Overview: What Vlad's VG Black Ice Breaking Point Is

Vlad's VG Black Ice Breaking Point is a ready-to-use nicotine e-liquid sold in a 10ml bottle at a strength of 3mg/ml (0.3% nicotine). It is a freebase nicotine liquid made for refillable vape tanks and pods, which means you pour it into hardware you already own rather than buying a self-contained device. If you are coming from disposables, note that single-use vapes can no longer be sold in the UK, so refillable systems and bottled e-liquids like this one are now the everyday route for adults who vape.

The Vlad's VG name signals a VG-led recipe. Vegetable glycerine is the thicker base ingredient that tends to give larger, smoother vapour on sub-ohm hardware, while a smaller share of propylene glycol carries flavour and adds a little throat feel. The exact PG/VG split is printed on the bottle and in the product specification, so check it if you have a firm preference. We have not guessed a ratio here because the label is the only figure worth trusting.

The flavour name, Black Ice Breaking Point, points to a dark-fruit and cooling profile, and the rest of this page describes what that kind of liquid normally tastes like and how it behaves. Flavour is subjective, and the brand's own tasting notes on the bottle take priority over our description.

Key facts at a glance:

  • Brand: Vlad's VG
  • Flavour: Black Ice Breaking Point (dark fruit with a cooling finish)
  • Bottle size: 10ml, the maximum size allowed for nicotine e-liquid in the UK
  • Nicotine strength: 3mg/ml, a low strength well under the UK limit of 20mg/ml
  • Nicotine type: freebase nicotine, not a nicotine salt
  • Base: VG-led, with the exact split shown on the label
  • Best suited to: sub-ohm tanks and higher-wattage pod or mod kits
  • Age restriction: 18+ only, and not intended for non-smokers

This is an adult product that contains nicotine, which is addictive. It is aimed at smokers and existing vapers who want an alternative to cigarettes. If you do not smoke or vape, there is no reason to start.

Performance and Vapour Delivery

Performance with any e-liquid depends on three things working together: the liquid itself, the coil, and the power you run it at. With a VG-led liquid such as this one, the main effect you will notice is on vapour volume and smoothness. VG is thicker than PG, so it produces denser vapour and a softer hit at the back of the throat, particularly on open, airy tanks. Because the strength is only 3mg, you can take longer, slower draws without the harshness you would get from a high-strength freebase liquid.

On a typical sub-ohm setup, a 0.2 to 0.5 ohm coil at roughly 40 to 80 watts is a sensible range for a liquid of this kind. The exact sweet spot depends on the coil, so use the wattage range printed on the coil head as your guide and start at the lower end. Too little power leaves a cool, muted vape, while too much power can scorch the wick and leave a burnt taste that lingers.

A thicker liquid also wicks a little more slowly than a thin one. That is not a flaw, but it does mean you should let a fresh coil soak properly before you fire it. Pulling hard on a dry coil is the single most common reason people decide a perfectly good liquid is bad.

  • Throat hit: soft at 3mg, with a mild cooling sensation rather than a sharp scratch
  • Vapour production: dense and generous on sub-ohm hardware, modest on low-power pods
  • Draw style: direct-to-lung, with a loose, airy draw
  • Consistency: steady across the bottle, provided the coil is fresh and primed

It is worth being honest about the limits. A 3mg liquid on a sub-ohm device delivers a reasonable amount of nicotine across a long vaping session, but it will not satisfy someone who needs a firm nicotine hit from every puff. If you find yourself chain vaping to feel anything, the strength is probably too low for how you use it, and the nicotine section below explains how to move up sensibly.

On a small, low-power pod kit with a tight draw, the vapour will be thinner and the liquid may wick poorly because of its thickness. This e-liquid is better matched to hardware that is designed for higher-VG juice.

Flavour Profile: What to Expect from Black Ice

The words Black Ice in a flavour name usually describe two things layered together: a dark, tart fruit note, most often blackcurrant or a mixed dark-berry blend, and a cooling element that sits on top of it. Breaking Point suggests that the cooling is intended to be noticeable rather than faint. Treat this as an informed reading of the name and category, and check the bottle for the brand's own description.

