge?

A full charge over USB-C generally takes around an hour to an hour and a half with a standard 5V charger. Use a reputable cable and charger, do not charge it unattended for long periods, and never charge a device that is hot, wet or damaged.

Do the nine variants in the listing taste different?

No. A pod kit has no flavour of its own, so the nine variants are different colours or finishes of the same device. The taste comes from the e-liquid you put in, and you can change that whenever you like.

How long will one pod fill last?

A 2ml pod will typically last from a few hours to most of a day, depending on how often you vape and what power you use. A 10ml bottle gives roughly five fills, and heavier users should plan on refilling two or three times a day.

How often do I need to replace the coil?

Most people replace the coil every one to three weeks. Sweet, dessert-style liquids shorten coil life, while fruit, ice and tobacco liquids tend to last longer. Swap it as soon as the flavour fades or tastes burnt.

Is the Argus P2 good value compared with disposables?

For regular vapers, yes. A reusable kit costs more on the first day, but a bottle of e-liquid and an occasional coil cost far less than a stream of disposables, and the kit usually pays for itself within a few weeks. Single-use disposables have also been banned in the UK, so refillable kits are now the normal route.

Who should and should not buy this kit?

It suits adult smokers and ex-smokers who want a compact, simple, refillable device. It is not ideal if you want big clouds, full adjustability or a zero-maintenance setup. It should never be sold to or used by anyone under 18, and non-smokers have no need to start.

Can I switch between flavours easily?

Yes, but the coil holds some of the previous taste. If you move from a strong menthol to a fruit liquid, you may notice ghosting, so it helps to swap the coil or keep a separate spare pod for each flavour family.

Do you deliver to the UK and how do I recycle the kit afterwards?

Orders are shipped to UK addresses, and delivery options and timings are shown at checkout. When the kit reaches the end of its life, never put it in a household bin. Take it to a retailer take-back point, a council household recycling centre or a waste electricals drop-off, with the lithium battery left intact.

What is the warranty and returns policy?
