MTL stands for mouth-to-lung. UK law, TPD limits and the disposable ban

Vaping products in the UK are regulated under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, which brought the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) into domestic law. The rules that matter most to a buyer of MTL pod kits are:

• Nicotine strength: capped at 20mg/ml for e-liquids and pre-filled pods.

The biggest recent change is the prohibition on single-use disposable vapes, which came into force on 1 June 2025. It did not affect rechargeable, reusable devices such as pod kits.