Here is how a dark-fruit and ice liquid typically unfolds on the palate:

  • On the inhale: a sharp, slightly sour dark-fruit note arrives first, with a cool edge that you feel on the tongue and roof of the mouth
  • On the exhale: the fruit rounds out and turns a little sweeter, while the cooling moves into the nose and back of the throat
  • The aftertaste: a clean, lightly sweet finish with a lingering chill, rather than a heavy dessert-style coating

The cooling component in e-liquids is generally a synthetic cooling agent rather than real menthol oil. These agents give a cold sensation without much minty flavour, which is why ice-style fruit liquids feel refreshing without tasting like a mouthwash. If you dislike menthol, a cooling agent can still feel strong, so this is a point to consider before buying.

Flavour intensity depends partly on your hardware. Mesh coils and lower wattages tend to preserve the delicate fruit notes, while hotter settings flatten the fruit and push the coolness forward. If you want the berry to stand out, run it a little cooler. If you want the ice to dominate, turn the power up slightly, taking care not to cross into dry-hit territory.

Fruit and ice liquids are also easy to live with day to day. They are less cloying than custards or desserts, so they suit people who want to vape through the day without palate fatigue. Even so, vapers sometimes lose taste sensitivity to one flavour after a few days of constant use, often called vaper's tongue. Keeping a second flavour in rotation is a sensible way to avoid it.

If you have vaped other blackcurrant and ice liquids and enjoyed them, this belongs in the same family. If you prefer sweet bakery, tobacco or creamy flavours, it will taste notably different.

Bottle Design and Build Quality

E-liquid does not have a screen or a battery, so build quality comes down to the bottle, the cap, the seal and the label. UK rules set specific requirements here, and a 10ml nicotine bottle should arrive with a child-resistant cap, a tamper-evident seal, a leak-proof refill mechanism, and the legally required health warning on the label.

Practical points to look for when your bottle arrives:

  • Bottle material: a squeezable plastic bottle, which makes controlled filling easier than a rigid one
  • Nozzle: a narrow tip that fits the fill ports on most modern tanks and pods, including small ones
  • Cap: a child-resistant cap that needs to be pressed or squeezed while turning, which can take a moment to get used to
  • Tamper-evident ring: an unbroken band around the cap or neck when new
  • Label: brand, flavour, nicotine strength, bottle volume, ingredients, batch number, a best-before date and a nicotine health warning

The narrow tip matters more than most people expect. A good nozzle lets you fill a tank slowly and neatly, which cuts down spills and the sticky mess that VG-based liquids leave on fingers and hardware. Squeeze gently, because a thicker liquid will come out in a rush if you squeeze hard.

As with any 10ml bottle, there are a few sensible habits. Wipe the nozzle after filling, keep the cap on tightly, and store the bottle upright. Do not decant the liquid into unmarked containers, and never leave it where children or pets can reach it, since nicotine liquid is hazardous if swallowed or if it gets on skin.

Check the batch number and best-before date on arrival. Unopened e-liquid generally keeps for a year or more when stored properly, but a date on the label is the reliable guide. If a bottle arrives damaged, leaking or with a broken seal, do not use it and contact our customer service team so it can be dealt with under your consumer rights.

Devices, Battery and Charging: The Hardware Side

An e-liquid has no battery of its own, so there is nothing in the bottle to charge. What matters is the battery in the device you pour it into, because a sub-ohm style vape uses noticeably more power than a basic pod. This section covers how to match this liquid to the right hardware and look after the battery in it.

Common device types and how they suit a VG-led 3mg liquid:

  • Sub-ohm tank on a box mod: usually powered by one or two removable 18650 or 21700 cells. This is the natural home for a liquid like this one. Expect a day of moderate use from a decent pair of cells.
  • Refillable pod kit with a mesh coil: built-in batteries are commonly in the 800 to 2000 mAh range. Works well if the pod is rated for higher-VG liquid and a looser draw.
  • Small, tight-draw pen or pod: often 400 to 1000 mAh and designed for nicotine salts. Usually a poor match for a thicker freebase liquid, so we would steer you elsewhere.

Higher power means faster battery drain. A sub-ohm kit running at 60 watts will empty a cell far sooner than a pod running at 12 watts, and the gap is large. If your battery life is short, check the wattage first, since dropping it by 5 to 10 watts often extends a charge noticeably without hurting flavour.

Charging safety is worth stating plainly:

  • Use the charger supplied with the device, or a reputable USB-C charger from a known manufacturer
  • Do not leave batteries charging unattended or overnight
  • Never charge a damaged or swollen cell
  • Carry spare removable batteries in a case, not loose in a pocket with keys or coins

When a battery or device reaches the end of its life, do not put it in household rubbish or normal recycling. Lithium cells can start fires in bin lorries and recycling plants. UK retailers that sell vapes are required to take back old devices, and many household waste recycling centres also accept them, so ask in store or search for your nearest vape recycling drop-off point. Empty e-liquid bottles should be disposed of following your local council guidance.

Coils and Mesh: Choosing the Right Resistance

Coil choice has more influence on how this liquid performs than almost anything else. Because the base is thick, you want a coil with generous wicking openings, and mesh coils are well suited to that job.

Here is a straightforward guide to coil types:

  • Mesh coils (0.15 to 0.4 ohm): a flat sheet of mesh gives a large heating surface, which brings out the fruit and cooling notes evenly and wicks thick liquid well. A sensible first choice.
  • Standard sub-ohm round-wire coils (0.2 to 0.6 ohm): reliable, with good flavour, but they may need slightly more careful priming with thick liquids.
  • Regulated mouth-to-lung coils (0.6 to 1.0 ohm): they work at lower power and suit lighter draws. Quite acceptable for this liquid if your device is rated for it.
  • Tight mouth-to-lung coils (1.0 ohm and above): generally not recommended for a VG-led 3mg liquid. Wicking is poor and the nicotine delivery is low.

Cooling agents and sweeteners can shorten coil life. Ice and fruit liquids often contain sweeteners, and these caramelise on the heating element over time, leaving a thin film that dulls flavour. A coil running this liquid might last roughly one to two weeks of regular use, though this varies widely with power settings and how much you vape. Swap the coil when the taste goes flat or burnt, not on a fixed calendar.

To get the most from each coil:

  • Soak the cotton for at least five to ten minutes after fitting a new coil
  • Take a few gentle primer puffs without firing, to draw liquid through
  • Start at the low end of the coil's wattage range and raise power in small steps
  • Keep the tank at least a third full so the wicking holes stay covered

Chain vaping drains a coil faster than the liquid can refill the cotton, so pause between long draws if you notice a hotter, harsher taste. A coil that smells scorched should be replaced rather than coaxed along, since burnt cotton will taint any liquid you put through it afterwards.

Nicotine Strength Guidance: Is 3mg Right for You?

The 3mg/ml strength means the liquid contains 3 milligrams of nicotine per millilitre, which is 0.3%. In a 10ml bottle that is 30mg of nicotine in total. The legal ceiling in the UK for nicotine e-liquid is 20mg/ml, and the same cap applies to the liquid used in pods and refillable kits, so 3mg is a low strength by comparison.

As a rough guide for freebase nicotine in a VG-led liquid:

  • 0mg: nicotine-free, for people who want the flavour and hand habit only
  • 3mg: low strength, usually chosen for sub-ohm vaping with large clouds and long draws
  • 6mg: a middle strength for sub-ohm users who want a bit more throat hit
  • 12mg to 18mg: higher strengths, commonly used for tighter draws and by people stepping down from heavy smoking

The reasoning is simple. A looser, airier device delivers much more vapour per puff than a tight one, so you need less nicotine in each millilitre. Using a high strength in a sub-ohm tank usually feels harsh, and it makes it easy to take in far more nicotine than you intended.

Who tends to suit 3mg:

  • Experienced vapers who already use a sub-ohm device and are reducing their strength
  • People who vape throughout the day and prefer a gentle throat feel
  • Vapers who want a low-strength option for part of the day alongside a stronger liquid

Who is likely to find 3mg too weak:

  • Heavy smokers who have only just switched to vaping
  • People using tight mouth-to-lung devices, where each puff delivers a small amount of vapour
  • Anyone who finds that they keep topping up because the liquid does not satisfy cravings

If you smoke around 10 or more cigarettes a day, 3mg in a sub-ohm kit is often not enough on its own, and a higher freebase strength or a nicotine salt in a pod device is more common. Free local stop-smoking services and your pharmacist can talk through options. Nicotine is addictive, no vaping product is risk-free, and this product is for adults who already use nicotine.

If you decide to adjust your strength, move one step at a time and give yourself a few days to judge the change before moving again.

Who This E-Liquid Is For (and Who Should Skip It)

Choosing an e-liquid is mostly about matching your habits to the product, and it is just as useful to know when to look elsewhere. Here is an honest summary.

This is a good fit if you:

  • Already own or plan to buy a sub-ohm tank or a higher-power refillable kit
  • Enjoy fruit and ice flavours rather than sweet desserts or tobacco
  • Prefer large, smooth vapour and a gentle throat feel
  • Want a low nicotine strength that you can vape for longer without harshness
  • Like buying 10ml bottles so you can test a flavour before committing to a larger size

You may want something different if you:

  • Use a tight-draw pod device or pen that was built for nicotine salts
  • Need a firm nicotine hit from each puff
  • Dislike cooling sensations or menthol-style products
  • Want a bundle of many flavours at once, where a shortfill multipack may be more convenient
  • Do not currently smoke or vape. Nicotine products are not recommended for non-smokers and are illegal to sell to anyone under 18.

Pregnant women, people with heart conditions and anyone taking medication should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using nicotine products. Switching completely from cigarettes is generally considered far less harmful than continuing to smoke, but it is not harmless, and the aim for many people is eventually to reduce or stop nicotine entirely.

If you are an adult smoker thinking about vaping for the first time, it is usually easier to start with advice from a staffed vape shop or a local stop-smoking service rather than learning alone. They can help you pick a device and a nicotine strength that realistically fits your smoking habit, so you are less likely to relapse because the first setup felt unsatisfying.

For existing sub-ohm vapers this is a straightforward option in a recognised style. For a total beginner with a basic pod kit, it is probably not the right place to begin.

How to Fill, Prime and Use It

Getting a clean, tasty vape from a new bottle is mostly about careful preparation. These steps apply to most refillable tanks and pods, and your device manual should be treated as the final word if it says something different.

Step by step:

  • Prepare the bottle: give it a gentle shake, since flavour and nicotine can settle slightly in storage
  • Check the coil: if the coil is new, drip a few drops directly into the wicking holes to start the soak
  • Open the tank: follow the fill method for your model, usually a top-fill that slides or twists open
  • Fill slowly: aim the nozzle at the side of the fill port, not straight down the central chimney, and stop below the maximum line
  • Rest the tank: leave it upright for five to ten minutes so the cotton saturates fully
  • Prime with gentle draws: take a few short pulls without pressing fire before you begin vaping
  • Start low: set the power at the lower end of the coil range, then increase until the flavour feels right

Never overfill a tank. A tank that is filled to the brim leaks more easily, especially when you travel or the temperature changes. If your device has adjustable airflow, open it up for a cooler, bigger vape or close it down for more concentrated flavour.

When topping up, switch the device off or lock it first, and wipe off any liquid that gets on the threads, the base or the battery contacts. Nicotine liquid on skin can cause irritation, so wash it off with soap and water, and rinse eyes thoroughly with water if it gets in them and seek medical help if irritation persists.

In everyday use, aim to refill before the tank is empty. Vaping on a nearly dry coil is how burnt flavours start, and it shortens coil life. Keep the tank out of direct sunlight or a hot car, since heat thins the liquid and can cause leaks.

If you want to change flavour later, empty the tank, rinse it with warm water, dry it fully and fit a fresh coil. Ghost flavours linger in old cotton, so reusing the same coil usually leaves a muddled taste. Remember that the bottle must be stored with its cap on tightly after each use.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

Most problems with a refillable setup come down to power, wicking or airflow, and they are usually easy to correct. Here are the issues vapers report most often with high-VG liquids, and what to try.

Burnt or harsh taste:

  • Check that the coil has had a proper soak and that the tank is not near empty
  • Lower the wattage by 5 to 10 watts
  • Replace the coil if the taste does not improve, since burnt cotton will not recover

Dry hits or weak vapour:

  • Prime the coil again and give it a few minutes to soak
  • Take longer pauses between puffs so the cotton can refill
  • Make sure the wicking holes are above the liquid level
  • Confirm your coil is designed for a VG-led liquid, as tight coils struggle with thicker juice

Leaking or gurgling:

  • Check that the tank is assembled correctly and the seals are seated
  • Do not fill beyond the maximum line
  • Open the airflow slightly to reduce condensation
  • Store the device upright when it is not in use

Flavour seems muted:

  • The coil may be gunked up from sweeteners, so swap it out
  • You may be experiencing vaper's tongue. Try a different flavour for a couple of days, and a glass of water between sessions also helps
  • Increase the power slightly or close the airflow a touch

Cooling feels too strong or too weak:

  • A hotter vape reduces the perceived chill, a cooler vape increases it
  • If it is still too icy, consider mixing with a 3mg fruit liquid you already like, within the 10ml bottle size you have available, though this is only suitable for experienced users who understand nicotine strength maths

Sticky mess on the bottle:

  • This comes with the territory for VG-heavy liquids. Wipe the nozzle after each fill and keep a tissue handy

If something genuinely seems wrong with the liquid, for example an unusual smell, a separated appearance that does not settle after shaking, or a seal that was already broken, stop using it and contact us with the batch number from the label.

Value for Money and How It Compares

Value is not only about the price on the page. It depends on how long a bottle lasts, how many coils it costs you, and how closely the liquid fits what you wanted. We do not quote a fixed price in this description because prices change, so check the figure shown above for today's price.

How long does a 10ml bottle last? On a sub-ohm device, many vapers go through 3 to 5ml a day, so a 10ml bottle could be gone in two to four days. On a lower-power pod, a bottle may last a week or more. That is the honest answer: sub-ohm vaping uses liquid quickly, and a 10ml size is better for trying a flavour than for heavy daily use.

Comparing with other formats:

  • 10ml bottles like this one: ready to use, no mixing, easy to try several flavours, but the cost per millilitre is usually higher than in larger bottles
  • 50ml or 100ml shortfills: a lot more liquid per pound, but they come at 0mg and need nicotine shots to reach 3mg, which adds mixing, extra bottles and extra steps
  • Nicotine salt 10ml liquids: better suited to small pod devices and a tighter draw, with a smoother hit at higher strengths, but not designed for large clouds
  • Other VG-led freebase fruit and ice liquids: broadly similar in style, so the decision often comes down to flavour preference, price and whether the cooling agent suits you

If you vape a lot, a shortfill with a nicotine shot is likely to be cheaper over a month than repeated 10ml bottles. If you vape moderately, or you want a ready-made 3mg bottle without any measuring, the convenience of 10ml is worth the premium. If you like a flavour and plan to keep buying it, check whether larger sizes are available.

Factor in the running costs too. A thick, sweet liquid may wear out a coil sooner than a thinner one, so budget for a new coil every one to two weeks. A coil costs a few pounds, which adds to the real monthly cost.

Overall, this is a reasonable choice for adult sub-ohm vapers who like dark fruit and cooling flavours and want a low nicotine strength in a convenient size. It is not the cheapest route per millilitre, and it will not suit everyone.

UK Rules, Storage and Recycling

E-liquid sold in the UK sits under a clear set of rules, and knowing them helps you spot a genuine product and use it responsibly.

What the rules say:

  • Nicotine e-liquid is limited to 10ml per bottle and a maximum strength of 20mg/ml
  • Refillable tanks are limited to 2ml of capacity
  • Bottles must carry a health warning, ingredient list and batch information, and use child-resistant, tamper-evident packaging
  • You must be 18 or over to buy or be sold nicotine vaping products
  • Single-use disposable vapes are no longer permitted for sale, which is why this refillable format matters

The 20mg/ml cap applies across nicotine vaping products in the UK, including pods and the liquid in any device. This 3mg bottle sits comfortably far below it.

Storage:

  • Keep the bottle upright, capped, and in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight
  • Store it out of reach of children and pets at all times
  • Do not leave bottles in cars, where heat can degrade the liquid and loosen seals
  • Use within the best-before date printed on the label, and within a reasonable time after opening

Recycling and disposal:

  • Take old vape devices and batteries to a shop that sells vapes, which must accept them for recycling, or to a household waste recycling centre that takes electrical items
  • Never put lithium batteries or vape devices in household bins or kerbside recycling, because they are a fire risk
  • Empty bottles and used coils should be disposed of according to your local council guidance, since rules differ by area
  • Search for a vape recycling drop-off point near you before you bin anything electronic

At vapeshoponline.co.uk, we sell to UK addresses to adults aged 18 and over, and we may ask for age confirmation. If you ever have a question about a product or its labelling, our customer service team can help.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Best value per ml in the category
  • Choose your own device and coil
  • Available in a wide strength ladder

Cons

  • Refilling can leak if you overfill
  • Coil priming has a small learning curve
  • You handle the bottle — less discreet than pods

Customer Buying Tips

  • Match the strength to how much you smoked: 20+/day → 10-20 mg nic salt; 10/day → 10 mg; under 5/day → 3-6 mg freebase.
  • Match the ratio to your device: pod kits take 50/50, sub-ohm tanks take 70/30 shortfill.
  • Don't overfill: leaving the airhole clear prevents gurgling and leaking.
  • Shake before use so the nicotine and flavour integrate evenly.

Frequently asked questions

What nicotine strength should I choose, and is 3mg enough?

3mg/ml is a low strength designed mainly for sub-ohm devices that deliver a lot of vapour per puff. Lighter smokers and experienced vapers often find it enough, while heavier smokers or people using tight-draw devices usually need a higher strength or a nicotine salt. If you are unsure, speak to a pharmacist or a local stop-smoking service.

Do I need to charge this e-liquid?

No. The bottle is just liquid and has no battery. The battery you need to charge is the one in your vape device, and you should use the charger supplied with it, avoid charging unattended, and recycle old batteries at a proper drop-off point.

Which devices work with Vlad's VG Black Ice Breaking Point?

It suits sub-ohm tanks and higher-power refillable kits with mesh or low-resistance coils, typically from about 0.15 to 0.6 ohm. Small tight-draw pens and nicotine salt pods usually handle thick VG-led liquids poorly, so they are not a good match.

Does it come in other strengths or flavours, and how do I switch flavours?

Many e-liquids are offered in more than one strength, so check the options on this product page or search the Vlad's VG range for other flavours. To switch flavour, empty and rinse the tank, dry it, and fit a fresh coil, because old cotton keeps hold of the previous taste.

How long will a 10ml bottle last?

It depends on your device and habits. On a sub-ohm kit, a 10ml bottle often lasts two to four days of regular use, while on a lower-power pod it may last a week or more. A new coil also needs a few drops of liquid to prime, so the first fill always uses a little extra.

Is it good value compared with larger bottles?

A 10ml bottle is convenient and ready to use, but the cost per millilitre is usually higher than a 50ml or 100ml shortfill with a nicotine shot. It makes sense if you want to try a flavour, or you prefer not to mix. Heavy daily vapers will generally spend less with a larger format.

Who should and should not buy this?

It is intended for adult smokers and existing vapers who use compatible hardware and enjoy dark-fruit and cooling flavours. It is not suitable for anyone under 18, non-smokers, or people who are pregnant or have heart conditions without medical advice. Nicotine is addictive, so avoid it if you do not already use nicotine.

How does UK delivery work and will I be asked for ID?

We deliver to UK addresses only, and you must be 18 or over to order nicotine products. We may ask you to confirm your age, and the courier may do the same on delivery. Check the delivery information page for current timings and charges, as these can change.

What is your warranty and returns policy on e-liquid?

E-liquids have no warranty as such, but anything faulty, damaged or not as described is covered by your statutory rights under UK consumer law. If your bottle arrives leaking or with a broken seal, do not use it and contact us with your order number and a photo. Because of hygiene and safety rules, opened bottles are generally not returnable.

How should I store it and how long does it keep?

Keep the bottle upright with the cap tightly closed, in a cool, dark place away from sunlight, children and pets. Unopened liquid typically stays in good condition for a year or more, but use the best-before date on the label as your guide.

Does the job perfectly

Switched from a well-known brand and this is actually better, especially for the price. Will reorder.

Genuine and well-packed

Delivery was super fast and the product is genuine. I've had fakes before so this was a relief.
